Although Marvel has traditionally announced release dates for its movies several years in advance, it has been more secretive about its plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the current Phase 3 ends. Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is the only movie with an official release date after Phase 3 closes with 2019’s Avengers 4, but we now know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will be released in 2020.

The news comes via director James Gunn, who helmed the first two Guardians movies and will direct Vol. 3. Gunn was asked by a fan on Twitter about a third film in the space fantasy series, to which he replied „coming in 2020.“

Gunn first confirmed that he would return for another Guardians movie in April last year. „There is a history in Hollywood of haphazard endings to trilogies, and I didn’t want to become a part of that dishonorable tradition of pretending the third one doesn’t exist,“ he explained. „I couldn’t do it for the money, and I couldn’t do it because it was what other people wanted me to do. I needed to do it because it was what I needed to do. So, yes, I’m returning to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.“

In a subsequent Facebook Q&A Gunn hinted at what fans might see in Vol. 3, including the intergalactic police agent Nova. „Nova comes up occasionally as someone we might use,“ he said. „We’re going to be setting up new characters. It’s going to really expand the cosmic universe [and] will be the last movie of this version of Guardians of the Galaxy.“

The Guardians will next appear in Avengers: Infinity War, which arrives in May. Check the first trailer out here. In related news, the currently untitled Avengers 4 wrapped production last week. To celebrate, directors Joe and Anthony Russo tweeted a picture of a cool Thanos cake.

Koei Techmo’s Attack on Titan 2 is just a few months away, but some fresh gameplay details for its visceral titan-slaying action have arrived. New multiplayer details have surfaced, which include more information on the title’s online co-op and competitive modes.

From what we know about the game itself, it seems to be a bit more involved than its predecessor. It takes place during the anime’s second season, which aired last summer. New RPG elements have been added to allow you to build relationships with different characters from the series, there are additional support and stealth gameplay elements, and older features have been balanced.

The new online features include an online co-operative mode for story and scout missions, and a competitive PvP mode. Annihilation Mode is a 4v4 battle against the titans to see which team can earn the most points in the time limit. Building defenses and slaying titans are surefire ways to earn points, but those aren’t the only ways.

Annihilation Mode also allows players to sabotage one another using different kinds of bullets. Numbing bullets paralyze enemies for a brief period of time, and paint bullets cover the victim’s screen and mini-map. In the last minute of every round, the stakes become even higher; any points earned will be doubled.

Attack on Titan 2 was announced in August of last year. It will release for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on March 20.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is almost here, and for Dragon Ball fans, there’s a lot to look forward to. Bandai Namco revealed three Dragon Ball Super characters for the game’s roster–Goku Black, Beerus, and Hit. In the video above, you can watch every launch character’s super moves, from the latest reveals to series favorites Goku and Vegeta.

Dragon Ball FighterZ follows a 3v3 format similar to more recent Marvel vs. Capcom games. It has a new story mode that seems to take place sometime after the Universe 6 Saga, and it introduces a brand new character, Android 21. It also features „Dramatic Scenes“ that recreate iconic moments from the series in-game.

A beta of Dragon Ball FighterZ begins on January 14 at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET and runs until January 16. Out of the 24 fighters confirmed for launch, 11 are playable in the beta.

Dragon Ball FighterZ releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 26. If you plan on picking up the PC version, make sure you meet Dragon Ball FighterZ’s minimum and recommended specs. The game will have a season pass that adds eight more characters to the roster post-launch.

The third Avengers movie may not have been released yet, but the fourth one has already wrapped production. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo moved straight from shooting this year’s Avengers: Infinity War to the currently untitled Avengers 4, which is set to hit theaters in summer 2019.

The Russo brothers marked the end of production by tweeting an image of a spectacular „wrap cake.“ It shows the villainous Thanos astride a galactic slab of iced cake, itself held aloft by a gloved hand. Check it out below:

Given that Infinity War isn’t out until May, it is not surprising that very few details about Avengers 4 have been released. However, we do know that it will complete a 22-film run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that kicked off with Iron Man in 2008. Last year, Marvel boss Kevin Feige said, „As we get to Avengers: Infinity War, there will be a sense of a climax. By the time we’re at Avengers 4, 22 movies will have encompassed the first three phases of the MCU. And what happens after that will be very different. I don’t know if it’s Phase 4, it might be a new thing.“

In a separate interview, Feige explained that the follow-up to Spider-Man: Homecoming, which hits theaters shortly after Avengers 4, will start the next era of Marvel movies. „So much happens in [the third and fourth Avengers movies], as you can imagine, and so much is affected by it, that we felt what better person to hold your hand and lead you into the next incarnation of the MCU, in a grounded, realistic manner, than Peter Parker?“ he said. „So, coming out two months after Untitled Avengers, [that’s what] much of what the next Spider-Man film will be about.“

The first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War arrived in November. The upcoming superhero epic brings together pretty much every hero from the last decade of Marvel movies in their fight against Thanos. It hits theaters on May 4, 2018.

The weekend has arrived, and that means Xur has made his latest appearance in Destiny 2. As always, he has a selection of Exotic gear for sale along with some other recent additions to his inventory. This particular lineup of items is a tad unusual, however, as all four pieces of gear he has for sale are from the Curse of Osiris DLC, which is a situation we have not seen before (and means you’ll need the DLC to buy much). Here’s where to find Xur and what he’s selling from now until the weekly reset on Tuesday, January 16.

With this week’s Flashpoint being in the EDZ, that’s also where you’ll find Xur. Specifically, he’s located in the Winding Cove. To find him, fast travel to that area’s Landing Zone, and head straight up the road in front of you. Xur is camped out next to a crashed ship up on the hillside, which you can reach by scaling the rocks just to his right.

As for what he’s selling, his newer items are again available. You can pick up a Three of Coins to boost your chances of securing an Exotic, or the expensive Fated Engram, which is guaranteed to decrypt into an Exotic you don’t already own. Otherwise, your options are four pieces of Curse of Osiris gear, including the Exotic grenade launcher The Colony. Here’s everything Xur has this week:

Before picking up the Three of Coins, you’ll want to be aware that there have been complaints about how it works. Players have expressed frustration with the boost to Exotic drops that it provides, as well as lack of clear communication about what it’s supposed to do. Bungie addressed how the Three of Coins works last month and admitted there is a problem with their use in Heroic Strikes. A fix for that is on the way.

More recently, Bungie outlined a huge number of changes coming to Destiny 2. In addition to clarifying what content will be free versus paid, it also announced the return of Faction Rally, Eververse changes, quality-of-life improvements, and a long-term roadmap that includes the release of Masterwork armor.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the platformer that came exclusively to Wii U in 2014, is getting re-released for Switch, Nintendo has announced. The port will include a new mode when it launches for Nintendo’s hybrid console on May 4.

The entire game will be playable in local co-op, with one Joy-Con each, though further details are scarce for the new game right now. We do know, however, that the new mode will star Funky Kong. Donkey Kong, meanwhile, is also the star of new Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle DLC coming this spring.

We enjoyed the Wii U platformer when it first launched, though it wasn’t without its problems. In our Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze review, critic Mark Walton wrote: „If the regular levels were as inventive as the boss battles, then Tropical Freeze would be a surefire hit, or at least a game that demands more of your attention. No matter how much I was looking forward to seeing DK in HD, it’s difficult to maintain that enthusiasm when the end product plays it so safe: even the visuals fail to make an impact. They’re nice enough, but like the level design, the environments are mostly bland. While you could argue that the visual style is true to the series, I think even traditionalists wouldn’t mind something with a little more pizzazz behind it. As it stands, this a sometimes fun but mostly uninspired and unimaginative entry in the Donkey Kong series.“

Another batch of games have now arrived on the Nintendo Switch Eshop. This week, the digital storefront adds 11 new titles, the bulk of which are available beginning today, January 11.

Headlining this week’s releases is Super Meat Boy, the critically acclaimed, ultra-challenging platformer by developer Team Meat. The Switch version boasts a new multiplayer split-screen Race Mode that allows two players to compete against each other through individual stages or the entire game. It’s joined by the prison-escape game The Escapists 2, as well as the stylish sword-fighting game Furi.

Other notable titles out today include the latest ACA Neo Geo game, Art of Fighting 2; the drawn-to-life game Draw a Stickman: Epic 2; and free demos for Dragon Quest Builders and Forma 8. You can see every free demo Switch and 3DS owners can download today in our roundup. Those titles will be followed by a pair of games tomorrow, January 12: the bloody Bomberman-like game Brawl, and the match-three puzzler Azkend 2: The World Beyond, which was originally slated to release with last week’s Eshop games.

Switch owners can get discounts on a handful of great games–such as Thumper, Thimbleweed Park, Severed, and more–until January 15. A separate Eshop sale is also still going on in Europe, which offers deals on a handful of first-party titles like Arms, 1-2-Switch, and Flip Wars.
