May Just Got Better for Xbox Insiders

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Our Xbox Insiders have been critical in providing the next update for Xbox One, set to release this month! Thanks to their feedback, and Xbox engineering, we’re excited to present you with a lightweight update full of improvements to your daily Xbox lives.

The Guide is even easier to use

Team Xbox has been working hard to make the Xbox One Guide your go-to for everything you need to get to quickly and easily on your console. Last month, we unveiled new Guide tabs that allowed you to quickly jump into chat or adjust settings while playing your favorite games. Now we’re improving your ability to navigate Clubs and Friends!

A screenshot of a cell phone Description automatically generated
    People Tab 2

The People and Clubs tabs of the Guide have gotten improvements to consolidate those experiences. You can now find “Discover Clubs” within the Clubs tab, allowing users to find more suggestions for some great communities to join. The “Friend Suggestions” is now under “Find someone” in the Friends tab, making it even easier to find people you may know across Xbox Live!

These additions to the Simplified Guide experience may change overtime. Please continue to leave your feedback and let us know what you think.

Connecting you with the Xbox Community

    Community Console

We want you to feel connected to what’s happening in your corner of Xbox Live and with the rest of the community! The updated Community page on Xbox One makes it clearer where your content is coming from and how to explore all that Xbox Live has to offer. This improved layout splits the page into four new channels:

    • Shared by friends
    • Official posts from games
    • Club activity
    • Popular on Xbox Live

Jump into the Community page from your Xbox One home dashboard and find out what awesome in-game content is being captured.

Improvements added to streams and libraries

We’ve already outlined some great experiences coming to the May update for Xbox One. These two features may seem more subtle, but their impact on your experience is huge!

A screenshot of a video game Description automatically generated

With the changes made to My games & apps, you are more in charge than you’ve ever been in managing your collection the way you want. To continue our efforts to make it easier to sort through and manage your ever-growing library, we’ve added additional features to the Filter option: Genre and Player Count. Trying this out with the Surprise Me! button will get you even more catered results when you’re looking for something different to play.

Your enthusiasm for Mixer drives us to improve the Mixer dashboard experience for streamers and viewers alike! In May, users will see one change on Xbox One that will vastly improve browsing streams.

Live thumbnails previewing a Mixer broadcast makes it so much easier to get a glimpse into the stream before jumping in. With this update, take a scroll through what’s happening on Mixer and find a new favorite streamer.

As a reminder, a subset of users may also see additional features that are not listed here. These features are only enabled for a portion of the Xbox Insider audience to gauge interest and collect feedback.

If you’d like to help create the future of Xbox and get access to early features, download the Xbox Insider Hub on your Xbox One or Windows 10 PC today. You may also visit the Xbox Insider Blog for the latest release notes or join the Xbox Insiders subreddit to submit feedback and join the discussion. We host a weekly refreshed thread (Xbox Requests) for all gaming ideas and feature requests.

Thank you to all Xbox Insiders who are actively helping to shape the Xbox experience. These 2005 updates are possible due to the valuable feedback we receive as part of the program!

  • Editors’ Choice: Persona 5 Royal Steals Hearts With Style

Editors’ Choice: Persona 5 Royal Steals Hearts With Style

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

I can remember the exact moment Persona 5 hooked me back in 2017. Leaping over a shocked casino crowd and fighting off eclectically designed enemies, the devilishly styled Joker attempts a daring escape only to be captured by police forces. It’s a teaser, a taste of the flair for the battle to come, but even then I knew my heart was stolen. Sure enough, I banked well over 100 hours in Persona 5 getting to know Joker and his rabble of rebellious friends, hellbent on protecting the world from corrupt evil forces (i.e. adults, ugh!).

With its heart-stealing narrative and unforgettable characters, it found a perfect balance of teenage Tokyo social sim mixed with otherworldly turn-based combat as you threw on the mask and entered the Metaverse. Sure, I diligently fought my way through elaborate and dangerous Palaces, stealing treasure and fusing powerful new Personas (magical sprites representing your true heart), but I was spending an equal amount of time agonizing over who to spend my days with after class, or working to make sure I maxed out my social skills. It made for a thrilling experience and as the in-game school year flew by, I found myself hopelessly endeared to the Phantom Thieves and their journey.

Which is how they stole my heart all over again with Persona 5 Royal.

From Joker’s electric intro to the new cinematic and showstopping ending, every moment spent in Royal is impactful. Small tweaks make the action within the Metaverse smoother, like the immediate ability to use Baton Pass, or how guns now reload after each encounter. Fellow Phantom Thieves can team up for Showtime attacks: powerful cinematic combos that I unleashed with glee during my playthrough. Palaces feature slightly new layouts to account for Joker’s new grappling hook ability and offer side quests to find hidden Will Seeds, providing much needed SP to elongate each trip into the Metaverse. Boss fights pack a new punch, with additional battle phases that strike deeper narrative chords. Even Mementos, a section of the game that previously felt like a grinding hub, has been improved with new objectives, and a delightful merchant Jose who can provide some incredibly useful items.

Royal’s new improvements also reflect in the real world, where building relationships with fellow Phantom Thieves and other rebellious Tokyo citizens is equal parts addicting and rewarding. Royal expands these moments with newly voiced phone conversations, and the ability to buff characters through fun activities (darts, billiards, and jazz clubs, oh my!). Connecting with confidants helps improve Joker’s abilities in the Metaverse, but often I enjoyed just peeling back their layers and learning their story. From facing best friend Ryuji’s track team regrets to coaxing clinical shut-in Futaba out of her shell, these shared moments expand an already colorful world and make it feel alive, even with the quirkier companions. I was constantly thinking about how to best carve out time to nurture each of these bonds, and felt a significant change of pace thanks to Royal’s new tweaks. No longer will Morgana force you to go to bed at the end of each day; Joker can now take the time to tinker on new tools, play games, make coffee, and even read books at twice the speed. These small everyday moments helped me steal back treasured time, and improved my social skills in record speed.

That especially came in handy when I turned to focus on Royal’s new confidants, aspiring elite gymnast Kasumi and charmingly awkward school counselor Dr. Maruki. In a game already bursting with personality, it’s a testament to Atlus’ narrative chops that I immediately endeared myself to both characters and their struggles. Royal also vastly expands the role of original character Akechi, allowing me to create social links with him outside of scripted plot sequences and ultimately fleshing out one of the game’s most compelling relationship arcs. These characters are woven seamlessly into Joker’s story, and maxing out their social links is necessary to unlock the new third semester end game content. It’s a sequence that you won’t want to miss, with a new boss and Palace that challenge the Phantom Thieves’ perception of reality and make for a nuanced, grounded, and more personal conversation about free will without sacrificing grandeur or style.

Persona 5 Royal adds a heart-stealing expanded story, intriguing new characters, and an endless amount of style onto an already unforgettable JRPG experience. If you’re just joining the Phantom Thieves, or donning the mask for a second time around, one thing is clear: Persona 5 Royal rules.

Inside Xbox May 2020 Episode Recap

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

Everyone here at Xbox is excited to share more about the games and experiences coming in the next generation. Earlier this week, we shared our plans for Xbox 20/20, our new reoccurring series that will be rolling out over the course of the year. We kicked it off today with an episode of Inside Xbox that included a very special First Look at Xbox Series X Gameplay event which highlighted 13 new titles coming to Xbox Series X in the launch window from a variety of our development partners from across the globe. Many of these titles are brand-new properties that are being shown for the very first time, kicking off the new generation in a very exciting way.

We’ve always made a point to showcase great work from developers large and small from around the world, and this is just the beginning. Hundreds of titles are already in development for Xbox Series X thanks to our amazing partner community. We’ll be sharing a lot more in the coming months in our Xbox 20/20 series, not only from those partners but from Xbox Game Studios as well.

We’re also happy to share that all of the games included in today’s show will be Xbox Series X Optimized, meaning they are built to take advantage of the powerful Xbox Series X features that make games look and feel incredible, including 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second, DirectStorage, hardware-accelerated DirectX raytracing, super-fast load times and much more. Putting the power of the console in the hands of developers to decide what’s best for their games is one of our core beliefs and we’re excited for this first look at how they are choosing to leverage the Xbox Series X.

You’ll also probably note that some of the titles below have asterisks next to their names. This means that these games are confirmed to take advantage of Smart Delivery, ensuring you’ll only have to buy that game once knowing you’ll get the best version of that game for whichever Xbox console you’re playing on. Today, we confirmed 9 more titles leveraging this tech for a great customer experience adding to the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and all Xbox Game Studios titles.

For a full recap of what was shown, read on below or watch the replay of Inside Xbox episode above when the VOD is available.

The Medium (Bloober Team): The Medium is a next-gen psychological horror game from Bloober Team, the makers of Blair Witch, Observer, and Layers of Fear. You play as Marianne, a medium living in two worlds: the real and the spirit one. Haunted by a vision of a child’s murder, you travel to an abandoned hotel resort, which many years ago became the stage of an unthinkable tragedy. There you begin your search for difficult answers. The Medium’s soundtrack is a collaboration between two composers – Bloober Team’s Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame – reflecting the game’s most important theme: duality.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2* (Paradox Interactive): What Monster Will You Be? Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society. Experience Seattle – a city full of alluring, dangerous characters and factions. In this sequel to the cult classic, your choices, plots and schemes will change the balance of power.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon* (SEGA): Just announced today, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, an explosive new entry point in the acclaimed Yakuza series, will be releasing as a launch title on Xbox Series X. We are also excited to announce that Yakuza: Like a Dragon will support Xbox Series X Smart Delivery immediately on release. This means that players who purchase the Xbox One version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be entitled to a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X version. Cross-save functionality between Xbox One and Xbox Series X is also supported, so no matter when players decide to upgrade, they never have to start over from rock bottom.

And if a first look at next-gen gameplay, trailers and sneak peeks from this wide variety of partners across the globe and industry wasn’t enough, we heard from Ubisoft, Deep Silver, Bloober Team, and more about what they’re doing with their games on Xbox Series X.

We hope you enjoyed the show, and we’ll be sharing more about the next entry in the Xbox 20/20 series soon!

Bloober Team Announces Psychological Horror Game, The Medium, Coming to Xbox Series X in 2020

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

There’s never one simple truth to what a person will perceive. This is the inspiration behind The Medium – a psychological horror game built around a central motif: how your perspective changes your perception.

Each of our games, from Observer to Layers of Fear to Blair Witch, has a central theme that drives its creative and technological design – and in The Medium we focus on this. When you change your point of view, you discover new truths far different to what you had originally perceived.

    The Medium

To bring this creative theme to life, we have placed players into the role of Marianne, a medium hounded by visions, living and interacting across two worlds: our one, and the spirit world.

Her visions lead her to an abandoned hotel in Krakow, the site of a terrible tragedy many years ago, hiding a mystery only a medium can solve. With access to both worlds, players will have a wider perspective and discover that there’s no one simple truth.

    The Medium

Immersing players in these two worlds is a score composed by Akira Yamaoka, of Silent Hill fame, and Bloober Team’s Arkadiusz Reikowski, working in tandem to create truly unique atmospheres across each world.

Undoubtedly, The Medium is our largest and most ambitious project to date, and it is one that we at Bloober Team have wanted to create for some time. Being able to work with the latest hardware in the form of the Xbox Series X – with 4K resolution, ray-tracing technology and SSD for a single, seamless cinematic experience without loading screens – has finally enabled us to do this vision justice

    The Medium

We’ve also got another few surprises in the coming months that demonstrate why the game is perfect for the Xbox Series X that we cannot yet talk about. So please stay tuned for more information on this.

  • Erster Gameplay-Trailer: Das ist Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Erster Gameplay-Trailer: Das ist Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

  • Reclaim Earth from Evil Mutant Dinosaurs in Second Extinction

Reclaim Earth from Evil Mutant Dinosaurs in Second Extinction

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

It is awesome to finally be able to write about Second Extinction and share with you details of what we at Systemic Reaction have been making with our little team in Malmö, located in southern Sweden.

“Evil Mutant Dinosaurs have taken over the Earth.” That was the pitch Emil, Creative Director at Systemic Reaction, gave me when I came by Avalanche Studios Group for a job interview. A big grin crept across my face. I knew I had to join and help build the team to make the game.

Running with that high concept at its core, Second Extinction is a fast-paced co-op shooter elevated by playing with your friends, although we’d love to see some solo mission runs on Mixer for the truly hardcore.

As the dinosaurs took over our planet, some people made their escape to an orbital station set up by a group called the ERA. Humanity has licked its wounds and now returns to find out more about this unbelievable enemy. This is where The Extinction War begins. Players pick from a roster of four survivors from around the world, a group that will continue to grow after launch.

    Second Extinction

You join up with friends, pick a mission, load-out, and then hurtle your way planetside for your adventure to begin. Once your mission goals have been completed, you’ll have to navigate a dangerous extraction in order for you and your teammates to make it out alive. Safely back home, you get to use your rewards to purchase new weapons, upgrade them, and get ready to leap back in!

We love dinosaurs but wanted our own take on them for Second Extinction. We had to keep a balance so they were recognizably dinosaurs, and not the cute kind. These freaks of nature each have unique traits that require different approaches in combat. How they even exist, the root of the mutations, and their seeming intelligence will be a mystery for players to discover over the coming campaigns.

We set out to make a game that could deliver on the spectacle you would expect from our heritage. We wanted a beautiful natural world, a ton of crazy looking enemies on screen, huge explosions, and as much blood as Nadia, our VFX artist, could pump out. It isn’t subtle, nor did we want it to be. Part of the joy of playing this game comes from that intensity of the action as bombs burst and limbs fly.

With Systemic Reaction being a part of the Avalanche Studios Group, we have the huge benefit of building the game using the APEX Engine. This may lead many to believe our game will feature a massive open world. Instead, I’d like you to think of Second Extinction’s world as more of a Big Map. As we were working with melee vs. ranged (aka claws vs bullets), we found blending the systemic features of an open world with more traditional level design elements made the combat more interesting and strategic.

    Second Extinction

Evolution was another big touchstone for us. We want the game to be a truly live product and that meant building a dynamic element into the core experience. This resulted in a unique feature called The War Effort, which we will delve into at a later time.

We’re a new team of developers from around the world and we all came together to make Second Extinction our first game. It’s been a wild ride so far, getting to know each other as we explored what the game could be. Launch for us is just the beginning, and once we go live we’ll be enriching the feature set as well as dropping regular new content and mixing the game up through each campaign. Collaborating with the community is also part of this exciting journey for us. We’ll make sure to surprise you as we expand upon this world and explore where it can take us together.

See you on the battlefield to kill ‘em all – once and for all!

  • First Look at Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gameplay Reveals Raids, Combat, and More

First Look at Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gameplay Reveals Raids, Combat, and More

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s First Look Gameplay Trailer has arrived, with fighting, feasting, and peeks at the world you’ll be able to explore when the game arrives this Holiday season on Xbox Series X and Xbox One. Taking players to the Viking age, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla puts you in the role of Eivor, a Viking raider and clan leader, to forge a saga that stretches from the cold reaches of Norway to the lush plains of England.

Beginning with shots of blue eyes and a Norse temple silhouetted against the northern lights, the trailer shows us Vikings feasting in a longhouse, a statue of Thor, and a close-up of the Hidden Blade Eivor will carry into battle. We’re then treated to a detailed view of Viking tattoos (with which you’ll be able to customize Eivor) before Eivor’s longship cuts through snowy waterways while Eivor’s raven follows overhead.

As the scene shifts to England, we get a picturesque view of the landscape, centered on a mysterious obelisk – actually a Viking altar. An armored warrior hoists a banner with a rampant red dragon, time passes rapidly over a cairn-covered hillside, and we glimpse contrasted Christian and Viking altars before being greeted with the imposing sight of Stonehenge.

With the scene set, we see the warriors of Aelfred, king of Wessex, assembled amid torchlight before their monarch steps into view. Then it’s time to begin the assault, as Eivor leaps from his longship, rallies his troops with a horn, and launches himself knee-first into a Saxon soldier’s face. Cut to siege machinery being wheeled toward a Saxon fortress, and Eivor launching himself into another enemy, this time with a flying tackle and a finishing blow.

While Assassin’s Creed Valhalla features a new dual-wielding combat system that allows for some particularly brutal takedowns, not all of its combat is close-quarters. We next see Eivor firing a bow toward a ballista perched on a fortress wall, after which the Vikings’ battering ram smashes into its gates and Eivor leads the charge inside. We then get a glimpse of another aspect of the new combat system; Eivor can throw axes at enemies.

As Eivor surveys the flaming destruction, we see a close-up of the same blue eyes that began the trailer – Eivor’s eyes, which shut slowly, almost wearily. We then close on a shot of Eivor’s raven as it perches on his shoulder, clearly ready to launch into the sky at a moment’s notice and – like Hugin and Munin, faithful ravens of the Norse god Odin – provide Eivor with a clearer view of the world around them.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will feature Smart Delivery at launch, meaning that purchasing and playing the game on Xbox One will automatically add it to your library on Xbox Series X when that version arrives. In the meantime, sharpen those axes and get ready to sail for new lands in Holiday 2020.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is, at its core, an underdog story about fighting for what you believe in, even when you’re up against impossible odds. Level up 19 different ‘Jobs’ far from traditional RPG fare: Ichiban isn’t a Warrior or a Mage, but he can be a Bodyguard, a Musician, or even a Chef! Action RPG The Ascent Coming Soon to Xbox Series X

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Welcome to The Ascent Group, a self-contained metropolis stretching high into the sky and filled to the brim with weird and wonderful creatures from across the galaxy. When the survival of your district is threatened, it’s up to you to stop rival corporations and crime syndicates from seizing control – by any means necessary.

The Ascent is an action RPG that’s a real love letter to the sci-fi and cyberpunk worlds many of us grew up with. Players can explore a range of districts, from the deep slums to the higher luxury spheres, loot enemies for upgraded gear, and customize their bodies with a host of slick cyberware. The entire adventure can be played solo or with up to four players in local or online co-op.

We’ve known we have something special on our hands with The Ascent for a long time, so it’s a huge relief to finally share it with the world. When Xbox asked us to be part of their Inside Xbox event today, we couldn’t say yes fast enough.

Planet Veles is one of many planets across the galaxy run by mega corporations – far larger than anything we have today – and travelling between planets costs a huge amount of resource. The biggest of all these mega corps is The Ascent Group. They own everything and everyone – including you.

    The Ascent

But as the game begins, The Ascent Group shuts down for mysterious reasons, causing the city’s automated security systems to go haywire and put your entire world at risk. With riots, rival factions and conspiracy theories spreading like wildfire, it’s time to uncover what’s really happening before it’s too late.

Developer Neon Giant may be an indie studio in terms of size (with just 11 people in total) but they’re definitely AAA at heart. From brutal FPSs like Wolfenstein to first-party classics like Gears of War, the team has a huge amount of experience squeezing every drop they can from the Unreal Engine.

The same goes for The Ascent’s destructive environments. Imagine the lobby scene in “The Matrix” and you’ll get an understanding of Neon Giant’s plans. Every gunfight will leave its mark on the environment, from scarred pillars to crumbling buildings.

The result is a game that’s easily the most visually impressive I’ve worked on during my time at Curve. From classic sci-fi books to modern day action games, The Ascent builds a gorgeous world packed with beloved homages and slick skylines to boot.

    The Ascent

One of the things that sets The Ascent apart from the crowd is the way it blends its cyberpunk elements with more traditional sci-fi tropes. Near-future humans mix with outlandish aliens in densely packed cities where anything is possible. Much like classics Mass Effect and Halo, it’s a balance that celebrates its fantasy feel whilst keeping the gameplay grounded and satisfying.

The Ascent is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X later this year. The support we’ve seen from Xbox has been fantastic, and we can’t wait to share more with you. Be sure to check out our announcement trailer and stay tuned for more details very soon!

Bandai Namco Announces Scarlet Nexus for Xbox Series X and Xbox One

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

On today’s episode of Inside Xbox, Bandai Namco announced a new RPG franchise that’s coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox One. Called Scarlet Nexus, the game will be developed by Bandai Namco Studios and lead by former members of the team that developed the acclaimed Tales of series, including the iconic Tales of Vesperia.

Scarlet Nexus takes place in the far distant future, where a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changed the world as we knew it. As humanity entered this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Impervious to conventional weapons, those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our only chance to fight the onslaught from above and preserve humanity. Since then, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force, humanity’s last line of defense.

In Scarlet Nexus, players will take on the role of Yuito Sumeragi, armed with a talent in psycho-kinesis, and explore the futuristic city of New Himuka and uncover the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and physic abilities. With these psycho-kinetic powers, the world becomes an important ally. Lift, break, and hurl pieces of the environment to build attack combos and lay waste to enemies.

“The next generation of video game home consoles lets the development team realize the full potential of Scarlet Nexus,” said Producer Keita Iizuka from Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. “Players can expect visuals and psychic battles with high resolution and frame rate along with fully interactive real-time battles with dynamic animation. Utilizing Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X also means players can enjoy the best version of Scarlet Nexus regardless of whether they are playing on the next generation with Xbox Series X or Xbox One.”

Scarlet Nexus aims to change the way gamers view Japanese RPGs with a powerful futuristic aesthetic as well as a streamlined combat system that balances fast-paced action with strategic planning,” said Stephen Akana, Senior Brand Manager for Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. “Lead by an extremely talented team at Bandai Namco Studios, including members from fan-favorite title Tales of Vesperia, Scarlet Nexus combines years of game development experience with the excitement and creative freedom of the power behind the next generation of home console systems.”

Scarlet Nexus will be available for the Xbox Series X and Xbox One and will utilize Smart Delivery, which ensures that you always play the best version of the games you own for your console, across generations.

  • An Otherworldly Adventure Awaits You in Call of the Sea

An Otherworldly Adventure Awaits You in Call of the Sea

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Our upcoming game Call of the Sea was announced today on Inside Xbox and we are so incredibly happy to finally reveal it to you.

Honestly, it feels as if our deep hidden secret has finally been revealed, the first clue that will lead you to the shores of a nameless island in the South Pacific. There we hope you will soon take your first steps into an amazing adventure. We have worked on this first-person adventure puzzle game for a year and we are still in development – but our goal is to bring a wonderful mystery to you before the end of the year.

Out of the Blue is a brand-new studio of 12 veteran game developers hailing from Madrid, Spain. While most of us are based in Spain, other members of the team are in Greece and the US. We previously worked on a bunch of games before joining forces, including Red Matter, Metroid: Samus Returns, Deadlight, Gylt, Celeste, Guacamelee 2 and Spacelords.

    Call of the Sea

Call of the Sea is our first game together, and it is an otherworldly adventure that takes place in the 1930s. It is a story-driven game that lets you take on the role of Norah, a woman who has crossed an ocean in a desperate search of her husband, who has gone missing on an expedition.

And, amazingly enough, we have the luck of having actress Cissy Jones as the voice of Norah. We adored her acting in Firewatch, especially her ability to create a strong presence with only her voice, conveying emotions to make the character feel so alive and close. That is what we wanted for our main character Norah, because we want you as a player to care for her and share her emotions. We are striving for a calmer, deeper and more intelligent love story between Norah and her husband, a relationship that we feel is too rarely portrayed in games.

So why are we creating a puzzle-based first-person adventure game? Well, we on the dev team grew up with both adventure and puzzle games and we love them to pieces. Games like Firewatch, Subnautica, Red Matter, Myst, Soma, and Obduction were definitely sources of inspiration for us. You might say that Call of the Sea is our love letter to the genre and a way of deepening our own experience and adding new dimensions to it. We hope to create a game for everyone out there that carries a nostalgic torch for the genre and for new players that have yet to discover the joy of adventure games with puzzle solving.

    Call of the Sea

You might be asking yourself, “an otherworldly adventure game – what do they really mean by that?” Well, not only do we absolutely love adventure games, but we all also have a secret passion for the supernatural and the occult. In fact, we are all huge H.P. Lovecraft fans and are inspired by his work. To be clear, Call of the Sea is not a horror game. Far from it. But you might say that we are inspired by the way Lovecraft tells some of his stories. We want you to solve the mystery we have created, slowly realizing that there is more to the world than meets the eye and piecing together what has taken place before you arrived on the island. We’re after the sensation that comes when the mind tries to grasp a solution that lingers, tantalizingly, almost within reach.

During your journey in Call of the Sea we want to awaken your curiosity. You will discover remnants of a lost civilization and occult secrets while searching for clues about what fate has befallen the expedition. You will also begin to realize that things are not all as they first seem. On occasions, reality will suddenly become distorted and surreal.

We hope to give you a vivid mystery and an emotional journey. What strange secrets of the past does the island hold, and what might you unearth in your quest for the truth?

The adventure in Call of the Sea will take place on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC in late 2020 and will be available with Xbox Game Pass when the game launches.
