Reading Time: 3 minutes

Summary

  • Full of color and joviality, Woven actually harbors a dark past, and its woolen inhabitants are in danger of their lives
  • Finding and combining the right blueprints is a major part of gameplay in Woven
  • Across multiple worlds… you’ll be free to collect over a hundred different hidden fabrics at your own pace

Once upon a time, we at Alterego Games started work on Woven. We spun ideas of stuffed animals living in a world of wool, with soft knitted hills and neatly quilted rocks, a wondrous adventure land; all comfy and cozy.

But not all is as it seems. Woven tells a tale like the bedtime stories of your childhood, that were both colorful and thrilling, yet found you hiding under the bed covers. Full of color and joviality, Woven actually harbors a dark past, and its woolen inhabitants are in danger of their lives.

In Woven, you’ll assume the role of Stuffy, a kind but rather clumsy elephant creature, all alone. You’ll quickly encounter and awaken Glitch, a mysterious metal firefly that has lost all his memories and is hopelessly lost.

Woven

Half the obstacles Stuffy faces completely baffle him and heavy elephant feet, or clumsy arms, get him nowhere near a solution. We’re not saying Glitch is the smart one, but together, your two unlikely heroes will find the blueprints of different animal shapes, scan them and reknit Stuffy into different shapes so they can overcome the obstacles. Elephant legs may be strong, but rabbit legs would allow you to jump.

You have heard of the tales that shaped the hero, but have you heard of the hero that changed shape to begin his tale?

Your Stuffy, your way. Finding and combining the right blueprints is a major part of gameplay in Woven. Every stuffed animal you encounter has its own skillset with a full set of unique body parts. You’ll need to pay extra special attention when mixing and matching body parts, as many of the puzzles in Woven can be solved in different ways. Will you hitch a ride on the turtle’s back, or fly over that lake up ahead? The choice is yours.

Across multiple worlds, each with their own unique ambiance, soundtrack and story, you’ll be free to collect over a hundred different hidden fabrics at your own pace. And for the real fashionistas among you, you can customize the color too. But don’t just go for what looks the most adorable, there are some obstacles that will require specific outfits to navigate them. Stuffy is hopelessly naive; you’ll have to dress Stuffy smartly. Sneaking past metal spiders is going to require something a little more subtle than a bright yellow fabric with neon green spots, no matter how happy Stuffy looks wearing such garb!

While waiting for Stuffy to stop being distracted by flowers and butterflies, you’ll be walking through a deeply colorful, beautiful world. Filled with both adorable cute creatures, and epic woolen guardians of the land, telling the tale of Stuffy’s kind. Did they leave Stuffy behind? Why are all these metal machines here invading the land? Glitch’s lost memories are the key to the heart of the matter, and it is up to you to embark on an epic journey to find out why. Are you ready to unravel the mystery of Woven‘s world?

Why not tag us on Twitter @WovenTheGame with your favorite Stuffy creation. We love hearing from our players, and cannot wait for you to experience Woven on Xbox One.
