Diese Apps wurden von Grund auf für Xbox One entwickelt und Microsoft ermutigt alle Partner ihre Apps mit Media Achievements oder Snap-Unterstützung aufzuwerten. Spieler oder Entertainment-Freunde profitieren so von exklusiven Abzeichen oder Belohnung für ihren Medienkonsum – zusätzliche zu denen, die sie auch beim Spielen verdienen können. Xbox One ist zudem das einzige Gaming- und Entertainment-System, das HDMI pass through ermöglicht.

    Heute wurden die ersten Partnerschaften aus der Unterhaltungsbranche angekündigt. Neben Xbox Fitness, Xbox Video, Xbox Music, Internet Explorer, Skype, SkyDrive und Upload, werden zwischen dem Launch am 22. November und Frühling 2014  Apps von Eurosport, Machinima, MUZU TV, TED und Twitch für Xbox One in Österreich verfügbar sein.

     

    Auf diese erste Ankündigung von Partnern von Xbox One, werden weitere folgen, das App-Angebot für Xbox 360 und Xbox One wird  laufend erweitert.

    In order to properly demonstrate the framerate and resolution we achieve in Shadow Fall’s multiplayer, we’ve captured and lightly compressed new footage that we’re not offering through a video sharing service. Instead, we ask that you download and locally view the high-resolution, uncompressed footage directly from from us.

    Important note: Please use a video player with hardware acceleration when viewing the footage. We recommend Windows Media Player for Windows users and QuickTime Player for Mac users. Do not use a non-accelerated player (such as VLC Media Player) because the framerate and resolution of this movie are simply too high and will likely cause choppy playback.

    The video you just saw has been captured from a multiplayer match on “The Park,” which is situated firmly behind enemy lines near the Visari tribute statue.

    As you can probably tell from the footage, Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer outputs at a native 1080p, rendering uncapped but always targeting 60 FPS. We’re very pleased with how well the game runs, and we can’t wait for you to play it come November 15th.

    Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that the company sold more than $1 billion of Call of Duty®: Ghosts into shops worldwide as of day one.

    „Call of Duty is by far the largest console franchise of this generation,“ said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. „More people have played Call of Duty this year than ever before, logging four billion hours of gameplay. And in the last 12 months, Call of Duty®: Black Ops II, including its digital content, generated more revenues than any other console game ever has in a single year.     Millions of people are already playing Call of Duty: Ghosts online. Since its release yesterday, Call of Duty: Ghosts has moved to the #1 spot as the most played game on Xbox Live, according to Microsoft. Additionally, Activision confirmed that on the Xbox 360 videogames and entertainment system from Microsoft, average player sessions for Ghosts have been longer than either Black Ops II or Call of Duty®:Modern Warfare® 3, during the same time period.

    Call of Duty: Ghosts launched at 15,000 midnight openings around the world. Fans around the world shared their excitement in social media, with Call of Duty-related terms trending an astounding 20 times globally on Twitter in the last 24 hours.

    „Ghosts is an amazing game which ushers in the next generation of Call of Duty. The team at Infinity Ward has delivered yet another epic thrill ride in the campaign, and what I think is our best multiplayer game yet,“ said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. „This is the must have launch title for the next generation of consoles, and we expect Call of Duty: Ghosts to be the most successful launch title for the Xbox One and PS4 by a wide margin.     Revolution has just confirmed that Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse will be released for PC, Mac and Linux in two episodes. The first one will arrive on December 4 and it will cost £9.99 at launch. The second episode will arrive in January with the same price, but you can buy both episodes for just £14.99.

    Remember that this game was funded on Kickstarter with $850.000 and it will be released also for PS Vita, iOS and Android.

    According to Charles Cecil from Revolution:

    “Whilst this is very much a classic Broken Sword game in terms of production values and sense of adventure, we’re really breaking new ground with The Serpent’s Curse.”

    “The success of our Kickstarter appeal has allowed us to be hugely ambitious – each episode is a full sized game in its own right.     Plot

    In the present day, the unnamed player character is hired by Abstergo Entertainment to gather footage from the Animus to make an immersive film experience. Samples taken from Desmond Miles in the moments after his death have allowed Abstergo to continue to access his genetic memories. The player starts by delving into the memories of Edward Kenway, an eighteenth-century pirate.

    Kenway’s story starts in England where he lives an unhappy life as a pesant. He dreams of a life as a privateer, which causes friction with his wife, Caroline. Caroline leaves him, predicting that Kenway’s ambitions will eventually drive his loved ones away. With nothing keeping him in England, Kenway sets off for the Caribbean.

    His adventure as a privateer is short-lived and he quickly turns to piracy. His ship attacks a passing vessel, but his crew are killed, and he is shipwrecked a hundred leagues from Havana. The only other survivor is Duncan Walpole, a rogue Assassin who claims to be on an errand of vital importance and asks Kenway to escort him. When Kenway questions Walpole’s ability to pay, Walpole accuses him of piracy, and Kenway is forced to kill him. Kenway assumes Walpole’s identity and completes his errand to Havana. There he meets Laureano Torres, the Governor of Havana; Woodes Rogers, an emissary of the British Empire; and Julien de Casse, a French aristocrat and privateer. The three are high-ranking Templars seeking the Observatory, a Precursor construct that can be used for mass surveillance and mind control. To do this, they have located the Sage, the only person capable of locating the Observatory. Unaware of the dangers posed by this conspiracy, Kenway sees this as an opportunity for profit. He attempts to question the Sage, but is caught by Torres and sent to a prison convoy. Kenway escapes custody with the help of Adéwalé, a Barbadian plantation worker. They commandeer a frigate that Kenway christens the Jackdaw and escape to Nassau.

    Once in Nassau, Kenway meets Ed Thatch, Benjamin Hornigold, Charles Vane, Jack Rackham and James Kidd; pirates who dream of turning Nassau into a free state. Kenway assists them, killing de Casse and stealing a large warship with which to defend Nassau. He is approached by Kidd, who directs him to a settlement on the Yucatan Peninsula that is inhabited by the Assassins. The Assassins are not welcoming, and have Kenway confirm the identity of the Sage before sending him away. However, Kenway’s recklessness has revealed the location of the settlement to the Templars, and the Assassins are overwhelmed in the ensuing attack.

    Kenway decides to seek out the Sage himself. Learning that Torres has been redirecting supply colonies to a sea fort in eastern Cuba, Kenway leads an assault on the fortress, capturing it before the convoy arrives and taking Torres hostage. Torres admits that the Sage has been abducted and that he has laundered money from the Spanish Empire to pay the ransom. Kenway follows the trail to Kingston, where he infiltrates a manor owned a Laurens Prins, a notorious slave trader. He discovers that Kidd and the Assassins are also targeting Prins, and the two form a temporary alliance that ends in disaster when the Sage overpowers Kidd and takes him hostage, revealing that he is working with the Templars. Kidd and Kenway narrowly escape and regroup. Kidd reveals that he is actually Mary Read, and disguises himself as a man to pass unnoticed.

    Meanwhile, the free state of Nassau is dangerously close to collapse, with disease and squalor running rampant, morale at an all-time low and no economy to speak of. The founders are deeply divided on every issue, with Benjamin Hornigold in favour of accepting a pardon and unconditional surrender from the British, Charles Vane insisting that Nassau is simply experiencing a downturn and that it can survive in the long term, Ed Thatch resorting to taking supplies from the British by force, and Jack Rackham spending most of his time drunk. Kenway attempts to solve the problems in a way that satisfies everyone, but the divide is too deep. Hornigold accepts the pardon and joins the Templars, then betrays Kenway and Thatch by leading them into an ambush that sees Thatch killed. Rackham seizes the opportunity to stage a mutiny, taking the Jackdaw and marooning Kenway and Vane on an isolated island. Kenway is forced to kill Vane when Vane is driven mad before he is rescued by a passing ship. He recovers the Jackdaw after Rackham proves to be an incompetent captain.

    Kenway continues his pursuit of the Sage, following him to the island of Principe off the coast of Africa. Freeing him from the Templars, the Sage accepts Kenway’s help and introduces himself as Bartholomew Roberts. The two work together to locate the Observatory, on the north coast of Jamaica. Roberts reveals that it is a machine capable of showing the user the world through the eyes of a subject. He overpowers Kenway, admitting that he owes no alleigence to the Templars or to the Assassins, and instead aligns himself with whoever he thinks will help him achieve his ends. Kenway escapes, but is weakened an recaptured by Roberts, who hands him over to Torres and Rogers to collect the bounty on Kenway’s head.

    Torres and Rogers offer Kenway his freedom in exchange for his help locating the Observatory. Kenway refuses, and the Templars use their position to sentence him to suffer without dying. Four months later, Kenway is rescued by Ah Tabei, the leader of the Assassins, to carry out a prison break and rescue Mary Read. Mary is found to be sick, and dies before they can escape. Edward’s obsession with the Observatory prompts Adéwalé to leave and join the Assassins. In an alcohol-induced stupor, he realises that Caroline’s prediction has come true and that his relentless pursuit of riches has driven everyone away.

    Kenway returns to the Assassins, where his new-found self-awareness convinces Ah Tabei that he is ready to become an Assassin. Together, they plan to stop the Templar conspiracy before they can take control of the Observatory. Disguising himself as the Italian ambassador to Jamaica, he kills Woodes Rogers at a party in Kingston. He follows Roberts back to Principe and storms his ship, The Royal Fortune. Finally, he returns to Havana to kill Torres, only to discover that Torres already knows the location of the Observatory. Kenway races to stop Torres before he can activate the machine, overcoming the Observatory’s defence systems and finally kill him. The Assassins take control of the Observatory, whilst Kenway receives a letter informing him that Caroline has died, and that she was pregnant when she left him. The story ends with Kenway meeting his daughter Jennifer for the first time.

    In the present day, the player’s research task is interrupted by his employers, who keep directing him to concentrate on locating the Observatory. The player is contacted by someone inside Abstergo Entertainment’s information technology department, who forces they player to run errands for him. The IT manager arranges for the player to access the Animus‘ cloud drive system, where Juno materialises before the player. She reveals that although it was necessary to open her temple to avert disaster, she was not and is not ready to join the world, and refuses to possess the player. The IT manager, revealed to be a reincarnated form of Bartholomew Roberts, attempts to murder the player to cover up the failed attempt to revive Juno, but is killed by Abstrego’s security forces. The company apologises to the player before they are remotely contacted by Shaun and Rebecca, who request the player uses their new-found security clearance to aid them by continuing to hack Abstergo Entertainment’s computers.

    That’s right, Batman: Arkham Origins was released in a state that for some players rendered it unplayable.

    Warner Bros. Games Montreal is well aware of the issues, apologized and promised „major fixes“ „within the next week.“

    Here’s the official statement posted on the game’s forums, which also outlines all the major bugs on all platforms (it looks like they won’t solve all of them):

    „Hello,

    We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who has joined us since the launch of the game. We appreciate the fan support and also want to thank all the people in the field who have sent us their saved games as they have been invaluable in helping us identify the problems.

    It has come to our attention that there are issues that are negatively impacting the experience for some players. The team has been working around the clock to review, validate and pinpoint the problems that have been reported and we have identified three main issues which we are tackling first, and are listed below. For these issues, we expect the software update to be available within the next week. Rest assured, we are continuing to monitor all channels for other issues that players are experiencing and will release additional updates as they become available.

    1) Infinite Falling/Falling Out Of World – All platforms

    Some players have been stuck in an endless loop of falling, making it impossible to complete certain missions and progress through the single-player campaign. We believe we have identified the issue and are currently testing the software update, which will push most players back to their previous save so that they will not be stuck in an infinite loop.

    2) Unable To Continue Story – All Platforms

    Some players can see their story progress in the main menu, but once they choose the story slot they don’t see an option to “Continue” and only “New Game” shows up. This issue should be resolved and the “Continue” option will once again be available.

    3) FreeFlow Focus mode not unlocking upon reaching “Shadow Vigilante” rank 3 will be fixed – All Platforms

    Specific to the PC, an update that addresses the above issues, as well as the following, recently went live:

    1) Fix for progression blocker keeping some players from navigating through the vent in the Burnley tower.

    We have not yet solved the following rare issues and are continuing to investigate.

    1) Corrupted Saves – Xbox 360 only

    Players have reported losing their saved game to data corruption. Specifically, when you try to choose a story slot to continue, it says “Corrupted” and if you select it, an error message appears which says, “The save is corrupt. Please delete it.” We believe we know what is causing this and need a few more days to validate before pushing a patch through.

    2) Ongoing Crashing/Freezing Issues – Xbox 360 only

    Players have reported recurring crashing and freezing while playing the game. We have been working hard to track down and resolve the problem as quickly as possible. We believe we know what is causing these issues and need a few more days to validate before pushing this patch through. In the meantime, some players have managed to avoid the freezing by disconnecting their console from the Internet while playing.

    NOTE: Your console or PC must be connected to the Internet in order to receive any updates. When connected, the updates will be automatically applied when you start up the game while connected to PlayStation Network, Xbox Live or Steam.

    As explained in the new policy document, data captured through the Xbox One Kinect camerawill not leave the console.

    According to it, „expressions“ data is automatically destroyed at end of every session, andMicrosoft assures that it’s not shared with third-parties.

    However, for certain games and apps, like Xbox Fitness, Kinect will track skeletal movements to determine exercise statistics. Players will decide if they want them to be shared outside of the console.

    And, there’s more:

    No one would be able to look at these numbers and determine that it represents the player in question, Microsoft said. In addition, the company assured that this authentication data stays on the Xbox One and is not shared with third-parties.

    Microsoft also pointed out that players are in control of photographs taken by Kinect during gameplay and whether the system captures voice commands. The Kinect can be turned off at any time, Microsoft reminded players.

    For certain games and apps, like Xbox Fitness, the Kinect will track skeletal movements to determine exercise statistics. Players can determine how these data points are managed and if they want them to be shared outside of the console.

    The Xbox One Kinect privacy document also touches on the system’s new „Expressions“ capability, which allows players to use a defined facial expression to control or influence a game. According to Microsoft, this data „does not identify you,“ stays on the local console, and is „destroyed“ once a session ends.

    In the case of the Xbox One’s new GameDVR feature, during multiplayer matches, any participant can capture gameplay, which may include a player’s in-game character or gamertag. However, audio chat is not recorded for GameDVR clips, Microsoft said.

    GameDVR on Xbox One will have three distinct privacy settings for captured content:

    • Blocked – Not viewable by anyone, but you. Game clips don’t appear in anyone else’s activity feeds.
    • Friends only – Viewable by only your friends. Game clips only appears in your friends activity feeds.
    • Everybody – Viewable by anyone; game clips appear in activity feeds for friends.

    Users are free to delete game clips from their profiles at any time. In addition, parents can control sharing within the GameDVR settings. Sharing for children is automatically set to to Blocked.

    Concerning voice chat through Kinect, Microsoft said, „You should not expect any level of privacy concerning your use of the live communication features such as voice chat, video, and communications in live-hosted gameplay sessions offered through the services.“ Microsoft said it may monitor these communications „to the extent permitted by law,“ but made clear that it cannot monitor the entire service and makes no attempt to do so.

    „Please note that Xbox does not listen in on Skype calls,“ Microsoft said.

    In the „Children and Parental Consent“ tab in the Xbox One privacy statement, Electronic Arts, Xseed Games, and Disney Interactive are listed as third-parties that may collect personal information, though the extent to which they may do so is unclear.

    Nintendo Video is ready to launch a fresh lineup of great new shows for the fall. The free video application for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems will debut new short-form videos starting Nov. 1 that will continue into 2014. Five new series have been slated, including two featuring The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HDand Pikmin 3.

    Owners who have downloaded the Nintendo Video application from the Nintendo eShop will automatically receive the new shows on their device, including:

    • The Legend of Zelda: The Misadventures of Link: This original series of comedic shorts shows Link, the series‘ star, in a new and hysterical light. His surroundings will be familiar to fans of the series, since the shorts are based on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD game for the Wii U console.
    • Pikmin Nature Documentaries: These „nature documentaries“ explore the wonderful world of the tiny Pikmin. The animations, highlighted by dramatic voiceover work, are a tongue-in-cheek take on safari nature shows.
    • Bravest Warriors: The latest hit show created by Pendleton Ward, the mind behind Adventure Time, follows four teenage heroes-for-hire as they warp through galaxies to save adorable aliens and their worlds using the power of their emotions. The series is produced by Frederator Studios and launched on the Cartoon Hangover channel on YouTube. New episodes of Bravest Warriors will appear every Friday on Nintendo Video.
    • Wildheart Riukiu: This new series of 3D shorts comes from the creator of Meat or Die, which has already amassed more than 5 million views on Nintendo Video. Wildheart Riukiu incorporates charming 16-bit graphics with some not-so-charming, but hilarious, characters. Think ninja puppets.
    • Bee and PuppyCat: A Cartoon Hangover Shorts fan favorite, this two-part series by Natasha Allegri follows Bee, an out-of-work 20-something who has a life-changing collision with a mysterious creature she names PuppyCat.

    „This latest set of great new shows for Nintendo Video gives fans a unique way to enjoy two of their favorite Nintendo franchises, in addition to hand-picked series from some of the most imaginative and successful creators in the world of animation,“ said Tony Elison, Nintendo of America’s senior director of Business Development.

    According to a NeoGaf user with ‚insider‘ info, the new console’s Xbox Live and its OS will be VERY buggy at launch.

    According to NeoGaf user ‚famousmortimer‘, who supposedly has contacted insider sources, the Xbox One OS is months away from working properly.

    The source claims the console’s OS and Xbox Live are set to launch in a buggy state and it could be months before these systems are functioning as they should be…

    The short story is that Xbox Live and the OS, especially in functions that involve XBL, are a complete fucking mess. One source says we aren’t talking weeks until it works correctly but “months.” Things like parties dropping people when moving from one thing to another. Connectivity issues. Missed invites. Friend requests not working, etc.

    He then said “If all you are doing is running a game and that’s the only app things are fine.”

    So why do think things are going wrong?

    “The system OS and network integration was written by a group of people who do not play games. They don’t understand why things were set up in the ways they were designed by J Allard back in ’05.”

    So… what changed?

    “Let me get into some technical detail regarding it – on 360, the OS handles all of the party and chat functionality. All you do is hook up the XBL VOiP OS API into your game, and it does most of the work for you. With it results in is a shared experience across multiple entertainment. If you’re watching movies or playing games, you can do it together. However, this system is entirely different on Xbox One. So, lets say me, you, and Thuway have xbox one’s that are online. We are signed in our profiles. Sitting at the home screen, we are considered to be in a “Xbox Party” on the server. There are no more ‘party leaders’. With that said if any one of us decide to start a game, the party is shifted over to that game’s party system. Each game now has their custom written VOIP.” (Pete note: shoutout to thuway!)

    “In essence, it is almost EXACTLY how it was on the PS3, and it is in those API “handshakes” that is breaking the online experience.”

    I asked if could be fixed soon. He said that anything is possible and Microsoft is obviously working on it but he thinks it will be months, not weeks. Getting online launch games certified is taking so long that it’s pushing games after launch back.

    Talking to a different developer he says: “Yeah, getting anything online to work was a pain for months, barely worked at the very end of last month. Adding friends, sending game invites or even achievements’ toasts could be a nightmare. I don’t know that much outside of “my” project, but from what I saw in others, online was always a problem. No idea if this will still be an issue at launch though, I think it would be too much, but it looks like it won’t be flawless at all.”

    “This was happening either way. This was built into the OS long ago. The DRM-removal clogged their pipelines somewhat, but this blockage was always there. It’s just simply a way they setup the VOIP API and how it would be handled. It was an oversight, not just voip, all of parties and network connectivity really.”
