Kick off the Monaco Grand Prix weekend with these Formula 1-inspired Arduino projects

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

The Monaco Grand Prix is just days away and will likely be one of the most exciting races of the season. While most fans can’t participate directly — except as spectators — they can celebrate their passion through DIY projects. That’s why we’ve scoured the community to find the best of those builds for every skill level. Check out the list below!

    Formula 1 start lights

Formula 1 races get underway with a light sequence that is unique in motorsports. That sequence starts with the lights illuminating one after another, telling the drivers to prepare. Then, after a random delay, the lights turn off and drivers can launch. This tests driver reaction, rather than memorized timing.

Project Hub user BirdGuy’s project replicates those start lights using just an Arduino UNO Rev3, some LEDs and resistors, a momentary push button, and a breadboard. It is perfect for beginners, thanks to the simple wiring and sketch.

    Logitech Driving Force Shifter adapter

Logitech’s G Driving Force Shifter is a popular six-speed racing simulator peripheral. Modern Formula 1 cars use electronic sequential shifters, but this accessory would be perfect for vintage F1 cars in racing sims.

However, there is a problem: this shifter only works with a Logitech wheel. Dave Madison’s Arduino Leonardo-based adapter lets digital racers connect the shifter directly to a PC. It breaks out the DB9 connector and reads the inputs, then provides USB output. No soldering or breadboard necessary!

    Race lights reaction timer

The previous start lights project is a great demonstration, but Stephan Holding’s reaction timer puts user skill to the test. The concept is very similar, but with a second button that represents an accelerator pedal and an OLED screen that shows the user’s reaction time.

This project is a bit more complex, with that OLED screen, WS2812B individually addressable RGB LEDs, a piezo buzzer, and a laser-cut MDF enclosure. But it is still suitable for beginners who want to train their reaction time.

    Racing gates

Formula 1 is a wildly expensive sport, but dedicated enthusiasts can participate in amateur racing leagues to get their wheel-to-wheel fix. Those enthusiasts will want some way to measure lap times or speeds during practice and Project Hub user nfarrier’s DIY race photogate can help.

This was designed for small-scale model cars, but the same hardware will work for full-size cars. Each PVC pipe gate has a homemade break-beam sensor and an Arduino UNO Rev3 monitors those. Enabling multiple lanes is as simple as adding more break-beam sensors. The Arduino times the interval between gate sensor triggers and sends the results to a basic Android app through an HC-05 Bluetooth for logging.

    Sequential gear shift

Sequential transmissions, which weigh less and shift faster, took over F1 about 30 years ago. Most have “flappy paddle” electronic shifters integrated into the steering wheel, but many people prefer the feeling of reaching over to a shifter lever. Those people should enjoy Carlos Almeida’s sequential gear shift controller for sim racing.

This project required 3D CAD modeling skills and a well-tuned 3D printer, so it is a step up in difficulty. It utilizes an Arduino MKR1000 WiFi board, because that is what Almeida had on hand. But it should work with several other models. There is even a seven-segment display that indicates the current gear.

    V12 engine clock

Current Formula 1 regulations mandate the use of 1.6L V6 hybrid engines, but the V12 era was the most quintessential F1 experience for many fans. And the number of pistons on a V12 engine just happens to match the number of hours on a clock. That gave Will Reeve the inspiration to construct this V12 engine clock.

Reeve styled this 3D-printed clock after a simplified V12 engine. As each hour passes, internal servomotors lift pistons to indicate the time. A seven-segment display on the front of the engine block shows the minutes. An Arduino Mega 2560 controls that process and LEDs provide accent lighting.

Predicting the F1 champion with tinyML

Cutting-edge machine learning models are capable of amazing feats and often reach conclusions that we humans cannot. Leonardo Gonçalves theorized that a machine learning model could predict the winner of a Formula 1 race and this project tests that idea.

Gonçalves didn’t have access to actual F1 cars, so this project is only a demonstration of the concept using unpowered scale models. The idea is that a machine learning model trained on data from F1 cars can predict the winner of an ongoing race based on the new real-time data.

Here, that data comes from an Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense attached to the model car, which has all kinds of onboard sensors for collecting data, including an IMU (inertial measurement unit). That data went to a Neuton tinyML model for training and new data goes to the trained model for predictions. The results are fun to see, even if the test was dramatically simplified compared to a real race.

    Force feedback accelerator pedal

The racing sim hardware we’ve already discussed only approximates the experience of driving a real car. But this active racing simulator pedal is much more robust and provides force feedback resistance. While drive-by-wire throttle systems are making it a thing of the past, mechanical throttle linkages impart noticeable feedback through the pedal. This DIY pedal replicates very high-end Simucube hardware, providing that feedback at a fraction of the cost.

The two killer features are a load cell to measure pressure on the pedal and a large servo with a leadscrew to generate feedback. An Arduino controls the servo and reads the signal from the load cell’s amplifier. With the help of software running on a connected PC, this closed-loop system can accurately replicate the feel of an accelerator pedal in the real world.

    PorscheKart steering wheel

Wesley Kagan is on an incredible quest to build his own F1 car, complete with a Mercedes V12 engine. There is a massive amount of custom work that Kagan has put into this project, but one of the highlights is the steering wheel. It looks and operates a lot like what you would see on an F1 car today, but is 100% bespoke.

This requires three Arduino development boards. The first, an Arduino Mega 2560, collects data from the car’s sensors. The other two, Arduino Micro boards, read the steering wheel buttons and switches, and display content on the 3.5” LCD screen. That shows information like the current gear and speed, just like today’s F1 drivers see on their steering wheels.

If you have an F1-themed project or get inspired to create one after watching the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, be sure to upload it to the Project Hub!

How The Riders Market Addition is Turning MotoGP 24 Into the Most Authentic Entry Yet

    Reading Time: < 1 minute

Moreover, players’ behavior on and off the track will greatly influence Riders’ Market dynamics. As I mentioned earlier, last year we introduced a rivalry system as well as a fictional social network where riders, teams, and manufacturers interact with each other. The evolution of rivalries as well as likes and replies on the fictional social network will fuel rumors about possible future transfers, which players will be able to keep an eye on through a dedicated menu of the career mode.

The Riders Market is the last major piece we needed to fully shape the game and the series itself, and I can’t wait to see our fans getting the most out of it. Will there be a day when we see the young, predestined Pedro Acosta challenging the eight-time World Champion Marc Marquez in the same team? Or maybe we are about to witness Fabio Quartararo’s new legacy away from Yamaha? History is still to be written.

MotoGP 24 will be available on May 2, 2024, on PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

  • Welcome to “Green Hell”: Adding the Legendary Nordschleife to Forza Motorsport

Welcome to “Green Hell”: Adding the Legendary Nordschleife to Forza Motorsport

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

“The Nürburgring was built in 1927 with extraordinary length through the middle of the Eifel forests. It remains the longest permanent race track to this day. Even back then, the racing drivers who came to the Nürburgring knew what an incredibly special and challenging track the Nürburgring actually is,” explains Alexander, quoting Rudolf Caracciola, who won the first car race on the Nürburgring and described his experience as follows:

“When we came to the newly opened Nürburgring in 1927, we opened our eyes. We had never experienced anything like it. There was a road in the middle of the Eifel mountains, a closed loop with almost 180 bends spread over 22 kilometers. It was a track with gradients that were a sharp blow to the engine, but also with unspeakably beautiful views far across the country, of valleys and villages.”

On the one hand, it is the almost 100-year history that still inspires awe and respect among motorsport enthusiasts and professional racing drivers alike: 1000-kilometer races, fatal accidents, unforgettable Formula 1 races, new records and impressive performances by the best drivers in the world. Record-breaking world champion Michael Schuhmacher made such a lasting impression that an entire corner was named after him. When Niki Lauda’s Ferrari went up in flames on the Nordschleife in 1976, the entire motorsport world held its breath.

In addition to the history, it is the track itself that accounts for the legend of the Nordschleife: the unique layout, the dynamics, the differences in altitude and the unique atmosphere. If you want to complete a lap, you have to tackle over 70 corners and 300 meters of elevation gain. An experience that demands everything from the driver and is now possible in Forza Motorsport.

In Forza Motorsport, players will discover what makes this circuit an adrenaline-filled crucible, one which pushes professionals, manufacturers, cars – and now, finally, Forza fans – to their limits. YouTuber and racing expert rAii has already put the track through its paces in countless racing games, including the new Forza Motorsport, and shared his thoughts on the presentation with Xbox Wire DACH: “It just feels like the Nordschleife that you know. That’s the most important thing.”

  • Turbo Golf Racing: From 1 Million Game Preview Players to Release

Turbo Golf Racing: From 1 Million Game Preview Players to Release

    Reading Time: 5 minutes

After attracting over 1 million players during Game Preview, Hugecalf Studios are proud to announce Turbo Golf Racing will be launching into 1.0 on April 4! Before then, you can download Turbo Golf Racing’s Game Preview on Xbox Game Pass for Xbox Series S|X and Xbox One, or PC Game Pass for Windows Store.

If Turbo Golf Racing is new to you, let me explain: picture yourself playing golf, but instead of the conventional club, you’re using a turbo-charged car to putt the ball. Throw in 7 other players vying to achieve the quickest time (in race mode) or the fewest shots (in golf mode) – not to mention a variety of Power Cores that change your car’s abilities – and you have a recipe for a very different game of golf.

Since launching into Game Preview, we’ve added new Power Cores to the beloved race mode, including Sticky, a core that allows you to attach your ball to your car, and Grapple Hook, a core that tows your car towards your ball, totaling 18 unique Power Cores to date. This has resulted in over 130 possible unique core combinations, including my personal favorite, Magnet and Hyper Glider, which increases my speed while gliding and enables me to pull the ball towards my car with the press of a button.

    Turbo Golf Racing Screenshot

Frost Beam, Air Strike and Boost Canister have also been added since Game Preview launch. The 3 new pick-ups in race mode have allowed for more ways to sabotage or take the lead on opponents.

Three seasons of content have flown by, including the Aztec and Space seasons, which featured themed cosmetics, fresh biomes, and innovative mechanics. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed utilizing water features to propel my ball closer to the hole, and there’s something truly thrilling about a shot that is rescued from going out of bounds by a shift in gravity on the course.

For those players seeking a more traditional golf experience, 1v1 golf mode was introduced. This new mode allowed players to unwind and focus on accuracy over speed, because victory is awarded to the player who putted in the fewest shots. Though this mode was previously limited to 2 players – more on that later…

    Turbo Golf Racing Screenshot

Being part of Game Preview meant that many community-requested features were added, including missions, timed events, leaderboards, ranked mode, bots, custom games, tutorial improvements, core balances and many more. All in all, Turbo Golf Racing now features 5 Game Modes, 18 Power Cores, 5 Pick-Ups, 75 Levels, 5 Biomes and over 400 cosmetics. So what can players expect for 1.0?

April 4 will mark the start of Season 4, a Launch Party themed season with 40 new rewards! Pump up the jam or act a clown with the new Bassline and Jester car bodies. Other goodies include party shades, musical boosters, pork pie wheels, and my go-to party hat wheels.

Turbo Golf Racing Season 4 Image

I mentioned earlier golf mode was limited to 2 players, well not anymore! With the launch of 1.0, Turbo Golf Racing will include a new 8-player golf mode. Players will be able to enjoy their favorite mode with more of their friends. Instead of the consecutive turn-taking that occurs in 1v1 golf, players will take their shots simultaneously, competing to sink their ball in the fewest shots.

What’s more, 10 new levels will be added to the roster, and Urban, Wild and Industrial biomes have been revamped with thrilling new themes! Players will also notice new night levels, garage loadouts, a new core, shop items and so much more.

I’m excited to see you all on the starting line, mark April 4 in your calendar, let’s get this party started! Turbo Golf Racing is available in Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, and with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.

Before you take your seat on the pit wall, we’ve put together a dossier of essential reading for Team Principals to give you the edge over your rivals.

    Designing the Ultimate Upgrade

Whilst a star-studded driver line-up might get you moving up the grid order, crucial to your success across the season is the development of new car parts. When designing these, there are a few considerations you’ll want to account for – including managing your Aerodynamic Testing Restriction (ATR) budget. In Formula 1, teams are allocated a limited number of hours they can spend testing their aerodynamic parts in the Wind Tunnel or with Computational Fluid Dynamics, with those towards the back of the field being allocated more to help them close the gap.

ATR allocation will reset at set times throughout the season, and any unused time when this happens will be lost, so top Principals will utilize of all these hours before their allocation resets. Making the most of this testing will allow you to improve your car’s pace against your competitors and increase the Expertise of your team, allowing you to create even better parts in future.

    F1 Manager 23

    Building Your Dream Team

Crucial to success in F1 is an ability to always look ahead and plan for the next challenge. In F1 Manager 2023, you’ll invest your budgets into developing your car, your facilities, and your people. Staffing your team with the best upcoming talent can often give you an edge when you might have a disadvantage on the balance sheet.

When recruiting, consider the impact of changing out a driver or staff member during their contract. There will often be a costly fee for cutting short their time with the team, and instead you might look to offer your new recruit a position starting in the following season. Each driver and key staff member can develop their skills based on your preference, so identifying areas of weakness and considering whether to take the time to train, or whether to opt for an immediate change, will likely be influenced by your own board objectives.

    F1 Manager 23

    Practice Makes Perfect

Although you’re able to simulate each of the three practice sessions during an F1 race weekend, you can gain an edge on your rivals by managing these yourself and responding to each of your drivers’ feedback. When each car is on track, drivers will build up their track familiarity (how well they know how their car handles on the circuit this year) as well as gathering feedback on the individual set-up of the car. Once a driver’s accrued five pieces of feedback covering each major area of the car (indicated by a number out of 5 next to a speech bubble in the driver control panel), it’s best to bring them back into the pitlane to see how you need to adjust.

It might be tempting to put on a fresh set of soft tires in every stint to finish top of the table in practice, remember that you won’t get any points for that! Tire usage is rolled over to each session, with an allocation being returned to Pirelli after every session on track. You’ll need to use a minimum of two compounds during a dry race, so remember that sometimes it can be beneficial to save a set of tires to give yourself the edge when it really counts.

    F1 Manager 23

Tire-ing Work and Crucial Race Strategy

Race strategy is king on track, and even an underperforming car can deliver exceptional results in the right circumstances. Before the race begins, make sure to take a moment to assign a strategy for each driver. Keep an eye on the ‘estimated race time’ to weigh up your options, as well as the weather forecast for any downpours which might create an opportunity.

During the race, it can be easy to give your drivers’ the freedom to push as hard as they possibly can, but a good Team Principal knows when to push and when to hold some pace in reserve. When you ask your drivers to increase their pace, you’ll be increasing their tire wear and their usage of fuel and stored ERS (Energy Recovery System) charge.

As tire life decreases, so too will your drivers’ ability to consistently improve their lap-times. Remember to consider the tire temperatures, which will fluctuate throughout the race depending on how hard your driver is pushing, as well as the track conditions. When the tire drops below 30% of its’ remaining life, expect to see a significant drop in your pace and an increased risk of a costly puncture.

If all this racing wheel talk has your engines revving, then you’re in the right place. Designed for Xbox and our partners know that selecting the right racing setup could mean the difference between being the first across the finish line or eating dust. Racing wheels offer added control and precision so you can hit that apex point on every turn. Pedals and shifters bring realistic handling when you need to downshift into your perfect hairpin turn (Shout out to the Heel-Toe shifters!). Add them all together and you’ll be rolling on/off the throttle like a pro in no time. We’ve worked with our partners at Logitech, Thrustmaster, and Fanatec to cherry pick some of our favorite wheels that will have you racing on Day 1.

For a comprehensive list of the race wheels tuned by Turn 10 Studios for the release of Forza Motorsport, visit the Forza Blog.

    Logitech

    Logitech Asset

For a race-ready setup kitted with realistic Force Feedback, leather-stitched wheel, 10-light RPM LEDs, and pressure sensitive pedals – the Logitech G923 is a great choice for new and experienced racers alike.

If you’re looking for the best Logitech has to offer – Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel delivers 11Nm of force feedback in a low-latency direct drive motor for ultimate realism. Logitech Pro Racing pedals sold separately.

    Thrustmaster

    Thrustmaster Asset

If you’re looking for your first racing wheel, awaken your driving instincts with the plug-and-play T128X Force Feedback racing wheel from Thrustmaster. The T128X features precise magnetic technology in this wheel-and-pedal bundle, along with a 4-color LED that indicates the optimal time to shift gears.

If you are ready to shift your wheel setup into the next gear, the Thrustmaster T248X is designed for all gamers looking for performance and immersion. The T248X delivers a 40% more powerful drive system (compared to the T128X), multiple Force Feedback presets, a customizable interactive screen, and a magnetic pedal set with 4 different pressure modes.

Both the Thrustmaster T128X and T248X utilize a clamp-based attachment system allowing either setup to fit on your desk or table quickly and easily, so you’ll be racing in no time.

    Fanatec

    FANATEC Asset

Fanatec offers a wide range of racing setups with their modular system. Start your own racing setup with the ClubSport Universal Hub v2 for Xbox as your framework. Then, add any of the wide range of wheel rims or a steering wheel and complete your build with any combination of Fanatec wheel bases and pedals.

Preconfigured combinations are also available. The CSL DD Ready2Race McLaren Elite Bundle includes the CSL DD 5Nm Direct Drive Wheel Base, a set of CSL Pedals, and a detailed reproduction McLaren GT3 V2 Steering wheel – like those found in McLaren GT3 race cars. Wheel profiles and Force Feedback will be available at game launch. Bespoke buttons and digital displays will be activated in an upcoming Fanatec wheel firmware update.

Forza Motorsport: The Ultimate Racing Game for Car Lovers – Out Now and Included with Game Pass

    Reading Time: 12 minutes

    Summary

    • Choose from over 500 real-world cars including more than 100 cars new to Forza Motorsport across 20 tracks with fan-favorite locations and multiple track layouts.
    • Race alongside your friends or compete against cutting-edge AI opponents with customizable racing events – from single races to an ongoing career mode.
    • Forza Motorsport is out now for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, plus it is included with Game Pass.

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to visit one of the largest private automobile collections in the world, and as you might expect, the biggest names in the industry were on display – everything from Ferrari and Lamborghini to Jaguar and Bugatti. It even included some of the earliest and rarest American muscle cars like the Yenko Camaro and Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda convertible. The experience was a bit overwhelming, standing there amidst such pristine and treasured cars, knowing most of them were built with a similar purpose – to go fast, but ultimately sharing the same fate – they never would.

    Forza Motorsport

As a car enthusiast, that is what makes Forza Motorsport so special to me. I know realistically speaking I will never sit behind the wheel of a Bugatti Chiron or Jaguar XJ220, much less drive one. On a racetrack. At 200+ miles per hour. In the rain. But with Forza Motorsport, I can! I love fast cars as much as I do fun games, so today is one that I have been looking forward to all year as Forza Motorsport, my most anticipated game of 2023, races onto Game Pass for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.

    Cars, Cars, and More Cars

I don’t know what is more impressive, the fact Forza Motorsport shipped with 500 cars, that 100 of them are new to the series, or that Turn 10 Studios will continue to regularly add more. Nearly 100 years of automotive history is represented in this extraordinary collection, with the oldest car in Forza Motorsport being the 1926 Bugatti Type 35 and the newest being the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, which is one of this year’s cover cars.

With the Free Play mode, you can rent any car and take it for a drive (free of charge, but you will not earn Car XP). So, if you want to test drive a 1981 Ford Fiesta XR2, you can. Or you can get behind the wheel of the most expensive car (currently) in the game, the 2020 Koenigsegg Jesko. To start out, I chose something I have a little bit of real-world experience with, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, before switching over to the 2021 Rimac Nevera, the electric hypercar often billeted as the fastest car in the world. It is indeed fast, and with no gas-powered engine noise, it is also a little eerie, as you race down the track at 200 mph and the only thing you hear is your heart beating in your chest (that might be a slight exaggeration). If you love cars as much as I do, you will have no problem finding a car you love in Forza Motorsport. I can’t guarantee you will have an easy time settling on which one to purchase first.

    Forza Motorsport

    Let’s Go Racing

You can’t have a great racing game without having great places to go racing, and Forza Motorsport features some of the most iconic locations in all of motorsports, with more tracks on the way. The iconic Grand Prix Nürburgring circuit is included, as is the ever-popular Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. One of my personal favorites is Lime Rock Park. I just like the layout and how you can let out of the throttle and roll through most of the turns without having to get on the brakes too hard (and it doesn’t have any of those deceptive turns that sneak up on you).

The tracks all feel so real, you will want to grab a hotdog from the concession stand and a t-shirt from one of the merch trailers before heading to the pits. Adding to the realism is the dynamic time-of-day with weather and unique driving conditions feature. Obviously, I knew the game was going to include this, but what I did not expect was the range of possibilities. There are ten Time of Day options ranging from sunrise to midnight, and even more weather options. Would you like your rain to be a drizzle, all out thunderstorm, or something in between, because that is the level of detail you can choose from. These variables will impact how the tracks look and feel, and ultimately how you and the other racers will perform. During several rainy training sessions, I would pull over and just listen to the pitter patter of rain drops on the windshield as I contemplated the meaning of life (okay, really I was just looking for the windshield wiper button).

    Forza Motorsport

Race How You Want With Who You Want

Turn 10 Studios has always placed accessibility at the forefront of Forza Motorsport’s design and is already receiving high praise for it being one of the most accessible games ever made. But the team also deserves recognition for how approachable they have made Forza Motorsport for players of all skill levels by creating a competitive racing platform that caters to rookie racecar drivers all the way up to those wanting the most realistic, immersive racing experience possible. By fine tuning the difficulty and driving assist settings to your skill level, you can create a racing experience that is both challenging and rewarding. And with the new Risk vs Reward feature, you can even select your starting grid position, which will show your projected finish and podium bonus. I was starting out in the 10th position on most races but found I was catching the leader within a few laps, so each race I try to go a spot or two deeper in the field to earn even more Car XP.

As you race, you will earn Car XP, and you can use this to upgrade and tune your car by selecting from more than 800 performance upgrades – including fuel and air systems, engine, platform and handling, tires and wheels, and drivetrain. Using Car XP instead of purchasing the parts allows you to try different setups without further expense. And if you would rather race than tinker, you can opt for the Quick Upgrade and let the game handle tuning your car with a balanced setup.

    Forza Motorsport

If you want to race alone, in a single-player free play or career mode, those options are available. Or you can join any number of online multiplayer games, including your own private matches, and race against others. For those seeking a combination of the two, you will want to check out the Rivals mode, which allows you to compete against ghost cars to post the fastest lap times on tracked leaderboards. You will see how you stack up against the fastest racers without having to race against them. I really enjoyed the Rivals mode because it’s not only a fun and competitive experience, but it is also a great learning aid to see the cars and settings the faster drivers are using and what line they are taking through the turns.

    Forza Motorsport

    Let’s Have a Clean Race

Surely, I am not the only one who has (accidentally) taken a shortcut off track, used the retaining wall to slingshot through turns, and pinballed off other cars on my race to the front of the field. Forza Motorsport implements new features and even incentivizes skillful driving to assist you in becoming the best racecar driver you can be…and it is working because I find myself looking at this feedback each lap to improve the next.

Each track is divided into Track Segments and your performance through each of these scoring loops is evaluated and displayed on screen providing you with immediate feedback. Plus, you are rewarded with Car XP based on your performance, so there is an extra incentive to do well. You will also receive Car XP for regular on-track activities like passing cars and improving on previous Track Segment times. Additionally, you can be penalized with time penalties for illegal passes and running off the track for an extended period.

    Forza Motorsport

Don’t worry, you will still have “pass in the grass” moments like Dale Earnhardt did at Charlotte Motor Speedway All-Star Race back in 1987 and you can still lean on cars and trade a little paint as you navigate those tight turns, but I applaud Turn 10 for implementing creative ways to inspire clean, competitive racing.

Turn 10 Studios has crafted an innovative racing simulation with iconic cars, incredible photorealistic visuals, realistic physics, and lifelike AI racers, but even more than that, they have created a live, connected, immersive, accessible, and ever-changing competitive racing platform that will evolve and grow with the Forza community.

Play Forza Motorsport today with Game Pass on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC and be sure to follow @ForzaMotorsport and check out the official website.

At first glance, this appears to be giant racing helmet perhaps used as a commemorative sculpture somewhere, but it’s actually a high-tech racing simulator. Called the TL3, it uses a system of three perfectly-calibrated projectors to display a 5760 x 1080 image more than 7 feet across over 5 displays, giving you a stunning real view, while the variable position cockpit assures you’re at the correct viewpoint. That’s right driving a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Lamborghini Avendator SV, a tank, or even an F1 car, will each provide a unique experience.

„The TL3 Simulator places users in a 200 degree spherical projector that wraps around them so that they’re in the center of the action. It was designed specifically for extremely beastly PCs that can support its demanding software. The TL3 uses real hydraulic systems and a Force Feedback steering wheel for an ultra-realistic experience. As if the TL3 wasn’t impressive enough, it also comes in 5 different colors,“ reports Hi Consumption.

Airless tires may not be new, but Polaris has unveiled the first ATV to be equipped with a set of them. It’s called the Sportsman WV850 H.O. all-terrain vehicle, based on the U.S. army’s MV850 ATV, and boasts a reinforced steel exoskeleton capable of towing 1500-pounds.

According to Gizmodo: „…the ATV’s TerrainArmor tires which Polaris claims can survive a hit from a .50-caliber round and still function just fine for 350 miles. They look similar to airless tires being developed by Bridgestone and Michelin, but there’s no indication they belong to either company, so Polaris might have developed its own. Top Gear has shared a teaser trailer showing the digital version of its mysterious driver on the TV series, The Stig. He will be included in the game marking lap times that you have to beat.

Yes, Internet, making his debut in Forza Motorsport 5 is the virtual version of our tame racing driver — though this one’s slightly different. He — or it — is allegedly beatable. But only if you’re really good. That means you lucky folks who plan on snapping up the shiny new Xbox One and Forza 5 next month will be among the planet’s first to take him on.

As you know, Forza 5 will feature the Top Gear test track, rendered in meticulous detail, including the follow-through and Gambon sections. Though the ramshackle shed where we store all of our crisps might not have made the cut.

Still, you’ll have in-game commentary from Jeremy, Richard and James on the career modes, and races inspired by Top Gear events, amongst other things.

Have a watch of the video above, and start stretching your thumbs ready for battle when it comes out on Nov 22nd. Remember, even The Stig’s Digital Cousin doesn’t take defeat lightly…

The Xbox One Super V8 is, if you’re unaware, a bit of a beast. Set to compete at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 this Sunday, this Hulk-green slice of Aussie muscle is seriously bonkers: 640bhp from a 5.0-litre V8, to give a 0-60mph time of 3.3 seconds and top speed of185mph.

It’ll be raced by Britain’s three-time WTCC champ Andy Priaulx and two-time DTM winner Mattias Ekstrom, but there’s one other driver who you’ll be able to race against. But he’s not The Stig. He’s The Stig’s Digital Cousin.
