Twitch Streamer’s House Shot At In The Middle Of Live Stream

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

A popular Twitch streamer had his house shot at while he was live streaming his video game.

Guy Beahm, who goes by the name Dr DisRespect on Twitch, was live streaming his game of the new Blackout beta on the website, which is a video platform people can use to share their game play in real time.

Wearing a wig and sunglasses, the gamer was talking to his 50,000 viewers about not being able to finish the game when he suddenly went quiet and looked off screen.

Beahm disappeared from the view of the camera and returned a few moments later, without the wig or sunglasses, to announce to his viewers that his house had just been shot at.

Watch the clip of Dr DisRespect’s stream here:

    Explaining the situation, he said:

Ladies and gentlemen, I gotta f**king end the … I’ve gotta end the broadcast right now.

Someone just shot at our house. Broke the f**king upstairs window.

This is the second shot, someone shot yesterday. Someone shot yesterday at our f**king house.

And someone shot again right now and connected with the house, upstairs.

A clip of the video was shared on Reddit, where viewers commented their shock at the situation.

    One concerned viewer wrote:

What a coward. Who would seriously go to a streamers house, and shoot at it driving by. He has kids, and a wife. Super messed up, hoping he gets it all sorted it. Stay safe Doc.

    Another suggested:

Doc needs to get some good security cameras and hopefully catch the f**ker. There is a child in that home. One time is maybe a coincidence, but two times is probably targeted.

    A third shocked viewer commented:

That is crazy, he has a child in that house too. I hope the person gets caught. No CCTV or anything any his area?

The fact they’re aiming for windows could be an assassination attempt.

Dr DisRespect is one of the most popular streamers on the Amazon-owned platform, with over 2.5 million followers.

His internet personality has become quite widely known, and he worked as community manager of Sledgehammer Games until 2015, when he quit to pursue streaming.

Though the shootings have not been confirmed to be targeted attacks, the two consecutive days of someone shooting at Beahm’s house suggest they are not random, but rather a planned attempt to harm the gamer.

Beahm lives in the house with his wife and young daughter, meaning if the attacks are targeted, their lives could also be at risk.

Primark Are Selling Fortnite Merch With T-Shirts Starting At Just £6

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

Primark has jumped on the 2018 Fortnite bandwagon and are now selling a range of very reasonably-priced t-shirts.

The ‘Primark X Fortnite’ collection has sent fans into a frenzy, with gamers excited to pick up t-shirts, starting at just £6.

The high street store revealed the collection on their official Instagram account, much to the delight of Fortnite fanatics.

    They wrote:

Our loot of official Fortnite merch has landed exclusively at Primark. Make your way up the ranks and achieve that coveted victory royale in one of these must-have tees.

The ‘Primark X Fortnite’ collection includes t-shirts for both adults and children, with some of the designs featuring the game’s trademark dance moves.

The post has been liked more than 45,000 times at the time of writing, which shows just how high the demand is going to be.

One person commented to say they’re putting them on their Christmas list, with others saying they were ‘on their way’ to the store.

Primark are well-ahead when it comes to preparing for Christmas – they’re set to launch a Disney advent calendar.

Instead of chocolate behind each door, they’ve gone with something less tasty but something which should last a whole lot longer – Disney baubles!

For every day leading up to Christmas from December 1, you can open up an advent calendar door and add your Disney-themed decoration to your tree.

The new calendar was shared on Instagram by disneyfind, who said:

Disney Christmas bauble advent calendar COMING SOON to @primark priced at £15 – I actually squealed when I opened this!

The calendar costs £15, meaning it’s just 60p per bauble. Which is an absolute bargain, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Selfridges are also getting into the festive spirit early on, having made headlines recently as they became the first department store to put up their Christmas decorations.

In a press statement, Selfridges Christmas and home buyer, Eleanor Gregory, said:

We have so many customers visiting from all over the world, eager to snap up festive decorations and souvenirs on their London summer holidays which they can’t buy at home.

This year it will expand to Christmas gifts for pets, the option to create a personalised family Christmas jumper and more than 50 types of tinsel ranging in price from £3 to £15 for the ‘ultimate tinsel garland.’

The store expects to hit peak stock by the end of September, with customers being able to pick from a range of nearly 4,000 Christmas-themed items.

The cheapest item you can buy is a souvenir pencil for £1.95, one of the more costly items is a selection of ornate neon signs selling for around £8,500 – which is probably slightly over-budget, but why not?

I know we’re only at the end of summer, but Christmas is pretty good, isn’t it?

  • Xbox Has Released A ‘Greaseproof’ Controller

Xbox Has Released A ‘Greaseproof’ Controller

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

In a slightly weird but probably ingenious move, Xbox have announced they have created a greaseproof controller.

You know how it is, you’re hunched round the console feverishly playing away with your mates, your palms sweaty, mom’s spaghetti, and suddenly you’re losing your grip. Your reactions aren’t as quick as they used to be and your fingers feel restricted by a strange lubrication that rather than making them go faster is hindering them instead.

Your nerves are getting the better of you. Not daring to look away from the screen, you wipe your forehead in a bid to spot a clue as to what’s going on down there.

And that’s when you smell it, the grease, The dripping, oozing grease from those delicious chicken wings slathered in hot sauce, the remnants of which lie desecrated in a bucket in the corner of your room.

The substance only seems to be spreading, it has infiltrated your controller and slowly the buttons are seizing up. Your on-screen avatar is glitching and all energy is being sapped away under the disgusting weight of inexplicable, horrific grease.

    Damn you, chicken dinner!

Well fear not intrepid gamer, your cries of anguish have been heard by the Xbox gods, and they have provided.

So leave those napkins where they are, don’t worry about the mess of wings at your feet or the delicious, orange Wotsit/Cheetos dust caking your fingers, Xbox have you covered.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wq_vAYlnEY?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wq_vAYlnEY?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

To celebrate the full release of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One, the team have created a limited edition, greaseproof controller.

The controller is in reference to the message PUBG players see when they win a match – winner winner chicken dinner.

As the creators, Xbox Australia, say:

It’s time to say goodbye to the greasy fingers of yesterday and hello to the sweet victory of tomorrow: no longer will chicken dinners slip through a player’s fingers, as Xbox Australia has created the limited edition PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Greaseproof Controller!

Created to celebrate the graduation of the game from Xbox Game Preview to full release (out now) and as a nod to the fan favourite “WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!” phrase, the controller features a patented coating that is resistant to chicken grease – assisting players in their fight for elusive, yet tasty, chicken dinner victories.

The controller is coated with a layer of urethane, which is applied by hand, so it’s not just greaseproof but also resistant to scratches and water. It’s also in custom PUBG colours.

If you want to get your slippery hands on one of these suckers you’ll have to be quick, as there are only a few up for grabs over at their Facebook page.

Of course, if you don’t get your clammy hands on one, I’m sure there alternatives: cling film around the controller, bags of climbing chalk, fresh air…

Greasy fingers crossed, however, that the innovative controllers become more widely available in the near future.

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Review

    Marvel’s Spider-Man Review

    Reading Time: 7 minutes

Marvels Spider Man Review 3393264 spider man ps4

Let’s get right to it: Marvel’s Spider-Man, the latest effort from Insomniac Games is quite possibly one of the best superhero games of all time, and inarguably the finest game starring the wall crawler to date. It’s not quite the Arkham beater you might have been hoping for, but it comes pretty damn close in our eyes.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utVr-n0MaU0?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utVr-n0MaU0?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Insomniac’s take on Spidey doesn’t attempt to tie-in to the comic books, or to the MCU version of the character played by Tom Holland. Instead, they’ve opted to create their own take on the character – one that fuses elements and characters from both the comic books and the movies.

The Peter Parker we see here isn’t a teenager, but an experienced crime fighter who’s put away his fair share of super-powered criminals. The game picks up as this more seasoned Spider-Man heads out to his final confrontation with the Kingpin, a brilliant little sequence that acts as an exciting tutorial, and sets up the thrust of the game’s narrative. With the Kingpin of crime locked up, how long will it take for the city’s criminal element to descend into chaos?

We won’t go into the rest of the story here, as there are plenty of genuinely surprising cameos and fan favourite characters that show up, and being surprised by these moments in the story is all part of the fun – especially for fans of Spider-Man lore.

Classic villains rear their heads in some of the most memorable and creative boss battles we’ve ever seen in a big budget video game, with Insomniac making fantastic use of Spidey’s unique powers to create thrilling and truly memorable set pieces that don’t rely on quick time events anywhere near as much as previous trailers for the game had led us to believe.

Even if you don’t have a GCSE in Spider-Man history, there are enough twists, turns, and suitably shocking character moments over the course of the 20 hour story to keep players invested, thanks in no small part to some fantastic vocal performances and detailed facial animations. This game truly has all the makings of a classic Spider-Man story, and by the time the credits roll, you’ll be desperate for a sequel.

Marvels Spider Man Review Spider Man 1

When you’re not playing through the story, you’ll be swinging across the city, catching thieves just like flies. We are happy to report that web swinging in this game is the best it’s ever been, and will absolutely recapture the thrill you felt the first time you explored New York in 2004’s Spider-Man 2.

Guiding the webhead through a beautifully realised New York City is an absolute joy, with fluid movements and tight responsive controls ensuring that you’ll be gracefully pirouetting your way across Manhattan in no time at all. Spidey’s animations are absolutely gorgeous, and Insomniac have smartly added a parkour button, which means if you swing into a building or any other solid object, you’ll simply bounce off or run over it and be on your way, without bringing your momentum to a grinding halt.

It’s also easier than ever to change direction or altitude while swinging, thanks to buttons that let you zip across buildings and grapple to certain ledges. The novelty of leaping off the tallest building you can find before shooting out a web line and swinging away at the last possible second still hasn’t worn off for us, even hours into the game.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5-_MvCWSfI?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5-_MvCWSfI?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

In fact, in our first few hours of play, we were too distracted by all the fun little side missions to even be thinking about getting on with the story. Don’t get us wrong, Marvel’s Spider-Man doesn’t reinvent the wheel in terms of open world activities by any stretch, but because the simple act of getting from A to B is so enjoyable,  you won’t mind the occasional repetitive crime or collectable.

After all, swinging along before jumping down to stop a random mugging or kidnapping before carrying on is what being Spider-Man is all about, and these random side events feel so seamless thanks to a smooth, fluid combat system, so they rarely disrupt your Spidery day. There are also civilians to save and car chases to get involved with, but we would have liked a little more variety in this area.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV2Ep4GzSrU?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV2Ep4GzSrU?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Other side tasks besides your standard crime fighting involve hunting down backpacks from your old school days, and taking photos of famous landmarks across the city, including the Empire State Building and Avengers Tower – these aren’t particularly thrilling jobs, but they often throw up nice little Easter eggs for fans.

There are a couple of slightly more involved side-missions too, some of which involve a couple of lesser known Spidey villains – but the majority of these don’t really leave much of a lasting impression. Oh, there are also enemy bases to take, which offer waves of enemies which can be taken out using either stealth or… a louder approach.

Completing any of these fun little diversions will contribute to unlocking cool new suits and upgrading your gear to be the best Spider you can be, which means that everything you do while exploring the city will has some kind of tangible payoff, which might not be why Peter Parker does what he does, but we want the loot, dammit.

    Marvels Spider Man Review %name

Because Spider-Man is a modern AAA title, it obviously has unlockable skill trees and gear for you to upgrade. Much in the style of the Arkham games, you can get equipment that aids you with stealth, combat, and movement, with some really fun new gadgets that can picked up later on in the game, including impact webbing that pins enemies instantly to walls, and a Spider drone that will aid you in battle.

Combat is an absolute blast by the way, and makes the most of Spidey’s versatile set of powers. It takes a little getting used to at first, but you’ll soon be dodging, webbing, and punching your way through hordes of goons. The game particularly seems to reward players for paying attention to their surroundings in a fight, which we really like.

The webhead is often able to gain an advantage by throwing objects at enemies, or pulling heavy environmental hazards down to immobilise foes. Any bad guys that are close to walls can be webbed to them to take them out of the fight, while Spidey can even bounce off of objects to take out multiple threats at once.

Assessing the environment before a fight and then making the most of it can be the difference between life and death, as too many enemies attacking at once can overwhelm and take a real chunk out of your health.

    Marvels Spider Man Review %name

Stealth is slightly less fun than the straight up combat, but it still has its perks. Like the Arkham games, there are a multitude of gadgets and skills to help you screw with your victims as you creep overhead, and singling a foe out before webbing them to the ceiling without alerting the others honestly never gets old.

In terms of creating a rewarding interactive Spider-Man experience then, Insomniac has absolutely nailed it. Simply put, it has never felt this good to control the webslinger, with both movement and combat feeling better and tighter than they ever have in a Spidey game.

Marvels Spider Man Review spider man ps4 preview swing h 2018

One thing we can say is that for better or worse, is that the Peter Parker side of Spidey is a huge part of this game. Insomniac have clearly understood that Spider-Man’s secret identity is a vital part of the character, and have incorporated him into the gameplay.

There are sections where you’ll explore areas as Peter, learning more about other characters and even solving the occasional lightweight logic puzzle in the lab you work at, which nets you materials which can also be used to craft new equipment and suits. These parts of the game aren’t terrible, but they can interrupt the flow of all the web-slinging action, and – at times – come dangerous close to feeling like padding.

So too do the Mary Jane gameplay sections, which combine basic stealth and Uncharted style puzzles as our intrepid Daily Bugle reporter investigates the game’s larger mystery alongside Spider-Man.

These sections don’t take up a ton of time, and it’s nice to see MJ play a more active role in the story instead of being relegated to model/failed actress in distress, but you’ll likely once again be asking yourself why you aren’t webbing bad guys to walls and kicking them in the head at these points. Thankfully these areas are few and far between, and for the most part do come at times where the story could use something of a breather.

Marvels Spider Man Review 19eab5 Spider Man PS4 Iron Spider Rooftop

As the name of the game suggests, however, Spider-Man is the real star of the show here. Whether you’re out exploring the game’s massive open world and high-fiving New Yorkers on the street, or chasing down a stolen car while you listen to J. Jonah Jameson discuss your latest exploits on his unintentionally hilarious Alex Jonesesque podcast, Insomniac games have done an absolutely stunning job of creating a believable, lived-in world for the webhead to inhabit.

Simply put, Marvel’s Spider-Man is a triumph on almost every level. Even the occasional bit of padding in the story and some repetitive crimes can’t get in the way of a game that looks incredible, plays even better, and manages to tell one of the most exciting stories in a video game this year.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3ricWI0KHE?start=4&feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3ricWI0KHE?start=4&feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

If you’re a fan of the webslinger, or even if you’re just after a truly polished and rewarding AAA experience to keep you busy for a week or two, you need this game. Spider-Man has honestly never been quite this amazing.

A New Zoo Tycoon Game Is About To Be Released

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Ever wondered what a crossover between Matt Damon’s 2011 classic film We Bought A Zoo and The Sims would look like?

No, neither have I, but we now have an answer to that question nonetheless!

Zoo Tycoon, the popular video game originally released in 2001 is making a long awaited comeback in the form of Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection, and it’s out this month.

The new version of the game promises a choice of over 200 animals, detailed worlds to get stuck into as well as an option which allows up to four players, meaning one of your mates can be the Scarlett Johansson to your Matt Damon as you build zoos together.

The Steam description of the game reads:

    • Get up close and personal with nearly 200 visually stunning animals from around the globe
    • Create the Zoo of your dreams with the biggest, most detailed environments ever utilizing intuitive yet powerful controls designed for Zoo Tycoon fans of all ages
    • It’s your zoo – design and manage your ideal zoo from intuitive road construction to the ability to adjust the enclosures and decorate them. The choice is yours!
    • Extended Campaign Mode lets you become the ultimate zoo tycoon by completing 30 exciting scenarios all around the world!
    • Specialized Challenge Mode features 20 specialized zoos. Collect all the species and transfer animals from one of your zoos to another! But beware of the crises that can strike at any time!
    • Build and share your Zoo with up to four people

The game will be released on September 14, and is a surefire way to fall into a big ol’ nostalgia hole.

Just don’t go too far down the gaming hole, as you might end up this like kid, who took things a bit too far after his mum got fed up with him playing video games all day every day.

Britta Hodge, from Sydney, Australia, insists her son Logan has become addicted to online gaming, and in particular has an obsession with the massively popular battle royale game, Fortnite.

Britta says the teenager plays all night long and only leaves his room to eat or to go to the bathroom. Which – horrific enough – is as close as you can get to the episode of South Park where they all become addicted to World of Warcraft and Cartman doesn’t leave the room.

Britta revealed in an interview with 9 News’ 60 Minutes that Logan has even lashed out at her when she’s tried to take his console away, Metro reports.

    She said:

It’s not as simple as taking the cord away and going, ‘Oh well, bad luck, you haven’t got the internet’.

Because the repercussions from that – angry, aggressive – we’ve had to call the police. I have been headbutted, I’ve had concussions.

Britta claims before she bought her son a PS4 two years ago, he was sporty and regularly went out with friends.

And Fortnite is just the latest of his addictions, he’s also been playing Minecraft, Call of Duty, Destiny and Ark.

Better not tell him about Zoo Tycoon, then.

  • Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Is Now Backward Compatible On Xbox One

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Is Now Backward Compatible On Xbox One

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Everyone remembers their first Call of Duty game, in the same way everyone remembers the first time they lost their… y’know.

But I digress, for me and many others who owned an Xbox 360, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the first foray into the world of the CoD franchise, and now, the original game is now backwards compatible on the Xbox One.

So, if you still own an original copy of the game, pop the disc in and bask in the nostalgia of Activision’s most important CoD entry.

The revelation CoD: MW2 is now playable on Xbox One was revealed by Microsoft’s Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, who made the announcement via Twitter.

In his post he wrote how the much-loved and heavily requested MW2 will be up and running on Microsoft’s current-gen console.

He also adds the previous player stats and DLC will remain intact too, meaning if you were a tenth level prestige (do you remember what daylight even looks like?) you won’t have to go through all the monotonous grinding just to attain your level.

    Hryb wrote:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility today (and it is on sale this week)

Although if you were that committed to the game in the first place, maybe starting from level one is what you secretly wanted. Are you a masochist by any chance?

Don’t rejoice too quickly though, if your account was previously banned for cheating (or being a horrible troll) it will remain banned, according to Hypebeast.

What made MW 2 such an important entry in the franchise was its ability to balance a strong online multiplayer community and single-player campaign at the same time. So if getting worked online by someone who is half your (IQ) age with weapons they’ve totally nerfed out, you can kick back and enjoy the single-player experience.

The CoD series has always attracted controversy and MW 2 was no different. Early in the campaign (if you didn’t turn on the sensitive content filter) you were placed on a mission where you went undercover to infiltrate a Russian terrorist organisation. To act the part you had to take part in a mass slaughter of innocent citizens at a Russian Airport.

The phrase ‘Remember, no Russian’, uttered right before you carry out the mass-shooting, became immortalised in the annals of gaming history.

Since the original release back in November 2009, MW 2 has been hailed as one of the greatest first-person shooters of all time. Within 24 hours of release, the game sold approximately 4.7 million copies in North America and the United Kingdom. It currently sits with a 94% score on Metacritic

With MW2 as the final compatibility, this now means all CoD games are playable on the Xbox One. So please, go forth and relive the Modern Warfare 2 era. A game which spawned a generation of campers, noob-tubers, trolls, racist five-year-olds and gamers so skilled it would make you take your control pad, smash it against the wall and then scream into the eternal abyss.

    Good memories.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Review MHGU KeyArt Valstrax

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate has the distinct honour of being the first Monster Hunter title to grace Nintendo’s popular home console/hybrid Switch. This is a console that the fantastic Monster Hunter absolutely belongs on, and is a must-buy for any Switch owner who didn’t play Generations on the 3DS.

The problem is – and it pains me to say that there’s a problem – is that while we could (or should) have had an original game that made the most of the Switch’s unique strengths, what we instead have a HD port of an old 3DS game that lacks many of the bells, whistles, and quality of life improvements that made Monster Hunter World such a… well, monster success.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW0v6f2ipuI?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW0v6f2ipuI?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Don’t get me wrong – Generations Ultimate is still a brilliant Monster Hunter game, and it’s packed with all the ridiculous weapons, gear, and fearsome beasts you’d expect from such a title – plus plenty of added content, which we’ll get to a little bit later – in my opinion, Monster Hunter is often at its best on the go, and being able to play a HD version on the train is a delight.

Generations definitely looks, sounds, and plays better on the Switch than it did on the 3DS too, which is as much as you could hope for to be fair – but again, it’s too hard to ignore the fact that it can’t really hold a candle to World in the visual department.

Yes, it’s a Switch game, so obviously it won’t look as good as an Xbox One or PS4 title, and I’m a huge supporter of trading off graphical oomph in favour of being able to take a game on the go – I loved DOOM and Wolfenstein II on Switch, for example.

But in the case of Monster Hunter, there’s no escaping that this isn’t an impressive port of a game that lived on a more powerful console – this is essentially an upscaled 3DS game, and while I can overlook that in the long run and still have a blast with the game, there’s no escaping the fact that it could have looked much better. Still, it’s certainly serviceable, if not stunning.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Review MHGU screens Amatsu bmp jpgcopy

So, having now established that this game is essentially a step backwards from World, is it honestly worth your time and hard-earned cash – especially if you’ve already played Generations on the 3DS? I would say yes, for the most part.

Those who already enjoyed Generations on 3DS will know what to expect from the game, and Capcom have certainly thrown in enough new content to sweeten the pot. For a start, there are 20 new monsters to hunt and fight this time around, bringing the total up to 93 from the original version’s 73. The mix of new and returning creatures is a huge selling point for any seasoned hunters thinking about double dipping, and for newcomers, this is obviously a no-brainer – that’s a ton of beasties to best, so you’ll not find yourself short of content.

There’s also been a huge boost to the endgame thanks to the new “G-Rank” tier of quests, which offers up insanely difficult monsters with new attacks and frankly ridiculous health bars – all of which encourages you to play around with some of the shiny new armour sets designed specifically to be utilised at this late point in the game.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Review MHGU screens Mizutsune bmp jpgcopy

There are also two new Hunter styles (Valor and Alchemy), and a new hunter art for each weapon class. The sheer amount of new content is certainly admirable, and should be enough to tempt anyone back to the game even if they have played it before – but be aware that the base game is still the same as it was in 2015, which isn’t a bad thing, since the base game was and is brilliant.

With that said, this really isn’t a new game, even for all the shiny new additions, but it is undoubtedly the best Monster Hunter game currently available on any Nintendo console, and a must-buy for any Switch owners who are hungry for more after checking out World. You can even import your old 3DS save and head straight to the endgame if you want, but that would effectively make the game glorified DLC, and potentially not the worth the full fat price tag.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Kfyh2ZUrQI?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Kfyh2ZUrQI?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

All I would say at this final juncture is that Generations Ultimate is not as streamlined or accessible as its “next-gen” sibling, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a deeply rewarding and addictive experience in its own right, regardless of whether you’re playing alone or with friends. Milage may vary, but a good time will be had by all in some capacity.

‘World’s Sexiest Weathergirl’ Makes Dig At Ex Who Dumped Her To Play Call Of Duty

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Yanet Garcia, who has been dubbed ‘the world’s sexist weathergirl’, has sent a sly dig at her ex-boyfriend who split with her to spend more time playing Call of Duty.

Earlier this year, Douglas ‘FaZe Censor’ Martin revealed in a video posted to YouTube he dumped his girlfriend so he could focus on professional gaming on a full-time basis.

He also spoke about how they pair met, describing how he flew ‘all the way out to Mexico’ from New York three years ago in order to meet her. They started to date and Yanet later moved to the big apple for a year.

However, things changed when Yanet decided to go back to Mexico to continue her job as a weathergirl and to pursue a career in acting and modelling.

    He said:

I supported her decision. She wanted to be a supermodel actress – chase your dreams, life’s too short. I’m playing Call of Duty full-time now and she wanted to take her job opportunity. I didn’t think it was going to be that difficult. Back then it was a lot easier for me to go out and see her. But now I have obligations.

I’m on a contract. It’s not like I don’t want to do this, this is the career that I want. I want to win a ring, I want to win a world championship, what I want in my life at this very moment is to compete in Call of Duty because I love it so much. I’m going to do whatever it takes to be a champion.

There’s only 24 hours in a day and I just didn’t have enough time to do what I needed to do.

Yanet responded to Douglas, saying she was ‘at peace’ about the the whole thing, describing the long distance relationship as ‘very difficult’, and wishing him success in the future.

However, it seems now that Yanet couldn’t help but have a little dig at Douglas on social media recently.

Earlier this month, the Evil Geniuses team won the CWL Call of Duty championships, beating Team Kaliber at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Asia, the girlfriend of Justin Fargo who is part of the Evil Geniuses team, tweeted her partner after their victory, saying:

Saying I’m proud of you is such an understatement. I love you so much, you’re an incredible human and my favorite one.

A boyfriend who is a professional gamer wins a massive tournament but managed to stay with his girlfriend throughout it all? Sounds like Douglas could learn a thing or two, not just about relationships but CoD too.

Yanet didn’t miss the message either, as she retweeted the message with the caption ‘True love’.

Naturally, fans took it as a message aimed squarely at her ex, Douglas.

    One person replied:

    i love the shade she’s throwing. she’s a queen.

    While another, tagging Douglas, said:

So you’re telling me you can win cod champs and still have time for you s/o??? Well would you look at that

Perhaps Yanet wasn’t as ‘at peace’ with it as she suggested…

Streets Of Rage 4 Has Finally Been Confirmed

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

Ladies and gentlemen, the wait is over. A new Streets of Rage is on its way!

That’s right, following months of hearsay Dotemu and Lizardcube, the developer and publisher of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, announced the release of Streets of Rage 4 today in partnership with Sega.

The latest in the Streets series will feature all your favourites from Axel and Blaze in ‘an entirely original arcade-style romp’ that will feature your standard vintage gameplay yet new fighting devices and an original story to boot.

It is the longest break between games in the series. The last Streets of Rage was released in 1994 believe it or not.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_bgPefCyfA?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_bgPefCyfA?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Streets of Rage, known as Bare Knuckle in Japan, in the memories of a certain generation remains a near-perfect trilogy of beat ’em up games developed and published by SEGA in the 1990s.

Famously known for its non stop action and electronic dance influenced music – scored by Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima – the series has gained the status of cult classic throughout the years. It is considered one of the best beat ’em up series of all time. After many years, Axel and Blaze are finally picking up the fight where they left.

Featuring hand-drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s gorgeous Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, Streets of Rage 4 builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.

Streets of Rage 4 recalls classic gameplay but it stands as an entirely original arcade-style romp thanks to the expertise of Guard Crush Games and Dotemu.

‘Whether players gang up with a friend or clean up the city solo,’ they write on their website. ‘Streets of Rage 4 is a skull-bashing, chicken-chomping delight all set to a thumping soundtrack sure to get your blood pumping.’

Gamer Responds After Dumping World’s Sexiest Weather Girl To Play More CoD Then Losing Championship

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

I dunno if you heard but pro-gamer Douglas Martin lost the Call of Duty League Championship weeks after dumping the ‘world’s sexiest weathergirl’, Yanet Garcia, so he could practise more. The ultimate lesson in ‘Wow Doug, don’t do that!’

Mexican gamer Douglas ‘Censor’ Martin hit the headlines when he finished with Garcia to concentrate on the online championship, but angrily told his 1.3 million Twitter followers after crashing out of the competition: ‘No I do not want Yanet back!’

Fans thought he was mad to end his long-term relationship with the 27-year-old weather reporter, and so did her whopping 7.2 million Instagram fan base, but Martin insists he has no regrets.

    He wrote:

I came back this year and said I was winning [the] championship. I feel so bad. I really thought our team could do it.

Explaining to his followers how he felt when he split with Yanet, Doug said:

She’s beautiful, she’s smart, she was an awesome girlfriend.

I know it sounds weird I’m saying all this…it’s just, I gotta do what feels right for me.

In the video, he opened up about flying ‘all the way out to Mexico’ from New York three years ago, in order to meet her. They soon started to date and Yanet moved to New York for a year.

Yanet subsequently responded to his apology. Appearing on TV show Hoy (Today) to reveal her thoughts about the split, Garcia spoke of the ‘difficult days’ since it ended.

She said as per the Mirror:

So, I am relaxed, at peace, I keep what was good about the relationship in my heart. We were in a long distance relationship, it was very difficult.

I actually do not judge him, on the contrary I wish him all the success, I hope that he wins that championship and it gives him all that he wants.

We were a couple working in social media, and he had commitments with his followers while I have my job and projects.

When asked if she could envision a time when they could get back together, Garcia said, ‘No, I do not think so. I trust God, he has something else for me.’

A few days following the split she tweeted: ‘Never listen to the advice of a person has not done anything good with his life.’ Scathing stuff if I ever saw it.

This is wounding stuff for Doug, theres’ no beating around the bush here. Maybe he had a point when he said he needed to focus more and this is just a new leaf. In order to win you must first learn how to lose, all that stuff.

  • A New TimeSplitters Game Could Be On The Way

A New TimeSplitters Game Could Be On The Way

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

There hasn’t been a new TimeSplitters game since 2005’s TimeSplitters: Future Perfect on the PlayStation 2,  Xbox and  Gamecube.

However, this could be about to change as a long-awaited sequel seems to be on the horizon – finally.

Despite its cult following, the TimeSplitters series became one of those franchises stuck in a perpetual state of gaming limbo – maybe purgatory is a better term of phrase?

TimeSplitters 4 had been in development but was soon cancelled after publishers Crytek who bought the studio Free Radical – went bust. Yet the rights have now been bought by THQ Nordic, and thus, giving fans the hope of a long-awaited sequel.

The first three games were released between 2000 and 2005. The first two were published by Eidos and the latest was published by Electronic Arts.

Developers Free Radical were developing a fourth TimeSplitters, but following the failure of Haze on the PlayStation 3, no other publisher was interested in financing the game.

THQ Nordic (best known for Alan Wake and the criminally underrated Darksiders series) have also acquired the rights to Second Sight, Free Radical’s third-person stealth-shooter, which was released back in 2004. They also have plans to release other Second Sight ‘products’ through developers Deep Silver, according to Polygon.

For you gaming aficionados out there, Deep Silver is the studio behind the Saints Row series, and they’re currently developing the highly anticipated Shenmue III.

In an official statement released to the press, Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of THQ Nordic’s Koch Media, said:

We are hugely excited to have acquired TimeSplitters. The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience.

We have many fans of the TimeSplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill today’s gaming audience.

Back in April 2012, a spokesperson for Crytek stated TimeSplitters 4 was ‘not in development’. The following month it was confirmed by Crytek’s Cevat Yeril.

    At the time Yeril said:

Look, I wish we were working on it. The thing with TimeSplitters is, if we made a sequel to TimeSplitters, nobody would accept this apart from some fans, and we don’t know how big the fan community is unfortunately.

A year later in July, TechRadar brought up the subject of a TimeSplitters sequel, again, this time with series developer, Steve Ellis.

When asked about the possibility of it being released on eight generation consoles he openly admitted:

I don’t think there’s any chance that’s going to happen, you always got to the point where the marketing person in the room would say ‘I don’t know how to sell this’ because they want a character that they can put on the front of the box.

Every marketing person and every publisher we spoke to [said] ‘You can’t have that as your selling point’ and maybe the sales figures of previous games backed that up.

His statement at the time effectively buried any hope of a potential TimeSplitters sequel in the foreseeable future.

But with THQ Nordic’s acquisition, the much-loved first-person shooter game has been given a lifeline, meaning gamers can live in hope once again.

Come on THQ Nordic, make it happen… please.

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 Gameplay Trailer Just Dropped And It Looks Incredible

Red Dead Redemption 2 Gameplay Trailer Just Dropped And It Looks Incredible

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Rockstar Games have finally released the first gameplay trailer for the hotly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2.

Though the initial, tantalising trailer for the game dropped earlier this year, fans have been craving shots of actual gameplay ever since the announcement of the game.

Up until now, Rockstar have only teased fans with a few cinematic trailers, which have focussed on setting up the story of the game, namely the tales of Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang.

However, the games company confirmed fans will get to see actual gameplay in a tweet yesterday, August 8, simply giving the time and date for the release of the official gameplay trailer.

    And here it is:

In the past, the game’s company has teased that Red Dead Redemption 2 will offer ‘incredible emotional depth’, ‘great story elements’ and ‘great gameplay elements’.

They have also suggested the sequel will have a bigger focus on multiplayer, though it’s not yet clear how that will be incorporated in the game.

Rockstar announced Red Dead Redemption‘s sequel back in February this year, again via Twitter, with a post simply saying ‘Red Dead Redemption 2 is Coming October 26th 2018’.

The sequel has been long overdue since the debut of 2010’s seminal masterpiece Red Dead Redemption on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

A press release at the time said:

We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologise to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.

The release and subsequent success of Red Dead Redemption in 2010 was a pivotal moment for Rockstar, as it proved once and for all they didn’t need to rely on the huge achievement of Grand Theft Auto to thrive as a company.

Talking about the new game, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take Two Interactive, told Game Rant last year:

We support all of our releases very significantly. We’re incredibly proud of our marketing teams throughout the company and our support is quite significant for all of our releases…I think you should expect to see, with regard to all of our releases, very significant marketing support.

I don’t think there is any competitive dynamic with any of our upcoming releases, apart from the fact that our success is driven by quality. So I think the success of [Red Dead Redemption 2], which is highly anticipated, will be driven by its quality, and I think that the ongoing success of Grand Theft Auto Online is driven by its extraordinary quality.

Only a couple months to wait for the real thing now!

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26.

    Dead Cells Review

    Dead Cells Review MasterArt 1080

Around two hours into Motion Twin’s wonderful metroidvania/rogue-lite Dead Cells, I was on a roll – confident I’d really gotten the hang of things, and certain I was on the path to victory.

I’d just fought my way through a dungeon full of zombies, barely made it in one piece across a field of demonic killing machines, and done battle with wizards and archers along the ramparts of an ancient castle. I felt good. Powerful. Ready for whatever came next.

Then I came face to face with the first boss, and my newfound arrogance led to my foolhardy tush being handed to me on a plate. I fell in battle, and was returned once more to the now all-too familiar starting area.

And so, faced with the prospect of doing it all over again (yet again), I decided I’d walk away for a bit. I turned off my Switch and went to make a cup of tea.

Without even really realising it however, I found myself back at it – knee deep in zombie guts and nearly at the second area – before the kettle had even boiled. Long story short; Dead Cells is seriously damn addictive, my friends.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJa8qwSOTNk?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJa8qwSOTNk?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Here’s the deal for the uninitiated: Dead Cells is essentially a cross between Dark SoulsBinding of Isaac, and classic Metroid – but it amounts to so much more than the games that influenced it.

It’s that rare breed of game that offers a slick, punishing, but constantly rewarding experience that will always leave you desperate to come back for more, no matter how hard it slaps you down. And it will slap you down hard.

The hero of Dead Cells is unable to die, you see. A silent protagonist, it’s your job to guide him through this mysterious castle and find the way out. Like Metroid, there are special items to collect that open up new areas and help you get through earlier areas faster – the twist, however, is that when you die in Dead Cells, you lose all the gear you’ve collected and have to go right back to the beginning to start over.

Only certain perks – like traversal abilities and health potion upgrades – will remain with you when you return to life, whereas most of your gold, weapons, and precious cells (the “souls” of this game that can be used to be upgrade and unlock new gear) are gone.

Unlike Dark Souls, you can’t reclaim that shit, my friend. When it’s gone, it’s gone, which makes trying to find the exit in an area so you can go upgrade your gear an arse-clenchingly tense exercise- especially when you’re lugging around 30+ cells.

    Dead Cells Review 36a7ef77 9570173

If starting over again and again sounds like a bit of a slog, that’s because it can be – but very, very rarely. For the most part, you’ll find that each playthrough gets incrementally easier, thanks to those handy cells we were just talking about. You remember. It wasn’t that long ago. Pop back up the last paragraph if you’ve already forgotten, I’ll wait.

In between each “level”, you’ll come across a helpful chap who can help you unlock all manner of handy goodies. These range from permanent perks like health potions or the ability to retain a certain amount of gold upon death, to weapons and traps that can be unlocked and will randomly appear across the map on your next playthrough.

In short then, every time you die, you’ll get to start again with new gear to find, a better understanding of the enemies, and – even though the map layout does ever so slightly change each time – a better understanding of where you’re going. If it sounds slightly daunting on paper, it’s really not as complicated as I made it sound. As soon as the game starts, instinct kind of kicks in, and you really do just go with the flow, even if that flow does seem to kill you a lot.

Still, once you accept that you’re just gonna have to roll with the punches and adjust to the game’s ethos of doing a little bit better each time, the game really clicks. Death is never something you want, but it never feels frustrating or unfair. You simply head back to the start, safe in the knowledge that you’ve learned something important, or earned a sweet new bit of gear.

    Dead Cells Review 5bc1c88e 9570173

I know the idea of having to play through the same areas and fight the same enemies over and over again doesn’t sound super appealing, but Motion Twin have done a magnificent job of turning what should be a massive pain into one of the game’s most addictive – and innovative – features.

For a start, a “run” doesn’t even take that long. You can get through an area in anywhere between two to ten minutes, depending on how thorough you want to be. During the first few hours you’ll want to scour levels to find the best weapons, unlock blueprints, and collect as many cells as you can – but as you slowly upgrade your characters abilities you’ll come across stronger weapons more frequently, negating the need to comb every nook and cranny of every area.

You’ll also be pleased to know that there are various permanent runes you can claim. Not only do these make travelling from A to B a little more expedient, they also open up new paths that lead to entirely new areas, in that grand Metroidvania tradition. For example, early on you’ll discover a rune that lets you sprout vines to climb to previously unreachable ledges.

With this new ability, you’ll find that from the starting area, instead of going back to the usual second location, you’re able to reach an entirely new section which in turn has its own secrets, enemies, and upgrades to discover.

It’s this constant loop of minor progression that makes death in Dead Cells genuinely rewarding, and deliciously addictive – no matter how many mistakes you make, the game will continue to slowly unfold in front of you, revealing something new, and offering you more choices with every new start.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvGaSPTcTxc?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvGaSPTcTxc?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

These choices naturally extend to combat, which offers a frankly astounding level of detail and variety. You’ll start off with your standard sword and bow (or shield if you prefer), but you’ll slowly unlock blueprints for powerful flaming swords, ice bows, elemental attacks, bear traps, turrets, grenades, and more.

Your loadout will often come down to the items you discover during a run, which gently nudges you to try out new tactics with every fresh attempt. With that said, if you are set in your ways and know that ice attacks, a quick sword, and a turret is all you need for a good time, then if you scout an area hard enough you’ll usually find something along the lines of what you’re looking for. Even when you can’t though, adapting to new approaches is all part of the fun.

Combat itself is absolutely incredible, by the way. Slicker than an oiled up Danny Devito, scrapping in Dead Cells is a deadly ballet of dodges, melee attacks, and ranged moves. Your two standard weapons are joined by two special items – the aforementioned turrets and grenades.

Not only are these fantastic tools for clearing a crowd of enemies without ever getting your hands dirty, you’ll find that they also have a super generous cooldown time, which means you can, for example, throw freeze grenades, roll behind opponents, and slice them to pieces till your heart’s content. This is currently my favourite tactic, by the way.

There are various enemies lurking throughout the game, all with their own unique attack patterns for you to learn and master. Once again, the more you play, the easier you’ll find even the more formidable of foes as you discover the best techniques for dealing with them swiftly, and without mercy. That’s not to say the game doesn’t remain a constant challenge however – the second you start to get complacent, Dead Cells will beat your face into the pavement and remind you who’s boss.

    Dead Cells Review 256b98bb 9570173

To sum up then, Dead Cells is a towering success on every level. Motion Twin have managed to smoosh together two genres that should never, ever have worked together, and created an utterly captivating, constantly changing arcade-style adventure.

The idea of playing through areas over and over again had me groaning when I first heard about it, but in practice there’s more than enough variety in the weapons, secrets and enemies you discover on your journey – helped by some first rate combat and level design – that ensures I genuinely cannot put this game down.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I was cut down far too soon on my last attempt. And you know what they say – if at first you don’t succeed, stab things with your flaming ninja blade till you get the result you want.

  • Leak Claims ‘5 v 5’ Mode Is Back For FIFA 19 And We Basically Have FIFA Street Again

Leak Claims ‘5 v 5’ Mode Is Back For FIFA 19 And We Basically Have FIFA Street Again

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

If the World Cup wasn’t enough for you, and the Premier League starting again this month still doesn’t fill your football fantasies, how does the new FIFA 19 sound?

A new FIFA for the new season is always a treat, right? Incidentally, does anyone remember FIFA ’94?

Anyway. The good news is that FIFA 19 is arriving shortly, and if rumours are to be believed, it’s going to have some great new features, as well as bringing back some absolute classics.

    Check out the trailer here:

One of the biggest new features in the game will be the arrival of a Champions League mode. However, there’s one new addition which, if true, will definitely excite FIFA fans new and old.

Images are surfacing online of the highly anticipated 5 v 5 mode. If you’re anything like me and you’ve often thought there’s simply too many people on the pitch, this new feature is really going to butter your bread roll.

The 5-a-side feature looks like it’s taking its cue from the 2005’s FIFA Street, in which famous players were matched against one another in a fast-paced, old-school environment, with an emphasis on skill and tricks.

It has also been rumoured that the new mode will have a ‘last man standing’ feature, in which every goal scored results in a player on the opposing team leaving the pitch until, you guessed it, you’re left with the last man standing.

As well as the usual option of customising players, the updated career mode in the new game will feature an option to customise managers too, and even have them host press conferences.

In an interview with USGamer, FIFA’s creative director Matthew Prior spoke about what to expect from the game’s new features.

    He said:

I think this time, career mode is the most authentic it’s ever been. So that in itself is a big update, and not just the fact that it’s in there, but the way we’ve implemented it.

The whole UI takeover, the cinematic scenes within the UI showing the Europa League draw. It’s not just Champions League, it’s Europa. So I think the integration of that, just in and of itself, is all we can really talk about right now.

It is a sufficiently big change to career mode that people will kind of love it because it is now 100 percent authentic.

One of the big changes to the playing of the game itself is the ‘active touch system’, which, according to EA Sports:

Fundamentally changes the way you receive and strike the ball, providing closer control, improved fluidity, more creativity and increased player personality.

The new game will be available in ultimate, champions or standard edition, as well as a Nintendo Switch edition.

  • Parents Paying ‘Fortnite’ Coaches Over £25 An Hour To Train Their Kids

Parents Paying ‘Fortnite’ Coaches Over £25 An Hour To Train Their Kids

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Some parents are paying over £25 an hour for their children to be coached to play the video game Fornite

While the hype to have ‘#1 Victory Royale’ pop up on your screen seems to have worn off a bit, there’s still many people who spend hours playing Fortnite.

A lot of parents no doubt get frustrated when their child is stuck in front of a computer screen for hours on end, and probably roll their eyes when they see the animated characters burst out into their victory dance.

The Wall Street Journal found that there are some people out there who are spending real money to help improve their children’s Fortnite playing skills, by hiring professional Fortnite coaches.

Now, I’m not exactly sure how someone comes to be classified as a ‘Fortnite coach’ – surely they’ve just played the game a lot? I think I know a lot of people who could, and would be more than happy to, take on that role.

One mother from Winchester hired a coach to train her son on the game in the hopes that it would help him improve, and alleviate some of the pressure felt to be good at the game.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, she said:

There’s pressure not to just play it but to be really good at it. You can imagine what that was like for him at school.

I suppose it’s only like fuelling a hobby such as football or dancing lessons – just, it’s the computer characters that are getting the healthy exercise, rather than the children.

The coaches usually charge between £11 and £26 an hour for the passing of their Fortnite wisdom, and were scouted by parents from social media, contracting sites, or even whole sites dedicated to coaching, such as Gamer Sensei.

I can imagine it’s all very Karate Kid. Move the mouse like you’re waxing the car. That’ll be £10 please.

Some of the parents who paid for their children’s Fortnite classes have bigger dreams than simply giving their kid bragging rights.

They have hopes that their children’s newfound skills will lead to them having e-sports careers, or a scholarship for university.

In some cases, parents are hoping the money spent on lessons will come back in the form of winnings from Epic Games’ $100 million prize for competitive playing.

Despite this almost acceptable reasoning behind the lessons, even the Fortnite coaches are surprised at the fact the parents are willing to shell out.

18-year-old Fortnite coach and professional gamer Logan Werner said:

My dad would have never paid for me to take video game lessons.

Mine either, Logan. The closest my dad came to helping me win a video game was when he’d complete the quidditch challenge for me on Harry Potter for PS2.

A lot of people have mixed opinions about this use of coaches for children, and took to social media to share:

However, the parents are defending their choices, insisting that paying for a Fortnite coach is the same as paying for private lessons in any other skill.

I bet they’re praying that their kids don’t get bored of the game as soon as a new one comes out. I’m sure they’d be regretting paying for those Fortnite lessons if their child’s school scholarship plan falls through…

  • Pro Gamer Dumps ‘World’s Sexiest Weather Girl’ To Play More Call Of Duty

Pro Gamer Dumps ‘World’s Sexiest Weather Girl’ To Play More Call Of Duty

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

A professional video gamer has dumped his girlfriend so he can spend more time playing Call of Duty.

Let me just reiterate the intro for you in case you thought I was pulling your leg.

A man has left his girlfriend – who the internet has dubbed the ‘world’s sexiest weather girl’ – so he can dedicate more time to playing video games. Good to see he’s got his priorities in order.

The gamer in question is YouTube star, Douglas ‘FaZe Censor’ Martin, who revealed in his latest video, he dumped his girlfriend – weather forecaster, Yanet Garcia – so he could focus on professional gaming on a full-time basis.

Look, I love video games… a lot. I would never disparage the culture as gaming helped me through some difficult moments in my life. These days, when I switch on my PlayStation 4, it’s a form of therapy/release after a long day or week (unless I’m playing something on the hardest setting – then it’s stress galore).

But as much as I love it, I would never put it above a relationship.

Yet this is the choice Martin has made and the decision has left Garcia ‘heartbroken’.

Martin addressed the breakup in his latest video, where he confirmed ‘Yanet and I are no longer in a relationship’.

    He said:

Yanet is an awesome girl, she deserves the best. She’s beautiful, she’s smart, she was an awesome girlfriend.

I know it sounds weird I’m saying all this…it’s just, I gotta do what feels right for me.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVwdLfjYM6E?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281][youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVwdLfjYM6E?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

In the video, he reveals how he flew ‘all the way out to Mexico’ from New York three years ago, in order to meet her. They soon started to date and Yanet moved to New York for a year.

However, things changed when Yanet decided to go back to Mexico to continue her job as a weather girl and to pursue a career in acting and modelling.

    He went on to say:

Since the breakup, Garcia, who has an estimated 6.5 million followers on Instagram, posted a few tweets about her heartbreak and thanked her fans for supporting her at this difficult moment in her life.

She also appeared to have a final dig at her ex-boyfriend by posting a subliminal tweet in Spanish, which translates to:

Never listen to the advice of a person who has not done anything good with his life.

Damn, relationships can be as messy as hell.

Good luck to the both of them!

  • Warning Issued As Kids Game Is Flooded With X-Rated Videos

Warning Issued As Kids Game Is Flooded With X-Rated Videos

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

YouTube has been spammed with explicit sex videos created using the children’s game Roblox

The revelation comes a mere day after a mum found her seven-year-old daughter’s Roblox character being ‘gang raped’ in the game.

Similar to Minecraft, Roblox is aimed at children and allows players to create their own mini-games and virtual worlds.

However, in the past week or so, salacious trolls have exploited the game in order to invent a world where, sexually speaking, anything goes.

Searching ‘Roblox sex’ on YouTube will deliver hundreds of XXX videos, one of which features a female avatar titled ‘f***ing my sister on Roblox’.

Speaking to The Sun, Andy Burrows, the NSPCC Associate Head of Child Safety Online, said:

It’s blindingly obvious a game aimed at kids as young as seven shouldn’t expose them to graphic sexual content.

Gaming platforms need to be moderated properly so that young children are not exposed to such inappropriate material.

It’s just as worrying that YouTube is hosting these videos that can be easily accessed by children. It shows why tough Government regulation to force social networks and sites to keep children safe is needed, with proper consequences for those that fail.

A YouTube spokesperson responded to the videos:

YouTube’s Community Guidelines clearly state that sexually explicit content is not allowed on our site.

We remove flagged videos and channels that violate our policies, and in some cases, we age restrict material that, while not in violation of those guidelines, contains images that may be unsuitable for younger users.

Earlier this week, mum Amber Petersen from North Carolina revealed how ‘traumatised and violated’ she was after seeing her daughter being ‘gang raped’ on the iPad version game.

In a post on Facebook, she wrote:

My sweet and innocent daughter’s avatar was being violently gang-raped on a playground by two males.

Thankfully, I was able to take screenshots of what I was witnessing so people will realise just how horrific this experience was.

Parents/Caregivers…not only do I urge you to DELETE THIS APP, I hope you will take another look at all of your devices and their security settings.

The game’s creators say they actively remove explicit content. That they protect players’ safety by proactively filtering inappropriate content and acting against anyone who is in violation of our Rules of Conduct.

‘All uploaded images, video, and audio files are pre-reviewed by moderators before being allowed on the site,’ the team claim.

‘Our global moderation team is also online around the clock addressing any incoming concerns as reported by players.’

Let’s hope this filth is removed ASAP from YouTube and Roblox so that it can go back to being the child-friendly game it was designed to be.

  • Airport Adds Gaming Lounge So You Can Play While Waiting For Your Plane

Airport Adds Gaming Lounge So You Can Play While Waiting For Your Plane

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

An airport in America has solved the age-old problem of boredom at an airport by introducing a gaming lounge.

Picture the scene: you’re in the departure lounge, there are four hours to kill before you board your flight and you need to do something to preoccupy your brain from the mind-numbing monotony of waiting.

If you happen to be at the DFW Airpot in Dallas-Fort Worth you’re in luck…

The international airport is said to be the fourth busiest airport in the world (via aircraft movements) and the twelfth busiest airport for passenger traffic, so adding a gaming lounge for passengers waiting for their flight is pure genius.

While it may have flown under the radar of the gaming community, one person was so impressed with what he saw, he took a picture and uploaded it to a Reddit thread dedicated to gaming.

    According to website Carpe Diem!:

Gameway has opened the FIRST EVER video game lounge in the airport (DFW) where passengers can play on the Xbox One with only the newest and best games pre-downloaded, leather chair, noise cancelling headphones, 4K tv, and a place to charge your phone/tablet.

I can picture it now, scores of dedicated gamers flooding into DFW airport’s gaming lounge to ‘kill some time’ while they wait for their flight, only to find out later it left over an hour ago. It’s a gift and a curse, a double-edged sword if you will.

While the idea of a gaming lounge is brilliant, there’s a danger it could encourage habitual traits which are tough to break.

On June 18 addiction to video games was officially classed as a mental health condition, meaning those diagnosed with the condition could receive treatment from the NHS.

Some people find themselves particularly drawn to video games, wanting to do nothing other than play on their console, and even possibly giving up basic needs to ensure they don’t have to put down the controller.

As this problem becomes more widely recognised, the World Health Organisation (WHO) listed ‘gaming disorder’ in its International Classification of Diseases for the first time.

This addition to the list means this type of behaviour is now being considered much more seriously.

While you might find yourself turning to video games quite often, this doesn’t necessarily mean you have an addiction.

The WHO explains, those who experience the disorder give priority to gaming over other interests and activities:

The exhibit a pattern of gaming behavior (“digital-gaming” or “video-gaming”) characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences.

To be diagnosed with the disorder, you must ‘experience significant impairment in personal, family, social educational, occupational or other important areas of function, and have experienced this type of impairment for at least one year’.

  • Casting Has Started For Netflix’s The Witcher Series

Casting Has Started For Netflix’s The Witcher Series

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

There are some shows that have hype thrust upon them because no one knows exactly what to expect, but people get excited nonetheless.

Then there are shows that are hyped because they already exist in other formats, and fans just can’t wait to see characters they already know transformed for the screen.

One such show which falls into the latter category, is The Witcher. Already a series of short stories, novels and (perhaps most well-known) video games, the saga is now getting the Netflix treatment, and though details are scarce so far, fans are getting excited.

Written by Andrzej Sapkowski, the first Witcher story came out in 1993 and new instalments have been been released steadily ever since, so there’s a lot of material to go off for the Netflix series.

Lead writer, showrunner and executive producer of the series, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, has been keeping fans on their toes by tweeting snippets of details of the new series.

    For example:

She has also shared details of the upcoming casting process that is already underway, Forbes reports.

When auditioning for new shows, actors usually read a script from the show’s pilot episode. However, things are being done a bit differently for The Witcher.

In a series of tweets, Hissrich said:

Let’s talk casting. Yes, I said the magic word! Casting is starting soon, and no, I can’t tell you who our top picks are so don’t ask. But. There is something very important you need to know.

Normally, when casting a show, the casting director pulls character-specific scenes from the pilot script for actors’ auditions. However, because we’re casting internationally (which means lots of emails and self-tapes) and because we know by now the internet keeps no secrets…

The writing staff has instead created entirely new scenes for our main characters. These are written to illustrate the precise tone, vibe, depth, and emotional resonance we need from Geralt and friends… but voila! They are spoiler-free, for us and for you. Which means…

If you start seeing Witcher scenes floating around the internet in the coming weeks — yes, they’re probably real! But no, they won’t give anything away as to the stories we’re telling, or the ways we’re telling them. You’re safe. For now.

And hells yes, his name is Jaskier.

While no actors have officially been linked to the project, it’s clear that things are well under way with the series. And Hissrich’s tweets are doing a good job of keeping eager fans interested.

Netflix itself hasn’t said much about the upcoming adaptation. On their website, however, there is a brief description of the show.

    It reads:

The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

And while the page also lists a 2018 release date, an official release date is yet to be confirmed. In fact, it’s more likely to be a little while longer, as Hissrich suggested the show will appear in 2020, but followed it up with ‘Who knows?!’

Whether the series comes sooner or later, the hype is certainly building.

  • Video Game Addiction Now Officially Classified As Mental Health Condition

Video Game Addiction Now Officially Classified As Mental Health Condition

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Video game addicts can now be treated for free by the NHS as video game addiction has been officially classified as a mental health condition.

We all know someone who could afford to spend a little less time playing video games. Whether it’s friends not wanting to hang out because they’ve just downloaded a new game, or you yourself spending hours repeating the same level until you finally complete it, video games can often be hard to put down. For some players though, it’s more extreme than simply being reluctant to stop playing.

Some gamers find themselves particularly drawn to video games, wanting to do nothing but play, and even possibly giving up basic needs to ensure they don’t have to put down the controller.

As this problem becomes more widely recognised, the World Health Organisation has listed ‘gaming disorder’ in its International Classification of Diseases for the first time. This addition to the list means this type of behaviour is now being considered much more seriously.

While you might find yourself turning to video games quite often, this doesn’t necessarily mean you have the addiction.

The WHO explain that those who experience the disorder give priority to gaming over other interests and activities.

A pattern of gaming behavior (“digital-gaming” or “video-gaming”) characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences.

To be diagnosed with the disorder, you must ‘experience significant impairment in personal, family, social educational, occupational or other important areas of function’, and have experienced this type of impairment for at least one year to be diagnosed.

One mother shared her experience with gaming disorder as she had to send her daughter to rehab for her gaming addiction.

Speaking to The Mirror, the mother of the 9-year-old explained how her daughter had become so addicted to the video game Fortnite, she wet herself in order to keep playing.

The girl reportedly got up in the night to play the game until morning secretly, hit her father in the face when he tried to confiscate her Xbox console, and fell asleep in class after sacrificing sleep to play the game.

    The mother said

We had no idea, when we let her play the game, of the addictive nature or the impact it could have on her mental health.

She is in therapy for the addiction after she became withdrawn, agitated and disturbed from playing up to ten hours a day – sometimes playing until dawn, wetting herself so she didn’t have to leave the screen.

This is a serious issue which is destroying our little girl’s life and someone needs to step in to ban it before it becomes an epidemic.

The decision to add gaming disorder to the WHO‘s International Classification of Diseases comes amid increasing evidence that young gamers are suffering psychological distress and family breakdown because of their addictions, the Telegraph reports.

Dr Vladimir Poznyak from the WHO’s Mental Health and Substance Abuse department spoke to the Telegraph about the disorder. He said that although undiagnosed, studies suggest between 1% and 6% of adolescents and young people may suffer from gaming addiction.

The classification of gaming disorder means those that suffer from it will be entitled to treatment from the NHS.

  • Gamer Who Fought ISIS Thanks Call Of Duty For Shooting Skills

Gamer Who Fought ISIS Thanks Call Of Duty For Shooting Skills

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

A 24-year-old who quit his job, sold his car and travelled to Syria to fight ISIS has said his time spent playing Call of Duty is to thank for his combat skills.

John Duttenhofer says playing first-person shooter games for up to 13 hours a day gave him an understanding of weapons and taught him the basic combat skills which he then used in real life.

The 24-year-old traveled to Syria in April to take up arms with the Kurds after ditching his job in customer service at a software company.

He spent six months fighting ISIS in Raqqa alongside the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, or YPG, during which time the city was liberated.

John decided to return to the US after suffering the loss of his close friend Jac Holmes, 24, a British IT worker who was killed in an explosion last October.

Speaking for the first time since he returned to Colorado on Monday, he told how he whiled away his days playing Dungeons and Dragons, reading and chatting.

By night, he went deep into the city with an AK-47 alongside a sniper unit of Kurdish soldiers as they occupied empty buildings and shot at ISIS fighters in a bid to advance.

John said that war reenactment games like Call of Duty taught him practical skills which he used to survive and meant he was already familiar with weapons.

    He said:

I decided to go to Syria after I saw reports about what ISIS were doing.

I thought it was pretty f*cked up.

My mom tried to persuade me to stay but she knew that fighting me would just make me go more rushed and unprepared.

When I told one of my best friends he was just like, ‘Hell yeah, go do it,’ and said it sounded amazing.

On one hand, I selfishly wanted to fight ISIS. On the other I wanted to be a part of something that was historical and groundbreaking.

I wasn’t scared of dying or anything like that.

Video games prepared me in a way for knowing strategies and how not to get killed, like how to use cover and not to stand in the open.

John revealed that he would spend up to 13 hours a day playing video games ‘like it was nothing’. Of course, he’s well aware that a video game is nothing like real life situations.

    He said:

I don’t think you can really draw a comparison between the mental state of mind of playing a game and going out and potentially losing your life.

In a game you will get shot and you quickly learn if you are killed, but in real life you just die.

John decided to go to Syria at the end of 2015 after reading about atrocities committed by fighters from the so-called Islamic State and the fight for Raqqa.

He sold his car, saved $7,000, got fit by cycling to work and bought binoculars, weapon slings, AK-47 magazines and chapstick on Amazon before setting off on April 23, 2017.

John is now back at home with his parents and trying to adapt back in to ‘normal’ life.
