Wonders of Oceania Birdlife Ready to be Discovered

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Hi, this is Krzysiek, one of the founders of the Monster Couch studio. I would like to tell you about the just released Wingspan: Oceania Expansion. A continuation of the Wingspan game, which we hope you will love as much as we do.

However, let’s start with what is Wingspan. It’s a digital board game full of birds for one-to-five players. You get to play with your nature reserve composed of three habitats – forest, grassland, and wetland. Your task is to attract the most interesting birds with unusual powers, which will help you score points, achieve various goals, and, consequently, win. You can play solo against AI, with friends on your couch, or with strangers online. All is done to the accompaniment of serene, tranquil music to give you a calming experience.

    WSO screenshot

We wanted to combine the competitive side of the game with a relaxing experience, and an opportunity to learn about birds. To give you access to the colorful birdlife world we’ve implemented recordings of real bird sounds. Each card is accompanied by an interesting fact that will expand your knowledge of these remarkable creatures. We have also divided the entire board according to habitats. You can experience your gameplay on three layers created with eye-pleasing backgrounds hand-painted by our artists.

Wingspan: Oceania Expansion develops all these features of the base version of the game and takes the gameplay to a new level. Look what you will encounter in the enchanting world of Oceania birds.

    Welcome New Feathered Friends

So far, in Wingspan and its European Expansion DLC, we have been able to experience birds from the North American and European regions. The next addition will introduce nearly a hundred new birds from Oceania. Many of them have a completely new type of power, changing the balance of gameplay.

    WSO screenshot

Try Nectar to Sweeten Your Day

A brand new type of food will diversify the diet of Wingspan birds. Nectar becomes a resource useful for playing bird cards, and spending it earns you extra points at the end of each round. In Oceania, sweet snacks are worth having.

    WSO screenshot

    Varied Player Boards

Wingspan: Oceania Expansion introduces new mechanics to the game, which requires adapting the player board to new decisions and challenges. We introduced a feature that enables you to reset some of your resources. Refresh the card tray or roll your bird feeder dice whenever you need. With a revamped player board you can also get more food dice and bird cards than before. You don’t have to focus on laying eggs as before. All these changes diversify available strategies and take the metagame in new directions.

    WSO screenshot

Immerse Yourself in the Relaxing, Picturesque Landscapes of Oceania

Wingspan: Oceania Expansion stays true to its commitment to being a relaxing, aesthetically pleasing experience. Hear a new soundtrack in the game that will put you in a state of bliss. New backgrounds will take you to paradise places such as green jungle, or a sandy beach.

    WSO screenshot

Finally, I would like to invite you to join our flock of players on Discord. There you can learn a lot about the game and strategies, and find friends to play together. discord.gg/wingspan

You are bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats. Each habitat focuses on a key aspect of the growth of your preserves. In Wingspan up to 5 players compete to build up their nature preserves in a limited number of turns. Each beautiful bird that you add to your preserve makes you better at laying eggs, drawing cards, or gathering food. Many of the 170 unique birds have powers that echo real life: your hawks will hunt, your pelicans will fish, and your geese will form a flock.

  • How Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s multiplayer offers more creative ways to play

How Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s multiplayer offers more creative ways to play

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Player expectations are high for Activision and Infinity Ward’s upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. With the game sharing a similar name to what some consider the best entry in the Call of Duty series, it undoubtedly has much to prove. At the recent Call of Duty Next event, however, Infinity Ward showed it’s rising to the challenge, adding meaningful options and innovations to the franchise’s formula.

Much like the 2019 Modern Warfare, this new title  sets out to give you greater creativity to provide an extra edge, which means even more fun. The additional pieces appear in the form of various in-game tools that allow you to move, attack, and strategize in ways not seen in prior installments.

These new options are also amazingly balanced, keeping the entry barrier low but masterfully raising the high-level skill ceiling.

    Move how you want

The defining word for Modern Warfare II is “choice.” You have so many options present that you can define your playstyle and gameplay across every mode. One of those options is movement and how it plays into every aspect of the game.

Mantling has evolved, so you can use it in more ways than just getting around obstacles. Now it’s possible to hang from ledges where it was previously only feasible to jump right over or not be able to scale at all. This allows you to not only peek over at potential threats and survey the land but also pull out a one-handed weapon like a pistol and ward off or even finish off opponents.

Hanging isn’t the only new option present in the movement toolkit either. Actions out of tactical sprint have been expanded as well. You are no longer restricted to only a slide to mix up and evade enemies; you can also dive. The difference is in the ground covered and the position you’re left in. Whereas the slide keeps you to the ground, diving gives a bit of airtime and leaves you in the prone position. This tool comes into play in many areas, such as quick escapes, gunfights, and hiding. One remarkable instance witnessed during the initial gameplay reveal stream featured many players diving behind obstacles and even out of windows to avoid gunfire, explosions, and other opposition.

The biggest game-changer happens under the sea. You can swim above and underwater, with the option of amphibious vehicles also being available. While riding a speedboat above the water is pretty sweet, diving with the fishes to avoid enemy fire is even sweeter. This is especially useful in larger maps and higher player count modes like Invasion, where water travel is a constant variable in the grand battle that spans the land, sea, and sky.

    Unique tricks of the trade

Another significant expansion to how Modern Warfare II plays comes from all new lethal, tactical, and special equipment. These new weapons are the drill charge, shock stick, and inflatable decoy, and each adds a new variable to the fight that changes things up in fresh ways.

    ●       Shock Stick: The shock stick is tactical gear that can be thrown on any surface. Once it sticks, it emits a lengthy electric shock that will slow down anyone approaching it. It also makes them lose control of their weapon.

    ●       Drill Charge: The drill charge is a lethal grenade that bores its way into walls and explodes on the other side, ruining the visuals or downright putting down unsuspecting enemies in other rooms.

    ●       Inflatable Decoy: The inflatable decoy is the cheekiest of all, popping up a balloon model soldier that can catch any opponent off guard.

Like the new movement options, these weapons expand what you can do in a match and makes room for even more creativity in play. While each can be used offensively, they can also be effective in evasion attempts, scare tactics to push away incoming opposition, or merely trolling enemies and friends alike.

    Keeping it real and balanced

One of the main objectives of Infinity Ward, when it came to implementing these new options, was to bring even more authenticity and immersion to the Call of Duty series.

“These tools bring more realism into the game,” multiplayer design director Joe Cecot states. “If you’re a soldier climbing a ladder with a pistol, you’ll get that out and arm yourself. That’s why we wanted to add things like the ledge hang. You wouldn’t actually throw yourself over as we see in previous games. By giving players these choices, we not only make it more realistic, but we give them the ability to do the things they want to do instead of being forced to do something.”

But it’s not as simple as making the game as realistic as possible. Both Multiplayer Design Directors Cecot and Smith explained how a balance must be met to ensure that you keep enjoying the competitive experience.

Cecot emphasized the importance of the game feeling fluid and smooth. However, there also needs to be some weight to the soldier and weapon. It’s a constant battle for the team to make it as approachable yet skillful as possible.

This case is seen extensively with the attachment system in Modern Warfare II. You must monitor the assets you’re attaching to a gun when looking to reduce recoil, for example, but have to deal with the incurred negatives to utilize the positives. These hints of approachable realism make this title one of the most intriguing in the franchise, and the optional expansions make the player experience an easy cut above the rest.Fans can jump, mantle, dive, ledge hang, and more into the new world of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II when it releases on October 28. • The Samurai Predator arrives in Predator: Hunting Grounds

The Samurai Predator arrives in Predator: Hunting Grounds

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

We are thrilled to bring the second paid DLC pack to the game this month. Supporting this title was a goal of ours from the onset. We knew that we wanted to bring additional characters, weapons, modes, maps, and more to the game after launch. In order to service both the game and the fans we need to bring both free and paid DLC in a regular cadence. Luckily, Predator: Hunting Grounds is a rich universe we’re all excited to play with. Since we brought Dutch in as a Fireteam member last month, we’d like to introduce a new Predator class this month.

The Samurai Predator has arrived. This class of Predator comes from an ancient Japanese legend that brings to life the tale of this demon from the sky. During the hottest of days when the sun bit the necks of farmers of this island nation, a rushing sound unlike any other echoed across the sky. The Samurai warriors would recognize this omen and don their weaponry to fight the invisible demon. Year after year, the most elite of warriors would fall honorably to this Yautja in a ritual that would last for centuries. We are excited to see players bring this Yautja into battle in the hunting grounds. We included early access to the Predator Katana with this DLC pack as well. The Predator Katana will be unlockable to all players later in July.

As a reminder in case you missed earlier this month, the free update landed in-game on June 12. This update made Dutch’s Hammerhead QR5 and knife unlockable to all players. We also dropped a ton of new customizations in it as well.* You can find the complete customization list on the IllFonic forums here; it also contains the Patch Notes for 1.10 from that day. And we heard in the community that many players had reached level 100, so we increased the level cap to 150. As a reward, players will receive the Elder Predator class once hitting this new level. I have seen a few Elders in the wild already. I cannot wait to see some Samurai in the hunt this week too!

*Gameplay required to unlock weapons, skins, and classes; cosmetics acquired by randomized drops.

  • Jetzt in Predator: Hunting Grounds – der Samurai-Predator!

Jetzt in Predator: Hunting Grounds – der Samurai-Predator!

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

  • June free update now live in Predator: Hunting Grounds

June free update now live in Predator: Hunting Grounds

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

I am excited to share information about today’s free update, and the paid DLC coming later this month. We knew when we started developing Predator: Hunting Grounds that we wanted to make sure we continued to get new content into the community’s hands post launch in April. This is the second drop of many to come!

We are still excited, and pinching ourselves that it wasn’t a dream, that we were able to get Dutch’s story into everyone’s hands last month. This month’s free update for everyone will give you the ability to earn Dutch’s QR5, “Hammerhead,” rifle and his knife. In addition, there are many tints, skins, and shaders that once found and unlocked in the field lockers will be added to the customization experience. The customizations are the Obsidian Shader for Predator Weapons, Obsidian Tint for Predator Masks, Crimson Tint for Predator Armors, Sage Tint for Predator Armors, Ivy Tint for Default Predator Skin Patterns, Hydra Tint for Raptor Predator Skin Patterns, Blue Viper Shader for Fireteam Weapons, Digital Tint for Fireteam Outfits, Full Suite of Hammerhead Weapon Shaders, and Special Shader’s for Dutch’s Knife.

In addition, we are increasing the level cap to 150. We have heard from quite a few of you that you have hit 100 and we want to make sure there is more for you to do. Also, congrats on hitting 100! To reward players for climbing to these higher levels, we have added chase items that will unlock at milestones throughout the journey to level 150. Platinum Predator armor and mask tints are rewarded for reaching level 100, followed by Fireteam Knives and the Hammerhead assault rifle. Once players reach level 150, they will gain access to the Elder Predator class as well as Golden Predator armor and mask tints. We have also added a special set of Elite Fireteam weapon shaders that unlock once you reach weapon level 10 for each gun.

Coming later this month is the second paid DLC. We gave you a new Fireteam member last month so it only seemed right that we launch a new Predator. This month we are excited to introduce you to the Samurai Predator. The Samurai Predator comes to the hunting grounds from feudal Japan, this demon from legend once hunted skilled warriors who protected the island nation. You can find more information and purchase the Samurai Predator on June 30 at the PlayStation and Epic stores. We are excited to see the Samurai lurking in the jungle very soon!

Das kostenlose Juni-Update für Predator: Hunting Grounds ist da

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

    Predator: Hunting GroundsPredator: Hunting Grounds
    Predator: Hunting GroundsPredator: Hunting Grounds

    Predator: Hunting GroundsPredator: Hunting Grounds

    Predator: Hunting GroundsPredator: Hunting Grounds
