Help us make it easier for you to design products with Raspberry Pi

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

We want to improve the way we support companies that design with Raspberry Pi computers, and we need your help to do it.

Raspberry Pi’s success is thanks to the community that exists around it.  When we launched Raspberry Pi 4, our most powerful computer yet, we gave our community the chance to ask our engineers all about the new product.

A shiny Raspberry Pi 4 on a flat white surface, viewed at an angle

Now we’d like to turn the tables and ask you some questions as we work to improve the support we offer to people and organisations that design using Raspberry Pi.

If you have experience of designing products or industrial solutions that use Raspberry Pi, we would love to hear from you.

    Raspberry Pi in products

Raspberry Pi has been used to power products from Compute Module-based industrial controllers made by Kunbus

Three smart, compact orange and grey RevPi Core 3 enclosures mounted on a din rail

…to Raspberry Pi-based washing machines with Raspberry Pi touchscreen displays from Marathon.

Sleek-looking charcoal grey washing machine with a dark red door trim and a large colour display screen

Organisations are increasingly using various kinds of Raspberry Pi computer to power products and solutions, and we want to do more to support designers.

    Please help us!

If you have experience as a design consultancy that uses Raspberry Pi computers in products, or if you have used a designer to build a product that includes a Raspberry Pi, we would love to talk to you about it. You will help shape what we offer in the future, and make designing products with Raspberry Pi simple, quick, and powerful.

    Get in touch

If you use Raspberry Pi in products or in industrial solutions, I want to talk to you. Please fill in this form with a few details of your experience so we can talk more.

New Steam Level Available Now for Human: Fall Flat on Xbox One

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

    Hello there, fellow Xbox humans!

It’s been another incredible year for Human: Fall Flat. Since launching the spooky nighttime level Dark on Xbox One earlier this year, our quirky puzzle-puzzle platformer has gone from strength to strength – and it’s all thanks to you. Feedback on the level has been incredible, and we’ve been working hard to get even more new content into your eager hands as soon as we could.

Human: Fall Flat - SteamHuman: Fall Flat - Steam

The result is Steam: a brand-new free Human: Fall Flat level available to download on Xbox One right now. Hooray!

Set in a steam-powered dreamscape, Steam’s puzzles revolve around the use of water vapor to power the many pipes and furnaces sprinkled across each level. Fans of classic Human: Fall Flat levels Demolition and Power Plant will be right at home, but the addition of steam as a puzzle element adds a whole new perspective.

Human: Fall Flat - SteamHuman: Fall Flat - Steam

There’s no wrong way to play Human: Fall Flat, and this new level is no different. Race your way to the end of a level, or spend your time throwing friends off cliffs – it’s totally up to you. Just make sure you watch out for the furnace. Once you get it working, things might get a little dangerous…

As with all our upcoming levels, Steam is fully playable in every mode of Human: Fall Flat. You can explore the level solo, team up with a friend in local co-op, or join up to seven other players online.

Human: Fall Flat - SteamHuman: Fall Flat - Steam

We’ve had a blast with Steam here in the Curve offices and can’t wait for you to fall into the level yourself. A big perk of working at Curve is getting early access to new levels, and I can say from experience that Steam is classic Human: Fall Flat. It has the perfect balance of puzzle solving and obligatory human-flinging nonsense you’ve all been waiting for.

Borderlands 3 Hands On: Let’s Spec a Character!

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

My hands-on preview of Borderlands 3 at gamescom 2019 began quite unusually, as these things go. No tutorial, no spiel from a game director or designer; just straight into the character selection screen, as if I were playing at home. For all the talk about millions, or even billions of weapons in Borderlands, I’ve found it’s your character, with all of their special abilities, passive powers, and personality, that really gives the series such a unique feel.

I became a big fan of the Mechromancer whilst playing through the Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary content for Borderlands 2 this summer (which, if you’re anticipating Borderlands 3, you should definitely set aside a couple hours for), so I was hungry for a class firmly in the “you’ll never walk alone” category. Enter FL4K, Borderlands 3‘s Beastmaster, who can employ no fewer than three different pets, in addition to summoning irradiated rifts or even fade in and out of existence when things get a bit too hot on Promethia (we’ve moved on from Pandora).

    Borderlands 3Borderlands 3

With FL4K selected, I flipped over to my abilities tab and my face lit up; more than 28 ability points awaited to immediately build FL4K out however I liked. As a fan of skill trees (it’s a thing), it was like being presented a diploma, a car, and a job on the first day of school; I may not know what to do with those things, but I’ll have a fun time figuring it out.

A Borderlands veteran will find much to be familiar here, albeit imbued with some new twists. Players may now select which Action skill to equip, choices multiplying as you unlock new abilities. In FL4K’s case, that means being able to select different bestial companions, including a flying Rakk and an armored Spiderant Centurion. Additionally, players may equip passive modifiers to buff their active abilities; unlocking the ability to spawn a second Rakk into action, for example.

    Borderlands 3Borderlands 3

A staffer nearby recommended adopting a “Jabber” as a pet, and I poured enough points into its growth and development to graduate it to a “Beefcake Jabber,” a bigger, badder beastie whose inflicted damage would translate into health for me. While it’s busy killin’, I’m busy living.

After spending entirely too much time attempting to make the best FL4K possible, out comes my Level 30 Beastmaster ready to fight – about 30 hours sooner than I expect to wield a Level 30 in the final retail experience.

    Borderlands 3Borderlands 3

I was then thrown into a combat-laden trial of survival which proved a perfect place to put my buffed out FL4K through the paces. I moved and blasted through wave after wave of enemies, progressing through a level culminating in a boss fight versus a Skag of Survival (spoiler alert: it didn’t). Truthfully, my Jabber did the majority of the work.

This is the Borderlands action you – if you’re reading this – likely crave, though I’d also like to call out the improved visuals of this Xbox One X Enhanced title. Having recently played through the aforementioned Commander Lilith DLC, part of the remastered Borderlands 2 experience, this new Borderlands clearly looks better. More detailed textures, better draw distance, lighting effects, smoother gameplay, all while there was so much more happening on screen. Oftentimes I was shooting through the explosions, looking for that all-important CRITICAL indicator letting me know my aim is true.

    Borderlands 3Borderlands 3

But that’s not what I’ll be thinking about between now and Borderlands 3‘s September 13 release date. No, I’ll be tweaking my FL4K’s abilities via an excellent interactive skill tree over on the Borderlands website. It’s the near-endless possibilities that have me counting down the days until then.

If you’ve ever daydreamed about wrenching on the engine of your very own classic muscle car and taking it online to dominate a high-speed racing circuit, then Wreckfest is for you. If the thought of converting your living room couch into a riding vehicle and tearing past a combine and a big rig instantly brings a smile to your face, then guess what else? Wreckfest is also for you!

    WreckfestWreckfest

Here at BugBear Entertainment, we know that drivers defy definition. The rush of getting behind the wheel and hitting the gas pedal is as personal as it is universal. That’s why we dropped the broadest spectrum of vehicle types, racing modes, and events, as well as tracks and courses into Wreckfest.

Our true-to-life physics allow you to not only feel damage during competition, but actually see parts come flying off your vehicle in the middle of your race (or busy intersection)! We custom built each vehicle model to bend, break, shatter, and for you more reckless drivers, ultimately shred apart.

    WreckfestWreckfest

Each vehicle can be modified with customizable parts for defense, speed, and agility. They can also be further tuned based on the event type and race rules. All of this means layer upon layer of destruction awaits.

So, whether your driving style is hooptie or hot rod, it’s time to start your engines because Wreckfest is available now on Xbox One!

Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention that you start Wreckfest riding on a lawnmower. Have fun and try not to get wrecked!

When you need a distraction, or perhaps even now, you may turn to tapping on your desk. While a good way to keep your hands active, or pass a few uninteresting seconds, if you want to get serious with your finger drumming, then the “Arduino USB Drum” by creator colonelwatch may be just the thing.

The 3D-printable device hooks onto the edge of the table, and reads taps on its pads with a pair of strain gauges. Signals are amplified and passed along to an Arduino Uno—including tap intensity—which sends MIDI data to a computer via serial.

Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Lands on Xbox One January 21, 2020

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Taking legendary Reploids into the far future alongside a new generation of heroes looking to carve out their own story, Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection brings intense action from all six games to Xbox One on January 21, 2020 and is available for pre-order today on the Microsoft Store!

Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy CollectionMega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection

If you missed these games the first time around, now’s a great time to catch up! On top of the six included games (Mega Man Zero through Mega Man Zero 4, as well as Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent), you’ll be getting a ton of bonus content including galleries filled with art, a music player to listen to tracks from each game, and even a new game mode called Z Chaser!

Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy CollectionMega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection

As for the games themselves, the Mega Man Zero franchise focuses on, you guessed it, Zero. This legendary Reploid featured heavily in the Mega Man X games, but his own series takes place hundreds of years later. Zero awakes from his long slumber to aid Resistance forces against the oppressive rule of an entity known only as Neo Arcadia. It’s up to you to slash and blast your way through tough stages in order to take down challenging bosses, all while uncovering the secrets behind the disastrous events that happened hundreds of years before.

Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy CollectionMega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection

Centuries after the events of Mega Man Zero come to an end, the Mega Man ZX series introduces brand new heroes that must square off against a new, yet old threat: Mavericks – berserk Reploids that attack anything they see. As Vent or Aile, discover your ability to megamerge with a unique type of relic known as Biometal to take on new forms. Put a stop to Maverick menaces while investigating the sudden appearance of a new and dangerous enemy. In the direct sequel, Mega Man ZX Advent, a new pair of heroes looking to make their mark on history have their own stories to tell. Join either Ashe or Grey as they each discover who they are with a little help from Biometal Model A. Expanding on the first game, you won’t just gain new forms from defeated foes. You’ll be able to use “A-Trans” to literally copy their DNA and transform into bosses to use their unique abilities!

If you’re more the type that likes to sit back, relax, and enjoy a thrilling story, Casual Scenario Mode and Save-Assist have you covered. Casual Scenario Mode offers the same core gameplay experience, but powers up your character and lessens the penalty of spikes and pits from instant death to taking damage instead. Save-Assist automatically saves your game mid-mission, giving you a point to restore from if things go wrong or if you simply need a break and want to pick up where you left off. Both Casual Scenario Mode and Save-Assist can be turned on and off for each game, putting the power of how you want to play in your hands.

There are lots of additional features, too, including optional visual filters (including the original pixel graphics), multiple dual-screen layouts for ZX and ZX Advent, and a few other enhancements.

There’s a lot to look forward to when Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection brings all six of these great games to Xbox One! As an added bonus, you can pre-order now for an extra ten in-game tracks via the “Reploid Remixes,” allowing you to swap out six in-game tracks for high-energy remixes and adding an additional four tracks to the game’s music player. Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection Dashes to PS4

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

Six games across two series megamerge into one giant collection! Taking legendary Reploids into the far future alongside a new generation of heroes looking to carve out their own story, Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection brings the intense action of all four Mega Man Zero games and both Mega Man ZX games to PlayStation 4 on January 21, 2020.

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy CollectionMega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection

    Way Beyond 21XX

If you’re familiar with Mega Man X, then you’re familiar with his mentor and long-time partner, Zero. Fully playable for the first time in Mega Man X4 on the PlayStation, Zero added a new angle to the classic gameplay formula of Mega Man with his close-range Z-Saber and ability to copy enemy techniques, as opposed to X’s ability to copy their unique weapon systems – a key difference in how each character played. Even after numerous adventures, Zero’s story didn’t end with the events of the Mega Man X games.

If you’re a fan of Zero or the Mega Man X games in general, you’ll want to see where Zero’s story picks up hundreds of years later, beginning with the aptly titled Mega Man Zero. Setting the stage for the revival of the legendary Reploid, join Zero, human scientist Ciel, and Resistance forces in their fight for a better future. As the events of each Mega Man Zero game unfold, you’ll learn more about the fate of old friends, such as X, and gain powerful new allies. However, along the way you’ll also cross paths with terrifyingly destructive foes like the fearsome Omega and the twisted Dark Elf.

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy CollectionMega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection

    The Resurrection of a Legend

Series fans know Zero isn’t defenseless, of course. Even hundreds of years later, Zero is still an A-Class Hunter and knows how to fight. You’ll need to bring your A-Class skills if you want to survive what’s ahead of you! While ranking was mostly for personal pride in prior Mega Man X games, Mega Man Zero introduced a new ranking system that graded you on how well you played. When you maintain an A or S rank, bosses will give it everything they’ve got and unleash powerful “EX” moves – which, depending on the game, Zero can copy once he’s defeated his foe! Unlike other Mega Man games, defeating a boss doesn’t guarantee you’ll get a new technique; you’ll need to put your skills to the test if you want to earn those abilities!

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy CollectionMega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection

    Fight for the Future

A few hundred years after the events of Mega Man Zero, humans and Reploids now live together in peace at the start of Mega Man ZX. However, a certain megalomaniac’s legacy lives on, and an old threat has re-emerged: Mavericks. When a few rogue Reploids set their sights on a couple of Transporters on a routine job, fate intervenes to set one of them on a brand-new path. Choose from two playable characters, Vent or Aile, and take on new forms with the help of mysterious living artifacts known as Biometal Model X and Model Z. It’s up to you to discover the reason for the resurgence of Mavericks and put a stop to the rise of a brand new villain who wields the nefarious Model W.

Taking place several years after the first game, Mega Man ZX Advent is a direct sequel and introduces a new pair of heroes looking to make their own mark on history while they uncover their past. With two overlapping stories to tell, join either Ashe or Grey as they discover their role as a Mega Man – someone who can megamerge with Biometals, such as Model A – to put a stop to a new threat and maybe understand just who, exactly, they were meant to be. Expanding on the first game, you won’t just gain new forms from defeated foes; you’ll be able to use the unique ability of Model A, “A-Trans,” to copy their DNA and transform into bosses on the fly, allowing you to use their unique abilities to fight enemies and explore the environment in brand-new ways. No one said it would be easy, but with a little help from your friends and the skills of fallen foes, you just might be able to put an end to the brutal “Game of Destiny,” designed to pit Mega Men against each other to discover the strongest one of them all.

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy CollectionMega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection

    Take the Edge Off

If all of that seems a bit too intense and you just want to relax while enjoying the story, Casual Scenario Mode and Save-Assist have you covered. Casual Scenario Mode offers the same core gameplay experience while powering up your character and reducing the penalty of spikes and pits from instant death to taking damage instead. In addition, Save-Assist automatically saves your game mid-mission, giving you a point to restore from if things go wrong or if you’re looking to practice a difficult section or boss. It’s particularly useful if you’re looking to keep your rank high in Mega Man Zero games! Each of these features can be turned on or off for each game, putting the power of how you want to play in your hands.

    Classic Gameplay, Modern Features

There’s lots more we haven’t covered just yet, including optional visual filters, different screen ratios, and different layouts for the second display that features in ZX and ZX Advent! There’s even more to do beyond the games themselves, with an art gallery stuffed with illustrations, a music player featuring tracks from all six games, and exclusive new songs made for Zero / ZX Legacy Collection. You can also switch between multiple versions of each game (including the original Japanese releases). Of course, we can’t forget the new Z Chaser Mode that snuck into the end of the trailer – though you’ll have to wait a bit to hear more about that.

If you’re ready to dive in as soon as the collection is available, you can pre-order now for an additional selection of ten tracks to listen to in-game! The “Reploid Remixes” include six new remixes of an iconic song or theme from each game, replacing the in-game music with a brand new track made just for Zero/ZX Legacy Collection. You can also listen to an additional four tracks made specifically for the collection via the in-game music player.

Embrace a Surreal Power Trip with Control – Out on PS4 Today

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

It’s a big day for 505 Games and Remedy Entertainment today, as we launch Control on PlayStation 4. For those who know very little about Control, let me fill you in… Control is a supernatural third-person action-adventure title from the wonderful team at Remedy Entertainment. You play as Jesse Faden, the new Director of the Federal Bureau of Control. The FBC is a secret government agency in the heart of New York, based at The Oldest House. It’s your job to seek answers and regain Control after an invasion (known as the Hiss) takes over their HQ. It won’t be long until you realize all is not as it seems… This otherworldly threat creates an unpredictable world that will challenge Jesse and push her to her limits.

To give you an idea what to expect, we’ve highlighted five things you need to know in order to regain Control (We’ve kept it spoiler friendly, don’t worry!)

    ControlControl

    1. Keep an Eye on your Surroundings

Look at what’s around you and use what you see to your advantage. See that table in the corner? That fire extinguisher on the wall? Use your telekinesis ability to grab it from afar. Hurl objects using your Launch ability to take down the Hiss.

    ControlControl

    2. Get Off the Ground

Remember Jesse has supernatural powers, so be sure to use them! The ability to Levitate will not only help during battle but will allow you to reach certain places in The Oldest House otherwise inaccessible. Think outside the box and use this ability to your advantage.

    ControlControl

    3. Defend Yourself

Defense is super important in Control. Evade will allow you to make sharp and swift movements, allowing Jesse to get out of fire range in quick time. There will be circumstances where you must rely on the environment for protection. Create a Shield using objects around you during moments when you need to put up a guard.

    ControlControl

    4. Understand the Service Weapon

The Service Weapon is an incredibly powerful tool. Taking five different forms, Jesse must learn and adapt to using the right form in the right situation. Struggling to take down a boss? Step back and take a moment to think about how you’re using the Service Weapon.

    ControlControl

    5. Seize Control

Jesse has the ability to Seize control of enemies, allowing them to assist you in battle. The Seize ability can really help in situations where you could use a helping hand. Teamwork makes the dream work.

There’s so much more I could tell you, but let’s leave it at this for now. The world of Control is a deep, unpredictable one. A world that Remedy Entertainment have so finely crafted over the last few years. You’re about to experience something unbelievable in Control.

Now is probably a perfect time to wrap things up. On behalf of the whole team involved here at 505 Games and Remedy, thank you! Since Control was announced at E3 2018 as part of the PlayStation conference, the level of support we’ve received has been staggering. The excitement, enthusiasm and love from our fans has got us to this point. We cannot wait for you to pick up Control and tell us what you think. Happy launch day!

  • Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection dasht auf PS4

Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection dasht auf PS4

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

Kellen Haney, Social Media Specialist, Capcom

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection on PS4

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection

    Klassisches Gameplay, moderne Features

Mega Man Zero \ ZX Legacy Collection

    Megamerge!

    • Mega Man Zero
    • Mega Man Zero 2
    • Mega Man Zero 3
    • Mega Man Zero 4
    • Mega Man ZX
    • Mega Man ZX Advent

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Antonela Pounder, Senior Brand Community Manager at 505 Games

    Control on PS4

    Control on PS4

    2. Runter vom Boden

    Control on PS4

    3. Verteidigt euch

    Control on PS4

    Control on PS4

Frohen Launch-Tag!

  • 10 Gameplay Tips for Control, Available Now on Xbox One

10 Gameplay Tips for Control, Available Now on Xbox One

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

We’re delighted to announce that Control is out now on Xbox One. For those unaware (where have you been?) Control is a 3rd person action-adventure supernatural developed by our friends at Remedy Entertainment and published here at 505 Games. You know these devs… This is the immensely talented team responsible for award-winning titles such as Quantum Break, Alan Wake, and Max Payne, just to name a few.

In Control, you play as Jesse Faden, director of a secretive government agency in New York, which has been taken over by a supernatural threat known as the Hiss. It’s up to you as a new director to regain control and obtain answers, using your supernatural abilities and trusty Service Weapon. Get ready to be challenged in this unstable, unfamiliar world.

Before you head off and explore the world of Control, we’ve gathered the thoughts of some of our team and put together some top tips for you guys. They will help, trust us…

    • I encourage players to explore as much as they can. They will discover all kinds of exciting narrative lore including more about characters, the FBC (Federal Bureau of Control) and the Oldest House. We love hiding some of the best things in tricky places. Not all the abilities are in main missions. Venture out into the Oldest House to uncover Objects of Power that have gone astray because of the Hiss invasion. If you’re up to the task, you can bind them and grow more powerful. Brooke Maggs, Narrative Designer, Remedy
    • Pay attention to the sound. Besides the eerie tracks, the sound in Control is your ally and can help with identifying corrupted FBC agents, even when you can’t see them. In fact, it can be a deciding factor as to whether you survive a battle or not. Got a good sound-system or rocking a pair of immersive headphones? Crank up the volume and experience the amazing sound design work. It shines through gameplay. Lucas Liaskos, Brand Community Manager, 505 Games

    ControlControl

    • Try new combinations of weapons and abilities against enemies as you gain them. Melee, for example, is extremely powerful in close-range combat against most enemy types and pairs very well with the base Grip weapon form. Each weapon form in Control has a unique role in the game. Try each form against different enemies to see how they react. You might be surprised at how much fun and powerful some of these weapon forms are in certain situations, especially when combined with abilities. Paul Ehreth, Lead Designer, Remedy
    • You’re going to have to get to grips with the balance of swiftly switching between Jesse’s abilities and the power of the Service Weapon. The combinations are endless! Saying that, Control is not all about floating and raining down a firestorm of bullets. Jesse has some trusty allies awaiting throughout the Bureau, to help you navigate out the complex environments and to aid you in discovering the secrets behind her journey. JayJ High, Multimedia Designer, 505 Games
    • The environment is Jesse’s greatest ally in combat. Always look to see what opportunities are available. When you see an enemy ready a powerful attack, position yourself behind something sturdy. You can even use Levitate to quickly rise from behind high cover, fire a quick barrage of bullets before tapping the jump input to drop back down to safety. Always keep your eyes peeled for strategically placed Launch objects, such as loud-speakers and fire extinguishers, which can be torn from their wall mounts. If you position an enemy between you and the Launch object, it’ll hit the enemy in the back as it travels to your position. This may stagger them, giving you a valuable window to deal damage. Thomas Hudson, Senior Game Designer, Remedy

    ControlControl

    • Every side quest is a potential wonder! Some of the most breath taking, nerve-wracking and downright frightening things in game have come as a result of tackling what I thought was a relatively minor quest. Additionally, some of the lore found in these quests add whole new layers of depth to the world of Control. Patrick Hargreaves, Associate Producer, 505 Games
    • Ahti is one of the weirdest employees of the Federal Bureau of Control. He seems to think Jesse is there as his assistant, so he’ll be giving you little odd jobs to do now and again. Like incinerating a whole bunch of toxic waste. It’s worth going back to see him at his office occasionally, to check if he has some new tasks for you. And once you’ve done them all, there’s a special reward in it for Jesse. Vida Starcevic, Community Manager, Remedy
    • The key to winning fights in Control is to use the abilities to your advantage. Launch is a great way to deal heavy damage (especially if the item explodes), combined with a few shots from the service weapon, is a super effective way early on to gain an upper hand. Once you unlock seize, this helps you take control of enemies, which later in the game is a huge benefit. It takes some of the heat off you, plus if you seize the orb it’ll buff your health while you fight. Marcus Toon, UK Marketing Manager, 505 Games

    ControlControl

    • Control doesn’t have a location marker/GPS system, only a (largely symbolic and intentionally vague) map. But if you read the quest descriptions, listen to characters and look for signs in the environment, you can always find a way to navigate the Oldest House. Occasionally, a side mission can be triggered from a seemingly innocuous collectible hidden in a side room somewhere, or from a sequence of random actions that form a pattern. In Control, not everything is as straightforward as defeating an enemy or talking to an NPC. These secrets will often reveal an amazing Easter egg, piece of lore or lead you to some epic loot. If you can access an area with tougher enemies, however, it doesn’t always mean that you should go fight them right away. You can certainly try to get some higher-level loot, but if you notice that some encounter is too challenging, you can always gear up, unlock some new abilities and come back to it later. Sergey Mohov, Senior Game Designer, Remedy
    • Levitate! As much as possible. Honestly, you will thank me later – when you’re levitating you can dodge and manoeuvre with less obstacles in the way and can see attacks coming with less obstruction in combat. Master this, and you will start tying abilities together much more effectively! Ben Godwin, Export Sales Manager, 505 Games

There you have it! Ten top tips that will help you in the world of Control.

To wrap things up, we’ve been working with the team over at Remedy on Control for several years now, and it’s been an incredible journey. To see Control launch is a brilliant achievement by everyone involved and we really hope you can see the love and energy that’s gone into making it happen.

Let me also take this opportunity to say thank you to our community. Since announce, we’ve been truly overwhelmed by your support. It really does mean the world to everyone.

Control is available now for Xbox One on the Microsoft Store. Click here for purchase details.

We consistently hear from gamers that streamers’ content helps motivate them to discover their next favorite game, whether it’s the latest AAA release, a puzzling indie platformer or even a must-play classic. It’s why we first built Mixer Direct Purchase back in 2018, allowing partners to earn from game and DLC sales on their Mixer channel. At Mixer, we support rewarding creators for the recommendations they make, as well as their gameplay.

Today, with Xbox Game Pass, we’re excited to expand the ways creators can earn on Mixer with a new program. Mixer Partners will receive $3 compensation for every new member that joins Xbox Game Pass and credits their channel with a code. How does this work? New Xbox Game Pass members or existing members upgrading to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will have 30 days from the start of their membership to enter a Mixer Partner’s code into the Xbox (beta) app on PC or the Xbox Game Pass app on iOS or Android.

You can access this feature by opening the account menu in either application and selecting the “Support a creator” button. If you’re not seeing the account menu button, check for an app update. The PC app update will start rolling out today, the mobile app update will roll out later this week. For a list of Mixer Partners and their codes, click here.

Anyone who signs up for a new Xbox Game Pass membership (Ultimate, Console or PC) is eligible, as well as any existing Xbox Game Pass (Console or PC) or Xbox Live Gold members who upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. And best of all, you can join or upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate today and get your first two months for $2.

Xbox Game Pass is all about discovering your next favorite game. Whether that’s access to new Xbox Game Studios games like Gears 5 (coming soon) and The Outer Worlds (coming soon) the same day as their global launch, or high-quality games like Devil May Cry 5 (Console) and Blair Witch (Console & PC), there’s something for every gamer.

With the important role content creators like Mixer Partners play in the discovery of new games, it was a natural step for us to build this program. But it is just the first step. Keep an eye out for future Mixer and Xbox Game Pass news – we may have something else in the works. Stay tuned.

Have more questions? Check out the full program FAQ here. And let us know what you think at @WatchMixer on Twitter.

These interactive drawing machines are inspired by Japanese zen gardens

    Arduino TeamAugust 27th, 2019

Artist Jo Fairfax has created automated drawing machines inspired by carefully manicured Japanese rock gardens, AKA zen gardens. The mesmerizing artwork uses magnets and motors that move underneath a bed of iron filings, generating soothing shapes as viewers come near via motion sensor.

An Arduino Uno is utilized for the device, or rather devices, and you can see a square “magnet garden” in the first video below, automatically producing a circular pattern. A (non-square) rectangular garden sketches a sort of snake/wave pattern in the second clip.

The build is reminiscent of sand drawing machines that rotate a metal marble through magnetic force, but does away with a visible source of movement as the filings react directly to the magnetic field as it’s applied.

An Arduino Uno is programmed to set off a mechanism with integrated magnets below the platform of iron filings. each time a viewer approaches the machine, it starts to ‘draw’ and agitate the black particles, moving them around the platforms. Slowly the drawings become three dimensional and the sense of the magnets’ tracing becomes visible.

The charged iron filings create varying geometric clusters that shape the zen gardens. The drawing machines reveal the forces acting on them, imitating grass and sand that react to the natural force of the wind. the gesture of the viewer’s movement that activates the machine coupled with the magnetic power makes the artwork become a dialogue of forces… elegant and subtle, just like a zen garden.
