Hey there! I’m Pip from publishing label No More Robots. We previously brought you downhill biking game Descenders, and now I’m thrilled to tell you about Family Man, our next game headed to the Xbox One! We’ve been working with British developer Broken Bear Games on a first-person RPG about a regular guy and his, well, not so regular life.
You’re fired from your job after helping a colleague out, and to make matters worse, you land in hot water with the cartel, who want $100,000 by the end of the month. With no job, bills piling up, a pregnant wife and a young son, how will you stay afloat and pay off your debts?
Luckily, there is a whole neighborhood to explore, and a full cast of characters to get involved with, run errands for — and steal from — to make back your money.
Your decisions, your story
Where you go and how the story unfolds is entirely up to you! We wanted to create a unique experience filled with choices and opportunities, and make sure that the world is open to you. You can unravel the story in any way you want and tackle the neighborhood and its residents in any order.
The branching storylines are filled with dark humor, and as the cartel looms over you throughout the game, they’ll be needing some favors. Turning to a life of crime is one way to go, helping the Mob with their schemes and outright robbing the entire village blind — but it won’t come without consequences. Some bad deeds have widespread effects, reminding you of your actions and the people they involve. Be careful how far into the dark you step!
If a life of crime isn’t for you, working hard is a totally viable option too. Flipping burgers, running errands and stepping around the cartel while looking after your family is all doable. The world is your oyster, and the decisions you make have an impact on how the story progresses for you. Keep your family happy, your bills paid and your head above water however you want!
A living, breathing world… but for how long?
Throughout the game, the world in Family Man feels alive with a whole cast of NPCs living their everyday lives, ready for you to help (or destroy). Farmers, baristas, policemen, internet sensations… the world is always moving, featuring recurring characters to make friends with and quests to connect them together. Your actions have a lasting impact on this world and can be felt throughout, leading to unique gameplay moments from playthrough to playthrough.
On top of all that, you’ll also need to look after your family. Your partner (wife or husband, your choice!) and son rely on you to pay the bills and help them day to day – the more you neglect them, the unhappier your home will become.
A land of opportunities
Your choices matter, especially with your life and your family on the line. We’re excited to see how your story plays out, and the decisions you make to keep your family safe — we think you’ll have plenty to talk about with other players as you discover storylines that alter your world and change the way you play throughout.
We’re excited to tell you more about the world of Family Man, but we figure we ought to keep some secrets before launch — which we’re hoping to talk about soon!
