  • Fast & Furious Crossroads – Vollgas für die Familie

Fast & Furious Crossroads – Vollgas für die Familie

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

    Ärger in Athen

  • Adapting Sword Art Online’s massive world into a JRPG

Adapting Sword Art Online’s massive world into a JRPG

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Since its introduction in 2013, the Sword Art Online anime has garnered a huge number of fans worldwide. It’s easy to see why, with its colorful cast of characters and exploration of the psychological effects of virtual reality. Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris, out tomorrow, allows players to experience the anime’s latest arc in JRPG form. We spoke with Lead Producer, Yousuke Futami, to get the inside scoop on the latest addition to the Sword Art Online game series.

Q: This game follows the Alicization arc of the anime. What made you decide to follow the canon anime storyline instead of creating a game-specific storyline?

When describing the Alicization Arc, in order to express the vast world of the original work and the anime, we came to the conclusion that the opening part should be the same between the anime and the game. We wanted to explore themes of the original work such as Kirito and Eugio’s friendship, Artificial Intelligence, the differences among humans, what defines a spirit and so on. It is straightforward even for those who watch the anime or read the original work but haven’t played the previous games, so I think it is easier to jump in.

Q: Were there any challenges in adapting the anime storyline into a video game?

As you know, the volume of the first half of the Alicization anime is colossal. I assumed we could actually make a game out of the first 24 episodes. With that massive volume in mind, it was challenging to adapt the story in a way that it could coexist with the gameplay. We made sure players can play the anime story in the game without feeling stressed.

Q: Medina Orthinanos is a new game-original character. Can you take us through the process of creating a new character for a story that is already established?

We made her appear in the game sooner than many of the fans would probably expect. Kirito and Eugeo meet her just when they leave Rulid Village, but she goes to the Academy like Eugeo and the important point is that this spins into the later part of the story. Medina is a very strong and honest character. As AI lives are almost like the humans in the Under World, we set her character as someone who would explode their “feelings.”

In the anime and the original work, Alice’s struggle is shown, and in the game, there are friends like Kirito and Eugeo to share with. Media is a contrast; she is looked down on by different people. She was created to express the “feelings,” essential as an AI in this world. Medina has a very important role in the game version of the Alicization arc. Without her, the game’s theme can’t be told. I really hope you can experience the game’s message throughout the journey with Medina.

Q: Did you have any reservations about adding an original character into the story?

As a daughter of a noble family, Medina is burdened with the dark side of the aristocracy and the humans. This part follows the original work or the anime settings, so we did not have reservations with adding her into the game.

Q: Should fans expect more Sword Art Online games that will follow the anime storyline?

Of course! I hope that young talents yet to come will create new SAO games for the next generation.

Q: What do you think sets Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris apart from previous SAO games?

The battles feature the “AI” quite a lot.  Your partner character will memorize their move sets as they fight more and more enemies. You can set and customize your partner’s memorized moves on your own, upload it, download from other online players’ partner AI, and so on.

Since it grows quickly as you fight, you can feel the members becoming stronger. Compared to past SAO games, this title has evolved for you to experience more SAO-like battles. I hope you enjoy playing the game with many of the partner characters you can choose from.

Q:  What are you most excited about for fans to experience in this game?

I hope that fans will enjoy the world of SAO Alicization, experience the SAO story only told in this game with their favorite characters, and also have fun exploring the world of Underworld in general. I hope they can sense the meaning of the game’s catchphrase: “The world will never forget you” through their gameplay experience.

Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris comes out tomorrow, July 10. Pick up a digital copy of the game for PS4 before August 13, 2020 to receive four bonus costumes.

  • So wurde Sword Art Online zu einem RPG

So wurde Sword Art Online zu einem RPG

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris erscheint morgen, 10. Juli 2020. Schnpåpt euch vor dem 13. August 2020 eine digitale Kopie des Spiels für PS4, um vier Bonuskostüme zu erhalten.

  • First Boss Battle Episode Arrives Tomorrow For Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

First Boss Battle Episode Arrives Tomorrow For Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hello everyone! I am Ryosuke Hara, lead producer of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Thank you for your support of this game so far. We have new and exciting content coming soon, beginning with a Boss Battle Episode that introduces players to Beerus and Whis from the movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods.

This upcoming DLC is the first Boss Battle Episode that Season Pass owners can access. The Season Pass includes 2 Boss Battle Episodes and 1 Additional Scenario. In terms of content volume, each Boss Battle Episode is on par with a few Sub Stories combined. The Additional Scenario we will be on-par with one story saga (such as the Saiyan or Frieza sagas).

In this first Boss Battle Episode, players will get a chance to go against the strongest opponents they have faced thus far and further increase their growth and power level. However, please keep in the mind that this DLC Episode does not follow the story from the movie; rather, it will have its own original setting, and will mainly focus on battle gameplay.

The main focus of this DLC will be improving strength by following Whis’ training regimen, allowing Goku and Vegeta to awaken a new power and finally challenging the ultimate opponent, Beerus. Players will also be able to fight against a level 250 Beerus from the beginning. Confident players should definitely take on this challenge without undergoing Whis’ training.

Players are not required to clear the main story campaign to play this DLC, so they are free to play however they like! You can even choose to play the new DLC and achieve the Super Saiyan God form from the beginning, and take out Raditz in one single blow.

The second part of this DLC Episode is still undergoing development, and I can’t really spoil any details just yet, but take my advice that it might be best to start leveling and strengthening your characters as much as you can…

  • Become Plus Ultra with My Hero One’s Justice 2 Tips, Out Today

Become Plus Ultra with My Hero One’s Justice 2 Tips, Out Today

    Reading Time: 8 minutes

The fight for justice gets bigger, badder, and quirkier! My Hero One’s Justice 2, out today, brings back the original cast from the first game, while also introducing plenty of new fan favorites. With over 40 playable characters, improved battle mechanics, new team interactions, and an exciting new Mission Mode where you get to run your own hero agency, players will be sure to have a blast!

To help you get ready for battle, we at Bandai Namco have put together a quick guide on how to master some of our staff’s personal favorite new characters.

    Sir. Nighteye

Sir. Nighteye is the one of the few heroes who wears glasses (just like me!) and obviously the best dressed one among all. Always calm, collected, and stylish, even in the face of peril. Oh, and he sees into the future! How awesome is that?
    – Andrew Tedjo, Media Manager

    Tips and Tricks

    1. Contract Draft is a quick attack that has a lot of range, perfect for doing damage to an opponent while keeping your distance (so you can analyze them, of course).
Tip: If you hold triangle for a few seconds and then release, he will fire 3 times in rapid succession. This is a good way to attack while also retreating.
    2. If your opponent is attacking you in close quarters and it’s hard to escape, perform No Visitors. This is a grab that transitions into a counterattack.
Tip: Follow up with Bottom-Up Management and Top-Down Management for a truly boss combo.
    3. For a really cool Plus Ultra All attack cutscene, choose Mirio Togata and Deku as your sidekicks.

    Twice

Twice is an interesting character because he opens up some serious opportunities for mind games. Twice’s quirk allows him to make copies of his opponent at any time (as long as he’s made the proper measurements!) This can severely change-up the neutral game. At any moment he might use YOU as a weapon.
    – Sam Wilkinson, Community Specialist

    Tips and Tricks

    1. Use your opponent’s fighter against them! When up close and personal with your opponent, take your opponent’s measurements with Yard Research.
Tip: You can perform this move while in mid-air! It does not work if your opponent is guarding, however.
    2. After you’ve taken your opponents’ measurements, you can make a clone of them! You can control this clone to attack your opponent. It only lasts for a few seconds, however, so time your attacks wisely.
    3. If you complete your team with Toga and Mr. Compress, you will unlock an entertaining cutscene when you perform your Plus Ultra All attack.

    Mirio Togata

Mirio Togata is my favorite because he is very strong, but always super optimistic and cheerful. He is a lot of fun to play because he is full of surprises – just like his quirk. His Permeation quirk is really unique and it’s cool to see how they’ve managed to translate it into this game.
    – Alex Luong, Associate Digital Marketing Manager

    Tips and Tricks

    1. Make use of Mirio’s Permeation by doing the Invisible Eye Break. While in Invisible Eye Break mode, your opponents’ attacks will phase through you! You can only hold this mode for around 3 seconds.
    2. Catch your opponent off guard by using Vanish Soleus. Mirio will phase through the ground while rushing at the opponent, ending the move with an uppercut from underneath.
Tip: If you want to be even more tricky and feint the move, hold R1 immediately after initiating it – Mirio will still phase through the ground while rushing at your opponent, but will pop up right in front of them instead of finishing with the uppercut.
    3. If you’re cornered by an opponent, a good move to use is the Blind Touch Eye Gouge. Mirio will guard, then transition into a grab.

    Mina Ashido

Mina Ashido is the perfect blend of fun, fashionable, and fierce. Her breakdancing moves make for a flashy fighting style that’s hard to ignore.
    – Stephen Akana, Brand Manager

    Tips and Tricks

    1. Mina is a great example of a character that has both close and long-range attacks. Use this to your advantage by mixing up your attacks to keep your opponent guessing!
    2. The attack Acid Rain is a perfect blend of both defense and offense. When performing Acid Rain, Mina puts up a temporary acid barrier that deals damage to opponents that get too close.
Tip: Immediately follow up Acid Rain with another attack to surprise your opponents.
    3. Mina is known for her sweet breakdancing moves! Execute the Breaking! attack to show off your dance skills while also attacking your opponent. You can also hold this attack while moving to cover more distance! You can only hold this move for approximately three seconds, so plan it wisely.

    Nejire Hado

I like Nejire because she is fun, affectionate, cheerful, and strong. She’s the only female member of the Big Three, and I think it’s great that she can be a role model to the younger female students of U.A.
    – Angela Chen, PR Specialist

    Tips and Tricks

    1. Nejire’s wave motion quirk is well suited for mid to long-range combat. The movement of her attacks a little on the slower side, so keep that in mind.
    2. A good opening move is the Blast Wave. The attack actually continues for a few seconds after you’ve let go of the button, so you are free to dash towards or around your opponent afterwards. You can also follow up with some quick combos!
Tip: Trap your opponent in a corner with Blast Wave, then follow up with a sidekick attack! We like using Mirio Togata or Tamaki Amajiki for this!
    3. Nejire can fly if you hold the jump button. If you press the jump button twice before holding, you can get even higher. Follow up with a quick Battle Juggle move in mid-air to deal damage to your opponents from a safe distance.
Tip: Keep in mind that all of Nejire’s Plus Ultra moves must be done from the ground, and not in mid-air.

    Overhaul

Although he’s a germaphobe, he isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. His quirk allows him to destroy and restore objects immediately. This allows him to attack up close or use long- range attacks. I like playing Overhaul because it allows you play from a variety of ranges, and his attacks have huge range!
    – Ben Le, Digital Marketing Coordinator

    Tips and Tricks

    1. The Offering: Anti-Ground is a solid attack with an incredible range. It can do damage to an enemy from across the opposite end of the arena! Perfect for keeping enemies (and their germs) away from you.
    2. If you want to surprise your opponent, perform the Dome Strike attack. It unleashes an attack directly under your opponent — they won’t know what hit ‘em!
    3. A few of Overhaul’s attacks involve him touching the ground. If you want to confuse your opponents, perform the two attacks mentioned above, but hold for a few seconds before releasing. This way, your opponent won’t know which attack you are planning to unleash!

So there you have it, folks! We hope our tips and tricks can help you be PLUS ULTRA in your fight for justice (or injustice, if you choose to be a villain)! While we covered a few of the cool new characters in this guide, there are other new characters that you can play as, such as the mighty Gang Orca, or the always cheerful BMI Hero: Fat Gum, to name a few. Be sure to experiment with different characters, both as your main fighter and as your sidekicks. Every character has unique abilities to bring to the table, so play them all to find your favorite combo. My Hero One’s Justice 2 is available for PS4 now.

  • One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows Hits PS4 Friday, Q&A With Anime & Game Producers

One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows Hits PS4 Friday, Q&A With Anime & Game Producers

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

In the upcoming PS4 arena brawler One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, players will get to experience the abilities of Saitama, the titular One-Punch Man, as well as discover the story with their very own custom Hero.

Ahead of A Hero Nobody Knows launch on the February 28, we caught up with the Anime producer Chinatsu Matsui, and the game’s producer Yahata Yasuhiro to find out more on what makes One-Punch Man so special.

    About the Anime

Why did you decide to make One-Punch Man an anime? What are the strengths of this series?
Chinatsu Matsui: The concept of the world’s strongest man has universal appeal, and I thought people would be drawn to and relate to Saitama because he’s just a regular guy. Besides, I really wanted to see Yusuke Murata’s amazing drawings — particularly the action scenes — in motion, so I decided to produce the anime. Despite the easy-to-grasp setting and plot, the story also deals with complex issues like how to define justice, and delves into the characters and their backgrounds. One of the great things about it is how easy it is to get into, while at the same time being deep and thought-provoking.

What are the factors that make One-Punch Man so successful?
CM: As I mentioned before, part of Saitama’s wide-ranging appeal lies in him being both the strongest hero and extremely normal; you don’t see that in modern superheroes. Another major contributing factor is ONE’s unique sense of humor, which comes through even in serious moments.

How do you see the evolution of One-Punch Man for the future?
CM: As long as the manga keeps going, I’d like to continue the anime. It’s already popular internationally, but I’m going to put my all into getting it to reach even more people and to capture their hearts.

    About the Anime and Game

For someone who is not familiar with the universe, what are the factors that make One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows accessible to everyone?
CM: I can hardly imagine what it must feel like to control Saitama, the strongest man in the world, so I think that will be a big draw. That and the fact players can explore the world of One-Punch Man as an original hero.

What were your expectations when the decision of making a One-Punch Man fighting game was made?
CM: Right from the start, we received a proposal suggesting Saitama take enemies out in one punch; I was looking forward to feeling how good it must be to do that.

What message would you give to the One-Punch Man community regarding the upcoming game?
CM: The game will make you feel like you’ve stepped into the world of One-Punch Man, so I encourage you to give it a try.

    About the Game

What attracted you in the One-Punch Man universe to turn it into a video game?
Yahata Yasuhiro: I loved the idea of taking the world of One-Punch Man, with all its cool characters and rapid-fire jokes, and making it into a game; the staff and I really had fun developing it.

How did you approach Saitama’s gameplay? Was balancing the game a challenge?
YY: We worked extremely hard to find a way to convey the overwhelming power of Saitama, the world’s strongest hero. After a lot of trial and error, we were able to capture his strength from the original the story, while scaling things down to a more even level for PVP — not the usual way of balancing a fighting game!

We do also have a mode where players can fight one another with Saitama at full strength.

Do you think that letting the players create their own character in the One-Punch Man universe was a must?
YY: How could we not? When development started, we considered making Saitama the protagonist. However, he can defeat anyone with one punch, so instead we went for a customizable character who the player uses to dive in to the One-Punch Man world.

Was it difficult to turn One-Punch Man into a fighting game?
YY: Since the anime features lots of high-quality fight scenes, we tried to aim for that level of quality. We also worked hard to come up with the best way to include Saitama, the strongest hero, in a fighting game.

Was One-Punch Man a real challenge to turn into a game regarding the characters such as King?
YY: King is a Class S Hero widely respected by other heroes, despite having no real fighting ability — something only he and Saitama know. That made him just as challenging to include as Saitama.

After a lot of consideration, we were able to get him successfully in by viewing him as being effective against everyone except Saitama.

What makes you especially proud of this game?
YY: I’m proud of the quality of the character models. Yusuke Murata, who was in charge of adapting the characters from the manga to the anime, oversaw the process. That’s why the game’s models approach the anime’s level of quality.

Do you have any anecdotes or fun facts about the game production?
YY: The Hero Arrival system, where playable characters arrive late, came from trying to figure out how to create a fighting game where using Saitama would guarantee victory. Right from the start, we also planned to introduce some sort of a cost system into character selection.

    What is your favorite character?
YY: I’m a fan of Mumen Rider. It’s cool how he’s aware of his own weakness but still isn’t afraid to step up to an enemy he can’t beat.

How did you approach the scenario of the game regarding the anime progression?
YY: We started the project with the goal of adapting the first season of the anime, so we were less concerned with the story’s progression and more concerned with finding ways to make the story interesting for fans who knew it.

Because the player character fights monsters before Saitama defeats them, I think the experience differs from watching the anime.

One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows will be released on PS4 this Friday, February 28.

  • Interactive Horror Man of Medan Gets Free Friend’s Pass Starting Today

Interactive Horror Man of Medan Gets Free Friend’s Pass Starting Today

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

The ability to play in multiplayer mode is a defining feature in The Dark Pictures Anthology — a series of stand-alone, branching cinematic horror games from the creators of Until Dawn. The first installment in the anthology, Man of Medan, follows the story of five friends who have embarked on what should have been a fun-filled adventure in the South Pacific seas, only to find themselves trapped aboard a ghost ship with a dark and twisted secret.

As a special offer, Supermassive Games is giving owners of Man of Medan a free Friend’s Pass for a limited time. From today until January 6, 2020, players who own the full game (including those who have purchased previously) will receive one free Friend’s Pass which will allow them to invite a friend to one complete playthrough of the game in Shared Story mode, without the friend needing to own the full version of the game.

(Please note: both players will need a PS Plus account to play Shared Story Mode.)

    How it Works

The feature is included in the latest update, so the owner of the full game needs to have the latest version of the game. Once you have that, navigate to the Shared Story mode via the main menu. From here, invite your friend to play the game.

In order to accept the invitation and begin playing, your friend will need to have downloaded the trial version of Man of Medan available at PS Store.

  • Code Vein Out Tomorrow: 5 Tips to Get Battle-Ready

Code Vein Out Tomorrow: 5 Tips to Get Battle-Ready

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Eat or be eaten — the world of Code Vein is harsh and unforgiving. As a Revenant, you’re able to choose different Blood Codes, Blood Veils, Gifts, and weapons in a myriad of combos that give you distinct advantages in battle. Add strategic attacks and coordination with your partner into the mix, and you have an endless number of options to explore in your battle strategy.
Not quite sure where to begin in your fight for survival? Don’t worry — we’re giving you some helpful tips to use on your impending journey.

    Secret Codes

Throughout the Code Vein experience, there is a considerable amount of branching paths with hidden areas to explore. Keep a close eye out for those sparkling item identifiers in the field or markers on your mini map. They could be Vestiges — fragments of Blood Codes — that can be used to unlock memories and Gifts. Some gifts require multiple Vestiges to unlock, so be on the lookout. If you’re having trouble, there are also specific Gifts that can help identify items in a larger vicinity.

    “Rez me!”

In Code Vein, there is no shame in dying. Dying is a great way of trying out different skills and tactics to overcome difficult situations. Having a partner with you in your adventures is a great asset, as they have the ability to resurrect you within a short window after losing all your health, just as you can for them; but just like you, their ability to revive you also has a cooldown.

When fighting bosses or mobs, it’s imperative to pay close attention to your partner’s icon since it will indicate if they can revive you again. If they’re still in a cooldown phase, it might be best to back away and take things carefully until your partner can cast once more.

    Prepare for the Next Battle

Prior to entering a fight with a boss, certain preparations can be made to give you an extra advantage at the beginning of battle. Prior to entering the field and triggering the boss fight, examine which buff gifts would be advantageous for you fight such as additional fortification or elemental weapon enhancements. Though they begin to deplete from the moment you cast, they will be active as you enter your fight, giving you a chance to play aggressively from the start.

Additionally, if you can strike your foe with a Drain Attack first, you can get two additional Ichor stock from the get-go, giving you additional flexibility with more casting opportunities during your battle.

    The Definition of Insanity

There’s an old saying that the definition of insanity is repeating the same actions yet expecting a different outcome. Throughout the game, there are many points where you may hit a difficulty wall. Due to the fact that you can effectively change your character class via your Blood Code at any time, it’s in your best interest to change things up from time to time and see if you have better success.

Changing your Blood Code (or class) can affect your strength, speed, proficiency in Gift types, base Ichor stock, and the like. Additionally, you can change your partner NPC, weapon, Gift Set, and Blood Veil, all of which can be exactly what you need to take down that formidable foe. Give it a shot; what’s the worst that can happen?

    Sweet Relief

To relieve yourself of your ailments, you have a couple options. Using a consumable is a quick way to rid yourself of a status change, though it comes at a cost to purchase from the shop. Additionally, a consumable will only remove the status from yourself, leaving your partner unaffected.

Alternatively, you can use the correct Blood Code with the appropriate Gift to remove the status. Just like Gifts that buff your character, Gifts that remove status ailments will cast on both you and your partner character.

Remember these tips and tricks to gain a strong edge in your battles against the Lost. The beginning of your journey is nearly here, and we’re excited for you to take on the formidable challenges in Code Vein!

  • Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Blasts onto PS4 January 17

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Blasts onto PS4 January 17

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the chance that Dragon Ball fans around the world have been waiting for. You’ve read the manga, watched the anime, and played the games, but here comes an entirely new experience created by Dragon Ball fans, for Dragon Ball fans. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an Action RPG that lets you live the life and story of Goku. We are excited to announce that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is releasing January 17, 2020! So look out for it then and be sure to pre-order your copy today.

However, before you become the legendary Z Warrior, we took some time to talk to Producer Ryosuke Hara to share new information on what Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has in store for Dragon Ball veterans and newcomers:

What is something about this storyline that only hardcore DBZ fans will appreciate?

We’re reproducing many detailed scenes that only the diehard fans would recognize. Many of the previous Dragon Ball games, due to the nature of them being a Fighting Action Game, focused a lot on reproducing the main and most epic fights of Dragon Ball Z. But since Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an Action RPG, we’re also able to shed light on events that occurred in between the iconic fights.

We’re also featuring original stories that will be told for the very first time, through unique sub-quests and dialogue. And some settings have even been newly created by the author Akira Toriyama. So I hope this is something the hardcore DBZ fans would appreciate.

For DBZ newcomers, what arc should they most look forward to, and why is it important to the overall storyline?

I would have to say the Saiyan Arc. Aside from it being the first arc in Dragon Ball Z, it’s the moment where Goku discovers his Saiyan blood-line, and also his name “Kakarot”. And I really believe that this is when the story and world of Dragon Ball began to growing into an incredible scale.

It was recently revealed that Goku and Piccolo DMV episode will be playable as a side mission. What kind of gameplay can we expect for this?

Obviously since you don’t have a driver’s license before this episode, this is the first time you’re going to be driving a car in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Once you arrive at the Driving School, you’ll have the pass the test with a Time Attack type of mini-game.

And after to clear this episode, you’ll be able to drive your car out on the field. Needless to say, it’s a lot faster to fly. But a good means of traveling if you want to take a breath and relax.

What is your particular focus on implementing RPG elements into the gameplay for the first time in PS4 DBZ games? What do you want your fans to enjoy especially?

Our biggest focus was designing the bosses as an “RPG Boss.”

As many of you already know, the fights in Dragon Ball Z aren’t always fair: Goku’s adversaries often start with a much higher power level or have a wide range of attacks. This dynamic is hard to convey in a PvP fighting game, since players need to come to battle on equal footing.

But since this action RPG has players fighting against the CPU, we’re able to more closely reproduce the fights of the show. The HP, power, and movesets of the game’s major villains can exceed Goku’s capabilities, giving you the feeling that you’re up against truly unstoppable foes.

How does the player enhance their abilities and learn new skills?

Aside from leveling up your character by fighting against enemies, eating is also a very important feature when it comes to powering up your character. Unlike in many other RPG games, in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, eating food will not only give you temporary, but permanent buffs as well.

So if you feel that the enemy is too strong, go out on the field to gather ingredients, bring them back to Chichi, and do what Goku loves to do: eat.

Also, by collecting the Z Orbs that are out in the field, you can proceed through the Skill Tree to obtain passive skills.

Do you think that newcomers or casual fans can also enjoy DBZ: Kakarot, not only hardcore DBZ fans?

Most definitely. That’s even one of the reasons why we decided to create a game focusing on the story of Dragon Ball Z.

With the success of Dragon Ball Super and the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly, I’m sure there are many fans who have newly become Dragon Ball fans. And we thought now would be a good time to re-introduce the Dragon Ball Z lore, which is loved across the world and generations. So we hope the newcomers would play the game, as if they’re watching the anime.

What kind of sub-quests and side stories does DBZ:K have? Please tell me your favorite one?

There are sub-quest and side stories that focus on characters from the original Dragon Ball, as well as interaction between characters that may not have had much connection in the anime, such as Piccolo and Ox-King.

My personal favorite would be a side-episode focusing on Gohan and Android 16.

Here, you will discover the connection that Gohan and Android 16 had before the fight against Cell. So I’m sure playing this side-story, will bring even more emotion when Gohan evolves into Super Saiyan 2.

The new character, Bonyu has recently been announced. Why did you decide to include a new character like this?

As mentioned in an earlier answer, upon developing this game, we have received a number of new setting regarding Dragon Ball from the author Akira Toriyama.

That’s when we discovered that there was a former member in the Ginyu Force, called “Bonyu, the brains.” Not only was she strong, but she was calm and wise, making her the most superior fighter within the force.

However, she left the Ginyu Force because she didn’t like the Special Fighting Pose, and no one knows where she is, and what she’s doing now.

In Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, when Goku is heading back to Earth from Namek using Ginyu’s Space Pod, he finds the Battle Data of Bonyu.

And by taking the data to the Capsule Corp. Training Room, you will be able to go up against a Virtual Fighting Data of Bonyu.

So I hope everyone would look forward to discovering how she fights.

Never before has the story and universe of Dragon Ball Z been so faithfully realized for the fans to experience. We are so excited to share this exciting title with the world when it releases January 17, 2020.
