SAVE YOUR GAME PROGRESS IN THE SIMPSONS: TAPPED OUT (TSTO)

Back up and save your game so you can recover your progress and play across different devices by connecting it to your EA Account.

While the game automatically saves your progress on your device as you play, you should connect it to an EA Account. This way you can restore your game and progress if you ever switch devices.

    1. Launch The Simpsons: Tapped Out.
    2. On the loading screen, tap the EA Login icon.

If you do not have an EA Account, tap Sign Up! and follow the prompts to create your account.

If you do have an EA Account, follow these steps:

    1. Enter your EA Account email and password.
    2. Tap Log In.

If your EA Account does not have saved progress in TSTO, it will connect to and save the Springfield that you were playing locally on your device.

If your EA Account does have saved progress in TSTO already, you’ll see this notification: There is a Level ## Springfield already on this device. Is this your Springfield?

    • Tap View if you want to take a peek at the Springfield that’s currently saved to your EA Account.

    Tap YES only if:

You want to overwrite the Springfield that’s saved to your EA Account with the Springfield that’s saved locally on your device.

    • You will not be able to recover your previous progress if you overwrite it.

    Tap NO if:

You want to keep the Springfield that’s already saved to your EA Account.

    • This will load your EA Account’s saved game.

Write down or screenshot your Mayhem ID before you sign up or log in for the first time.

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

What a surprise we have here! It seems that the Oculus Rift is not going only to have a 4K version but also a specially designed one for Android devices. The mobile version will be lighter, and will use the connected mobile device’s processor to function.

    icon_xl (3)
This Android compatible version of the headset is intended to be released simultaneously with the PC version, which is expected in 2014. As of now, there are no plans for an iOS version.

    According to Venturebeat:

Virtual reality meets today’s mobile reality.

Oculus VR announced that it’s bringing its virtual-reality headset, the Oculus Rift, to mobile gaming. Chief executive officer Brendan Iribe divulged the surprising move during his keynote chat Tuesday morning at the GamesBeat 2013 video game conference.

The goal is to have the mobile version launch simultaneously — or as close as possible to — when the PC headset launches.

The mobile Rift headset is for Android devices — iOS is problematic, and the company has not mentioned any plans for an iOS-compatible version.

This device will be a lighter, consumer version, and it will use the mobile device’s processor.

“We have some exciting plans on the mobile VR side as the PC VR side,” Iribe said. “We’re really looking at hitting the consumer market. We’re very excited about what we’re seeing. Skeptical about how good mobile VR could be on such a small platform. It’s pretty incredible what [John Carmack has] been able to do.”

Ouya 2.0 to release sometime in 2014

Speaking with PolygonOuya founder and CEO Julie Uhrman said that we should expect an“Ouya 2.0″, with an updated controller for the Android-powered console, to launch sometime next year.

    20130828_ouya

However, she added that the date hasn’t been finalized just yet, nor has the firm determined “what exactly we want that to be”…

„Our plan is to have Ouya 2.0 sometime next year, we haven’t finalized the date of that,“ she said. „We’re still determining what exactly we want that to be.

„The software is constantly iterating because we want to make it constantly better. We don’t want to wait six months and then go boom here are all these new features and functionality For the hardware, we are looking at different chips. We are looking at what type of performance we want.“

They are updating the controller based on user feedback. The triggers, thumbsticks and the feel of the controller have all been tweaked.

„We want to provide a great experience to gamers and developers,“ she said. „So we want to improve our controller to make it so. If it doesn’t happen that way, yeah, maybe we will abandon [the controllers] and allow you to pair anything you want with Ouya, because ultimately it’s what’s great for gamers.

„Part of that is taking that feedback, iterating that software, fixing the triggers, fixing the thumbsticks and if that doesn’t work, we’ll iterate it again and if we decide that’s not the right path, we’ll change it. I think that’s one thing that differentiates us. We don’t have this firm path we’re going to stay on come hell or high water. We take the feedback from gamers, from developers and we iterate and we change. When it’s not working we say so.“

  • How to Transfer Data from Android to new iPhone5s and Back!

How to Transfer Data from Android to new iPhone5s and Back!

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

How to transfer data from your old Android phone to a new iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c

So, you’ve been living in the Android world for a while and now you’re looking to give a new iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c a go. And why not? The iPhone 5s is a pretty stunning piece of hardware while the iPhone 5c is about as bright and colorful as you’ll find anywhere. Then you have iOS 7 which is the biggest overhaul Apple has ever made to its mobile operating system since its introduction in 2007. Changing platforms can not only be a headache but a shock to the system for some, and while applications like Xender for PC are perfectly simple to use and will take care of your needs, we feel we can offer a more complete service, so that’s where we come in. From start to finish, we can help you get your stuff off your old Android phone and on to your iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c as painlessly as possible.

    Here’s how:

    Google, Facebook, and Twitter

Many cloud services including Google’s native ones, Facebook, Twitter, and more can store your contacts, calendars, and much more for you. Cross-platform supported services such as Google, Exchange, or Yahoo! are all supported in iOS 7, which for you means minimal effort in importing all of your data. It’s as easy as entering your credentials for any of the supported services that can be found within the iOS 7 Settings menu, and toggling which data you want to pull in; mail, contacts, calendars, and in some cases, even notes. They are already stored in the cloud just waiting for you to access them on your new iPhone.

If you rely on Facebook and Twitter for many of your contacts, then that’s just fine too. iOS 7 can natively pull down contact data from both services into the Contacts app. Head into the Settings menu for each of them, and tell it to Update Contactsand you’re good to go.

    Store your images with Dropbox

Dropbox is available for both Android and iOS and offers an automatic upload feature for images. If you enable this on your existing Android device, getting your photos to your new iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c is as simple as downloading and signing into the Dropbox for iOS app.

On your Android device, just install the Dropbox app from Google Play if you don’t have it already. The first time you launch it, you’ll be asked if you’d like to upload your photos. Say yes. If you already have Dropbox on your Android phone but don’t have automatic uploads turned on, you can do so through Settings.

    The old fashioned way

If, like me, you like keeping a hard copy of your contacts on your computer, or don’t trust cloud syncing, you can export your contacts from your Android phone as a .vcf file, and import that into either the Contacts app on your Mac, or into Contacts at iCloud.com

Start with your Android phone in hand and complete the following steps:

    1. Launch the Contacts app.
    2. Hit the Menu button.
    3. Find the Import/Export option and select it.
    4. Choose the option to export your contacts to storage.
    5. Now either manually pull it from your phone to your computer or email it to yourself.
    6. Once you’ve got the file containing your contacts you can either open it in theContacts app on your Mac or upload it to iCloud.com.

We recommend storing this file somewhere safe too just in case you ever need it again.

Using Android File Transfer for Mac

If you use a Windows PC, then getting data from your Android device using your computer will be straight forward enough. If you use a Mac, you’ll need to use the often horrendous Android File Transfer app (download links below.) This provides an interface with your Mac for you to browse the files and folders on your Android device, and copy them to your Mac if need be. Since certain files, and images can be imported to your iPhone via iTunes, this might be the quickest way of moving things between the two devices.

Google Apps on iOS are plentiful

Perhaps the easiest way to transition to iOS from Android is to make full use of the plethora of Google apps available in the App Store. Everything from Gmail and Chrome to Chromecast and Google TV remote are available, and Google is currently pushing out a single sign-on feature between the more popular ones. Aside from Android, iOS is the next best place to get your Google fix in the mobile world.

These are good apps too, really good apps. Google makes some of the best looking apps on iOS, many of which have already been updated with official support for iOS 7. If you live and breath Google services, you’re in good hands with Google’s official iOS apps. Here are some of the most common ones. And there’s more where that came from!

There’re 3 parts for you to do beforetransfer contacts from iPhone to any Android phones, including HTC ones.

Part 1 Transfer contacts from iPhone to computer

    • Step 1 Connect your iOS device (here take iPhone as an example) with the computer and Launch Leawo iOS Data Recovery.
    • Step 2 Click “Start” button in the center of the program interface to begin scanning your iPhone.
    • Step 3 Preview and transfer iPhone contacts to the computer. You can export all the contacts by ticking the total Contacts category and clicking “Recover” button to create CSV, VCF and HTML file for the purpose.

Part 2 Transfer contacts to Gmail Contacts

To transfer iPhone contacts to Android, you should first transfer iPhone contacts to Gmail, which is the most important part to transfer contacts from iPhone to Android.

    • Step 1 Open and log into your Google Gmail account on your computer, click “Gmail” button on the left column and choose “Contacts” category.
    • Step 2 Then click “More” and choose “Import” in its pull-down list, then import the contacts in VCF/CSV format by browsing the file explorer on your computer.
    • Step 3 Once you’ve transferred iPhone contacts to Google Contacts, you can get rid of the duplicate contacts before syncing the contacts to your Android phone. Click “More” and then click “Find & merge duplicates…”.

Part 3 Import iPhone contacts to Android

Now that you have successfully transferred iPhone contacts to Google Contacts, you can start to sync and transfer contacts from iOS to Android.

    • Step 1 On your Android phone, go to Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync. Click “Add Account” and choose “Google”.
    • Step 2 Then, tap on “Sign in” to log into your Google account with the same Gmail address and password which you have imported iPhone contacts into.
    • Step 3 Then you’ll be led to an interface with options on what you want to sync into your Android phone, tick “Sync Contacts” and click “Finish” at the right bottom of the interface of your phone.

Well, you have just succeeded to transfer iPhone contacts to Android. Go to the contacts address book of your Android phone to check all the contacts you have transferred successfully.

Posted on YouTube, the first spot (above) shows off watches with advanced functionality — fromDick Tracy’s communication watch to KITT’s smart watch in Knight Rider.

In Samsung’s second spot (below), film and TV characters are shown talking into their watches, including the Predator, Penny from Inspector Gadget and Agent 86 from Get Smart. If anything, the ad reminds us that wrist communicators were really popular between the 1960s and the 1980s.

  • Valve reveals prototype ‚Steam Machines‘ specs

Valve reveals prototype ‚Steam Machines‘ specs

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Well, today the company has announced the hardware specs to be included within these „boxes“, running the Linux-based SteamOS:

    • GPU: some units with Nvidia Titan, some GTX780, some GTX760 and some GTX660
    • CPU: some boxes with Intel Core i7-4770, some Core i5-4570 and some Core i3
    • RAM: 16 GB DDR3-1600 (CPU), 3 GB DDR5 (GPU)
    • Storage: 1 TB / 8 GB hybrid SSHD
    • Power supply: internal 450 W 80 Plus Gold
    • Dimensions: approx. 12 inches x 12.4 inches x 2.9 inches high

    * For some context on those dimensions: the Xbox Slim is 10.6 x 10.39 x 2.95 inches. The PS3 Slim is 11.4 x 11.4 x 2.55 inches. This Steam Machine is, within a few inches, comparable to both of those consoles.

    screen_shot_2013-09-25_at_12.04.50_pm.0_cinema_720.0

No word yet on pricing, but they’ll probably be expensive. However, there will be a variety of options:

Fun with pricing: To get some idea of how much these babies will cost, we’ve put together some sample PCs using PCPartPicker. These are just rough estimates, of course, and they don’t account for costs of the controller and whatever other mark-ups are in place here. We don’t know what kind of motherboards the Steam Machines will use, so we picked appropriate options for each processor. We used 1TB 5400RPM drives here, though it’s possible that some (or all) of the highest-end Steam Machines will use 7200RPM drives. These are also mid-sized (cheap) cases—the Steam Machines will be smaller and prettier.

The highest end possibility here, with a Titan and an i7 CPU, clocks in at around $1,850.

One mid-range option, with a GTX-780 and an i5 CPU, would run you close to $1,350.

The lowest-end (of these high-end machines), using a GTX660 and an i3 CPU, could go for something like $880.

These beta prototypes will be free, of course.

Valve wants to be clear, here: this is going to be pricey. Not everyone will be able to afford one of the highest-end Steam Machines. Not to worry—there will be other options.

    Steam Machines – Prototype Details

Hello from the Steam hardware bunker.

Thanks for joining the Steam Universe community group. As we get closer to shipping the prototype Steam Machines and controllers we talked about last week, we’re going to be posting info here about what we’re up to, and give you some insight into the work we’ve done to get to this point.

As we talked about last week, the Steam Machines available for sale next year will be made by a variety of companies. Some of those companies will be capable of meeting the demands of lots of Steam users very quickly, some will be more specialized and lower volume. The hardware specs of each of those machines will differ, in many cases substantially, from our prototype.

Valve didn’t set out to create our own prototype hardware just for the sake of going it alone – we wanted to accomplish some specific design goals that in the past others weren’t yet tackling. One of them was to combine high-end power with a living-room-friendly form factor. Another was to help us test living-room scenarios on a box that’s as open as possible.

So for our own first prototype Steam Machine ( the one we’re shipping to 300 Steam users ), we’ve chosen to build something special. The prototype machine is a high-end, high-performance box, built out of off-the-shelf PC parts. It is also fully upgradable, allowing any user to swap out the GPU, hard drive, CPU, even the motherboard if you really want to. Apart from the custom enclosure, anyone can go and build exactly the same machine by shopping for components and assembling it themselves. And we expect that at least a few people will do just that. (We’ll also share the source CAD files for our enclosure, in case people want to replicate it as well.)

And to be clear, this design is not meant to serve the needs of all of the tens of millions of Steam users. It may, however, be the kind of machine that a significant percentage of Steam users would actually want to purchase – those who want plenty of performance in a high-end living room package. Many others would opt for machines that have been more carefully designed to cost less, or to be tiny, or super quiet, and there will be Steam Machines that fit those descriptions.

Here are the specifications for Valve’s 300 prototypes.

    (SEE ABOVE)

As a hardware platform, the Steam ecosystem will change over time, so any upgrades will be at each user’s discretion. In the future we’ll talk about how Steam will help customers understand the differences between machines, hardware strengths and weaknesses, and upgrade decisions.

We aren’t quite ready to post a picture of our prototype – just because they’re not finished enough. Before they ship we’ll let you know what the prototype looks like. And we expect people to redesign the machine, too. Both from a technical perspective, deciding on different components, and from an industrial design perspective, changing the enclosure in interesting ways.

So high-powered SteamOS living room machines are nice, and fun to play with, and will make many Steam customers happy. But there are a lot of other Steam customers who already have perfectly great gaming hardware at home in the form of a powerful PC. The prototype we’re talking about here is not meant to replace that. Many of those users would like to have a way to bridge the gap into the living room without giving up their existing hardware and without spending lots of money. We think that’s a great goal, and we’re working on ways to use our in-home streaming technology to accomplish it – we’ll talk more about that in the future.

Stay tuned for some closer looks at the Steam Controller.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has detailed the new upcoming PlayStation App for iOS and Android.

The app will be free to download and will allow users to connect to their PlayStation profile, send messages (including voice messages) to friends, and more stuff.

    10037897655_d2fc617a10_c10037874195_99098c822d_c

    Here are the official details:

Did any of the early birds among you stay up the week before last to watch the Tokyo Game Show keynote? If you did, you’ll have seen Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida take to the stage to unveil the new PlayStation App, launching alongside PS4 later this year.

In general terms, the new app allows you to take the PlayStation experience with you when you’re away from your PS4. You can stay in touch with friends, compare Trophies, view friends’ activity (such as recorded or live-streamed gameplay), and access all the latest PlayStation.Blog news.

I caught up with Yoshida immediately after the show, and asked him to expand on exactly what gamers can expect from PlayStation App later this year.

“It’s an application that anyone can download for free on iOS and Android devices,” he explained.

“There are a variety of things you can do with it. You can connect to your PlayStation profile and send messages — even voice messages — to friends between your smartphone and PS4.

“A friend on PS4 can also send out an invitation for a multiplayer game, which you can then check on the App, and you can also purchase PS4 games from PlayStation Store. Your game will immediately start downloading while you’re away.”

PlayStation App will also offer ‘second screen’ gameplay features on enabled titles. For example, during the TGS presentation Yoshida showed how the app interacts with The Playroom — he drew a picture of Knack on his smartphone’s touch screen, and then pushed it into the PS4 game on his TV, allowing the game’s bot characters to play with the item he’d created.

“There are many big publishers creating their own apps for their games, like Watch Dogs or Battlefield, and that’s great,” he added.

“But smaller developers can use PlayStation App to connect to PS4 and load an application, like drawing software for example, so that you don’t have to download and install a specific app on your smartphone. It’s open to all PS4 developers to use.”

We’ll have a more in-depth look at PlayStation App in action nearer launch.

The images above might be our first look at redesigned stock apps in Google’s upcoming Android 4.4 “KitKat” update.

We’ve been reporting on a lot of Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 leaks since we first discovered an unannounced Nexus device in Google’s promotional video for the upcoming OS update.

While images of the Nexus 5 have leaked several times– we posted exclusive photos and video of the device earlier this week– we have yet to get a good look at Android 4.4 KitKat.

Today another reader reached out with the photos above claiming to show redesigns of the phone dialer and messaging apps on KitKat.

The images show new lighter color, grey icons on the status bar, which lines up with our leaked video of the Nexus 5 and a screenshot for a Google Keyboard update spotted by AndroidPolice yesterday.

The images also appear to show a colored status bar that changes depending on the color scheme of the app.

  • Sony exec would like PlayStation games to be ‚playable on all devices‘

Sony exec would like PlayStation games to be ‚playable on all devices‘

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

We heard alot about the ‚Cloud Power‘ from Microsoft in regard to improving the performance of XB1, but Sony is taking a differ route with their ‚Cloud Power‘ and it is all about ’streaming PlayStation‘ games, and at first they are launching it in 2014 to handle streaming PS3 games to PS4, and also there is alot of talk about the new VitaTV doing streaming ’services‘, but now the Sony Worldwide Boss for its studios, thinks in the future streaming PlayStation games will be expanded to ‚all devices‘ including even SmartTV’s, SmartPhones, Tablets, and not just devices carrying the ‚Sony‘ label.

Speaking to Dengeki Online (translated by DualShockers), SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida suggested this could be achieved by utilising the capabilities of cloud networks like Gaikai.

„Speaking of the ultimate goal,“ he said, „we would like to deliver PlayStation games to all devices. So we’re considering various things like PC, TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones and tablets. We hope to continue to expand not only to Sony devices, but even to devices other than Sony’s. This is still being studied.

„We previously spoke about PlayStation going from hardware to something closer to a service, regardless of the device – of course PlayStation will still be the centre, but I think we would like to expand to different things.“

Yoshida said during Tokyo Game Show last week that a number of PS3 games will be available to play on other PlayStation devices beginning next year in North America.

„We are planning to start serving PS3 games on cloud servers in the States next year for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita – and that means PS Vita TV as well – and expand in regions and content.“

David Perry, the Sony employee who managed Gaikai when it was independent, has previously suggested that the ultimate goal is to allow all PS3, PS2 and PSone games to be accessible via the cloud.

  • Google Glass no longer requires tethering plan for smartphone data sharing

Google Glass no longer requires tethering plan for smartphone data sharing

    Reading Time: < 1 minute

An Explorer Edition of Glass is already a pricey piece of tech, and smartphone tethering plans required to give it a mobile Internet connection have only made ownership that much more expensive. However, there’s good news for Google’s guinea pigs: the latest update to the headgear quietly implemented a way around the additional monthly fees.

With XE9 loaded onto headsets, the companion Android app pipes data to and from the hardware, bypassing both the smartphone’s Bluetooth tethering settings and extra plan previously needed from some carriers.

To match the change, the application’s notification icon sports two arrows to signify the flow of info.

We doubt telcos will be fazed by this development for now, but we don’t know if that’ll hold once Glass arrives on shelves and hits the streets en masse. We’ve contacted Google to find out if the feature will make it to retail units.
