Our useful tips will show you how to get started with Tales of Arise and progress in the game.
First, let’s talk about Battle basics. As Tales of Arise is a JRPG, you’ll have to go through lots of fights to survive and pursue your missions. Knowing how to fight and mastering Combat system basics will be key to start your journey in Tales of Arise.
Combat system basics
Base actions consist of normal attacks and Artes, which have been featured in the gameplay of previous Tales Of games. In Tales of Arise, we wanted to recreate this combo string and thus revived the Normal Attack mechanics. The enemy won’t simply fall and Normal Attacks are designed to create the perfect breakthrough.
First, weaken the enemy with Normal Attacks. Then, continue with the Martial and Arcane Artes that will create a smooth combo flow! Press [R1] to perform a Normal Attack.
Artes and Artes Gauge
To use Artes in Tales of Arise, you have an Artes Gauge. For a stronger emphasis on action in combat gameplay, itis now possible to do Artes continuously using the Artes Gauge resource that recovers automatically during battle. The added balance between Normal Attacks and the option to use continuous Artes makes the flow of battle a lot more exciting.
There are two types of Artes: Martial Artes and Arcane Artes. Keep in mind that Arcane Artes are more powerful and resource-consuming than Martial Artes. The Artes Gauge will recover more slowly when attacking.
As you progress in the game, you will be able to increase the Artes Gauge by acquiring new skills.
Press [Triangle], [Square], or [Cross] to use the arte assigned to each button.
Evasion and Counter Edge
Most characters can only execute a perfect evade, whereas Kisara has the special option toguard. It’s always a good idea to create distance between you and your enemy whenever possible to avoid taking damage. Push [L Stick] and press [L1] to evade an enemy attack.
Another important feature is the Counter Edge. The Counter Edge was created to make the battle combos more enjoyable. With the updates in battle gameplay, we eliminated the guarding requirement that comes before the Counter Edge. After executing a successful evasion and performing a Normal Attack, you can now trigger a Counter Edge, which will make your characters perform a counterattack.
Boost Attacks and Boost Strikes
Each character in Tales of Arise has their own Boost Attack, which perfectly reflects their individual strengths. Involve allies in your battles to use their own Boost Attacks pressing the corresponding pad direction to damage.
Boost Strikes are one-hit kill attacks performed in collaboration with other Tales of Arise characters.
Boost Strikes will make your battles spectacular whether it’s a low-level enemy or boss fight.
When the word “STRIKE” shows up on your screen, make sure to press the pad to trigger a Boost Strike to finish off your attacker!

Schwächt eure Gegner zunächst mit normalen Angriffen. Macht dann mit Kampf–Artes und Arkan-Artes weiter und kreiert so einen schönen Fluss an Kombos!
Drückt [R1], um einen normalen Angriff auszuführen.
Artes und Artes-Leiste
Um Artes in Tales of Arise einsetzen zu können, habt ihr eine Artes-Leiste. Für ein actionreicheres Kampf-Gameplay ist es nun möglich, Artes kontinuierlich einzusetzen, indem ihr die Artes-Leiste nutzt, die sich während des Kampfes automatisch füllt. Das Balancing zwischen normalen Angriffen und kontinuierlichen Artes macht die Kampfdynamik deutlich aufregender.
Es gibt zwei verschiedene Artes: Kampf-Artes und Arkan-Artes. Beachtet hierbei, dass Arkan-Artes deutlich mächtiger sind als Kampf-Artes, aber auch mehr Ressourcen benötigen. Die Artes-Leiste wird sich beim Angreifen langsamer aufladen.
Je weiter ihr in das Spiel eintauch, desto mehr wird sich eure Artes-Leiste auffüllen und ihr könnt neue Fähigkeiten lernen.
Drückt [Dreieck], [Viereck] oder [Kreuz], um das Arte einzusetzen, das dieser Taste zugewiesen ist.
Ausweichen und Kontern
Die meisten Charaktere können nur ein perfektes Ausweichmanöver durchführen, aber Kisara hat die spezielle Option für einen Block. Es ist immer eine gute Idee, möglichst viel Abstand zu euren Gegnern zu halten, um weniger Schaden zu nehmen.
Drückt den [linken Stick] und [L1], um einem gegnerischen Angriff auszuweichen.
Der Gegenangriff wurde implementiert, um Kombos in Kämpfen spaßiger zu machen. Mit den Aktualisierungen im Kampf-Gameplay ist für einen Gegenangriff kein Blocken mehr nötig. Stattdessen könnt ihr einen Gegenangriff auslösen, indem ihr erfolgreich ausweicht, um so mit euren Charakteren zu kontern.
Boost-Angriffe und Boost-Schläge
Jeder Charakter in Tales of Arise hat seinen eigenen Boost-Angriff, der seine individuellen Stärken perfekt widerspiegelt. Bezieht eure Verbündeten in die Kämpfe mit ein und nutzt ihre Boost-Angriffe, indem ihr die entsprechende Richtungstaste drückt.

Today you can play Tales of Arise for the first time! This is the 17th entry of the famous Tales of Series developed by Bandai Namco. You can try out the demo today on PS4 and PS5. This demo gives you a quick glimpse into the Tales of Arise’s story and gameplay. Here is a quick preview of what you can expect in the demo.
What’s new in Tales of Arise?
Tales of Arise features six playable characters: Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, Law, Kisara, and Dohalim. Each character has unique gameplay, Perks, and artes that you can master during the demo. You can start the demo with any character to learn through gameplay and skills. You can always swap between each character during combat or use a new mechanic: Boost Attacks.
Boost Attacks are unique attacks for each character. They can help defeat certain zeugles enemies that you may have difficulties with. Each character has a gauge that will need to be build up over time to use these Boost Attacks.
Alphen swings his Fire Sword to deal Break Damage
Shionne can strike down aerial enemies
Rinwell can steal arcane artes and prevent enemies from casting
Kisara can block enemies’ charges and knock them down
Dohalim can ensnare enemies which will help with faster enemies
Law’s attack can break through enemies with shields or armors
Utilize these Boost Attacks to swing the battle in your favor. If you deal enough damage and combo your attacks together, you can unleash a special Boost Strike.
Boost Strikes are cooperative attacks that only activate when enemies are low and you have been fighting well. This allows you to execute an enemy with a massive attack. For Giant Enemies or Bosses, this will deal major damage.
Giant enemies are tough to beat but will reward your party rare items and a lot of experience points. During the demo, you’ll be able to test your might against the Gigant, a giant zeugal. If you’re having difficulties, try going to Camp to cook a meal for buffs and recover your CP.
During the demo, you will notice a new meter called Cure Points (CP). To heal, your party uses the points to restore their health. Be warned that the points don’t recover over time. You will need to rest at inns, camps, or use items to restore your Cure Points. Make sure it is topped off before facing tough enemies.
For fans of the series, popular features like cooking and crafting have been expanded. You will be able to gather vegetables, fish, fruits and more throughout the map to cook different meals at the Camp. Cook certain meals that can provide different buffs for your party and improve your performance in battle. Depending on who cooks, there will be additional effects. Sometimes, it can even unlock a unique skit.
You can craft different items as well. By gathering certain ores throughout the map, you will be able to forge different accessories in the demo. The level of the ores will determine how many bonuses you will receive from the item. It’s worth searching for rare ores to obtain strong accessories. Wenn ihr Schwierigkeiten habt, geht ins Lager und kocht euch eine Mahlzeit, um Buffs zu erhalten und HP wiederherzustellen.
In der Demo seht ihr eine neue Anzeige namens Heilpunkte (HP). Die Gruppe benutzt diese Punkte, um ihre Gesundheit wiederherzustellen. Achtung: Diese Punkte werden nicht einfach im Laufe der Zeit wieder aufgefüllt. Ihr müsst euch in Tavernen und Lagern ausruhen oder Gegenstände benutzen, um eure Heilpunkte wiederherzustellen. Achtet darauf, dass ihr genug zur Verfügung habt, bevor ihr gegen starke Gegner antretet.
Für Fans der Reihe wurden beliebte Features wie Kochen und Herstellen ausgebaut! Ihr könnt Gemüse, Fische, Früchte und mehr auf der Karte einsammeln, um im Lager unterschiedliche Mahlzeiten zu kochen. Bestimmte Mahlzeiten verleihen eurer Gruppe unterschiedliche Buffs und verbessern eure Leistung im Kampf. Abhängig davon, wer kocht, gibt es unterschiedliche Effekte. Manchmal werden sogar einzigartige Dialoge freigeschaltet.
Ihr könnt auch verschiedene Gegenstände herstellen. Wenn ihr auf der Karte bestimmte Erze sammelt, könnt ihr in der Demo verschiedene Accessoires herstellen. Die Stufe der Erze bestimmt, wie viele Boni ihr durch diesen Gegenstand erhaltet. Es lohnt sich, nach seltenen Erzen zu suchen, um mächtige Accessoires zu bekommen.
