When the sun sets and the neon buzzes to life you can earn Rep in illicit street races, but you’d better watch your back. Neuer Besucherrekord im Rathaus! Über 78.000 auf der GAME CITY 2015!!

Über 78.000 junge und jung gebliebene Fans von Computer- und Konsolenspielen konnte das abwechslungsreiche Programm aus Information, Beratung, wissenschaftlichen Diskurs und Unterhaltung dieses Jahr begeistern.

Auch die Veranstalter und Aussteller zeigen sich erfreut über eine erfolgreiche Veranstaltung. „Die Bedeutung der Game City wächst stetig- nicht nur in ihrer Beliebtheit bei den BesucherInnen. Der neue Besucherrekord spricht für sich! Mit 83 Ausstellern und Partnern, bzw. einem Zuwachs von über 50% im Vergleich zu 2014, konnte eine noch nie dagewesene Vielfalt präsentiert werden. Wir sind stolz darauf, dass die Game City bei Gaming-Interessierten und Ausstellern gleichermaßen beliebt ist und freuen uns schon jetzt die historischen Räumlichkeiten des Rathauses im kommenden Jahr wieder in ein Highlight für alle GamerInnen zu verwandeln“, so wienXtra Geschäftsführer und Veranstalter Paul Pitzer.

Pressefrühstück und Eröffnung Game-City Spielemesse,Wiener Rathaus, Wien, 2.10.2015,Christian OXONITSCH

Drei Tage lang konnten BesucherInnen jeden Alters die neuesten PC- und Konsolen-Spiele von unter anderem Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Electronic Arts und Ubisoft antesten – viele davon gab es zum ersten Mal in Österreich zu bestaunen. Erfolgreiche Premieren auf der Game City 2015 feierten neben vielen anderen die Aussteller Wargaming Europe, Teufel, Activision mit Call of Duty und der Verein Minecraft Vienna. Zum zweiten Mal gab es auch eine Plattform für kleine Spiele-Entwickler: die Indy Game Area by FM4 erfreute sich schon wie im vergangenen Jahr großer Beliebtheit. Dank frühlingshafter Temperaturen wurde das Außengelände am Rathausplatz stark genutzt – Riesenandrang gab es am Stadt Wien MA46 Safebike Stand: Über 1.000 Jugendliche zwischen 12 und 18 Jahren haben insgesamt weit über 1.500 Test- und Probefahrten an 3 Tagen absolviert! Am begehrtesten waren der Elektroscooter und das Elektromotorrad, das von den BesucherInnen nur mit einem gültigen Führerschein gefahren werden durfte. Spektakulär waren die Tricks des BMX-Profis Senad Grosic, die man am Sonntag am Testparcour bestaunen konnte.

eSport: Sportlich ging es auch bei den eSport-Wettkämpfen zur Sache. Über 500 eSportlerInnen kämpften auf Österreichs größter Spielemesse in über 10 Disziplinen um Ruhm und Ehre. Im Spiel Hearthstone wurde um die Teilnahme an der IeSF Weltmeisterschaft in Seoul (Süd Korea) gespielt. Der österreichische Vertreter heißt Lukas „Lemongreen“ Iciren – der eSport Verband Österreich wünscht ihm viel Erfolg bei diesem internationalen Sportevent. Bei der Schulmeisterschaft 2015 konnte sich dieses Jahr Simon A. und Laurin G. vom Rainergymnasium“GRG-5“ durchsetzen.

wienXtra Kinderzone / Schule@GameCity: Über 7.000 junge BesucherInnen, ihre Eltern und Begleitpersonen fanden sich in der wienXtra-Kinderzone ein. Während der Nachwuchs kindgerechte Video- und Brettspiele ab 4 Jahre anzockte, konnten sich die Erwachsenen ausgiebig von MedienpädagogInnen der wienXtra-Spielebox und ihrer Kooperationspartner beraten lassen. Zum Start der Messe am Freitag kamen die SchülerInnen auf ihre Kosten: 40 Klassen und ca. 960 SchülerInnen probierten die neuesten Spiele aus und nahmen das auf sie zugeschnittene Vortrags- und Workshopangebot gerne an.

F.R.O.G: Das Thema „Inter/Play“ beschäftigte dieses Jahr die Fachtagung F.R.O.G.. 540 TeilnehmerInnen waren beeindruckt von spannenden Workshops, Diskussionsrunden und interessanten Vorträgen. Auf besonders positives Feedback stießen die Keynotes von US-Designexpertin Colleen Macklin (Professorin für Mediadesign an der Parsons The New School for Design und Mitbegründerin und Co-Direktorin PETLab, New York) und Scott Nicholson (Professor und Direktor, Game Design and Development Program Wilfred Laurier University, Brantford, Ontario)

Let’s Play/YouTube: Unglaublichen Zuspruch ihrer meist jungen Fans erhielten die Stars der Let’s Play-Szene. Der Andrang bei den Autogrammstunden von VeniCraft und Chaosflo44 war riesig. Stundenlang signierten die sonst nur virtuell über YouTube zu bewundernden Let’s Player alles, was ihnen die Fans vorlegten.

Cosplay Parade: Am Sonntagnachmittag enterten die Cosplayer mit ihren fantasievollen Kostümen die Bühne. Über 50 Teilnehmer, in Kostümen von Batman & Robin bis hin zu Sailormoon, machten die Cosplay Parade by Nippon Nation, die bei schönstem Wetter vom MuseumsQuartier zum Rathaus führte, zu einem vollen Erfolg.

GAME CITY 2015 – Spielen ohne Ende! 2. bis 4. Oktober 2015

Nur noch wenige Tage, dann ist es endlich soweit: Das Wiener Rathaus öffnet seine Tore für Österreichs größtes Gaming-Event. Insgesamt erwartet die BesucherInnen eine Spielefläche von über 5.000m2, aufgeteilt auf den Außenbereich am Rathausplatz, an dem sich auch der Eingang befindet, und die gesamten Räumlichkeiten des Wiener Rathauses. Neben der wienXtra-Kinderzone, in der Spiele und Beratung für Kleinkinder und Familien warten, präsentieren sich alle großen Namen der Gaming-Industrie. Zahlreiche Softwaretitel, die erst in den kommenden Monaten erscheinen, können erstmals auf der Game City angespielt werden.

Sony: Vielfältig, abwechslungsreich und innovativ – so präsentiert sich das PlayStation Line-up 2015: Die legendären Erlebnisse aus den bisherigen Uncharted Serienteilen kann man erstmals in frischem Gewand auf der PlayStation 4 in der Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Revue passieren lassen. Daneben glänzen Atoi und Iota in Tearaway Unfolded mit innovativem Controller-Einsatz und mit Until Dawn wird die nächste Evolutionsstufe im Horror-Genre präsentiert. Auch beim 3rd Party Line-up wird einiges geboten: Das vom preisgekrönten Entwicklerstudio Treyarch produzierte und im Jahre 2065 angesiedelte Call of Duty: Black Ops III definiert auf neue Art und Weise, wie Call of Duty gespielt wird. Walt Disney präsentiert Disney Infinity 3.0, Bandai Namco Games unter anderem F1 2015 und Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo und Konami Street Figther V, PES 2016 sowie Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Daneben gibt es noch viele weitere Titel von u.a. Koch Media, Nordic Games und Warner Brothers Interactive anzuspielen.

Microsoft: Xbox bietet Einblicke in das beste Lineup der Xbox Geschichte und noch viel mehr: Das mit Spannung erwartete Rise of the Tomb Raider (VÖ: 13.11., nur für Xbox) wird zum ersten Mal in Österreich spielbar sein, ebenso Homefront: Revolution von Deep Silver Dambuster Studios. Die Hartgesottenen Gamer dürfen sich auf Gears of War: Ultimate Edition im Multiplayer Modus freuen und für Sportfans sind natürlich Forza Motorsport 6, FIFA 16 von EA Sports und NBA 2K 2016 von Take Two mit dabei. Auch mit an Bord sind Quantum Break, Fallout 4 und HALO 5: Guardians. Mit Rockband von Harmonix & MTV Games können alle Musikbegeisterten ihr Talent und vor allem ihre Begeisterungsfähigkeit beweisen. Ubisoft: Auch Ubisoft zündet ein Spielefeuerwerk auf der Game-City und bietet reichlich Hands-On Möglichkeiten – noch vor dem Release! Die Highlights sind der Online-Open-World-Rollenspiel-Shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division, in dem sich die Spieler taktisch durch das postapokalyptische New York vorarbeiten müssen, sowie das Action-Adventure Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Dieser Gigant enthält 20 Spitzen-PCs von Alienware und Logitech-Peripheriegeräte, auf denen World of Tanks und das brandneue World of Warships installiert und spielbereit sind! Daneben gibt’s für alle Besucherinnen, die sich bestimmten Herausforderungen stellen legendäre Goodies zu gewinnen!

Game-City-Premiere feiert auch der Verein Minecraft Vienna (MCVienna) in Kooperation mit Wien Kanal. Auch die Abwasserprofis von Wien Kanal folgen dem VR-Trend und laden Interessierte ein, sich auf eine virtuelle Zeitreise von der Römerzeit bis heute zu begeben und mehr über die Geschichte und Entwicklung der Wiener Kanalisation zu erfahren.

Zum zweiten Mal gibt es heuer die Indie Game Area hosted by FM4: Entwickler wie Chasing Carrots, Stillalive Studios, yoonic.uk und Noizoo Games präsentieren in einer eigenen Area im Gamingroom (Festsaal) ihre neuesten Games und stehen persönlich am Stand für Fragen zur Verfügung.

Battlefield Hardline: maKING-of Kollegah Bosshaft TV

Bereits seit Freitag gibt es ein maKING-of-Video von den Sprachaufnahmen mit Kollegah in den Studios von rain productions in Köln. Das Video zeigt augenzwinkernd in Kollegah-typischer Manier, wie die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Star abgelaufen ist. Natürlich kommt Kollegah auch selbst zu Wort und berichtet davon, wieviel Spaß die Arbeit in der Tonkabine gemacht hat.

Kollegah ist einer der erfolgreichsten deutschen Künstler in sozialen Netzwerken mit mehreren Millionen Fans auf seinen Kanälen – allen voran auf Bosshaft TV sowie auf Facebook, Instagramund Twitter.

Battlefield Hardline erscheint am 19. März 2015 für PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 und Xbox One. Der Action-Blockbuster führt die Spieler auf die Straßen von Los Angeles und Miami, wo sie direkt in der Auseinandersetzung zwischen Cops und Gangstern antreten. Der Einzelspieler-Modus ist inspiriert von populären TV-Krimiserien und bietet einen neuen, erfrischenden Stil sowie eine starke Story mit zahlreichen Wendungen und Überraschungsmomenten. Die Mehrspieler-Modus folgt einfachen Regeln: entweder steht man auf der Seite des Gesetzes oder auf der Seite des Verbrechens. EA kündigt Die Sims 4 An die Arbeit an

Heute haben EA und Maxis die Entwicklung des Erweiterungspacks Die Sims 4 An die Arbeit für PC und Mac bekannt gegeben. Im ersten Erweiterungspack für Die Sims 4 übernehmen Spieler in drei neuen Berufen die aktive Kontrolle über die Karrieren ihrer Sims. Sie können mit ihren Sims auch ein Abenteuer wagen, indem sie an einem neuen Schauplatz ihren eigenen Einzelhandel eröffnen und führen.

In Die Sims 4 An die Arbeit können Spieler als Arzt Leben retten und Babys zur Welt bringen, als Wissenschaftler verrückte Kreationen erfinden und herstellen oder als Polizist Tatorte untersuchen und knifflige Fälle knacken. Wer gerne unternehmerisch tätig werden möchte, kann einen eigenen Laden bauen, gestalten und führen. Von der Bäckerei und dem Kleidergeschäft über das Fotostudio bis zur Kunstgalerie und mehr haben Spieler in Die Sims 4 An die Arbeit die Möglichkeit, ihr eigener Chef zu werden und sich den Weg zum Simoleonär zu ebnen.

Die Sims erfrischen sich ab sofort im eigenen Pool

Spieler von Die Sims 4 dürfen sich ab sofort über eine besondere Erfrischung freuen. Seit heute sind Pools für das aktuelle Basisspiel der beliebten Lebenssimulation als kostenloses Update verfügbar.

Spieler können nun ihr Anwesen mit diagonalen Pools, exotischen Infinity-Pools oder aquariumartigen Pools bereichern. Die passende Bademode für den gekonnten Sprung ins Nass ist im Update natürlich ebenso enthalten. Die Dragon Age Keep ist eine interaktive Plattform, auf der BioWare-Fans die Möglichkeit haben, die vergangene und gegenwärtige Welt der Dragon Age-Helden zu ergründen und so ihre persönliche Geschichte in Dragon Age: Inquisition zu gestalten. Das mit Spannung erwartete Rollenspiel erscheint am 20. November 2014, Spieler können ab sofort über www.dragonagekeep.com auf die Dragon Age Keep* zugreifen, nachdem sie sich mit ihrem Origin-Konto angemeldet haben.

Ein neuer Trailer, in dem die Dragon Age Keep vorgestellt wird, ist hier zu sehen:

NBA Live 14 producer addresses ‚disappointed‘ fans

NBA Live 14 executive producer Sean O’Brien wants players to know that the development team has „heard the feedback“ and has a plan to make it „a better game as quickly as we can“.

According to him, NBA Live 14 hasn’t “gotten the kind of early feedback we had hoped for,” but said that updates are coming. The game is trending at a 45 Metacritic rating on PlayStation 4 right now.

Here’s the full Open Letter from O’Brien posted at the EA Sports site:

I’m not going to lie; it’s been a rough week. As you can imagine, this isn’t exactly the NBA LIVE comeback story we were hoping for this year.

We hear loud and clear that some of you are disappointed in various aspects of NBA LIVE 14, and I’m sorry if the game doesn’t live up to your expectations. Looking at your feedback, we have laid out a plan to make NBA LIVE 14 a better game as quickly as we can.

First, you’ve told us that the game is too hard to learn, and that the only way to figure it out is through frustrating trial-and-error. As a result, we are working on improving the way the game teaches the controls and on-boards new users. We realize that every single one of you is a new user and know we need to make the game easier to understand and simpler to pick up and play.

We’re also conducting an ongoing series of Twitch Live Streams to teach the skills that will help make your game experience a better one. We have our producers and designers online seven days a week to answer your questions and to offer other helpful game advice. Additionally, we’ve posted Controller Guide, Perfecting Your Style and Levels of the Dribble blogs on the NBA LIVE website which we hope will help you with basic offense, defense, play calling and more.

We’re not going to stop there. You’ve also let us know that you’re disappointed by the graphics and animations, and I can tell you that we are committed to making drastic and immediate improvements. In order to get gameplay up and running this year we had to prioritize. We felt authentic gameplay, control and the connected experience would provide the best foundation for the future. As a result, game visuals and animation polish suffered. Improvements on these fronts are also in development now for NBA LIVE 14. You will notice in the coming weeks and months that the game’s visuals and animation will improve significantly.

A goal from the start was to stay relevant to the ongoing NBA season and evolve your gaming experience. We’ve been hearing that you love LIVE Season, and many of you are having a lot of fun with BIG Moments. We’re really glad to hear you’re enjoying the mode, and rest assured we will continue updating LIVE Season with new BIG Moments and NBA Rewind games every single day of the season. We’ve also gotten a lot of great feedback on LIVE Ultimate Team, and we’ve still got some big announcements and major additions coming down the road, so stick around for that.

10 – Horizontal Rain: After the mission begins, look near the empty white boat on the left to find it on the beach.

11 – Armored Column: At the club where your squad gets into a fight, look behind the bar counter with the red stools to find it.

12 – The Grounded Dog: After entering the hangar with the large white and blue passenger plane, climb onto the left wing using the ramp to find it pinned to the plane door.

13 – Cage Fighter: When you meet back up with Irish after rescuing him, look for the dark holding cells in the next room to the right. It is inside the last cell down the hall.

15 – Shaw-Shanked Redemption: Before going up the large ramp to take the tram down the mountain, go underneath this platform, and walk to the ledge. Look down over the middle to see it sticking out.

16 – The Destruction Enthusiast: When you reach the building in the park with the blue blankets hanging above the staircase (near the bridge), look for a blue truck ahead of another building in the park. Destroy it, then enter through the truck to find it.

17 – Upstream Swimmer: After reaching the base and defeating the enemy helicopter, climb the yellow ladder on the left to reach the top of the office building. Jump to the black scaffolding to find it.

18 – The Rebel: While fighting on the flight deck, look for a white plane on the left side of the deck. Climb onto the plane using the right wing, and walk towards the tail to find it stuck to the side with a knife.

19 – Fleet Guardian: When you reach the infirmary inside the Valkyrie, look on the right side (behind the second set of curtains) in the medbay to find it on one of the beds.

Battlefield 4 on Xbox One will use Kinect to leaning around corners and yelling commands

In case you’re still undecided about which version of Battlefield 4 buy. This could be an extra point (or not) for the Xbox One one. It seems that with Kinect you can lean around corners and covers just moving your head. In addition, the voice commands will be available to request help from a medic when shouting „Medic!“, get ammo and so on.

According to Polygon:

The Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 will make use of Kinect features such as head-tracking for leaning and peeking and voice commands.

At a recent Xbox One showcase, EA demonstrated the Kinect’s head-tracking capabilities in conjunction with Battlefield 4. When the Kinect located where the player was seated, it tracked the player’s head movements, which translated in the player’s character being able to lean and peek around corners in the game.

Despite the subtlety of the lean and peek functionality, it makes a big difference to the gaming experience because, where players previously had to strafe out into the open and put themselves in harm’s way, they can now lean and peek, which only exposes half of their character’s body. Previous titles in the series like Battlefield 3 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 did not allow characters to lean.

In addition, the Kinect integration with Battlefield 4 supports voice commands — a function that has existed in previous games in the Battlefield series. Players will be able to use voice commands to call for a medic, to request ammo, to cancel requests for ammo, to let their team know they need a ride and for thanking people who have helped them.
