And, of course, there’s that little game called God of War Ragnarök coming too. With so many exciting new games launching in 2022, let’s check out some of the most noteworthy titles to round out the year.

    Tunic

    An itty-bitty fox in bright green garb goes on a great big adventure in one of the most talked-about indie hits of the year. Tunic is a labor of love from independent creator Andrew Shouldice, who–along with his talented team–has created a delightful isometric action-adventure game that pays homage to genre classics and forms a beautiful and unique world of its own. Find tools, treasures, and abilities, solve environmental puzzles, battle fierce monsters, and even decode a mysterious alphabet to uncover clues to aid you on your quest.

    Post Void

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

    Call of Duty certainly needs no introduction among gamers–it’s the biggest and most influential first-person shooter series. In Modern Warfare II, players will experience some of the most sweeping and exciting revisions to classic COD gameplay that the series has ever seen.     God of War Ragnarök

    The long-awaited follow-up God of War Ragnarök follows the adventures of Kratos, his teenage son Atreus, and their advisor Mimir in their journey to stop the impending apocalypse and reveal the secrets of Atreus’s destiny.     Hattet ihr schon mal einen augenschmerzenden, klopfenden Kopfschmerz, bei dem das Blut durch euren Kopf zu rauschen und pulsieren schien und euer Herz wie wild gepocht hat, aber … irgendwie war das super? Willkommen in der Welt von Post Void, einer Mischung aus klassischem Ego-Shooter und grellbunter, kontrastreicher Optik, die ein herrlich ungemütliches Ambiente erschafft. Die Neon-Szenerie und die traumhaft grotesken Gegner werden sich in eure Augäpfel einbrennen, während ihr so schnell wie möglich durch die Ego-Shooter-Levels im Retro-Stil saust. Denn wenn ihr nicht schnell genug auf den Beinen seid und alles noch schneller umlegt, dann schmilzt euer Gehirn (buchstäblich im Spiel, im übertragenen Sinne im echten Leben). Post Void ist ein wahrlich disharmonisches Erlebnis, das ihr so schnell nicht vergessen werdet. (Beachtet bitte, dass das Spiel nicht geeignet ist für Spieler, die Probleme mit blinkenden Lichtern haben.)

Anstatt dass Spieler Probleme einfach mit der Knarre lösen, bietet New Tales from the Borderlands eine verzweigte Handlung, bei der eure Dialogentscheidungen bestimmen, wohin die liebenswerten Trottel Anu, Fran und Octavia an einem extrem miesen Tag als Nächstes stolpern.     Call of Duty muss man Gamern definitiv nicht mehr vorstellen; die Reihe ist im Bereich Ego-Shooter die größte und einflussreichste überhaupt. In Modern Warfare II werden die Spieler einige der umfassendsten und spannendsten Überarbeitungen des klassischen COD-Gameplays erleben, die die Reihe je gesehen hat. Verbesserte KI, neue Bewegungsoptionen wie Schwimmen und Rutschen, bessere Fahrzeug-Interaktionen (jetzt kann man beispielsweise aus Fenstern schießen), realistischer Schaden und eine umfassende Waffenschmied-Überarbeitung, dank der Spieler ihre Waffenaufsätze anpassen und ihre perfekten Schusswaffen erstellen können.

    CODs allseits beliebter Multiplayer-Modus wird ebenfalls aufgemotzt mit brandneuen Modi: Knockout, ein Wettbewerb, bei dem zwei Teams mit je 6 Spielern gegeneinander um ein wertvolles Paket kämpfen, und Gefangenenrettung, wo ein Team versucht, in eine schwer befestigte Anlage einzudringen und Geiseln zu befreien, während das andere ihr Revier verteidigt und versucht, das gegnerische Team zur Strecke zu bringen.     Der langerwartete Nachfolger God of War Ragnarök folgt den Abenteuern von Kratos, seines halbwüchsigen Sohns Atreus und deren Berater Mimir, während diese versuchen, den drohenden Weltuntergang zu verhindern und die Geheimnisse von Atreus‘ Schicksal zu offenbaren. Auf dieser epischen Reise durch die neun Welten, darunter Vanaheim, Svartalfheim und das legendäre Asgard, werden ihnen vertraute und neue Gesichter begegnen.

    So verlockend es auch sein mag, die (atemberaubende) Landschaft zu genießen, so ist dieses Gebiet doch erfüllt von Konflikt und Zwietracht, und Kratos wird sich in packende Kämpfe stürzen müssen, für die God of War so berühmt geworden ist. Neue Fähigkeiten und Waffen, wie der Furchtlose Schild und der Steinmauerschild, sowie neue Beschwörungen für Atreus verleihen den Gefechten mehr Flair und Intensität denn je. God of War Ragnarök wird Spieler ab November fesseln, also verpasst auf keinen Fall die Götterdämmerung.

Wahrscheinlich nicht, aber jetzt seid ihr definitiv neugierig. Goat Simulator 3 (fragt nicht nach Goat Simulator 2) ist das vielleicht bisher schrägste und wildeste Sandbox-Spiel. Holmes – ein historisches Gebäude randvoll mit allerlei teuflischen Mordgeräten und Fallen. Im Hotel findet sich die Filmcrew schnell als Marionetten an den Fäden eines kranken Genies wieder, das unbedingt der berüchtigtste Mörder aller Zeiten werden möchte. Kann euer Team den „Tötungszimmern“ entkommen und einen Aufenthalt im Höllenhotel überleben?     Das Genre des Survival-Horrors kehrt in The Callisto Protocol zurück in die kalte, gewaltige Weite des Weltalls. Dieses Spiel unter Leitung von Striking Distance Studio und Glen Schofield, dem Mitschöpfer des ursprünglichen Dead Space, bringt euch in die fernen Weiten des Jupitermonds Callisto, im Jahr 2320. Protagonist Jacob Lee sitzt in der Gefängniskolonie Black Iron ein, als ein Schwarm monströser Kreaturen innerhalb der Mauern des schwer befestigten Komplexes auftaucht.

    In diesen schreckenserfüllten Korridoren geht etwas wahrlich Grauenhaftes vor sich, und Jacob muss hinter die verborgenen Geheimnisse des Gefängnisses kommen und irgendwie die begrenzten Ressourcen nutzen, an die er gelangen kann, um lebend zu entkommen. Aber auch wenn ihr eine Möglichkeit zur Flucht findet, müsst ihr noch immer mit der ständig wachsenden Armee sich rapide weiterentwickelnder Biophagen-Kreaturen fertigwerden. Ein ranghoher Soldat namens Genesis hat der Organisation den Rücken gekehrt, und Zack muss ihn aufspüren und herausfinden, was er im Schilde führt; dabei enthüllt er einige unangenehme Unternehmensgeheimnisse von Shinra.     The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition

    The stylish, Soviet-era-propaganda-inspired cult classic from developer Q-Games makes its return on PS4 and PS5. The Void is a desolate, harsh expanse blanketing the planet. It is where human souls lay trapped, the unintended result of an experiment gone horrifically wrong. But the remnants of humanity have found a way to explore the Void and rescue surviving organic lifeforms through the use of “projection clones.” Using these clones, you will explore the patches of land that have risen from the Void in search of survivors and materials. Casey’s a teenager with a budding journalistic streak setting off to report on the airborne medical center. As she explores the airship and meets the hospital’s patients, she grows more embedded in their lives, memories, and mysteries. 

    The events of this fully voiced slice-of-life adventure unfold in real-time, with the characters’ lives connecting, diverging, and intertwining as the minutes, hours, and days pass by. You can follow them, spend time with them, learn their stories, and form special bonds. Pursuing one story means you may miss another, but Wayward Strand is a game made to be played repeatedly, with you able to uncover new content based on your choices every time you begin anew. Something that, perhaps, looks like it was ripped out of the pages of that weird photocopied zine somebody left on the “free” shelf of your local comic book store. Something that wants you to move and kill as fast as possible because you will die pathetically from your life oozing from your cranium if you don’t. And for that oddly specific craving, YCJY Games’ Post Void is coming to PS4 and PS5 late this month. 

    Blaze through a bullet-laden, gore-soaked neon-colored nightmare world where the two rules are: A. move fast through winding, maze-like corridors, and B. kill everything you can.     Hello, fellow PlayStation lovers! I’m Ryan Brown, the “Head of Words” at Super Rare Originals, which is a far more interesting way of saying that I’m the marketing lead at our exciting new indie publishing label.

    Today I have the privilege of revealing our first ever title for PlayStation – Post Void, coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in spring 2022.

    We’re lucky to be working with the talented duo at Y/C/Y/J, who knocked it out of the park with their hit game Post Void, which we are now bringing to consoles. Post Void is hypnotic, challenging, and ridiculously fast. Take your favourite shooters of the past, put them in a blender, add in some paint and tons of caffeine, and voila, you’ve got Post Void.

    The rules are simple: with a pistol in one hand and an idol containing your health in the other, you have just one objective: Be fast.

    You must move constantly and keep your idol filled by racking up your kill count. If you slow down for even a minute, it’s game over – no lives, no retries. Every run is different, thanks to procedurally generated levels, so to reach the oasis at the end of each level and retrieve a well-earned random upgrade, you’re truly going to have to… well, get good.

    There are no places to hide, or to stop and catch your breath, and one slip up can end your run. Runs are short, so death doesn’t sting for long – and you will die, again, and again, and again. Just jump straight back in and hone your skills.

    Post Void is an addictive pick-up-and-play game, whether you have time for one quick run or end up pouring hours in as you get tantalisingly closer to the end.

    It’s intentionally intense, violent, and chaotic, both in its gameplay and its visual style. Creators Josef and Christopher poured their bizarre sense of style and passion into every second.

    We’ve perfected everything to make Post Void play best on PlayStation – it’s a genuine honour to be bringing a title to the platform as lifelong fans. You’ll be able to jump in when it hits PS4 and PS5 this spring.

    Hallo, liebe PlayStation-Fans! Ich bin Ryan Brown, der „Head of Words“ bei Super Rare Originals, was der interessantere Name für meine Position als Marketing Lead bei unserem spannenden neuen Indie-Publishinglabel ist.

    Ich habe heute die Ehre, unseren allerersten Titel für PlayStation zu enthüllen: Post Void! Er erscheint im Frühjahr 2022 für die PS4 und PS5.

    Wir haben das Glück, mit dem talentierten Duo von Y/C/Y/J zusammenzuarbeiten, die mit ihrem erfolgreichen Spiel Post Void, das wir jetzt für die Konsole veröffentlichen, sämtliche Erwartungen übertroffen haben.

    Post Void ist wahrhaftig ein Ego-Shooter, wie es ihn noch nie zuvor gegeben hat. Das Spiel ist hypnotisierend, anspruchsvoll und unheimlich rasant. Würdet ihr eure bisherigen Lieblings-Shooter in den Mixer kippen und dann ein wenig Farbe und jede Menge Koffein dazugeben, käme wahrscheinlich Post Void heraus.

    Die Regeln sind einfach: Mit einer Pistole in der einen und einem Götzenkopf mit eurer Gesundheit in der anderen Hand habt ihr nur ein Ziel. Schnell sein.

    Ihr müsst ständig in Bewegung bleiben und Kills erzielen, damit euch die Gesundheit im Götzenkopf nicht ausgeht. Wenn ihr auch nur für eine Minute langsamer werdet, ist das Spiel vorbei – ihr habt keine Leben und keinen erneuten Versuch. Dank der prozedural generierten Level gleicht kein Durchgang dem anderen. Um die Oase am Ende eines Levels erreichen und euch das wohlverdiente zufällige Upgrade schnappen zu können, müsst ihr also wirklich einfach … gut werden.

    Ihr könnt euch nirgendwo verstecken oder eine Verschnaufpause einlegen, und ein einziger Fehler kann schon das Game Over bedeuten. Die Durchgänge sind kurz, also schmerzt es nicht allzu sehr, wenn ihr mal sterbt – und das werdet ihr auf alle Fälle, immer und immer wieder. Macht einfach gleich weiter und arbeitet an euren Fähigkeiten.

    Post Void ist eines dieser fesselnden Spiele, bei denen man direkt loslegen kann. Man will nur mal schnell eine Runde spielen und am Ende zieht es einen doch so sehr in seinen Bann, dass man Stunden damit verbringt, dem Ziel auch nur ein klitzekleines Stückchen näherzukommen.

    Sowohl das Gameplay als auch der visuelle Stil sind gewollt intensiv, brutal und chaotisch. Josef und Christopher, die Schöpfer des Spiels, haben in jede Sekunde davon ihren bizarren Stil und ihre Leidenschaft einfließen lassen.

    Wir haben alles perfektioniert, damit Post Void auf der PlayStation optimal läuft. Als lebenslange Fans ist es uns eine große Ehre, einen Titel für diese Plattform zu veröffentlichen. Im Frühjahr 2022 könnt ihr dann auch schon loslegen!
