Announcing the MLB The Show 22 Summer Circuit

The competitive MLB The Show 22 esports season begins with the Summer Circuit.

With an updated format, a new platform to play on, and additional chances to win, there are more reasons than ever to test your skills and show off your Diamond Dynasty squad. The Summer Circuit gives eligible players* a shot to win millions of Stubs^TM, a share of the $25,000 prize pool, autographed Shohei Ohtani items, and more.

Summer Circuit

The competitive cross-platform MLB The Show 22 Summer Circuit is available to those 13+ in the U.S. and Canada, across all PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms. This year, the Summer Circuit has four open qualifiers. The top 16 players who qualify from each qualifier will later compete in the Grand Finals for $25,000 in total cash prizing and more.

Those who don’t place in the top 16 on their first entry can try again in any of the remaining Qualifiers.

Schedule:
- Qualifier 1: May 21-22
- Qualifier 2: May 28-29
- Qualifier 3: June 4-5
- Qualifier 4: June 11-12
- Finals: June 18-19
Sign up now for the Summer Circuit

On Day One of each Summer Circuit Qualifier, all players will compete in an open ladder format. Competitors can queue up at any time within an eight-hour window, but must complete six three-inning games for their score to count. Each win earns a player a point and each loss loses a player a point. The top 64 players (plus ties) will move on to Day Two.

On Day Two, the top 64 players (plus ties) will compete in a single-elimination bracket playing nine-inning games. Every player who reaches Day 2 will receive at least 11,000 MLB The Show Stubs.

Open Qualifier Prizes:
- 1st Place: 1,050,000 MLB The Show 22 Stubs
- 2nd Place: 600,000 MLB The Show 22 Stubs
- 3rd – 4th Place: 300,000 MLB The Show 22 Stubs
- 5th – 8th Place: 150,000 MLB The Show 22 Stubs
- 9th – 16th Place: 67,500 MLB The Show 22 Stubs
- 17th – 32nd Place: 24,000 MLB The Show 22 Stubs
- 33rd – 64th Place: 11,000 MLB The Show 22 Stubs
- Every player who finishes the minimum number of games (6) will receive 11,000 Stubs, win or lose.
The Grand Finals will take place from June 18-19. Day One will feature a single-elimination bracket format with the top 64 players from the four Open Qualifiers.

On Day Two, watch the final four competitors play on the San Diego Studio Twitch channel with 1st place taking home $15,000!

Tournament Tips

When warming up for the competition, be sure you’re practicing hitting and pitching on the Legend difficulty set for your tournament. Once you start doing that, you’re on your way to a better game day:
- Supercharged is the newest boost in MLB The Show 22. If a real-life player has a fantastic game, there’s a chance his card may go Supercharged in MLB The Show 22***, increasing his stats exponentially for 48 hours! Supercharged players can add the edge your team needs to make it to the top.
- Hand eye coordination is key in tournaments. In the upgraded “Practice Mode” you can not only head to batting practice, but also now you can practice fielding and base running, allowing for even more preparation.
- Ranked Seasons can be a great practice environment for playing competitively with your Diamond Dynasty squad***. Plus, as you climb the leaderboard you’ll unlock more rewards to use.
FRIENDLIES – There are plenty of people trying to play friendly matches** during the week to prepare for the tournaments. Join the MLB The Show Official Discord or the Battlefy Tournament Support Discord and find some friends to play practice games with.

MLB The Show 22 Jackie Robinson Day Celebration

Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball during the modern era. A true trailblazer in many areas including sports, media, and the civil rights movement.

Jackie stood for: class, the love of the game and of course, equality. He was a powerful force of positive change, that changed the landscape of sports and the world today.

As has been tradition each season since 2004, MLB and the teams will celebrate the anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s historic MLB debut as he broke baseball’s color barrier throughout the league on April 15, 1947. For the 75th anniversary we wanted to make this year’s celebration extra special. In partnership with the Jackie Robinson Foundation, Sony Interactive Entertainment, The Players Association and Major League Baseball.

From April 15, 2022 through April 29 on US digital platform stores where MLB The Show is sold. You can purchase the Jackie Robinson Foundation Pack ($4.99 USD). PlayStation and San Diego Studio will donate 100% of the proceeds* from this pack after store platform fee deductions are applied to the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Prepare to become a Major-Leaguer in MLB The Show 22, out tomorrow

Our San Diego Studio team is very excited for tomorrow’s release of MLB The Show 22. In addition to the new features, Legends, and Feature Programs fans can look forward to, we’re also celebrating this launch with the release of a 101 video series, Learn The Show.

For new and returning fans alike, this series puts you in Coach’s classroom to provide the tools you need to up your game on the diamond.
- Ever wondered what type of pitch you should use?
- How about when to power swing vs. contact swing?
- What’s a bullpen and why are my pitchers there?
Every weekday in April, we’ll be sharing a new Learn The Show video in this series on our social channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) to answer these questions and more, and will maintain a full library for your quick reference at www.theshow.com/learntheshow.

We’ve also been working on a lot of great new features for all our fans, returning and new. Here are just a few of the new additions to look forward to in MLB The Show 22:

Road To The Show and Ballplayer

We’ve received a lot of community feedback and are happy to confirm we’ve addressed some of those requests. We hope you’re as excited as we are.
- You can create multiple ballplayers now. Take them beyond your Road to the Show personalized Baseball RPG experience, and customize your Ballplayers to aid in your progression.
- We have increased flexibility when it comes to pitching. Full flexibility with your repertoire with our new pitch select system.
- Improved mission variety and progression opportunities through Ballplayer Programs, making it even easier for you to upgrade your ball player.
- Updated and refreshed Dynamic Challenges, like drive a runner home using a power swing or drive a runner home using a normal swing. Those are just a few examples of the new challenges and new rewards.
Gameplay: Pitching, Hitting and Fielding
- Expanded difficulty spectrum to help our beginner fans: Amateur and Minors
- Fielding has been added to custom practice to let you turn double plays, rob home runs and practice making perfect throws to any base
- With PCI Lock, users can now select their PCI starting position from 9 distinct spots to make it easier to get the PCI where you want it
- Dynamic Perfect Accuracy Region for pitching. This impacts how easily you can pinpoint certain pitches high or low in the strike zone
- We’ve added hundreds of new fielding, throwing, and catching animations.
Diamond Dynasty
- Faces of the Franchise players are back!
  - One 90 OVR player reps each MLB club in the first Featured Program of the year!
  - Play the way you want. Choose single or multiplayer modes to complete specific tasks.
  - Unlock 12 of the 30 bosses by playing moments and missions.
- Get ready for another exciting season of live content:
  - Play new Programs rotating every few weeks to earn boss rewards.
  - Add unlockable animations and audio items to customize your Diamond Dynasty squad.
- Look for Roster Updates based on real-life player performances.
- New mode, Mini Seasons, brings more immersive ways to play vs CPU with your Diamond Dynasty squad.
- Diamond Dynasty has 150+ Legends for you to find and create a dominating squad to play with the all-time greats and today’s stars.
Cross- Play* and Progression**
- Invite friends and play across all PlayStation, Xbox, and now Nintendo Switch platforms.
  - Create your MLB The Show Account on TheShow.com and link your PlayStation, Xbox, and/or Nintendo Switch and you are all set.
  - While you are creating your new linked account, make sure you sign-up for The Scouting Report, so we can send you all the latest MLB The Show 22 information and subscribers also get an exclusive pack each month starting in April. So head over to www.theshow.com to get your account set up.

Ein brandneues Kommentatorenteam kommt zu MLB The Show 22

Für MLB The Show 22 hat das Team von San Diego Studio ganze Arbeit geleistet, um eine der wichtigsten Komponenten für das Spielerlebnis zu überarbeiten: Zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte von The Show gibt es ein neues Kommentatorensystem sowie ein neues Kommentatorenduo mit Jon „Boog“ Sciambi und Chris Singleton. Hier ein kleiner Einblick hinter die Kulissen:
- In 128 einzelnen Aufnahmesessions mit 350 Aufnahmestunden wurden etwa 45.000 Audiolines aufgenommen. Kein Wunder, dass Boog und Singy sich in dem Video mit Coach geklont haben!
- Die Kommentatorensysteme wurden in zahlreichen wichtigen Bereichen überarbeitet, darunter Spieleinleitungen, Homerun-Ansagen, Spielzuganalysen und mehr.
- Ein neues Konversationssystem wurde implementiert, um natürlichere Unterhaltungen zwischen den Kommentatoren zu ermöglichen, die sich nahtlos in das Geschehen jedes Spiels einfügen. Boog und Singy haben viele ihrer Lines zusammen aufgenommen, damit dieser Aspekt richtig zur Geltung kommt.
- Verbessertes Audio-Stitching sorgt bei allen Kommentaren für mehr Abwechslung und bessere Einbindung von Spielernamen. Außerdem wurde die Dynamik der Spielansagen erweitert, um der Spannung jedes Moments zu entsprechen.
- Mit Aufnahmen sowohl aus echten MLB-Übertragungen als auch aus MLB The Show bietet der Kommentar ein einzigartiges Erlebnis für jeden Spieler.
Jon „Boog“ Sciambi und Chris Singleton haben als MLB-Moderatoren steile Karrieren hingelegt und kommentieren bereits seit über zehn Jahren gemeinsam Spiele. Wie aufgeregt seid ihr, das neue Kommentatorenteam für MLB The Show 22 zu sein?

Die Marke Sony ist legendär und meiner Meinung nach ist Baseball noch immer Amerikas liebster Zeitvertreib. Die Chance zu haben, eines der besten Videospiele der Welt zu prägen, ist etwas, auf das ich und meine Familie immer mit großer Freude zurückblicken werden.“

Boog: „Die Arbeit an MLB The Show 22 hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht, es war mit Sicherheit das coolste und einmaligste Erlebnis meiner Karriere. Dass ich mit Singy zusammenarbeite, macht es noch besser, da ich dieses Erlebnis mit einem Freund teilen kann.“

Wie war es, mit San Diego Studio zu arbeiten, um eure Stimmen in das Spiel zu bringen?

A brand new commentary team is coming to MLB The Show 22

For MLB The Show 22, the team at San Diego Studio have been hard at work innovating one of the core components and features of the in-game experience, an entirely new commentary system and broadcast team featuring Jon “Boog” Sciambi and Chris Singleton for the first time in The Show history. Here’s a look behind the curtain:
- 128 separate recording sessions occurred, which included 350 recording hours and approximately 45,000 lines of audio. No wonder Boog and Singy cloned themselves in the video with Coach!
- Commentary systems have been redesigned for several major categories, including game intros, home run calls, post-play analysis, and more
- A new conversation system has been implemented, allowing for more natural banter between commentators that seamlessly integrates into the live action of each game. Boog and Singy recorded a lot of their lines together to bring this feature to life.
- Audio stitching enhancements increase the variety of both play-by-play calls and color commentary and improves upon player name integration. An enhanced dynamic range of play-by-play calls has also been implemented to match the excitement of each moment.
- Content captured from both real-life MLB broadcasts and MLB The Show-called commentary leads to a curated experience unique to each player.
Jon “Boog” Sciambi and Chris Singleton have had stellar careers as MLB broadcasters, with over a decade of experience calling games together, and we are excited to bring their talents to MLB The Show to create an even more authentic gameplay experience. How excited are you to be the new commentary team for MLB The Show 22?

Singy: “I can’t really express how excited I am to be part of the broadcast team for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s MLB The Show! Sony is a legendary brand and baseball is still America’s favorite pastime in my opinion. To have an imprint on one of the top video games in the world is something me and my family will always reflect on with great joy.”

Boog: “Working on MLB The Show 22 has been an absolute thrill and is certainly one the coolest and unique things I have done in my career. Partnering with Singy has made it extra special because I get to share the experience with a friend.”

What was the process like working with San Diego Studio to get your voices into the game?

Boog: “The San Diego Studio team has been incredible in their dedication and attention to detail; those guys made it fun and are a huge part of why the process was both successful and enjoyable.”

Singy: “Working with San Diego Studio over the past few years has truly been one of the most memorable experiences of my career. This isn’t easy work for any of us but we all became a family and enjoyed the grind together. The entire team loves the sport of baseball so much that oftentimes our recording sessions featured passionate “off air” discussions/debates about the sport that consumes us.”

Shohei Ohtani’s 2021 season was one for the ages. Hitting 46 home runs, 100 RBI’s, and stealing 26 bases while also having a 9-2 record on the mound with a 3.18 ERA and 156 strikeouts. Famous illustrator Takashi Okazaki creates MLB The Show 22’s Collector’s Edition cover art featuring Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani was our unanimous choice to be on the cover of MLB The Show 22, but we wanted to do something special for the Collector’s Edition(s). You might not know this, but Shohei is a big fan of manga and anime; he has been since his years attending Hanamaki Higashi High School in Japan. His passion for baseball has always been high but his love for a specific manga series made him love baseball more.

Shohei Ohtani put together what could be considered one of the greatest single seasons in MLB history. One could say it was superhero like, we sure did. With that in mind and knowing Shohei’s love for manga and anime the decision was clear. A normal Collector’s Edition cover wouldn’t suffice— we needed to take it to the next level.

We heard through the grapevine that famed manga artist, director, and writer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai, Batman Ninja) was a huge fan of Shohei Ohtani. We all thought how cool would it be if Takashi drew an anime version of Shohei for the Collector’s Edition cover of MLB The Show 22? Shohei is a once in a generation athlete with superhero like abilities on the field. What better way to bring that to life than to have worlds collide on a truly unique cover? We are thrilled to share the results of this collaboration.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, die Jackie Robinson Foundation und San Diego Studio freuen sich, das zweite Jahr in Folge ankündigen zu können, dass für jede MLB The Show 22 Collector’s Edition, die in den USA verkauft wird (nur MVP Edition und Digital Deluxe Edition), 1 USD an die Jackie Robinson Foundation gespendet wird. Shohei Ohtanis Saison 2021 wird uns noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben. 46 Homeruns, 100 RBIs und 26 SBs sowie eine Bilanz von 9-2 mit einem ERA von 3,18 und 156 Strikeouts in seiner Position als Pitcher. Ein Sprichwort sagt: „Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen.“ Zwar mag es so wirken, als wäre Ohtani in den USA über Nacht zum Star geworden, doch in Wirklichkeit arbeitet er schon seit seiner Jugendzeit auf der Hanamaki Higashi High School in Japan auf sein Ziel hin.

Nach einer der eindrucksvollsten Saisons in der Geschichte des Major League Baseballs hat Shohei Ohtani es mehr als verdient auf der Hülle von MLB The Show 22 abgebildet zu werden.

Wir freuen uns, heute bekannt geben zu können, dass MLB The Show 22 am 5. April 2022 veröffentlicht wird. Die Standardversion für die Konsolen der letzten Generation kostet 59,99 Euro. Die Standardversion für die Konsolen der aktuellen Generation kostet 69,99 Euro.

Das zweite Jahr in Folge wird MLB The Show auf eine weitere Plattform erweitert. Fans erhalten somit eine völlig neue Spielweise! MLB The Show 22 wird zum ersten Mal auf der Nintendo Switch verfügbar sein. Bisher war es nur für die PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One und Xbox Series X|S erhältlich. Dies ist ein sehr aufregender Moment für uns alle, da das berühmte Franchise jetzt für weitere Spieler zugänglich sein wird. Wir möchten uns bei Sony Interactive Entertainment, Xbox, Nintendo Co. Ltd, Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Players Association und San Diego Studio bedanken, die dies möglich gemacht haben.

Erweiterungen wie plattformübergreifendes Spielen, Cross-Saves und plattformübergreifende Fortschritte für MLB The Show 22 werden auch für die Nintendo Switch verfügbar sein!

Nintendo-Fans können jetzt gemeinsam mit Xbox- und PlayStation-Fans online plattformübergreifend in MLB The Show 22* gegeneinander antreten. Darüber hinaus können Spieler mit plattformübergreifenden Fortschritten Errungenschaften auf jeder Plattform oder Konsolengeneration sammeln und nutzen (ausgenommen sind exklusive Funktionen von PS5 und Xbox Series X|S wie Stadium Creator). Mit Cross-Saves können Spieler eine gespeicherte Datei für den Road to the Show- oder Franchise-Modus auf eine andere Konsole übertragen.**
