Basketball history is filled with incredible duos. Jordan and Pippen. Stockton and Malone. Shaq and Kobe. And now, USA Basketball and Twitch.
We’re excited to announce that USA Basketball is bringing their talents to Twitch for the run up to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, and we’ve saved courtside seats for you.
Twitch will be Team USA’s home for everything from player camps and practices, exhibition games against other national teams, and even a first look at the new 3 on 3 format coming to the Olympics next year. It’s all going down on /NBA, but everyone is also invited to co-stream everything with your communities.
The first featured exhibition game is against Team Australia on August 22 at 7:30PM PT. Make sure to follow /NBA to get reminders before Team USA goes live.

Last year the NBA G League brought real-life professional hoops to Twitch for the first time. Basketball fans watched the game’s rising stars dazzle on the hardwood and many streamers co-streamed the broadcasts to their communities with their commentary and play-by-play. Even more used the official NBA G League Extension to make picks and take home bragging rights. This year the NBA G League is back on Twitch and there’s more of everything.
Co-streaming the games
This season, NBA G League games will air every Friday and Saturday from February 8 through March 23 on /nbagleague. That’s where you can tune in to watch the games with their original audio and play-by-play. But, this is Twitch and watching isn’t enough. That’s why co-streaming is enabled for every single game and everyone is invited to give it a spin. (For those who haven’t tried it yet, co-streaming is a great way to connect streamers with their communities around things they love. Streamers can put their unique spin on a broadcast other than what they normally stream to create a novel experience for everyone.) If you’re a streamer and want to give co-streaming a try, you can find a commentary-free broadcast to use on your co-stream at /nbagleaguecostreams.
Official G League Extension
You can also get in the game with the new and improved official G League Extension. It’ll let you view stats during games, earn points for tuning in and earn even more points when you ‘boost’ players you think will fill the stat sheet, and this year you can earn points as a community to rep your favorite co-streamer on the leaderboard. You’ll also get the chance to vote on the Twitch MVP of every match who will be interviewed on the court after the game.
Where to watch
You can watch the original broadcast at /nbagleague, or you can choose to watch Twitch Partners and Affiliates who are planning on co-streaming the NBA G League this year. So, if you’re looking for a more unique take on the action or just want to enjoy the game with a community you’re a part of, take a look at who’s co-streaming this week’s games:
Friday, February 8: Rio Grande V. vs South Bay at 7pm PT
When the NBA G League arrived on Twitch last year, we told you more cool extension features were coming in 2018. Well, we checked the calendar and it turns out that it’s been 2018 for like, two whole months. So today we’re introducing all kinds of cool new stuff. Here’s a look at how NBA G League basketball on Twitch is heating up.
First, we’re introducing new ways to earn Loyalty Points through Muxy’s NBA G League extension. As always, you can sit back and relax knowing you’ll earn points just by watching games, but if you’re ready to take it to the next level you can pick the player you think will fill the stat sheet with the Boost Player function. Choose wisely and you’ll earn points based on that player’s performance. You can also earn points by participating in Quarterly Polling with your predictions during every game. Your points will add up all season, so get out there and rule the leaderboard. For more info on Loyalty Points and everything else having to do with the extension, you can check out all the details here.
For you statheads out there, we’re also expanding the on-stream statistics to include comparisons between players and teams. They’re all still updated in real-time, right on the video player.
NBA G League games are streaming all season long on Twitch, so make sure to tune in and get in on the action. And then, as they say in the sportsball biz, hit the showers.
Last week the NBA G League arrived on Twitch with an interactive experience that you can’t get anywhere else. Now, you can be a part of the show and take things to the next level.
Starting today at 7pm PT you can watch and co-stream any NBA G League game streamed on Twitch on your own channel. So bring your hot takes, play-by-play, stat breakdowns, and fan rants because it’s your chance to put your unique spin on the broadcasts. Need a little inspiration? Here’s a highlight from week one.
Now, for the details. One does not simply walk into co-streaming the G League. Here’s how to get started:
First, get your broadcasting software set up.
Set your favorite broadcast software to capture the stream live on twitch.tv/nbagleaguecostreams. This channel has a clean feed without commentary. For more help using your specific software click here.
Set your ‘game’ to NBA G League.
Use the hashtag #NBAGLeagueOnTwitch to spread the word about your co-stream.
Then, for the full NBA G League on Twitch experience, install the NBA G League Extension (seriously, it’s awesome).
On the left side of your dashboard, install the NBA G League Extension in the Extensions Manager.
After it’s installed, make sure to enable the extension. For help, you can see How to Use Extensions.
Select the game you’ll be co-streaming in your live dashboard.
Watching basketball is great, but it’s even better when you’re watching every monster dunk live with thousands of other fans. We’re happy to announce that the NBA G League, the NBA’s official minor league, is coming to Twitch and we’re bringing the arena experience right along with it. Starting this Friday, we’ll be broadcasting up to six NBA G League games a week throughout the season. You can check out the first weekly schedule right here.
Twitch chat can add hype to any stream, even grannies reading children’s stories, so custom emotes will, of course, be a part of the G League experience on Twitch. Chat, we’re passing you the rock, don’t let us down. Sure you could yell at your screen the old fashioned way, but the neighbors will talk.
But chat is merely a warmup. To create a truly new way to watch, the NBA G League channel will feature custom Extensions that let you track player, team, and league stats right from the video player, as well as the ability to earn loyalty points by watching games and other interactions, with even more cool stuff on the way. The only thing missing is a t-shirt cannon, but we’re working on it.
We’re also teaming up with some of your favorite Partners (who happen to be hoops fanatics) for exclusive co-streams during some of our first live broadcasts. Watch, chat, and rant along with their communities and see if they can call the games better than the pros. GoldGlove, Akademiks and VernNotice are among those with scheduled co-streams during the first week of games. You can find the complete co-stream schedule on our NBA G League page.
We’ll see you on the floor, don’t forget to hydrate because something something you’re on fire.
