As spotted by Jeremy Conrad from ‚Furious Fanboys‘, gaming site Polygon was ‚lying‘ about the use of TV remotes on a PS4 on their Xbox One stream today.
They said the PS4 “does not use remotes at all”, when mentioning an advantage that theXbox One has over Sony’s console.
However, you can actually use any TV remote with the PS4, as long as your TV supports HDMI-CEC.

This morning, gaming site Polygon is doing a twelve-hour live stream showing off the Xbox One. Right before the comical demo of Dead Rising 3, where most of the voice commands didn’t seem to work and they couldn’t even snap Internet Explorer correctly, a panel of editors discussed the system that the site seems to be carrying so much water for.
During this panel, site Editor-in-Chief Chris Grant stated a couple times that one advantage the Xbox One has over the PS4 is that the Xbox One supports remote controls and the PS4 does not. He even used the example that mom would want to use the Xbox One over the PS4 because she wouldn’t want to use the Dual Shock 4 to watch a movie. Later, he used the example of Netflix on how the Xbox One is a superior choice over the PS4 for Netflix because of remote support.
You can see the first statement about remotes at the 5:30 mark in this clip. A direct quote, about the PS4, is “it does not use remotes at all”. The Netflix comment is at the end.
The problem with these statements is that they are lies.
The PlayStation 4, like the Slim PS3 before it, fully supports HDMI-CEC controls. While every TV manufacturer calls it something different, virtually every major television that is relatively recent supports it. Samsung, Sony, Sharp, Panasonic, LG, Hitachi, Toshiba, Philips, and component manufacturers like Onkyo all support this Consumer Electronics Control feature of HDMI. Due to HDMI-CEC, you can use your normal television remote control to operate the PS4.
While the Xbox One does support an IR-Blaster, most devices have moved away from that because HDMI-CEC is simply more convenient due to being able to use your normal TV remote for control.

Ab sofort ist Xbox One, die neue Konsolen-Generation aus dem Hause Microsoft, am österreichischen Markt erhältlich. Heute um acht Uhr Früh holten die ersten Fans ihre brandneue Konsole im Saturn Millennium City ab und bekamen das begehrte Stück vom österreichischen Xbox Team höchstpersönlich überreicht.
Der heutige Launchtag geht in die Geschichte der Videospiel-Industrie ein, da mit Xbox One eine neue Generation von Games und Entertainment eingeläutet wird. Vor dem Saturn im Wiener Einkaufszentrum Millennium City warteten bereits um sieben Uhr Früh die ersten Xbox Fans. Der Markt sperrte extra für diesen Anlass eine Stunde früher als üblich auf. Zahlreiche Käufer strömten in den Markt und wurden vom österreichischen Xbox Team, gemeinsam mit Michael Wagerer, Software-Abteilungsleiter von Saturn Millennium City, begrüßt.
Mehrere Spielstationen mit Launch-Titel wie FORZA MOTORSPORT 5, FIFA 14 und ZOO TYCOON sorgten zudem für beste Unterhaltung und die Fans erfreuten sich an den Goodies, die vom Xbox Team zu Feier des Tages verteilt wurden. Namco Bandai has confirmed that the awaited Soul Calibur 2 HD Online is now available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 with a price of $19.99. You should know that this version of the game comes with Spawn and Heiachi included 🙂
They have also said that a Wii U release of the game is „not impossible“ but „it depends on the demand for it.“

A new firmware update will be released today for Playstation 4 (As for now, only in the US for obvious reasons).
According to the US Playstation Blog:
Later today, the next system software update for PlayStation 4 (version 1.51) will be available. With this minor required update, stability of system software has been improved. In addition, minor refinements to elements of the system UI (such as clearly indicating when a user downloads a game and a game patch at the same time) have been introduced.
In the North American region, automatic downloads for system and game updates are enabled by default when PS4 is in stand-by mode. Once system software update 1.51 is available later tonight, your PS4 will automatically download it, enabling you to update quickly and easily.

Nintendo seems to be working on an Android tablet meant to be used primarily for educational purposes.
Nando Monterazo, a Software Engineer at Nintendo of America, shared via Twitter that the company is testing out the device, but it won’t feature traditional Nintendo games and will instead be for educational games only. However, Monterazo did mention that the games would be featuring Nintendo characters.

Main Features:
FREE MODE – This Mode let’s P1 choose CPU enemy and Stage like in Practice Mode but you battle instead of practicing. Note that CPU can not be selected as Created Fighter.
Enhanced Kreate-A-Fighter Mode – This one let’s you select any special move and paste it in any slot for your KAF.
NEW HP System – This is the bomb option. It will make health does not replenish between rounds for the winning character until it is drained. The more the rounds you win the more Handicap over the loosing enemy you will have.
Bonus Costumes Mode – This Option is designed for FREE MODE as an add-on. When two same characters battle each other (Ermac vs Ermac) for example with the same costumes P2 will have a different color. Now P1 can choose freely and use these special colors.
Shao Kahn Taunt Fix – Some stupid Mortal Kombat Wikis say Shao Kahn can perform his Taunt Move unlimited times Unlike Deception. This is not true you are limited only 3 times per match. So with this option ON you fix this and you get Unlimited Taunts per match. (Don’t overdo it CPU likes to strike you just as soon as you perform the move.
STRONGER BOSSES – This option makes bosses stronger – They can break combos easily (works for CPU and Human controlled boss characters)
BOSS STAGES OPTION – This option when ON will make bosses fight on specific stages in Arcade Mode.
For Example Blaze will always battle in the Pyramid of Argus no matter if CPU or Human controlled. Shao Kahn will battle in his Throne Room Stage etc. It will not work in FREE MODE.
ENDING ON MOST ARENAS – Now I allowed Blaze to be chosen in „FREE MODE“ as an Enemy and defeating him will show you the ending of your character. This will work on most stages but be warned if he is defeated by death trap on some stages the game will lock up.

FREE MODE:
This is the only option that sometimes does not work… (Well it’s Codebreaker to blame because it does not read the key that activates it properly).
Select KOMBAT from Main Menu.
Highlight ARCADE, Press and Hold R1 and press X while still holding R1.
Wait until Character Select Screen Appears.
To confirm that you are in Free Mode before selecting a character press R2 to select Stage. If activate the stage select screen will show up and you can select stage then CPU enemy. Once the CPU is defeated the game will revert you back to Character Select Screen.
To disable Free Mode you must go back to MAIN MENU.
ENHANCED Kreate-A-Fighter Mode:
When this is enabled go to Kreate-A-Fighter Mode and go to the screen where you assign special moves to your KAF. Open the list with moves from a slot and press L3 to select this move (Nothing will change in game, but mod engine will do it’s work) now go to the slot where you want the selected move press R3 and then press X. Volla! Your move is assigned there. You can do this on any special move slots even replace Throw Move with a Projectile Attack move for example It’s all your choice. And if ONLINE was possible today…
NEW HP SYSTEM :
This is the only MULTI-option based hack. You need not only activate the „NEW HP System Main“ but „HP P1“ and „HP P2“ as well to make this work. Just activate all of these three at once if you want the system to work properly.

In the U.S., the ultimate midnight celebration will take place in Times Square in New York City. The world of Xbox One will come to life as zombies, Roman soldiers and supercars converge on the Best Buy Theater, where awaiting fans will be among the first in America to receive their consoles and countdown to midnight with great games, entertainment and special surprises.
The pinnacle of the evening will be a performance by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in the Best Buy Theater, attended by 1,000 lucky fans who will experience the ultimate Xbox One launch. The first 1,000 people in line outside the Best Buy Theater in Times Square who purchase an Xbox One or Xbox One game will enjoy the concert in-person and the opportunity to enjoy special gameplay experiences with Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, and other Xbox One game titles.
Special guests will be present, including Stallion83, who is nearly achieving a 1 million Xbox Live Gamerscore and developer partners from some of the most hotly anticipated Xbox One games.
On the west coast, Xbox fans in Los Angeles are invited to make history at Milk Studios, which will be transformed into a gamer haven, with gameplay stations for Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, and other Xbox One game titles. In the U.S., fans can check with any of these retailers to participate in their Midnight Madness events: Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart and the Microsoft retail store. Shortly after, Australia will light up the iconic Sydney Harbour for the launch of Xbox One. Here’s a list of issues plaguing the PlayStation 4 at launch, and how to fix them.
Astro A50s: Cannot Hear Other People Speaking
Everything appears to be hunky-dory with the Astro A50s, with the sound coming through the headphones just as you would expect, except for received chat audio. You can talk through the headset, but you can’t hear others speaking.
A possible fix for this issue is to do the following:
1. Hold Home Button
2. Adjust Devices
3. Output to headphones -> All Audio
DualShock 4 R1 Button Sticking
There are several reports that units of the DualShock 4 appear to sport defective R1 buttons. After just a few hours of play, the R1 button seems to stick.
Remember to keep your receipt so you can return these to the store for an exchange.
PS4 Won’t Turn On, Bricking Issue
There been a few reports that players who received their PS4 via the Taco Bell contest doesn’t properly turn on, or off (once you manage to get it running). Here’s what the symptoms are like:
The PS4 won’t show a picture, but the blue light pulses. It tries to load data from the hard disk drive, but it doesn’t – so it doesn’t load into the operating system.
Here’s a not-so-simple fix that appears to alleviate the issue:
1. You have to unplug your HDD
2. Boot the console without HDD and it will load Safe Mode (white lightbar) and asks for a HDD
3. Turn off, plug in the HDD again and boot the console again
4. PS4 will boot into Safe Mode again and you can recover now the necessary OS Data, PS4 will start again and will boot into OS again.

A Twitch user (twitch.tv/hi11zones) recently faced a problem with his PlayStation 4. The console wouldn’t switch on and was essentially bricked. However, there are solutions for fixing this issue.
First off, check your HDMI signal. If that doesn’t work, switch off your console and remove the HDD. Boot up in Safe Mode (indicated by a white lightbar on the controller) and when prompted for an HDD, turn the console off, plug the HDD in and then turn the console on again. It will again appear in Safe Mode and will recover the OS data before starting up like normal.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to format your HDD and reinstall the relevant firmware. Keep in mind that the Twitch user above faced issues even with the prescribed steps. Make sure to get your HDD checked in that case.
A Sony representative has provided the following statement to IGN: „A handful of people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems. This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch.
There have been several problems reported, which leads us to believe there isn’t a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of systems. The number of affected systems represents less than .4% of shipped units to date, which is within our expectations for a new product introduction.“
