Twitch Rivals presents: the Hearthstone Gold Rush challenge

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

In one week, Hearthstone’s Dual Class Arena mode, The Hallow’s End, will return for a two week limited time special event!

Hallow’s End, in case you missed it before, is a spin on the classic Hearthstone Arena formula where you can pick two classes and fuse them for ultimate drafting synergy. To celebrate, we’re inviting all broadcasters around the tavern to a good ol’ fashion Gold Rush speed challenge on Twitch.

Starting on October 17 worldwide, the event will be unlocked and playable to every Hearthstone account, for free. The only two requirements to sign up are:

    1. Make a brand new Battle.Net / Hearthstone account
    2. Register that new Battle.net account over at the Smash.GG portal (https://www.smash.gg/hsgoldrush)

The Gold Rush challenge is a race to obtain 5000 Hearthstone in-game gold.. You can participate and play co-op together with friends, but no “Challenge A Friend” quests for 80 gold! Tavern Brawl is also off limit, but Constructed or Arena are fair game. Can you figure out the fastest way to reach 5000 gold?

And of course, using real money to buy anything is forbidden! For those focusing on the Hallow’s End Dual Class Arena, you can only use gold to pay for your Arena entry tickets. If you run out of gold — you bust. However, you have up to three attempts on your registered account due to the three server access regions (Americas, Europe, and Asia). If you bust on all 3 servers, you’re out for good.

The Gold Rush challenge features over $25,000 in prizes at stake and is open to anyone.. Pre-registration at smash.gg/hsgoldrush is mandatory, so if you forget to sign up, your submission won’t count!

Hallow’s End run from October 17–31. Submissions sent before or after those dates will be invalid. No cheating.

Note: You are allowed to complete the game’s tutorial and play all the classes to level 10 in Solo Adventure before the Challenge begins. However, you are not allowed to play any other game mode outside of Solo Adventure or start accumulating gold until Hallow’s End has officially started. Failure to abide by these prerequisites may invalidate your submission. You’ve been warned.

    Prizes ($25,000 in total)
    1st — $15,000

    2nd — $7,000

    3rd — $3,000

If nobody is able to cross the 5000 gold mark, the highest *current* gold holders will be selected as the winners.

Once you’ve completed your Arena run, grab the VOD and go to the smash.gg portal for submission. Winners will have their accounts verified and later announced at the conclusion of the event.

Finally, to all participants who are joining us for this epic challenge, while the event has no broadcast length limitations, please take extra care to ensure your own health and safety. Stay hydrated, eat well, take breaks, get lots of sleep, and most importantly, have lots of fun.

    How do I participate?

To participate, simply use your Twitch account to broadcast the entirety of your submission under the “Twitch Rivals: Hearthstone Eerie-na Challenge” Tag.

If you do not have a Twitch account, signing up is free and easy. For all the details, read the official ruleset here and ask any questions in the Discord to the admins.

    FAQ

    • When does the Challenge begin and end?

October 17 is when Hallow’s End starts. October 31 is the last day of the event. If your submission contains non-Hallow’s End content, it will not be eligible.

    • I finished! How do I submit to verify if I have won anything?

Log onto smash.gg portal page (https://www.smash.gg/hsgoldrush) and click “Submit my run”.

    • What if I disconnect halfway or my stream goes down?

You are responsible for your own internet connection. Triple check your settings and test stability before you start. Any partial runs will be reviewed for authenticity, so submit chopped up VODs at your own risk.

    • I accidentally didn’t stream some games on the account halfway through. Will this invalidate my run?

You must stream the event in its entirety. Gaining gold off-stream can be grounds for disqualification based on on the admin’s discretion. Accidents do happen, but do your due diligence to ensure your hard work isn’t jeopardized!

    • I lost pretty quickly. Can I still participate if I bust out of gold early?

You may create a new submission by starting fresh on a different server of the Battle.net account that you registered on Smash.gg. However, if you bust out and are unable to purchase an arena ticket with in-game gold on any server (Americas, Europe, Asia), you are effectively eliminated from competition.

    • Can I play on multiple accounts on the same time?

Each valid submission must show only 1 account being played at a time. Playing multiple servers or multiple accounts simultaneously will invalidate your run.

    • I finished the 5000 gold, but I did not stream some of it. Can I claim the prize?

Unfortunately, if you did not stream the completion of the challenge in its entirety, you are not eligible to win. However, if you recorded locally on your computer, you may broadcast the missing part as a VOD on Twitch. However, you must the run must be streamed in its entirety (at normal 1x speed) before officially claiming the prize. Don’t forget to turn on your stream before you start/continue your runs!

    • Can I have a friend on call or next to me?

Absolutely. The challenge can be a team effort, but we will credit it to the official owner (by email account) of the stream. However, you may not compete in the challenge on multiple channels, so if you compete on a friend’s stream, you may not submit your own individual run on your personal channel or help another broadcaster with their runs.

Hearthstone Global Games (HGG) is heating up and the top 16 countries and regions in the world have been decided. On the road to the playoffs at BlizzCon®, join the community in celebrating the journey with HGG Cheer — a new program that lets you Cheer with Bits for your favorite teams on Twitch using custom Cheermotes — all while unlocking sweet loot along the way.

Every Cheer from Sept. 17 through Nov. 4 on /playhearthstone brings you and the entire community closer to unlocking Cheering goals, which include in-game items like card packs and a card back, and exclusive Twitch emotes. Even better: a portion of the revenue from Bits you Cheer goes directly to the team you’re supporting.

Right below the video player on /playhearthstone, you can track team-specific and global community Cheering progress; check out your individual goals, and see leaderboards that highlight each team’s biggest superfan. HGG teams will not only feel the love from your Cheers, they’ll get to see themselves represented on Twitch and within Hearthstone on unlockable team-branded items!

    How it works:

    • Be sure to link your Blizzard account to your Twitch account so you can claim loot when items become available.
    • Cheer for your favorite teams on /playhearthstone (or any of the international channels) during HGG events by clicking on the Bits gem at the bottom of chat, selecting the team’s logo, adding the number of Bits and a custom message to cheer them on.
    • Once Cheering goals are reached, items will be automatically deposited in your Hearthstone account as long as you have your account linked with your Twitch account.

Support your team in the Hearthstone Global Games beginning on September 17 and follow them as they chase the trophy at BlizzCon. For more details on the HGG Schedule, click here. Follow the Hearthstone channel to be notified when events go live.

  • The Hearthstone Dungeon Run Challenge finale is here

The Hearthstone Dungeon Run Challenge finale is here

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

Last December, we kicked off the Dungeon Run Challenge alongside the launch of Hearthstone: Kobolds and Catacombs. Over $30,000 in prizes are at stake, and now that the dust has settled, only the most worthy and cunning remain. Now we begin Phase Two of the Challenge: a Sudden Death Survival Round tiebreaker with the following 22 broadcasters:

    9 attempts: TrumpSC, Freaky4lol

10 attempts: Noblord, MascaHS, Cdw1, Loyan, Tempo_, BaccoHS, BloodyFaceHS

11 attempts: AmazHS, DisguisedToastHS, itsHafu, TheEnclase, Chakki_HS, Mef_f, LanguageHacker, Crumpledpauper, itisBalbin, BoarControlHS, Siostrzon, D1b_, Sonecarox

For Phase Two, our finalists will once again clear the Dungeon Run and obtain the Candle King cardback. This time they get only one full run attempt, so there are no account resets or server switches.

There are nine classes to clear in Dungeon Run, and each will count as a separate round. However many attempts they take to clear a class will count as their “score” for that round. In sudden-death survival style, finalists scores will be prioritized by sequence of their scores. This means the later in the runs they fail, the stronger their tiebreaker score will be. The top three nine-round score in chronological order of clear will be declared the winners!

    Example Phase 2 score

John starts on a fresh account and decides to start with Warrior. He clears all nine classes in seven hours in the following order and gets these results:

    Warrior — 1 attempt

    Shaman — 1 attempt

    Rogue — 1 attempt

    Paladin — 1 attempt

    Hunter — 2 attempts

    Druid — 1 attempt

    Warlock — 3 attempts

    Mage — 2 attempts

    Priest — 1 attempt

    Thus, John’s tiebreaker will be 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 3, 2, 1.

This means that if by the 5th round everyone else has failed at least once, he is guaranteed to be the 1st place winner because no one else has survived that long without failure.

However, if all other competitors tie until the 6th class with just one attempt per class, this means John will not land in the top three.

Each finalist will have four days to clear the Dungeon run mode on a new account. Every defeat or retire will count as an additional attempt. The three best scores in the Survival rounds will be declared the winners. If necessary, in the event of a tie, further scheduled tiebreakers will be announced.

The first place winner will receive $15,000. The runner up will receive $10,000. And third place will take home $5,000.

Phase Two of the Challenge begins at on Friday January 12th, 12:00:00 AM PST and will conclude on Monday January 15th at 11:59PM PST. Any submission after the deadline will be invalid. If you want to watch along, we’ll update the “Dungeon Run Challenge” Community tab where you can find all the broadcasters participating in Phase Two. Hit the “follow” tab to receive updates on the action!

  • Compete in the Hearthstone Dungeon Run Challenge

Compete in the Hearthstone Dungeon Run Challenge

    Reading Time: 5 minutes

Twitch is excited to announce the Hearthstone Dungeon Run Challenge that will begin this week in celebration of the launch of Hearthstone: Kobolds and Catacombs on December 7th. With over $30,000 in prizes at stake, all streamers on Twitch are invited to participate for a chance to delve deep and immortalize themselves within Hearthstone’s eternal lore!

Upon release of Kobolds and Catacombs, the new Dungeon Run will be unlocked for free to every Hearthstone account. On top of existing rewards for playing the game mode, a special “Candle King” cardback is awarded for clearing the game mode with all nine classes.

The Dungeon Run Challenge is simple — obtain the Candle King cardback in the fewest attempts per class possible. The event is separated into two phases:

Phase 1: For 10 days upon expansion release, this will be an open call to all Twitch streamers to participate! Gather you best score by minimizing your attempts while clearing Dungeon Run. Every defeat or retire will count as an additional attempt for that class. Your final tally of attempts will be your score — the lower, the better. Do you think you have the guts, the stamina, and the cunning to even post a perfect score of nine attempts?

Phase 2: Upon verification of the top 10 scores, remaining finalists will qualify for the final Survival round. Each finalist will have 24 hours to choose a class to clear the Dungeon run in as few attempts possible. Every defeat or retire will count as an additional attempt. The three best scores in the Survival rounds will be declared the winners! If necessary, in the event of a tie, survival rounds will repeat until a clear winner is determined.

Phase 1 of the Challenge begins at on December 7 the moment Kobolds and Catacombs releases on the Americas server and will conclude on December 17 at 11:59PM PST. Any submission after the deadline will be invalid. Phase 2 will be announced on a later date once the 10 finalists have been verified and contacted by Twitch.

Note: On December 7, Kobolds and Catacombs will be dropping first on the Americas server. Europe and Asia server players can either start an Americas Hearthstone account to access the free Dungeon Run content (make sure to clear the tutorial first!) or simply wait for the expansion on their respective server.

Some streamers who will be participating:

    How do I participate?

To participate, simply use your Twitch account to broadcast the entirety of your submission under the “Hearthstone: Dungeon Run Challenge” Community tab.

If you do not have a Twitch account, signing up is free and easy! We highly recommend you research how to stream on your own through the Twitch subreddit or other available resources online/posted at the bottom.

    A valid submission must include:

    • A successful Dungeon Run completion with all nine (9) Hearthstone classes consecutively — Druid, Hunter, Mage, Shaman, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, Warrior. Order of class completion does not matter. Repeating a class dungeon will only add to the attempts counter.
    • Entirety of the runs must be fully broadcasted on Twitch under the proper Communities tab. Any partial completion offline will invalidate the submission. Recordings are only valid submissions if broadcasted on the Twitch channel in its entirety.

You can view the full official ruleset here.

    FAQ

When does Kobolds and Catacombs release?

I finished! How do I submit to verify if I have won anything?

Go on Twitter and tweet @Twitch with a link to your VODs. Make sure you include the #DungeonRunChallenge hashtag!

What if I disconnect halfway or my stream goes down?

You are responsible for your own internet connection. Triple check your settings and test stability before you start. Any partial runs will be reviewed for authenticity, so submitting with chopped up VODs is at your own risk. If it is verified that your disconnect caused a loss, that will unfortunately count as an attempt.

I cleared a couple classes/started a few practice runs before I began streaming. Do those runs count towards my score?

Yes, it unfortunately will be counted towards the score. Your score is your total attempts per class for the cardback and will be verified by Blizzard for authenticity. Your submission will also be invalid if the broadcast VODs do not all 9 classes cleared in Dungeon Mode.

I accidentally started another run on a class I already cleared. Does that count towards my score?

Yes, so make sure you carefully evaluate which classes you completed and which you have yet to start.

I found out about the challenge a few days after it started and I already did a few dungeon runs for fun. How can I still participate?

You may create a new submission by starting fresh on a different server or if you have another valid Battle.net account. Remember, it’s the challenge is to obtain the cardback in fewest attempts per class possible — so try to avoid practice runs on your official submission account.

Can I submit more than once?

No, you can only submit one time so make sure your best clear attempt is the one you submit!

Do I have to have an Americas account? What if I decide to switch servers in between?

Playing on Americas is only if you want to start the challenge immediately upon release of the expansion. You can participate on any server, but you only get one submission for that server. Switching to another region will count as another entire submission. When you start is up to you. The Dungeon Run content is free on all servers so all that is needed is to complete the tutorial for access to solo adventure content. There is no separate prizes for server accomplishments.

Can I do play on multiple accounts on the same time?

Each valid submission must show only 1 account being played at a time. Playing multiple servers or multiple accounts simultaneously will invalidate your run.

I got the best score, but I did not stream it. Can I claim the bounty?

Unfortunately, if you did not stream the completion of the challenge in its entirety, you are not eligible to win. However, if you record locally on your computer, you may broadcast the VOD on Twitch. However, you must accept that the run must first be streamed in its entirety before officially claiming the prize.

Can I have a friend on call or next to me?

Absolutely. It can be any sort of team effort, but we will credit it to the official owner (by email account) of the stream. Just don’t drag us into the division of the spoils. 😛

This is a digital collectible trading card game and the mobile versions will be released sometime in the second half of next year:

    icon_xl (2)

Chief creative officer Rob Pardo said the touch-controlled version of the game for tablets is a great way to play the game, but „not everyone actually has tablets.“ On stage, Pardo showed a shot of the game running on an iPhone 5s.

The game was already announced for iPad, Mac and Windows PC. That version of the game is expected to go into an open beta next month, Pardo said, „but in Blizzard language, that might mean January.“

BlizzCon attendees will be treated to an exclusive Hearthstone card, Pardo announced, a gold card variant of the Elite Tauren Chieftan. When played, the ETC appears to boost the attacks of other cards already played with „power chords“ giving other players „the power to ROCK!“ Playing the card causes concert stage lighting and pyrotechnic effects on the playfield.

Blizzard revealed Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft at a PAX East 2013 panel. The free-to-play collectible card game entered a closed beta for Mac and PC in August.
