    Boston Dynamics unveils its latest creation, and it’s definitely no slouch. Called the WildCat, this robotic mule WildCat can probably be considered the cheetah of its pack, and it’s capable of untethered speeds of up to 16 MPH thus far. Previously, the company’s Cheetah robot hit a record 29.3 MPH while tethered.

    Remember that WildCat is doing all this without any tethers or supports. WildCat might not actually top out at 16 MPH either: that’s just the fastest it’s gotten up to thus far.

    It’s hard not to think of the WildCat as a living thing once it gets going. When galloping, it really does resemble some sort of horse.

    Battlefield 4 features several changes compared to its predecessor. The game’s heads-up display is much the same, composed of two compact rectangles. The lower left-hand corner features a mini-map and compass for navigation, and a simplified objective notice above it; the lower right includes a compact ammo counter and health meter. The mini-map, as well as the main game screen, shows symbols marking three kinds of entities: blue for allies, green for squadmates, and red/orange for enemies.

     

    Players can now use dual-scoped weapons, including weapons with different firing modes (e.g. single shots, automatic fire). They can now „spot“ targets—marking their positions to the player’s squad— in the single player campaign (a first in the Battlefield franchise) as well as in multiplayer, allowing teammates to either suppress or eliminate them. In addition, players will have more survival capabilities, such as countering melee attacks from the front while standing or crouching, shooting with their sidearm while swimming, and diving underwater to avoid enemy detection. The single-player campaign will see the player using vehicles to quickly traverse mini-sandbox-style levels.

    Not just a myth, beachgoers in the Spanish community of Cantabria were astonished Tuesday when they stumbled onto the carcass of a giant 30-foot-long squid that had washed ashore almost fully intact, and weighed nearly 400 pounds.

    According to Grind TV, it „was delivered to the Maritime Museum of Cantabria, where it was cleaned and frozen, while a decision is awaited between museum scientists and the government as to what will be done with the colossal cephalopod.“

    The discovery was incredible because giant squid are extremely elusive and „reside at depths of between 1,000 and 3,000 feet, and most of what scientists have learned has come from carcasses that have washed ashore, and rarely are entire carcasses found.“

    It did not take long for the Internet to uncover some of the many secrets in “Grand Theft Auto V.” Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated game was just released, and fans have discovered a hidden message within the blueprint map, included in the special edition of “GTA V,” that can be viewed under a black light.

    Reddit user November17R3 provided the photos that led to the “GTA V” easter egg. According to the user, the blueprint map of Los Santos and Blaine County contains instructions to bring $500,000. According to users, the message reads, “T.P.E – Trevor Philips Enterprises. Weaponry, narcotics, intimidation and casual wear. Lago Zan Cudo.     In a nutshell, scientists from Southampton University used an alternating current, powered by a transformer, to recreate a bolt of electricity by passing 200,000 volts across an 11-inch gap. This generated the same heat, light and charge produced by a bolt of lighting, which was then used to charge the battery on a Nokia 925 phone.

    According to The Daily Mail, „Neil Palmer from the university passed the extremely high voltage across a gap between two conducting tubes in order to generate the bolt. The charge was then passed through a second, controlling transformer, connected to the phone’s battery.

    Coinciding with the launch of GTA Online, Rockstar released yesterday a GTA 5 Story mode patch that tackles numerous issues with the single-player campaign.

    Most notably, the new update v1.01 should fix the widely reported issue of saved vehicles disappearing, or losing their upgrades. It is now available for both PS3 and XBOX 360 versions of the game.

    Here’s the full info:

    In addition to opening up access to Grand Theft Auto Online, today’s automatic update for GTAV on both platforms features a host of fixes for issues you may have encountered in Story Mode. See below for a list of prominent fixes, and if you have any problems downloading this update or are experiencing technical issues not addressed here, please hit up our tech support team at the Rockstar Support Site or on Twitter.

    • Fix for interface issues when using Internet on the cell phone after completing the game, or during a mission replay

    • Fix for the Vanilla Unicorn occasionally becoming locked

    • Fix for issues where the character’s money could drop below zero and become stuck there

    • Fix for the Epsilon Program missions not progressing properly after delivering some cars

    • Fix for issue where the Atomic Blimp sometimes does not appear as a phone contact for Collector’s Edition owners

    • Fix for issues with saved vehicles going missing, or losing their upgrades

    • Fixes for several map escape and collision issues along with other various bug fixes

    Rockstar also announced that it’s „working around the clock“ to fix the current GTA Online issues:

    „We are continuing to look into these issues and are working around the clock on resolving them as quickly as possible,“ Rockstar Games said.

    The team has settled on the engine that will power Mighty No. 9, and it isunreal…no, we mean literally, it’s the Unreal Engine from Epic! 

    For those of you who might not know, this is the engine that built its reputation pushing the cutting-edge graphics in AAA blockbusters like Mass Effect, Bioshock Infinite, Infinity Blade and of course Gears of War — no slouches in the looks department, any of them, right?

    Of course, just choosing an engine doesn’t mean our game will look like any of those — and in fact, it won’t, because we will have our own, unique graphical style we are going for with Mighty No. 9 — but it does mean our developers will have access to tools that can push the fidelity, lighting, and overall look of Mighty No. 9 to among the best gaming has to offer!

    It also means our team can spend less time worrying about technical mumbo-jumbo, and more time focused on things that really matter to a game like this — like the feel of the controls, the style of a character’s animation, the atmosphere of a level, the balance of Beck’s transformations — the important stuff!

    In fact, check out this super-short, super-rough engine test Inti Creates made in just seven days to see if Unreal would be viable for Mighty No. 9.     A group of Korean scientists from Daejon, South Korea used metabolic engineering to create fatty acid derivatives that are shorter than normal, allowing the biosynthesis of short-chain alkanes. In other words, E. coli has been used to produce gasoline for the very first time.

    In addition to producing gasoline, this discovery also enabled researchers to produce fatty esters and alcohols with the addition of different enzymes, which means E. coli may go on to create vegetable oil, detergent and even cosmetics. One caveat: the „E. coli-to-gasoline transformation technique is still in the works and not ready to be unleashed on the world just yet, as it has only produced 580 mg of gas per liter.“

    Der Spieler steht mit seinen eigenen Background-Tänzern im neuen On-Stage-Modus im Rampenlicht, tanzt mit Just-Dance-Spielern aus der ganzen Welt im World-Dance-Floor-Modus und hält sich im personalisierten Just-Sweat-Modus mit seinem Lieblingssong fit! Just Dance 2014 wartet außerdem mit weiteren Überraschungen auf.

     

    Besondere Eigenschaften

    • World-Dance-Floor (verfügbar für Wii/ Wii U/ Xbox 360/ Xbox One/ PS3/ PS4):

    In diesem speziellen Mehrspielermodus tanzen Spieler aus aller Welt gleichzeitig zu einem Lied. Die Spieler treten einer Tanz-Crew bei und nehmen an verschiedenen Events teil (“Boys vs. Girls”, “Crew vs. Crew”). Zwischen den Songs erstellen Spieler globale Ranglisten und schauen witzige Neuheiten aus der Community an.

     

    • Just Dance DJ (Xbox One): Mit diesem Feature können Spieler die Übergänge zwischen den einzelnen Songs optisch und akustisch gestalteten. Damit wird jeder zum DJ! Just Dance DJ ist auch im Spielmodus “Endless Party” verfügbar.

     

    • On-Stage-Modus (Wii/ Wii U/ Xbox 360/ Xbox One/ PS3/ PS4):  Die On-Stage-Choreografie ist ein neuer Spielmodus, der den Auftritt des Spielers ins Rampenlicht stellt. In diesem Modus singt und tanzt der Spieler mit zwei Backgroundtänzern auf der Bühne. Der Spieler selbst ist der Star der Show! Wenn er zeigen möchte, welches Talent in ihm steckt, sollte er alles geben. Er kann aber auch einfach mit seinen Freunden herumalbern und Spaß haben.

     

    • Tänze für sechs Spieler (Xbox One): Just Dance kann auf der Xbox One nun auch mit sechs Spielern gleichzeitig gespielt werden. Einige Songs enthalten sogar unterschiedliche Choreographien für JEDEN EINZELNEN Spieler, so dass die Tanzfolge jedes Mal verschieden sein wird.

     

    • Maßgeschneiderter Just-Sweat-Modus (Wii/ Wii U/ Xbox 360/ Xbox One/ PS3/ PS4): Der Spieler kann im Just-Sweat-Modus die Playliste für seine Workouts selbst zusammenstellen. Zudem werden die verbrannten Kalorien erfasst und gezählt – und das optional auch außerhalb des Just-Sweat-Modus in allen Spielmodi.

     

    • Autodance (Wii U/ Xbox 360/ Xbox One/ PS3/ PS4):  Autodance funktioniert jetzt auf allen Plattformen, die eine Kamera-Funktion haben, und wurde deutlich erweitert! Mit Autodance kann man die eigenen  Bewegungen zu coolen Musikvideos werden lassen. Nach jedem Song können die Videos von Freunden angeschaut oder neue witzige Videos erstellt werden. Mit Autodance kann man die besten Momente sofort mit Freunden, der Familie oder der ganzen Welt teilen.

     

     

    • Just Dance TV (Wii U/ Xbox 360/ Xbox One/ PS3/ PS4): Hier kann man seine eigenen Videos und die seiner Freunde betrachten. Außerdem findet man in separaten Abschnitten die aktuellsten und beliebtesten Videos sowie die Videos des Just Dance-Teams.     Nutzer können diese Videos mit ihren Freunden über Facebook, Twitter und E-Mail teilen oder sie über JustDanceTv.com in die ganze Welt ausstrahlen.
