    Puzzle Adventure Last Labyrinth Launches on PS VR Next Week

    Last Labyrinth is an escape-adventure title releasing worldwide on PlayStation VR next Wednesday, November 13. The team behind the title includes creators whose previous works include PlayStation titles such as ICO, The Last Guardian, Shadow of the Colossus, Puppeteer, and the Doko Demo Issyo series.

    Ahead of the game’s release, we sat down with Producer/Director Hiromichi Takahashi, Lead Character Animator Atsuko Fukuyama and Director/Game Designer Tetsuya Watanabe for an exclusive interview to discuss their new project.

    Director Hiromichi Takahashi, can you give us an overview of the game as well as its themes?

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Simply put, Last Labyrinth is a VR escape-adventure game. Players are tied to a wheelchair and have to work together with a mysterious girl named Katia, in order to solve puzzles and escape from the mansion they are trapped in. It’s our attempt at creating a new type of VR experience.

    There are also various portrayals of death in the game. When players solve puzzles incorrectly, both the player and Katia meet their ends in various gruesome ways. Communication and dis-communication, life and death are woven into the game’s themes.

    So one of the themes is “dis-communication,” which sounds like a pretty interesting concept to build a game around. What made you decide to do this?

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Communicating with “other beings” has been a constant theme throughout my career as a developer. Doko Demo Issyo featured Toro, better known as the Sony Cat, and the main theme was about conversing and communicating with animated characters. It never got released overseas, unfortunately.

    For Last Labyrinth, we thought about what forms of communication could utilize the uniqueness of PS VR, and we decided that “non-verbal communication” would be a suitable theme.

    Katia speaks in an unknown language, so players cannot communicate with her through words. We made this choice so players would experience non-verbal communication, regardless of the languages they speak. More specifically, players communicate with Katia through body language; when working together on puzzles, Katia will indicate that she’s seeking the players input through her movements and reactions, and players respond by literally nodding or shaking their heads to reply yes or no. It’s a design that only works in VR.

    In the game, players have a laser pointer attached to their heads, which shines in the direction they look at. Players can use it to point at items or areas of interest for Katia to interact with. The laser can be activated, and the game played, with either two PS Move controllers or a DualShock 4 controller.

    Which brings us to Atsuko Fukuyama, the Lead Character Animator. In the past, you’ve worked on characters such as Yorda from ICO and Agro from Shadow of the Colossus, both well-known examples of partner characters who use “non-verbal communication.”

    Now that Katia is taking up that role, so to speak, are there any aspects you’re focusing on when creating her animations?

    Atsuko Fukuyama: Takahashi told me to create Katia in the image of a young girl, somewhere between 10 to 12 years old. It’s the period of time when you’re transitioning from childhood to adulthood, so I wanted to reflect that in Katia’s body language. She looks like an adult when standing still, but when running or moving her actions are closer to that of a child’s.

    The player is also constantly staring at Katia because of the way the game is designed, which means we risk making her feel like just another NPC if we used the same movements repeatedly. We added a lot of variations so that players will feel like she’s an actual, living partner.

    For the animations to feel natural, I worked together with the engineers and game designers, which was the same in my previous works. There was a lot of back-and-forth between the team to get Katia to feel lifelike.

    Having an interesting concept is one thing, but building a game that works around it is a different story, a challenge handled by the director, Tetsuya Watanabe. What are the challenges of designing for a fairly unique game like Last Labyrinth, in PS VR nonetheless?

    Tetsuya Watanabe: How to guide player vision, meaning where they look, is the first thing that comes to mind. Compared to non-VR games, you don’t have the option of forcing the camera to view a specific direction. We have to encourage players to look where we want them to, through events and design. That’s really hard.

    On the flip-side, it heightens the level of player immersion significantly, because now they’re seeing and experiencing events of their own will.

    Compared to other VR titles that allow free-roaming movement, we have to rely on movement, design and lifelike animation to immerse the player in the world of Last Labyrinth, and I think we’ve managed to achieve that.

    It’s interesting that you’d choose to do a VR title, given that it’s still a comparatively new market. Any insights as to why you chose this medium?

    Hiromichi Takahashi: We wanted players to have a never-before, completely new experience through PS VR. There still aren’t enough VR titles that make full use of the medium, and we also need more unique VR games. We figured that we should start by making one ourselves, a unique experience that only VR can deliver, which is something I feel we’ve got with Last Labyrinth.

    Finally, what do you hope players to experience on November 13? Any surprises?

    Atsuko Fukuyama: It hasn’t been shown before yet, but in the game, there’s a small bell in their left hand that players can ring to get Katia to come close, so if they ever get tired of solving puzzles, I want players to relax with her.

    Tetsuya Watanabe: I’d like them to experience the type of unrealness that only a VR title can give. Life and Death is all around you in Last Labyrinth, and I hope they’ll look forward to enjoying it first-hand.

    Hiromichi Takahashi: I hope they’ll enjoy communicating with Katia, and spending time with her. We want players to experience all of the journeys with Katia, so please try for all the endings.

    Vor der Veröffentlichung des Spiels trafen wir uns mit dem Producer/Director Hiromichi Takahashi, dem Lead Character Animator Atsuko Fukuyama und dem Director/Game Designer Tetsuya Watanabe für ein exklusives Interview, in dem wir über ihr neues Projekt sprachen.

    Hiromichi Takahashi, worum geht es in dem Spiel und welche Themen werden darin behandelt?

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Ganz einfach gesagt ist Last Labyrinth ein Escape-the-Room-Adventure für PlayStation®VR. Die Spieler sind an einen Rollstuhl gefesselt und müssen mit einem mysteriösen Mädchen namens Katia zusammenarbeiten, um Rätsel zu lösen und aus dem Anwesen zu entkommen, in dem sie gefangen sind. Wir wollten damit ein vollkommen neues VR-Erlebnis schaffen.

    Im Spiel werden die Spieler auch mit unterschiedlichen Arten des Todes konfrontiert. Wird ein Rätsel nicht korrekt gelöst, treten sowohl Katia als auch die Spieler auf sehr grausame und unterschiedliche Weise ihrem Schöpfer gegenüber. [DJ4] [MG5] [DJ6] Kommunikation und „Dis-Kommunikation”, Leben und Tod sind die Hauptthemen des Spiels.

    Eines der Themen ist also „Dis-Kommunikation”. Das klingt nach einem sehr spannenden Konzept für ein Spiel. Was hat euch dazu bewegt?

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Die Kommunikation mit „anderen Lebensformen” war in meiner gesamten Karriere als Entwickler schon immer ein zentrales Thema. In Doko Demo Issyo trat beispielsweise Toro auf, besser bekannt als die Sony-Katze. Das zentrale Thema des Spiels war die Kommunikation und Interaktion mit den tierischen Charakteren. Leider wurde das Spiel nie außerhalb Japans veröffentlicht.

    Bei Last Labyrinth haben wir uns überlegt, welche Form der Kommunikation die Einzigartigkeit der PlayStation®VR am besten nutzen könnte. Wir dachten, dass nonverbale Kommunikation hierfür am geeignetsten wäre.

    Katia spricht eine unbekannte Sprache; die Spieler können also nicht verbal mit ihr kommunizieren. Wir einigten uns auf die nonverbale Kommunikation, weil so alle Spieler das Spiel auf dieselbe Art und Weise erleben können, ganz gleich, welche Sprache sie sprechen.

    Das bedeutet, dass die Spieler mit Katia über die Körpersprache kommunizieren. Beim gemeinsamen Lösen der Rätsel zeigt Katia durch ihre Bewegungen und Gesten an, dass sie auf eine Reaktion der Spieler wartet. Diese Reaktion erfolgt durch Nicken oder Kopfschütteln, um Zustimmung oder Ablehnung zu symbolisieren. Dies ist ein Konzept, dass nur bei VR-Spielen funktioniert.

    Im Spiel werden die Spieler einen Laserpointer an ihrem Kopf befestigt haben, der in die Richtung leuchtet, in die geschaut wird. Damit können die Spieler auf Gegenstände oder interessante Bereiche deuten und Katia so auffordern, mit diesen zu interagieren. Der Laser kann bedient beziehungsweise das Spiel kann gespielt werden mittels zweier PS Move-Motion-Controller oder einem DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless-Controller.

    Womit wir bei Atsuko Fukuyama wären, dem Lead Character Animator. Bislang hast du an Charakteren wie Yorda (ICO) und Agro (Shadow of the Colossus) gearbeitet, beides bekannte Beispiele für Partner, mit denen die Spieler nonverbal kommunizieren.

    Gab es bei der Entwicklung von Katias Animationen, die ja diese Rolle gewissermaßen einnimmt, irgendwelche besonderen Aspekte, auf die du geachtet hast?

    Atsuko Fukuyama: Takahashi sagte mir, ich sollte Katia als zehn bis zwölf Jahre altes Mädchen erschaffen. Das ist das Alter, in dem Mädchen vom Kind zur jungen Erwachsenen werden, was ich auch in Katias Körpersprache zum Ausdruck bringen wollte. Wenn sie still dasteht, sieht sie aus wie eine Erwachsene; wenn sie sich jedoch bewegt, erinnert sie mehr an ein Kind.

    Da die Spieler aufgrund des Spieldesigns Katia ja auch ständig ansehen, wollten wir vermeiden, dass sie durch sich ständig wiederholende Bewegungen nur wie ein weiterer NPC anfühlt. Deshalb haben wir einige alternative Bewegungen eingebaut, sodass sie sich für die Spieler wie eine tatsächliche, lebendige Partnerin anfühlt.

    Damit die Animationen sich möglichst echt anfühlen, habe ich, wie bei meinen vorherigen Projekten auch, eng mit den Entwicklern und Designern des Spiels zusammengearbeitet. Wir haben uns innerhalb des Teams sehr häufig ausgetauscht, um Katia so lebendig wie möglich erscheinen zu lassen.

    Ein interessantes Konzept zu entwickeln, ist das Eine; ein Spiel zu erschaffen, das mit diesem Konzept funktioniert, das Andere. Dieser Herausforderung nahm sich Tetsuya Watanabe an. Was sind die Herausforderungen beim Design eines solch einzigartigen Spiels wie Last Labyrinth zum einen und zum anderen eines Spiels für PlayStation®VR?

    Tetsuya Watanabe: Wie man die Sicht der Spieler steuert, also wo sie hinsehen sollen, ist das erste Problem, mit dem man sich beschäftigen muss. Im Vergleich zu Spielen, die nicht VR-kompatibel sind, kann man den Spielern nicht vorschreiben, in welche Richtung die Kamera ausgerichtet werden soll. Wir müssen die Spieler also dazu ermutigen, dorthin zu sehen, wohin wir es möchten. Dies tun wir durch Ereignisse und das Design. Das ist sehr schwierig.

    Andererseits sind die Spieler dadurch jedoch wesentlich mehr in das Spiel eingebunden, da sie nun die Dinge sehen und erleben, die sie möchten.

    Im Vergleich zu anderen VR-Titeln, indem die Spieler sich frei bewegen können, müssen wir bei Last Labyrinth die Spieler durch die Bewegungsabläufe, das Design und die lebensnahen Animationen an das Spiel fesseln. Ich denke, das ist uns sehr gut gelungen.

    Es ist sehr interessant, dass ihr euch für einen VR-Titel entschieden habt, da das ja noch ein relativ junger Markt ist. Verratet ihr uns, wieso ihr euch für dieses Medium entschieden habt?

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Wir wollten den Spielern ein komplett neues PlayStation®VR-Erlebnis ermöglichen. Es gibt noch immer nicht genügend VR-Titel, die das Medium voll ausnutzen. Außerdem braucht die Welt auch mehr einzigartige VR-Spiele. Deswegen dachten wir, wir fangen direkt mal mit unserem eigenen an. Wir wollten ein einzigartiges Erlebnis kreieren, dass man nur mit VR so richtig genießen kann. Ich denke, mit Last Labyrinth ist uns das auch gelungen.

    Zu guter Letzt: Was hofft ihr, was die Spieler am 13. November erleben werden? Habt ihr Überraschungen in petto?

    Atsuko Fukuyama: Bislang gab es das noch nicht zu sehen, aber die Spieler werden im Spiel eine kleine Klingel in ihrer linken Hand halten, mit der sie Katia zu sich rufen können. Wenn sie also auf das Lösen der Rätsel gerade mal keine Lust haben, können sie mit Katia abhängen.

    Tetsuya Watanabe: Ich möchte, dass die Spieler diese Unwirklichkeit erleben, die es so nur bei einem VR-Titel gibt. Leben und Tod sind in Last Labyrinth allgegenwärtig, und ich hoffe, dass die Spieler dies gerne aus erster Hand erleben möchten.

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Ich hoffe, die Spieler kommunizieren gerne mit Katia und haben Freude daran, Zeit mit ihr zu verbringen. Wir möchten, dass die Spieler all ihre Abenteuer mit Katia genießen. Deshalb solltet ihr am besten versuchen, alle verschiedenen Endvarianten durchzuspielen.

Die Spieler sind an einen Rollstuhl gefesselt und müssen mit einem mysteriösen Mädchen namens Katia zusammenarbeiten, um Rätsel zu lösen und aus dem Anwesen zu entkommen, in dem sie gefangen sind. Wir wollten damit ein vollkommen neues VR-Erlebnis schaffen.

    Im Spiel werden die Spieler auch mit unterschiedlichen Arten des Todes konfrontiert. Wird ein Rätsel nicht korrekt gelöst, treten sowohl Katia als auch die Spieler auf sehr grausame und unterschiedliche Weise ihrem Schöpfer gegenüber. [DJ4] [MG5] [DJ6] Kommunikation und „Dis-Kommunikation”, Leben und Tod sind die Hauptthemen des Spiels.

    Eines der Themen ist also „Dis-Kommunikation”. Das klingt nach einem sehr spannenden Konzept für ein Spiel. Was hat euch dazu bewegt?

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Die Kommunikation mit „anderen Lebensformen” war in meiner gesamten Karriere als Entwickler schon immer ein zentrales Thema. In Doko Demo Issyo trat beispielsweise Toro auf, besser bekannt als die Sony-Katze. Das zentrale Thema des Spiels war die Kommunikation und Interaktion mit den tierischen Charakteren. Leider wurde das Spiel nie außerhalb Japans veröffentlicht.

    Bei Last Labyrinth haben wir uns überlegt, welche Form der Kommunikation die Einzigartigkeit der PlayStation®VR am besten nutzen könnte. Wir dachten, dass nonverbale Kommunikation hierfür am geeignetsten wäre.

    Katia spricht eine unbekannte Sprache; die Spieler können also nicht verbal mit ihr kommunizieren. Wir einigten uns auf die nonverbale Kommunikation, weil so alle Spieler das Spiel auf dieselbe Art und Weise erleben können, ganz gleich, welche Sprache sie sprechen.

    Das bedeutet, dass die Spieler mit Katia über die Körpersprache kommunizieren. Beim gemeinsamen Lösen der Rätsel zeigt Katia durch ihre Bewegungen und Gesten an, dass sie auf eine Reaktion der Spieler wartet. Diese Reaktion erfolgt durch Nicken oder Kopfschütteln, um Zustimmung oder Ablehnung zu symbolisieren. Dies ist ein Konzept, dass nur bei VR-Spielen funktioniert.

    Im Spiel werden die Spieler einen Laserpointer an ihrem Kopf befestigt haben, der in die Richtung leuchtet, in die geschaut wird. Damit können die Spieler auf Gegenstände oder interessante Bereiche deuten und Katia so auffordern, mit diesen zu interagieren. Der Laser kann bedient beziehungsweise das Spiel kann gespielt werden mittels zweier PS Move-Motion-Controller oder einem DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless-Controller.

    Womit wir bei Atsuko Fukuyama wären, dem Lead Character Animator. Bislang hast du an Charakteren wie Yorda (ICO) und Agro (Shadow of the Colossus) gearbeitet, beides bekannte Beispiele für Partner, mit denen die Spieler nonverbal kommunizieren.

    Gab es bei der Entwicklung von Katias Animationen, die ja diese Rolle gewissermaßen einnimmt, irgendwelche besonderen Aspekte, auf die du geachtet hast?

    Atsuko Fukuyama: Takahashi sagte mir, ich sollte Katia als zehn bis zwölf Jahre altes Mädchen erschaffen. Das ist das Alter, in dem Mädchen vom Kind zur jungen Erwachsenen werden, was ich auch in Katias Körpersprache zum Ausdruck bringen wollte. Wenn sie still dasteht, sieht sie aus wie eine Erwachsene; wenn sie sich jedoch bewegt, erinnert sie mehr an ein Kind.

    Da die Spieler aufgrund des Spieldesigns Katia ja auch ständig ansehen, wollten wir vermeiden, dass sie durch sich ständig wiederholende Bewegungen nur wie ein weiterer NPC anfühlt. Deshalb haben wir einige alternative Bewegungen eingebaut, sodass sie sich für die Spieler wie eine tatsächliche, lebendige Partnerin anfühlt.

    Damit die Animationen sich möglichst echt anfühlen, habe ich, wie bei meinen vorherigen Projekten auch, eng mit den Entwicklern und Designern des Spiels zusammengearbeitet. Wir haben uns innerhalb des Teams sehr häufig ausgetauscht, um Katia so lebendig wie möglich erscheinen zu lassen.

    Ein interessantes Konzept zu entwickeln, ist das Eine; ein Spiel zu erschaffen, das mit diesem Konzept funktioniert, das Andere. Dieser Herausforderung nahm sich Tetsuya Watanabe an. Was sind die Herausforderungen beim Design eines solch einzigartigen Spiels wie Last Labyrinth zum einen und zum anderen eines Spiels für PlayStation®VR?

    Tetsuya Watanabe: Wie man die Sicht der Spieler steuert, also wo sie hinsehen sollen, ist das erste Problem, mit dem man sich beschäftigen muss. Im Vergleich zu Spielen, die nicht VR-kompatibel sind, kann man den Spielern nicht vorschreiben, in welche Richtung die Kamera ausgerichtet werden soll. Wir müssen die Spieler also dazu ermutigen, dorthin zu sehen, wohin wir es möchten. Dies tun wir durch Ereignisse und das Design. Das ist sehr schwierig.

    Andererseits sind die Spieler dadurch jedoch wesentlich mehr in das Spiel eingebunden, da sie nun die Dinge sehen und erleben, die sie möchten.

    Im Vergleich zu anderen VR-Titeln, indem die Spieler sich frei bewegen können, müssen wir bei Last Labyrinth die Spieler durch die Bewegungsabläufe, das Design und die lebensnahen Animationen an das Spiel fesseln. Ich denke, das ist uns sehr gut gelungen.

    Es ist sehr interessant, dass ihr euch für einen VR-Titel entschieden habt, da das ja noch ein relativ junger Markt ist. Verratet ihr uns, wieso ihr euch für dieses Medium entschieden habt?

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Wir wollten den Spielern ein komplett neues PlayStation®VR-Erlebnis ermöglichen. Es gibt noch immer nicht genügend VR-Titel, die das Medium voll ausnutzen. Außerdem braucht die Welt auch mehr einzigartige VR-Spiele. Deswegen dachten wir, wir fangen direkt mal mit unserem eigenen an. Wir wollten ein einzigartiges Erlebnis kreieren, dass man nur mit VR so richtig genießen kann. Ich denke, mit Last Labyrinth ist uns das auch gelungen.

    Zu guter Letzt: Was hofft ihr, was die Spieler am 13. November erleben werden? Habt ihr Überraschungen in petto?

    Atsuko Fukuyama: Bislang gab es das noch nicht zu sehen, aber die Spieler werden im Spiel eine kleine Klingel in ihrer linken Hand halten, mit der sie Katia zu sich rufen können. Wenn sie also auf das Lösen der Rätsel gerade mal keine Lust haben, können sie mit Katia abhängen.

    Tetsuya Watanabe: Ich möchte, dass die Spieler diese Unwirklichkeit erleben, die es so nur bei einem VR-Titel gibt. Leben und Tod sind in Last Labyrinth allgegenwärtig, und ich hoffe, dass die Spieler dies gerne aus erster Hand erleben möchten.

    Hiromichi Takahashi: Ich hoffe, die Spieler kommunizieren gerne mit Katia und haben Freude daran, Zeit mit ihr zu verbringen. Wir möchten, dass die Spieler all ihre Abenteuer mit Katia genießen. Deshalb solltet ihr am besten versuchen, alle verschiedenen Endvarianten durchzuspielen.

    Is Bonfire a movie? Is it a game? It’s neither! It’s an interactive narrative in virtual reality with complex character AI that enables you to make decisions and progress the story. You’re the star of this animated short and Ali Wong is your sidekick. Oh and it also launched today on PS VR with a limited time discount.

    We’d like to share a bit more about Baobab and Bonfire with you. Plus we also have an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with Ali Wong who plays Debbie.

    We are Baobab Studios and Bonfire is our most recent project. We also created the PSVR animated interactive experiences Invasion!, Asterioids! and Crow: The Legend. Our mission is to inspire you to dream by bringing out your sense of wonder. We assembled a star studded team of game designers and animated feature film talent to create experiences like animated short films. But because we’re doing it in virtual reality, you are not just a part of the audience; you are part of the story. We create experiences in VR where you matter.

    Be the Star of an Absurd Alien Adventure with Ali Wong

    You are Scout 817 and you’ve been sent to find humanity a new home. Instead, you just crashed your spaceship on an alien planet. Your only tools for survival are a fading bonfire, nourishment cylinders and a wary robot sidekick… or so you think.

    We don’t want to spoil the story for you, but let’s just say, there is something lurking around in the alien jungle. We want you to embrace the unknown and seek the unexpected as a little trust and acceptance might help you survive, and hey, you might make a couple new furry friends.

    “We wanted to put the viewer in the middle of a story where they can develop believable, meaningful relationships with other characters so that the viewer feels that their interactions with these characters have legitimate stakes — that their decisions really matter,” said Eric Darnell, writer and director of Bonfire.

    An Animated Movie-Like Space Survival Story of Trust and Friendship

    As a not-so-elite member of The Space Force, you’ll be immersed in a seriously ridiculous situation playing the lead role in a comedic and casual narrative-based experience where your personal decisions impact the story. We modeled our comedic interactions based off of Ali Wong’s stand up performances.

    “We created a design system that emulates stand-up comedian’s chunks and bits structure. Fully integrated into the narrative, the system will respond to you based on how you choose to interact with the characters and objects around you. Ali had to record a lot of voiceover lines to ensure the system would enable her character to respond appropriately,” said Executive Producer Maureen Fan.

    Your mission is not just to survive, it’s to save all of mankind… no pressure! You’ll learn about the new planet, its inhabitants, your surly robot sidekick and maybe even a bit about yourself. In the end, you will get the choice: follow your captain or your conscience?

    Ali Wong adds, “When they asked me to voice a character for a virtual reality experience, I thought I was going to be an action hero lighting garbage cans on fire. I didn’t know it was going to be this story that could go in several directions depending on the viewer’s choices. And when I finally watched Bonfire with the goggles and everything, I was surprised by how touching and fun the whole experience was.”

    Intuitive Interactions in an Immersive World Where Your Decisions Matter

    With fluid movements and intuitive interactions, you’ll evaluate life-sustaining viability of an alien planet, identify valuable extra-terrestrial resources, neutralize hostile creatures, and maybe even tame them.

    You’ll engage in meaningful interactions with the characters and the world around you with Baobab’s award-winning real-time rendering, artificial intelligence and interactive design systems.

    Executive Producer Larry Cutler says, “The alien creature Pork Bun has an AI brain that is procedurally making decisions influencing its personality and behavior all rendered in real-time. There is emotional branching that occurs and Pork Bun will respond appropriately. Your behavior will determine how your relationship and journey will unfold.”

    Firewall Zero Hour’s Operation: Heartland & Digital Deluxe Edition Bundles Hit PS VR Tomorrow

    Hey guys! Shabs here, Game Director on Firewall Zero Hour*, the team-based multiplayer shooter exclusive to PS VR. Today, we’re excited to unveil the third season of Firewall Zero Hour – Operation: Heartland.

    Arriving October 22, our latest Operation finally brings our Contractors to the Heartland — the land of Red, White, and Blue — the United States of America! The trailer above will give you a taste of what’s in store this season. You can never be too prepared, Contractor.

    To recap last season, our Contractors were dropped into the underworld of Operation: Dark Web. Players welcomed a ton of new content added to the game, including two new maps (Newsroom and Cargo), two new Contractors** (Kane and Proxy), two new weapons (Z1 Reaper and Sten), and three new pieces of equipment (Motion Sensor, Instant Smoke, and Concussion Mine). Not too mention the vast amount of cosmetic rewards, earned by players completing weekly missions throughout the eight weeks.

    With the launch of Operation: Heartland, we keep the momentum going! All players can complete this season’s Free missions to earn Free cosmetic rewards, and with an Op Pass ($9.99 USD), players unlock additional Premium and Bonus missions weekly, for additional cosmetic Rewards.

    Here’s a full rundown of what’s coming in Operation: Heartland.

    New Maps

    Operation: Heartland will have two new maps, free for all players, with the first map — Prepper — launching tomorrow. The Prepper map takes place in a doomsday prepper’s bunker network, somewhere on the edge of Arizona, and the edge of society. Keep an eye on the TV screens and conspiracy boards existing in the Prepper bunker. You never know what you might find!

    Players will also find themselves immediately in this scene when loading up the game, as the Prepper bunker is the new Main Menu and Lobby environment this season. Later on this season, Operation: Heartland’s mid-season update coming November 26 will introduce another brand new free map to players, called Gauntlet. Gauntlet is a training ground located in the state of Virginia, and will be an instant favorite for fans of Firewall Zero Hour’s Shoothouse map.

    New Contractors

    This season brings two more Contractors into the fray! The two new Contractors and their Skills are accessible via the Operation: Heartland Op Pass. The first Contractor, available tomorrow, is Bear. An expert hunter and tracker, Bear grew up in the state of North Carolina, and later served his country as a marksman in an elite military division. His Skill of “Hunter” removes the red enemy chevron above his character. Players are sure to be fans of running as Bear, with his expert stealth “Hunter” Skill making him even harder for enemies to detect! Additionally, coming mid-season on November 26 is a second Contractor, Dom. Dom is our first Contractor from France, and his Skill of “Survivalist” will allow players to receive an additional downed state.

    New Equipment

    Operation: Heartland’s mid-season update will bring a new piece of lethal equipment to your arsenal: the Nerve Gas Mine. Free for all players, the Nerve Gas Mine unlocks at Level 17 and for 7300 Crypto. The Nerve Gas Mine is that perfect mix of both tactical and lethal abilities in one piece of equipment–making it a great choice for both Attackers and Defenders. After placement, the Nerve Gas Mine is activated by enemies who enter its radius. Once triggered, the mine emits a lethal cloud of gas, causing enemies to take damage over time, and eventually be killed if they stay inside the radius too long.

    New Weapons

    Also coming in Firewall Zero Hour – Operation: Heartland are two new weapons: the TC1 Crossbow and the Classic Reg K8, available upon completion of their corresponding Free Missions.

    The TC1 Crossbow is a modern crossbow that shoots bolts, perfect for quieter take downs. The TC1 Crossbow is available Week 1. And coming Week 5 (mid-season) is the Classic Reg K8, an iconic bull-pup design that features a fully-automatic rate of fire. It’s a powerful assault rifle for medium to long distance engagements that packs a punch. Players will use both of these weapons in a variety of new Missions throughout Operation: Heartland.

    New Legendary Weapon Skin

    The Legendary Weapon Skin of Operation: Heartland is Meiko’s ZS — available to Op Pass holders who complete all Free, Premium and Bonus Missions in Operation: Heartland (a total of 24 missions) and redeemed for 250,000 Crypto.

    New Cosmetic Rewards

    There are over 24 new cosmetic Rewards are available this season. Upon completion of Missions, a variety of different trinkets, face paints, and camo skins can be equipped by players. In addition to Free Mission Rewards, Op Pass holders have access to Premium and Bonus Mission Rewards. This season also marks the first time that different colored lasers for weapons will be available as Rewards!

    Free Blood & Truth Trinket

    We’re super psyched to have partnered with Sony London Studio on an exclusive Blood & Truth trinket, available for free in-game for all Firewall Zero Hour players starting tomorrow. Customize your weapon in Firewall Zero Hour with the Blood & Truth Poker Chip trinket, and show that you may have spent a bit of time in a certain London casino.

    Hack Keys

    One of the most popular items in Firewall Zero Hour, Hack Keys, are available as a bundle with this season’s Op Pass (Op Pass + 25 Hack Keys, $29.99 USD), as well as on their own (5 Hack Keys pack, $4.99 USD). Each Hack Key allows you to instantly complete one Operational Mission. You won’t gain XP for Missions completed this way, but you’ll be instantly awarded full Crypto, in addition to the Mission Reward (cosmetics only). Hack Keys are a great option for players who don’t have as much time to play as they would like. Also, if you have any Hack Keys left over from last season (Operation: Dark Web), you can use them on Missions this season (Operation: Heartland).

    New Bundles – Firewall Zero Hour Digital Deluxe Edition and Deluxe Pack

    We’re excited to announce that, beginning tomorrow, Firewall Zero Hour is getting an exclusive Digital Deluxe Edition and Deluxe Pack on the PS store!     Hey Leute! Ich bins, Shabs, der Game Director von Firewall Zero Hour*, dem teambasierten Multiplayer-Shooter, der exklusiv für PlayStation VR erscheint.

    Wir freuen uns euch heute die dritte Saison von Firewall Zero Hour vorstellen zu dürfen: Operation: Heartland.

    Unsere neueste Operation bringt die Söldner am 22. Oktober 2019 in das Land der unbegrenzten Möglichkeiten: Amerika! Der Trailer oben zeigt euch erste Einblicke zu den Store-Inhalten der Season. Man kann nicht zu gut ausgerüstet sein, Söldner!

    Um die letzte Season zusammenzufassen, hier ein kleiner Rückblick: Unsere Söldner sind in die Operation: Dark Web gestolpert und bekamen eine Tonne an neuen Inhalten für das Spiel. Dazu gehörten auch zwei neue Karten (Newsroom und Cargo), 2 neue Söldner** (Kane und Proxy), zwei neue Waffen (Z1 Reaper und Sten), sowie drei neue Ausrüstungsgegenstände (Motion Sensor, Instant Smoke, and Concussion Mine). Nicht zu vergessen die Masse an kosmetischen Items, die Spieler durch das Beenden von Wochenmissionen erhalten haben.

    Mit den Start der Operation: Heartland wollen wir den Augenblick fortführen und die Geschichte weitererzählen. Alle Spieler können die kostenlosen Missionen dieser Saison bestreiten und kostenlose kosmetische Preise abräumen. Mit einem Op Pass lassen sich wöchentlich zusätzliche Premium- und Bonusmissionen freischalten, die ebenfalls kosmetische Geschenke bei Abschluss bringen.

    Neue Karten

    Operation: Heartland beinhaltet zwei neue Karten dir kostenfrei allen Spielern zur Verfügung stehen, sobald die erste Karte Prepper morgen erscheint.

    Auf der Prepper-Karte werdet ihr in einen Prepper-Bunker-Zusammenschluss geschickt, irgendwo in Arizona am Rande der Zivilisation. Behaltet die TV-Bildschirme und die Verschwörungstafeln im Blick – ihr wisst nie, was man vielleicht finden kann! Ihr werdet euch in dem Bunker direkt nach dem Start wiederfinden, denn er fungiert als Hauptmenü und Lobby für diese Season. Die neue Karte, Gauntlet, wird mit einem zweiten Update in der Mitte der Saison, am 26. November 2019, erscheinen. Sie stellt ein Trainingsgebiet in Virginia dar und wird sich schnell zu einem Fanliebling entwickeln, da sie viele Aspekte der beliebten Shoothouse-Karte hat.

    Neue Söldner

    Diese Saison bringt euch gleich zwei neue Söldner. Ihr erhaltet sie durch den Operation: Heartland Op Pass. Der erste Söldner ist morgen verfügbar und hört auf den Namen Bear. Er ist ein Experte im Jagen und Fährtenlesen. Bear wuchs in Nord Carolina auf und diente seinem land als Schütze in einer Elite Militärdivision.

    Sein Skill „Hunter” löscht das rote Gegnerzeichen über sich. Fans werden es genießen, mit Bear zu schleichen. Sein „Hunter”-Skill macht ihn extra schwer für Feinde zu finden. Zusätzlich kommt mit dem nächsten Update am 26. November 2019 ein weiterer Söldner: Dom. Er ist unser erster Söldner aus Frankreich und seine Fähigkeit „Survivalist” wird es den Spielern erlauben, eine to receive an additional downed state.

    Neue Ausrüstung

    Das Zwischensaison-Update von Operation: Heartland hat tödliche Ausrüstung im Gepäck: die Nerve Gas Mine. Sie ist für alle Spieler kostenfrei verfügbar und schaltet sich ab Level 17 für circa 7300 Crypto frei. Die Mine ist die perfekte Kombination aus taktischen und tödlichen Fähigkeiten in nur einem Teil. Das macht sie zu einer guten Wahl für beide Spieltypen: Angreifer und Verteidiger. Nachdem sie gesetzt wurde, aktiviert sich die Nerve Gas Mine durch Gegner, die in ihren Radius vordringen. Ist sie ein Mal ausgelöst, verströmt aus der Mine eine tödliche Gaswolke, die den Gegnern Langzeitschaden verursacht und sie sogar tötet, wenn sie zu lange im Radius stehenbleiben.

    Neue Waffen

    Euch erwarten in Firewall Zero Hour – Operation: Heartland auch zwei neue Waffen: den TC1 Crossbow und den Classic Reg K8. Beide sind durch das Erledigen der dazugehörigen kostenlosen Missionen erhältlich.

    Die TC1 Crossbow ist eine moderne Armburst die Bolzen verschießt – perfekt für lautlose Takedowns. Sie ist in Woche 1 erhältlich. In Woche 5 erwartet euch Classic Reg K8 im ikonischen Bull-pup-Design mit vollautomatischer Feuerrate. Es ist ein starkes Sturmgewehr für mittlere bis lange Gefechte. Ihr könnt die Waffen für eine Vielzahl an verschiedenen Missionen in Operation: Heartland nutzen.

    Neuer Legendärer Waffen-Skin

    Der Legendäre Waffen-Skin von Operation: Heartland ist Meiko’s ZS – erhältlich für Op Pass-Inhaber die alle kostenlosen, Premium- und Bonusmissionen gespielt haben. Insgesamt müsst ihr dafür 24 Missionen schaffen und könnt den Skin dann für 250.000 Crypto kaufen.

    Neue kosmetische Belohnungen

    Es gibt mehr als 24 neue kosmetische Belohnungen in dieser Season. Nach Abschluss der Missionen können die Spieler verschiedene Schmuckstücke, Gesichtsfarben und Tarnskins ausrüsten. Zusätzlich zu den Belohnungen aus den kostenlosen Missionen haben Op Pass-besitzer Zugang zu Premium- und Bonus-Missionen und deren Belohnungen. Es ist jetzt auch das erste Mal, dass verschiedenfarbige Laser für Waffen durch Belohnungen erhalten werden können!

    Kostenlose Blood & Truth Schmuckstücke

    Wir freuen uns riesig, mit Sony London Studio eine Partnerschaft für ein exklusives Blood & Truth-Schmuckstück geschlossen zu haben, das ab morgen für alle Spieler von Firewall Zero Hour kostenlos im Spiel erhältlich ist. Passt eure Waffe mit dem Schmuckstück Blood & Truth Poker Chip an und zeigt auf diese Weise, dass ihr möglicherweise einige Zeit in einem bestimmten Londoner Casino verbracht habt.

    Hack Keys

    Eines der beliebtesten Elemente von Firewall Zero Hour, Hack Keys, sind als Bundle mit dem Op Pass (Op Pass + 25 Hack Keys) oder allein (Pack mit 5 Hack Keys) erhältlich. Mit jedem Hack Key könnt ihr sofort eine passende Mission abschließen. Ihr bekommt für das Abschließen auf diesem Weg keine XP, aber die volle Summe Crypto und die kosmetischen Belohnungen Hack Keys sind eine großartige Option für Spieler, die nicht so viel Zeit zum Spielen haben, wie sie es gern hätten.     Two all-time gaming legends return next week, with Infinity Ward’s ambitious reimagining of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the long-requested grave-up remake of MediEvil landing on PS4.

    Modern Warfare is headlined by a gripping new campaign that challenges players to confront the gray areas of international conflict. A suite of multiplayer modes are on tap as well — including Special Ops Survival, which is exclusive to PS4 players until October 1, 2020.

    MediEvil rises once again, at the behest of Sir Dan’s undying fan base.     Seit der diesjährigen Veröffentlichung unseres PS VR-Action-Blockbusters Blood & Truth waren wir nicht untätig und haben ihn um neue Spielmöglichkeiten ergänzt. Zu den Spielaktualisierungen zählten Neues Spiel + und Online-Ranglisten sowie ein schwerer Modus und Skeetschießen-Herausforderungen. Heute hält erneut frischer Wind Einzug, denn wir ergänzen das Spiel um fünf neue Waffengeschick-Herausforderungen . Jede von ihnen stellt bestimmte Aspekte eures Umgangs mit Waffen und eurer Technik auf die Probe.

    Für erfahrene Spieler sind sie die ideale Gelegenheit, sich erneut ins Spiel zu stürzen! Spielt das Spiel auf überraschende neue Weisen, um eure Fertigkeiten weiterzuentwickeln, und stellt euer herausragendes Können in unseren Ranglisten zur Schau. Sehen wir uns mal an, welche Herausforderungen euch erwarten.

    Schnellschuss

    In dieser Schnellschuss-Duellherausforderung tauscht ihr das moderne London gegen den Wilden Westen. Steckt euren Revolver ins Holster, nähert euch eurem Ziel und seid bereit, die Waffe zu ziehen und zu schießen, wenn es feindselig wird!
    Revolverhelden, deren Reflexe gut genug sind, um eine ganze Bande zu besiegen, werden mit Boni belohnt – und auf jeden Kopfgeldjäger, der es schafft, alle Duelle in einem Versuch abzuschließen, wartet eine Bronzetrophäe. Und vergesst nicht, dass sich im Wilden Westen nicht alle Gegner ehrenvoll verhalten. Seid also auf der Hut, denn zwischen den Duellen könnte es zu Überfällen kommen!
    Profi-Tipp: Wenn ihr mit Move-Controllern spielt, haltet eure freie Hand über den Hahn des Revolvers, um eure Feuerrate zu erhöhen!

    Blood & Truth-Spieler haben den Pistolenwirbel vielleicht bereits zu lieben und zu beherrschen gelernt. Falls ja, lautet die gute Nachricht, dass dieser beeindruckende Trick ab sofort auch einen Nutzen hat!
    In dieser Herausforderung aktiviert ihr Ziele durch das Herumwirbeln eurer Pistole. Aktiviert so viele Ziele, wie ihr wollt, bevor ihr schießt, aber passt auf die Zeit auf! Lichter zeigen eure verfügbaren Ziele sowie eure Treffer und Fehlschüsse an. Schafft ihr es, acht Ziele hintereinander auszuschalten? Vollbringt diese Tat, um euch eine funkelnde Bronzetrophäe zu sichern!
    Profi-Tipp: Wenn ihr Schwierigkeiten habt, den Pistolenwirbel auszuführen, versucht, beim Herumwirbeln der Waffe eine imaginäre Acht zu zeichnen.

    Mechanismus

    Verfeinert in dieser zeitbegrenzten Überlebensherausforderung eure Multitasking-Fähigkeiten. Bewegt mit Hebeln Zahnräder, um Ziele freizulegen, die euch zusätzliche Zeit gewähren. Wenn ihr euch gut schlagt, schaltet ihr weitere Hebel und wertvollere Ziele frei!
    Gute Augen und Zielsicherheit sind bei dieser Herausforderung von Vorteil, doch der Schlüssel zum Erfolg liegt darin, die Kontrolle über den Mechanismus selbst zu erlangen. Bewegt Zahnräder schneller, um mehr Ziele freizulegen, und verlangsamt sie dann (oder bewegt sie sogar in die Gegenrichtung), um euch das Treffen der Ziele zu erleichtern!
    Profi-Tipp: Nutzt die zusätzlichen Hebel, sobald sie aktiv werden. Das erhöht eure Möglichkeiten, Punkte zu sammeln, deutlich.

    Farbenspiel

    Ihr Blood & Truth-Veteranen dort draußen mögt euch bereits für Experten im Umgang mit zwei Waffen halten, aber seien wir doch mal ehrlich: Ihr zieht eine Hand der anderen vor, oder? Das ist in dieser Herausforderung keine Option!
    In dieser mit zwei Pistolen durchgeführten Prüfung auf Zeit müsst ihr mit den passenden Waffen auf farbcodierte Ziele schießen. Korrekte Treffer erhöhen euren Punktemultiplikator, doch falsche Treffer setzen ihn zurück. Prüft also genau, auf was ihr schießt!
    Für 20 in Folge getroffene farbcodierte Ziele winkt euch eine Bronzetrophäe!
    Profi-Tipp: In dieser Herausforderung geht es darum, einen guten Rhythmus zu finden! Aber geht nicht so sehr darin auf, dass euch ein unerwarteter Farbwechsel kalt erwischt!

    Fliegender Wechsel

    In dieser letzten Herausforderung gibt es ein Wiedersehen mit den farbcodierten Zielen, allerdings mit einem zusätzlichen taktischen Twist!
    Bewegt euch mit einem Gewehr und einer Pistole durch diese zeitbegrenzte Prüfung und wechselt eure Waffen mit Bedacht, um auf nahe und ferne Bedrohungen zu reagieren.
    Stellt eure Fertigkeiten in verschiedenen Gefechtsszenarien auf die ultimative Probe – agiert beispielsweise als Scharfschützen von hoher Warte aus oder sichert im Nahkampf Räume!

    The Drop: New PlayStation Games for October 15, 2019

    Next week’s got something for everyone — especially if you’re interested in outer space exploration, madcap party game compilations, or lo-fi mystery-solvin’.

    Outer Wilds makes the jump to PS4, offering a mysterious universe for players to explore in 22-minute loops. I’m trying to go into this one as blind as possible so forgive me if this intro isn’t as descriptive as I usually write them.

    I think it’s safe to say the Jackbox Party Pack compilations have achieved “legendary” status at this point, right? I’m rolling with it. The legendary Jackbox Party Pack series returns with its sixth set of party games, including Trivia Murder Party 2, the excellently named Dictionarium, and a whole bunch more.

    Finally, Return of the Obra Dinn puts PS4 players in the boots of an insurance investigator (stay with me) equipped with a time-altering device assigned the unenviable task of finding out just what happened to the crew of the titular ship.

    I can’t believe we did this for free. What was I thinking?! How are we supposed to make more games if we don’t tap any kind of revenue stream. This was a huge mistake.
