Well hello there, little one. Welcome back to the world of Little Nightmares. If you haven’t been here before, please allow us to introduce you.
Little Nightmares is a charming horror video game series that has been terrifying Visitors since 2017. In each game, a child protagonist must make their way through a different part of the Nowhere, a twisted reflection of the real world based on the darkest, ugliest human desires and impulses. It is a place inhabited by grotesque Residents – children do not belong there.
Under these hostile conditions, our little protagonists must solve puzzles to open tiny paths through the world, hide from monstrous adults who will destroy them on sight, and resist smaller threats who stand in their way.
In the upcoming Little Nightmares III, we’ll be following the story of Low and Alone, two kids who have been stuck in the Nowhere for a long time. They are trapped in an area known as the Spiral, traveling through mirrors in search of what Low believes is a way out of the Nowhere, back to a world where they’ll finally be free from this endless nightmare.
One area they’ll be exploring is the mysterious and unpleasant Carnevale, which we’re revealing for the first time today.
This frightful funfair is packed with attractions manned by child-sized Puppets, wooden creatures with a life of their own, unattached to visible strings or manipulative hands. Don’t try to get friendly with these marionette mascots, though. They are only interested in catering to the Herd, and they will happily tear up your tickets if you get too close.
Speaking of the Herd, these thundering fellows are the Puppets’ focus. The Herd trundles endlessly through the Carnevale, plodding from stall to stall in search of distraction and entertainment while chowing down on candy and stale popcorn. They may even become the entertainment from time to time, as the Puppets don’t much care about the wellbeing of their customers, only that they are kept busy. When someone goes missing, few would care to notice.
As Low and Alone navigate this rainy boardwalk, they’ll have to stay out of sight as much as they can; the Herd is always looking for a new bit of fun to snatch up and gobble down. Even if they try to hide under the floorboards, they might not always be safe! And should they run into Puppets, they’ll need to work together using Low’s bow and Alone’s wrench to knock their block off before they can pounce.
With all of the activity going on in this grim circus, it seems like there must be a ringmaster somewhere, but who? When Low and Alone sneak on to a rickety rollercoaster, it may take them somewhere closer to the answer to that question or, better still, their next mirror…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fatebrings fast-paced, roguelike action to your console, featuring chaotic co-op gameplay, powerful power-ups, and a cast of iconic characters. Whether you’re jumping in solo or teaming up with friends, we’ve put together some tips to help you get the most out of your first runs and beyond.
From character selection to upgrade strategies, here’s everything you need to know to start strong in the streets (and sewers) of New York City.
One of the best parts of Splintered Fate is its cast of playable characters. Each Turtle—and Casey Jones—brings their own combat style and strategic advantages to the fight. Not sure who to pick first? Here’s a quick breakdown:
Leonardo: The oldest brother and Leader of the Turtles. Leo is a balanced fighter with fast, reliable attacks and a focus on getting into and out of combat swiftly. Great for beginners.
Raphael: A hot head with a fiery temper. Raph is a heavy hitter who shines in one-on-one combat. His abilities pair well with critical damage upgrades.
Michelangelo: The soul of the gang that keeps them going through the toughest of times. Mikey is a crowd-control specialist. His fast nunchuck attacks and AoE damage work great with status effects like Ooze.
Donatello: The brains of the team. Donny is the toughest Turtle in the team and excels at manipulating the battlefield through the use of tools.
Casey Jones: The newest addition, Casey’s puck attack is the first true ranged attack in the game. He’s a brute of a fighter with a powerful melee combo and the ability to pick off groups of enemies at a distance with his hockey puck.
Each character has powerful synergies depending on your chosen upgrades—don’t be afraid to experiment!
Story Mode: Kick Back and Enjoy the Ride
Not every player is here for high-stakes roguelike chaos. If you’re looking for a more relaxed experience, Story Mode is a great way to enjoy Splintered Fate‘s narrative at your own pace. With reduced difficulty, it’s perfect for soaking in the atmosphere—or playing alongside younger fans.
Dash Like Your Life Depends on It (Because It Does)
One of the earliest game-changers you’ll unlock is the Dragon Coin Station, where you can invest the Dragon Coins you’ve collected to gain permanent upgrades. We strongly recommend prioritizing getting that first extra dash.
Dash is your best friend in Splintered Fate—it lets you avoid damage, reposition quickly, and escape danger. Upgrading your dash ability early will help you survive longer, especially in tougher rooms or boss encounters.
Upgrade Smart: Damage, Health, and… Pizza?
When it comes to Dragon upgrades, damage and health boosts are always solid picks. But don’t sleep on other options! Abilities like “Slice of Life” can be a game-saver, especially when you’re deep into a run and low on health having an enemy drop a slice of health boosting pizza is delicious!
Look out for upgrades that complement your chosen Turtle’s strengths. As you progress through the game upgrades can be unlocked that boost each Turtles area of focus. If you’re new to the game, consider picking passives that boost survivability early on and add complexity as you gain confidence.
Master the Power Combos
Each run offers you new Turtle powers—some of which can evolve into legendary powers if combined correctly. Pay close attention to the synergy between the turtle powers, Fire, Water, Ooze, Utrom, Ninja and Astral.
Here’s a hint: stacking turtle powers of the same element will unlock more powerful abilities but the most powerful abilities require combining two elements, like Fire and Water. You never know when your next reward could turn a good run into a legendary one.
Boost Your Build: Tools, Inspirations and Masteries
Beyond the Turtle powers, you’ll find tools (active abilities), inspirations (passive character buffs), and character-specific masteries. Here’s how to get the most out of them:
Tools are great for controlling the flow of battle but take a while to charge back up—use them strategically.
Inspirations are unique to each Turtle, each starting every run with their two inspirations defining their unique play style. Sometimes though you can be rewarded with the inspiration of another turtle, leading to game changing builds.
Masteries can be found during runs and boost the playstyle of your chosen Turtle. Many masteries are unique to each turtle and can change up how they are played.
Don’t Ignore Artifacts
Artifacts are powerful items that can give you major advantages during your run but you need to earn them. Some grant passive bonuses, while others trigger effects in battle. Unlocking and equipping them can make a huge difference, especially in later levels or co-op play.
You’ll earn artifacts as you progress through the game. Keep them in your sight—they’re worth the effort.
Shell Up and Dive In
Whether you’re a TMNT superfan or a newcomer to the franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate offers something for everyone: deep progression, tight combat, couch co-op, and nostalgic charm. With these tips in your arsenal, you’ll be ready to face whatever Shredder throws your way.

“As we’ve seen with our other cosmetic crossovers and our Tall Tales, our teams are always looking for opportunities to bring other worlds into Sea of Thieves and put a unique spin on them, no matter where the inspiration comes from. Even though it might not seem like an obvious choice, Destiny’s classes and co-operative play presented a ‘crew-like’ bond that we thought was a great fit, along with some striking iconography, vivid art style and a sense of being mythical in tone and scope.”
Handily, there were already plenty of accomplished Guardians at Rare with a deep understanding of the Destiny universe, though the team completed more than their fair share of Quests while gathering ideas. If you want a sense of how much the team at Rare wanted to make this happen, just know that they’ve been working with Bungie on this idea since 2023!
Once plans were agreed, the next step in making the Lightbearer collection a reality was to create concept pieces for ship sets, weapons and clothing. Andria Warren, Director of Creative Operations at Rare, oversaw their development.
“Working with Bungie to bring Destiny 2 into Sea of Thieves was a creatively rich and deeply collaborative process. From the earliest concept sketches to finalising designs that honoured both universes, every step challenged us to think differently. We explored how iconic Destiny elements could be reimagined through a Sea of Thieves lens, translating tone, visual language, and character into something that felt fresh but unmistakably faithful. It pushed our teams creatively in the best possible way, and the result is something we’re truly proud of!”
Working alongside the Destiny team to iterate and refine the various Lightbearer items culminated in one of Sea of Thieves’ most comprehensive collections. “Partnerships like this can take a lot longer than people realise to make happen,” Park muses, “But when you see the results it really does showcase the talent and hard work of everyone involved. We’re sure the Lightbearer items will be a big hit with Destiny fans old and new, and can’t wait to see people making creative use of them as they go about their adventures. Good luck, Guardians!”

IGN kicked off its annual Fan Fest event today with an exciting new ID@Xbox Showcase, bringing world premieres, Game Pass announcements, release dates, new gameplay and much more from the incredible slate of indie developers working on games for Xbox platforms right now.
From action-roguelikes, to card games, to cozy adventures, to game genres that don’t even have a name yet, this Showcase revealed how wild and wonderful the indie space can be – it’s a celebration of what’s next for gaming.

33 Immortals – Launching March 18
We first saw 33 Immortals during 2023’s Xbox Game Showcase, and this long-awaited co-op action roguelike will arrive on March 18. Pitting up to 33 players against hordes of monsters and gigantic bosses, 33 Immortals captures the joy of MMO raids in a more ‘pick up and play’ context. The release date trailer showed us some of its dark cartoon looks, frenetic gameplay, and huge party sizes.
Balatro – Out Today on Game Pass!
This award-winning roguelike poker sensation gets a surprise Game Pass release today, but that was far from the only announcement we got. Balatro is also headed to Windows PC, and we got the fourth Friends of Jimbo collaboration update, bringing themed cards based on (deep breath) Fallout, Assassin’s Creed, Civilization VII, Rust, Slay the Princess, Bugsnax, Dead By Daylight, and YouTube channel Critical Role.
Blue Prince – Launching With Game Pass on April 10
A truly unique experience, Blue Prince combines exploration, puzzles, mapmaking, and card game systems to create a game we’ve truly never seen before. Solve the mysteries of Mount Holly manor by literally piecing its rooms together, and solving mysteries hidden throughout the house you build as a result. Discover its secrets when the game launches on April 10, coming to Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and launching day one with Game Pass.
Buckshot Roulette – Coming to Xbox and Game Pass
This haunting experience makes “gambling with your life” a very literal concept, and has already captivated and horrified PC players. Transforming the (already unpleasant) game of Russian Roulette by introducing a shotgun and some dastardly extra rules, this is a true tabletop strategy game with a grim twist. In today’s show, we learned that Buckshot Roulette is on its way to Xbox and Game Pass – prepare yourself.
Descenders Next – Launching April 9
This sequel to the downhill biking Game Pass sensation, Descenders Next broadens its scope to include multiple ways to go really, really fast down a mountain. Promising to be the ultimate extreme sports game, tackle multiple biomes on snowboards and mountainboards when it arrives on April 9 with Game Pass.
Echo Weaver – Coming to Xbox and Game Pass
This beautifully rendered “Metroidbrainia” draws from classic adventure platformers and the likes of Outer Wilds to create a time looping world where knowledge is your greatest weapon. The trailer offered clues as to how, across multiple loops, you’ll piece together the story and shape of a collapsed utopia and escape the temporal prison you’re trapped within. Echo Weaver is coming to Xbox, with Game Pass.
Herdling – Coming to Xbox and Windows PC
Developer Okomotive created two of the most exciting, mechanic-packed adventures of recent years in the form of Far: Lone Sails and Far: Changing Tides, so you can count us very excited for their first fully 3D outing, Herdling. In a new trailer, we saw much more of how you’ll guide a herd of curious cattle across a ruined world (and the dangers you’ll face along the way) – and learned that it’ll be coming to Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC when it launches this summer.
Hotel Barcelona – Launching 2025
This long awaited collaboration between legendary designers Suda51 and Swery is almost upon us. This 2.5D action-platformer pits you against the horror-inspired denizens of the titular hotel, and the new trailer dives deeper into the Slasher Phantom, a brutal game mechanic that summons echoes of the player’s past runs to aid them in battle. We also saw some of the game’s arsenal of deadly weapons and abilities, each designed to turn the tide of battle in the most gruesome ways possible.
Jump Ship – Coming to Xbox Game Preview
Developed by Hazelight (It Takes Two) and Mojang (Minecraft) alumni, this 1-4 player FPS puts you in charge of a spaceship and asks you to take on on-foot combat sections, seamlessly transitioning between the two. The new trailer gives us a taste of how you’ll have to work together to survive, not to mention its tongue-in-cheek approach to bombastic action – plus we learned that it’ll be available in early access through Xbox Game Preview this summer.
Lies of P: Overture – New Story Trailer
We got a closer look at the newly announced DLC for acclaimed Soulslike, Lies of P. The Overture expansion will see Geppetto’s Puppet encounter a mysterious artifact that transports him back in time to the world of Krat in its final days of grandeur. The trailer gives us a melancholy look at Lea, the Legendary Stalker, on her relentless path of vengeance.
The Lonesome Guild – World Premiere
We got a world-first look at the new game from Don’t Nod (Life Is Strange, Jusant), a whimsical action-RPG full of heart, battles, and bonds that change everything. Embark on a heroic adventure as Ghost, a spirit who wakes to find they hold no memories. Build your dream team, switch seamlessly between them to solve puzzles and fight your way through the collapsing world of Etere. The Lonesome Guild arrives for Xbox Series X|S this fall.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault – Coming to Game Pass
The sequel to the beloved action-RPG that answers the question, “where do RPG merchants get their stock”, Moonlighter 2 takes on a brand new full-3D, isometric look – offering new challenges and rewards as a result. The new trailer shows both your new hometown and shop, and the adventures in store as you adventure to keep your stock flowing. Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Game Pass in 2025.
Outbound – Coming to Xbox in 2026
This gorgeous open-world exploration game sets you off with an empty camper van and sees you turn it into the home of your dreams – alone or together with your friends. Build and explore at your own pace. Scavenge materials, craft, and build in and on top of your vehicle with modular parts. Advance in technology and efficiently use energy to power your home, while adjusting your playstyle to adapt to new landscapes and changing environmental conditions. Outbound is coming to Xbox Series X|S in 2026.
Ratatan – Coming to Xbox
A new game from the creators of the beloved Patapon, Ratatan is a rhythm strategy roguelike that sees you taking increasingly huge groups of minions through a world in which you need to literally conduct your attacks – hit the rhythm and you’ll stay alive. Mix in up to four-player co-op, and you can have over 100 characters onscreen in a single fight. Ratatan comes to Xbox this year.
Revenge of the Savage Planet – Coming to Game Pass on May 8
We got a new look at this co-op exploration adventure by way of an in-universe commercial for the Kindred Catalog – Revenge of the Savage Planet features dozens of fresh and funny upgrades such as the goo cannon, which allows players to create slippery, sticky or flammable surfaces in the world! Or a whip to keep creatures from eating your face! Or a grapple to swing from point to point! Or a lasso to capture creatures and send them back to your Habitat for research. So many tools, so many options, so many ways to play. We don’t have long to wait to try all of this out – Revenge of the Savage Planet arrives for Xbox on May 8, and will be available day one with Game Pass.
Rockbeasts – World Premiere
We got another world-first look at Rockbeasts, a “rock and roll band manager” game in which you playthe manager of a legendary ‘90s band (who just happen to be animals). Lead a band of misfits on a roller-coaster ride to stardom in the age of MTV, rock anthems, and bad haircuts. Rockbeasts is a story-driven, role-playing management game that puts you in the shoes of a manager of an up-and-coming rock band. Your job – take them to the top. It arrives for Xbox Series X|S this year.
Tanuki: Pon’s Summer – Coming to Game Pass
We got another look at this adorable courier life sim after its debut at Tokyo Game Show. The new trailer showed us how we’ll be performing stunt-filled delivery missions alongside relaxing in its bucolic town – from baseball, to sumo practice, to drumming. Tanuki: Pon’s Summer arrives in late 2025, and it’s coming to Game Pass.
Tempopo – Coming to Game Pass on April 17
The newest title from the award-winning team behind Unpacking, Tempopo is a puzzle adventure bursting with music. Playing as Hana, you enter a fantasy world in which you need to conduct the titular Tempopo creatures to solve puzzles scattered across the world’s sky islands – before heading back home and cultivating her garden. The new trailer showed off new gameplay, and revealed that the game will come to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on April 17, and will launch into Game Pass day one.
Tron: Catalyst – Launching June 17
From Disney, publisher BigFan, and the development team at Bithell Games, the new trailer for Tron: Catalyst gave us a closer look at our game’s protagonist, Exo, who is fighting for her survival in the arena. An explosive event has gifted Exo the ability to perceive the glitch tearing apart her home, the Arq Grid, and given her the unique ability to loop time itself. This thrilling isometric action our game offers combat, conversation, and Light Cycle exploration in the city of Vertical Slice. Tron: Catalyst comes to Xbox Series X|S on June 17.
Ultimate Sheep Racoon – Coming to Game Pass
This chaotic side-scrolling, bike riding party game got a new trailer announcing that it’ll come to Game Pass upon release – and then we saw the IGN team playing the game’s 8-player mode. They showed off a variety of different blocks that can hinder your movement or launch you ahead of the competition, two different levels with varying difficulty, and showed how the different power-ups can really make a difference in the race.
Wax Heads – Launching Summer 2026
We got a new look at this slice-of-life narrative game set around running a struggling record store. Showing off its gorgeous hand-drawn looks, the trailer shows more of how you’ll chat to quirky customers with unique tastes, explore a handcrafted record collection, fall in love with bands (and their drama!), or just slack off with your colleagues – whatever gets everyone’s groove back! Wax Heads will come to Xbox Series X|S in summer 2026.
Woodo – Coming to Xbox
This cozy, story-driven game showed off more of its beautiful art style and pieced-together 3D puzzles. The trailer revealed how you’ll build the story by literally building the world, pulling 3D objects from your menus to fill a scene, revealing more of the tale of main characters Foxy and Ben as you go. Woodo is on its way to Xbox Series X|S.

A major expansion to The Hunter’s Call sends pirates in pursuit of new victories!
The Sea of Thieves has always been a wild, untamed sanctuary for pirates, but in Season 15 the stakes across these scattered islands and open waters are being raised once again! The latest free Seasonal update sees The Hunter’s Call Trading Company vastly expanding their offerings while two uniquely powerful Megalodons join the fray, with further hunt-related excitement set to follow in the months ahead. Here’s what you can expect from Season 15 of Sea of Thieves…
The Hunter’s Call Grows
Season 15 is all about exploring the wilder side of life on the Sea of Thieves, and who better to lead the charge than The Hunter’s Call? This Trading Company, first introduced with our original Anniversary Update in 2019, sets itself apart from the others with a focus on fishing and, as the name would imply, hunting. Until now, pirates have been able to climb to rank 50 by delivering fish and meat to The Hunter’s Call representatives at Seaposts or, more recently, to the Sovereigns on their behalf.
From Season 15, however, The Hunter’s Call undergoes a major expansion. First and foremost, it’s being brought in line with other Trading Companies in terms of ranking prospects, with the reputation cap being raised to 100 and five levels of Distinction added. This means you can continue to progress with the Company well beyond what was previously possible, unlocking themed cosmetics as you go.
You can also choose to raise a Hunter’s Call Emissary Flag for the first time, enabling increased rewards for treasure handed in – but at the cost of making yourself a target for any Reapers lying in wait nearby! At the same time, new Fishing and Raid Voyages provide opportunities to set out in search of Company-specific loot, including exotic Treasured Fish hauled up from the depths and ready to make you rich…
Megalodon Mutations
Growing alongside The Hunter’s Call are the new dangers introduced to the seas, most notably two terrifying Ancient Megalodons that have crossed over from the Sea of the Damned, ready to unleash carnage with abilities that make them substantially more dangerous than any everyday shark.
The Feared Redmaw has risen from the boiling depths, wreathed in flame and wielding a devastating explosive attack to torch any ship that drifts a little too close. Keep your water barrel full to deal with fires breaking out or you’ll quickly find yourself in the hot seat! Meanwhile, the armour-plated Barnacled Dread torments sailors with Eel-ectric invasions, spawning these formidable Ocean Crawlers onto the decks of attacking ships. Repel boarders while using your cannons to chip away at the Megalodon’s coral armour until you can strike the beast directly!
These fearsome monsters offer tantalising loot if you manage to best them, but finding them isn’t always easy. In this, Hunter’s Call Emissaries have the advantage: ships flying a Grade 5 Emissary Flag will be able to track Ancient Megalodon locations using their Map Table and sail headlong into battle…

With a new Season, as always, comes 100 new levels of Renown to be earned and all the associated rewards! You can work towards earning new themed cosmetics such as Hungering One Hunter’s clothing, as well as a hoard of gold, Doubloons and Ancient Coins – while purchasing a Plunder Pass also lets you unlock the enigmatic Dynasty of the Deep collection and an extra 750 Ancient Coins.
The Pirate Emporium shopkeepers also debut the fabulous Rococo set this month, inviting you to indulge in the finest historical fashion. Der Zusammenhang zwischen Gaming und mentalem Wohlbefinden wird zunehmend auch von der Wissenschaft untersucht. Eine kürzlich von der Universität Oxford in Zusammenarbeit mit dem PowerWash Simulator durchgeführte Studie ergab, dass sich 72 Prozent der befragten Spieler*innen nach dem Ende ihrer Spielesession besser fühlen. Über 67.000 Spielesitzungen in 39 Ländern zeigten eine konstante Steigerung des Wohlbefindens innerhalb der ersten 15 Spielminuten. Diese Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass das kurzzeitige Spielen ein sinnvolles Mittel sein kann, um die Stimmung positiv zu beeinflussen. Videospiele sind demnach weit mehr als Unterhaltung. Sie sind eine potenziell wichtige Ressource zur Unterstützung der psychischen Gesundheit.
Während Self Care in den vergangenen Jahren zu einem wichtigen Thema in den sozialen Medien, am Arbeitsplatz und in der Schule geworden ist, entwickeln sich Videospiele zu einer Brücke, die Menschen mit unterschiedlichen Hintergründen verbindet. Psychonauts 2: Aufschlussreiche Erkenntnisse über mentales Wohlbefinden
In Psychonauts nutzt Raz seine übernatürlichen Kräfte, um in die Köpfe der Menschen einzutauchen. Hier lernt er verschiedene Welten kennen, die die Gedanken und Persönlichkeiten der Menschen widerspiegeln. So kann eine lebhafte Person, die gerne tanzt, einen Geist voller lebendiger Farben und Musik haben, während eine eher stoische Person einen Geist besitzt, der organisierter aufgebaut ist.
Das Spiel ist zwar lustig und humorvoll, doch es reißt auch Themen der psychischen Gesundheit an – manchmal durch eine fantastische Linse… Doch oft erforscht es die inneren Kämpfe der Charaktere auf eine Weise, die sich realistischer anfühlt. Das kam bei vielen Spieler*innen gut an und die Fans haben oft davon gesprochen, dass sie sich in bestimmten Charakteren selbst wiedererkannten. So konnten sie Gefühle ausdrücken, die sie zuvor nicht geäußert hatten.
Als wir viele Jahre später die Fortsetzung entwickelten, hatte sich die Welt verändert und damit auch unser eigenes Bewusstsein. Wir wussten, dass wir uns der psychischen Gesundheit sorgfältiger nähern mussten und legten daher einige Leitprinzipien fest. Zum Beispiel: Raz bittet immer um Erlaubnis, bevor er in die Psyche der Menschen blickt, außer in Notfällen. Er hilft jeder Figur, sich ihren inneren Dämonen zu stellen und emotionalen Ballast loszuwerden, doch er „heilt“ sie nicht – psychische Probleme bedeuten nicht, dass eine Person kaputt ist und sie machen sicherlich niemanden zum „Bösewicht“.
Wir sehen die Entwicklung von Spielen unter Berücksichtigung der psychischen Gesundheit als eine Form der Zugänglichkeit. Wir möchten, dass unser Spiel so viele Menschen wie möglich anspricht, ohne dass sich jemand ausgeschlossen fühlt, weil er oder sie zum Gespött gemacht wird. Wir möchten, dass alle Spieler*innen die Erfahrung genießen und sich von Charakteren unterstützt fühlen, die komplex und nachvollziehbar sind und – was am wichtigsten ist – Teil einer Geschichte über Heilung und Empathie sind.

Mit Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice erzählt Ninja Theory die Geschichte einer keltischen Kriegerin, die an einer Psychose leidet. Senuas einzigartige Perspektive wurde mithilfe von Professor Paul Fletcher von der University of Cambridge und Menschen mit Psychose-Erfahrungen zum Leben erweckt. Für die kürzlich erschienene Fortsetzung Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II hat sich Ninja Theory erneut mit diesen wichtigen Mitarbeiter*innen zusammengetan, um sicherzustellen, dass Senuas Erfahrungen wahrheitsgetreu dargestellt werden. Diese Zusammenarbeit führte auch zu Hellblade: A Journey of the Mind, einer Live-Konferenz in Cambridge, bei der die Perspektiven derjenigen, die unter der Stigmatisierung der Krankheit leiden, sowie derjenigen, die sie erforschen und behandeln, vorgestellt wurden. Er wird durch die Forschung und die Erfahrungen unzähliger Spieler*innen gestützt. Im Microsoft Store gibt es eine Vielzahl von Spielen, die das geistige Wohlbefinden fördern – zum Beispiel, indem sie Traurigkeit und Angst lindern und kognitive Fähigkeiten unterstützen. Xbox hat sich mit der Child’s Play Charity zusammengetan, einer Organisation, die sich dafür einsetzt, das Leben von Patient*innen in Kinderkliniken durch therapeutische Spiele und Technologien zu verbessern. Gemeinsam möchten wir Spiele finden, die vor diesem Hintergrund eine bedeutende Wirkung haben.
Die Liste enthält herausragende Titel wie PowerWash Simulator, Sonic Mania und RiME. Jedes dieser Spiele bietet Erlebnisse, die das psychische Wohlbefinden der Spieler*innen fördern. Wie fühlt es sich an, dass Child’s Play Charity Sonic Mania als Spiel würdigt, das Kindern dabei hilft, mit ihrer Traurigkeit umzugehen?
„Ich freue mich sehr, dass Sonic Mania als Unterhaltungsspiel anerkannt wird, das Kindern auf der ganzen Welt dabei hilft, mit Traurigkeit, Schmerz oder sogar Langeweile umzugehen“, sagt Takashi Iizuka. „Die Sonic-Serie liefert ein unvergessliches Erlebnis voller bunter Grafiken, schöner Musik und einem großartigen Abenteuer, das Menschen jeden Alters unterhält.“

Schon bald können die Spieler*innen das Encore DLC Pack erkunden, das Mighty, das Gürteltier und Ray, das fliegende Eichhörnchen mit sich bringt. Außerdem erhält das Sonic-Franchise mit Sonic Superstars und dem mit Spannung erwarteten Film Sonic the Hedgehog 3 spannende Erweiterungen.
Was das Team von Evening Star als Nächstes vorhat, verrät Design Director Brad Flick: „Derzeit haben wir ein paar Eisen im Feuer, aber noch nichts, was wir konkret ankündigen können! Wie fühlt man sich, wenn man sieht, dass der PowerWash Simulator Kindern hilft, mit kognitiven Beeinträchtigungen umzugehen?
„Das ist wirklich etwas Besonderes. Zu wissen, dass unser Spiel Kindern auf sinnvolle Weise hilft, bestärkt uns darin, es weiter zu verbessern und zu erweitern”, sagt das Team hinter dem Spiel. „Wir haben immer versucht, ein entspannendes und befriedigendes Erlebnis zu schaffen, und es ist wunderbar zu sehen, dass von diesen Vorzügen auch Kinder in therapeutischen Kontexten profitieren.“
Haben ihr die therapeutische Wirkung des Spiels während der Entwicklung vorausgesehen?
„Unser Ziel war es, ein erfüllendes Erlebnis zu schaffen, doch es war eine angenehme Überraschung, den therapeutischen Ansatz des Gameplays zu erkennen. Dem Schmutz beim Verschwinden zuzusehen und unberührte Räume zu schaffen, ist für viele Spieler*innen eine beruhigende Tätigkeit. Indem wir uns auf dieses befriedigende Gameplay konzentriert haben, haben wir ungewollt einen therapeutischen Raum geschaffen, auf den wir unglaublich stolz sind.“
Das Team konnte zwar keine Einzelheiten nennen, bestätigte aber, dass aufregende Updates für den PowerWash Simulator in Planung sind, die den Spiele*innen noch mehr „schmutzige Therapie“ versprechen.

Im Rahmen der Mental Wellness Awareness hat Xbox den Künstler Steve Wade damit beauftragt, das Xbox-Logo neu zu gestalten. Steve erzählt, dass er als Jugendlicher mit seiner psychischen Gesundheit zu kämpfen hatte. Es fiel ihm schwer, seine Gefühle und Gedanken mitzuteilen. Sowohl das Gaming als auch die Kunst boten ihm Wege, um Stress zu bewältigen und sich auszudrücken. Oder um es in Steves Worten zu sagen: „Durch das Spielen konnte ich für ein paar Stunden am Tag dem entkommen, was in meinem Kopf vorging. Ich verlor mich in einer Spielwelt, in der ich mich für eine Weile frei von Stress, Ängsten und Sorgen fühlen konnte.“ Steve genoss es, dass er durch das Spielen mehr Freiheit hatte, ein Gespräch mit einer anderen Person auf eine für ihn angenehmere Weise zu beginnen.
Steve setzte das Xbox-Logo in einem traumähnlichen Rahmen, in dem es von einer Planetenlandschaft mit einem von Starfield inspirierten Raumschiff umgeben ist. Steve ließ sich von The Frontier inspirieren, dem ersten Raumschiff, das die Spieler*innen in Starfield steuern. Ihm selbst hat das Spiel stets einen Ort geboten, an dem er zur Ruhe kommen konnte. „Das Kunstwerk, das ich geschaffen habe, wurde vom positiven Einfluss des Gamings auf die mentale Gesundheit inspiriert“, sagt Steve. „Spielen fühlt sich so an, als würde man durch ein Portal in eine brandneue Welt voller Möglichkeiten eintreten. Man kann werden, wer immer man sein möchte, ohne sich Gedanken darüber zu machen, was andere von einem denken. Du kannst du selbst sein und Dich in einer Spielwelt frei fühlen.“
Xbox + Take This: Bewusstsein für Stereotypen im Bereich psychische Gesundheit schaffen
Um Stereotypen über psychische Erkrankungen in Spielen zu bekämpfen, hat sich Xbox mit der gemeinnützigen Organisation Take This zusammengetan, die sich als Branchenexpert*innen für eine glaubwürdige und integrative Darstellung psychischer Erkrankungen in Spielen einsetzt. Gemeinsam entwickeln die beiden Partner ein individuelles Workshop-Training für die Xbox Game Studios, um das Bewusstsein für psychische Erkrankungen zu schärfen. So können unsere Entwickler*innen bei der Gestaltung von Spielen, die Menschen mit psychischen Erkrankungen einbeziehen und repräsentieren, eine Vorreiterrolle übernehmen.

In Ravenswatch, you play as heroes inspired by old folk tales and legends, from Little Red Riding Hood to Sun Wukong. In each play session, you’ll embody these charismatic heroes and reveal their stories, run after run. You’ll explore open maps inspired by enchanted forests, One Thousand and One Nights, and Arthurian legend, filled with activities and dark foes. And along the way, help the inhabitants of the world of Reverie you come across! The Three Little Pigs need extra hands to build their houses, while Sinbad the Sailor finds himself in a tough spot and might need rescuing. Complete their quests to earn valuable rewards that will aid you in future battles.

Meet the Ravenswatch
In Ravenswatch, players step into the shoes of fallen heroes drawn from timeless tales and legends, reimagined with a dark and devilish twist. Take Scarlet, our cursed version of Red Riding Hood, who transforms into a big bad wolf at night to hunt the Nightmares; or the Pied Piper, a musical tactician who commands swarms of rats in battle. From Beowulf wielding his mighty sword alongside his baby wyrm to Mélusine unleashing devastating magic water wisps, every hero offers a unique way to confront the Nightmares threatening Reverie!
At the start of your experience, you’ll have a choice between Scarlet, The Pied Piper, Beowulf, and Snow Queen. But nine playable characters are available in total! Unlock them during your adventures and learn about the rest of the team. Some secrets are best uncovered in the heat of a battle!
Who’s Fit for the Ravenswatch?
When choosing a new hero, we must be careful and select a character who will fit in with the rest of the cast. Heroes are the cornerstone of the game’s design and are the most essential part of the core gameplay.
In our approach, each playable character must be unique in how they are played, their physical appearance, and their personality. That’s why we have set imperatives to meet before considering adding a new hero to the Ravenswatch. Here are our four pillars:
Gameplay-oriented: First and foremost, the goal with each of our heroes is to create a unique feeling when playing them. Whether ranged, melee or an atypical gameplay style, no hero plays the same. When adding new characters to the cast, they must always bring something new and fresh to the table.
Worldwide notoriety: We are keen to add Heroes inspired by tales and legends from all over the world, but one of our imperatives is that they must be famous on a global scale. From our perspective, players will be more excited by a familiar figure than an unknown one. Additionally, we need to make it credible that they exist in the same universe. That’s why we tend to avoid stories that are too ancient, or too modern, with advanced technology.
Exciting backstory: The essence of what the tales tell is a wonderful source of inspiration for character and gameplay design. We often use defining moments of a story (such as Grandma being eaten by a Wolf) or a specific object (like Aladdin’s genie lamp) as the starting point when creating a new Ravenswatch hero. Twisting the original tale is what makes rediscovering a character so exciting.
Family photo: We love to see the cast posing next to each other, and there’s no greater feeling than to see the “family photo” of your creation in the end. Having a varied, diverse, and eclectic group of heroes is a priority!
