Why Two Point Museum Takes the Management Sim in a Whole New Direction – Play Today

    Reading Time: 8 minutes

For years, the Two Point series has taken players on delightfully eccentric journeys through the world of management sims. We’ve built busy hospitals, shaped the future of academia, and now, we’re setting our sights on a whole new challenge, and something rarely seen in the genre: museums!

Two Point Museum launches for Xbox Series X|S on March 4, but you can play from today by purchasing the digital Explorer Edition. Find out why we made the switch to a brand new kind of management sim and, if you want to jump in right now, stick around for some handy tips on what we think is the best game in the series so far.

Evolving the Two Point Formula with New Features

One of the biggest challenges – and thrills – of creating Two Point Museum was adapting our beloved Two Point formula to an entirely new setting. Unlike hospitals or universities, where the core gameplay revolves around treating patients or educating students, museums are all about curation. You will build and expand your own institutions, filling them with exhibits that range from ancient relics to futuristic wonders, and even a few… let’s say, “unexpected” surprises, like guest-eating plants.

    Two Point Museum Image

We’ve also introduced some exciting new layers of strategy to Two Point Museum, with the Expedition feature offering a whole new sense of adventure. As curator, you will be tasked with sending a team of (partially) trained experts on Expeditions to discover unique exhibits. You can find over 200 rare exhibits across multiple map locations across your home of Two Point County. Will they return with priceless fossils, cosmic relics, or a rapidly melting ice sculpture containing a caveman who may – or may not – make a run for it?

    Two Point Museum Image

In Two Point Museum you will explore five distinct museum locations, each with their own unique progression path, exotic relics and creatures to find. Discover unusual dinosaur bones in your Prehistory Museum, keep restless ghosts entertained in the Supernatural Museum, or journey to the far reaches of the Two Point universe to encounter aliens in your Space Museum. Venture beneath the waves to access aquatic marvels in the Marine Life Museum or unearth an abandoned lab and do science-ey stuff in your Science Museum. Oh, and don’t forget to look after that carnivorous plant in your Botany Museum! There is so much to explore and discover in Two Point County, meaning you will always have plenty to be getting on with.

    Guests Know Best

In Two Point Museum, guests really do know best. You will encounter 18 different visitor types, from science enthusiasts and goths, to meddling kids who love touching things they shouldn’t. You will need to think carefully about how you place your exhibits, which will affect the overall mood of your guests – everyone likes different stuff, you know! Sometimes that means providing an alien Cheese-Moonger with a specific cheese-related dish at the cafeteria, while at other times it’s finding a way to transform a goth into a vampire. Unravel evolving mysteries and unlock new tools in a bid to create your own museum empire and offer the ultimate guest experience.

Running a museum isn’t all serious business – there’s plenty of room for creativity. Want to mix prehistoric fossils with alien artifacts? Go for it! Just don’t be surprised if the results are… unusual. Two Point Museum gives you more creative freedom than ever before, letting you customise everything – from floor tiles and wall coverings to staff uniforms and exhibit names.

    Tips for Future Curators

To help players make the most of their museum experience, here are a few handy tips from us:

    • Plan your layout wisely: Use interior walls to create themed sections and guide guests along optimal routes. Nobody wants to find the cafeteria next to a cursed sarcophagus.
    • Keep the guests happy: Visitors expect beautifully decorated exhibition spaces, cleanliness, snacks, a giftshop and plenty of restrooms. You can attract specific guest types via marketing campaigns, check in on their experience and cater to their whims to maximise success, happiness and of course….revenue!
    • Train your staff: Experts can gain new skills over time – investing in training can mean the difference between a well-run museum and total exhibit catastrophe.
    • Security challenges: Heists aren’t just for movies! Thieves will try to make off with your precious artifacts, so keep those security guards on high alert. Security chairs and cameras can be used in tandem to ensure boots on the ground, eyes in the sky, and, er, backsides on seats.

    What Players Can Expect

Two Point Museum takes everything fans love about our previous games – deep yet accessible management mechanics, charming humour, and a world filled with personality – and applies it to a brand new setting full of possibilities. Whether you’re designing the next great historical exhibition or uncovering long-lost artifacts, you’ll be shaping a museum that’s uniquely yours. So, are you ready to become a world-class curator?

Two Point Museum launches on Xbox Series X|S on Tuesday, March 4. Aspiring curators can play it right now with Advanced Access when ordering the digital Explorer Edition.

As Curator, the design and management of your expanding museum is in your hands! Send your team of partially trained Experts on Expeditions in search of rare and mostly well-preserved artefacts. When (and hopefully not if) your Experts return from their adventure, proudly display their fantastic finds in your museum.
You’ll unlock new locations as you decide where the next adventure takes you, and complete a sticker book to document your journey as a souvenir of your discoveries.
Your work doesn’t end there; Exhibit maintenance is crucial. While some Experts are gallivanting across Two Point County and beyond, you’re in charge of managing staff back home to ensure Exhibits and the museum stay in tip-top condition. If taking care of the carnivorous Chomper isn’t enough, there are also meddling thieves to watch out for. Thieves, and more frequently, children, are known for touching and grubbing up the displays, so make sure enough security is guarding your prized collection! DESIGN-OSAURS
Get creative to design your museum layout your way! You have decorative freedom, so design thematic areas to guide your guests’ visit. Splash paint and lay carpet as you lovingly arrange each prehistoric fern, potentially melting iceman, and dinosaur remains wherever you see fit.
Once you’ve created the perfect atmosphere, arrange guided tours with custom routes led by a charismatic Expert. Tours are a fantastic way to enrich your guests‘ experience. To keep guests enthused, showcase Exhibits with the highest Buzz – those that are top quality, provide ample info and beautiful decorations are likely to attract the most donations! GUEST-ERTAINMENT
Guests know best! The different types of guests who will frequent your museum may have different interests, but they do have some things in common… they expect the place to be kept clean, have plenty of refreshments, ample toilets, and a gift shop filled with goodies. And, of course, they need to be dazzled with knowledge of your Exhibits, which are kept well-maintained… or else you could make them sick. Two Point County will bring a variety of guests to your museum, and they all hope to discover their new favourite Exhibit… From dino fanatics and botany buffs to haunted horror seekers, you’ll need to cater to their personal preferences to meet their needs. By exceeding their expectations, you can keep them engaged, leading to longer visits, increased donations, and glowing reviews!

  • Build your university your way in Two Point Campus, coming to PS4 and PS5

Build your university your way in Two Point Campus, coming to PS4 and PS5

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

Well, it’s official! Two Point Campus is coming to PS4 & PS5 in 2022! The sequel to the beloved Two Point Hospital, Campus will task you with running your very own academic institution. But not your average academic institution – you see, this one has a Two Point twist!

Build your university your way in Two Point Campus, coming to PS4 and PS5

Gone are the stuffy subjects you remember from school, and in are extraordinary new courses like Knight School (ride horses!) and Gastronomy (bake giant pizzas!) – just a couple of the more grounded examples. You can be sure to expect a very non-traditional learning environment!

In Campus, you’ll be in charge of the whole shebang: able to build your own buildings (from frat houses to dormitories, from libraries to jousting arenas), customize the whole of your outdoor space with trees, pathways, picket fences and all kinds of other decorations.

We’re making the creative tools powerful and easy to use. So whether you’re a maestro or a beginner, you’ll find ways to create a campus that’s beautiful. Or if you’re a functional manager, you’ll be able to place buildings in seconds and worry about making it pretty later (or never, it’s up to you!)

You’ll also be responsible for making sure your students have the times of their lives – getting everything they need from the academic side of life, but also making sure they remember the fun times. Build student unions, set up gigs and events. But don’t forget, too much partying and those grades might start to drop… (this definitely didn’t happen to the author).

So will you build the ultimate party campus? Or will your students spend all their days in the library? Will your students form lasting relationships? Or will true chaos ensue? In Two Point Campus, you’re the boss!

We can’t wait to bring the game to players in 2022 – stay tuned for more information in the coming months.

  • In Two Point Campus für PS4 und PS5 baut ihr euch eure Traum-Uni

In Two Point Campus für PS4 und PS5 baut ihr euch eure Traum-Uni

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

  • Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition delivers a healthy dose of absurdity

Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition delivers a healthy dose of absurdity

    Reading Time: 5 minutes

The PS4 launch of the Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition is here, and we can’t wait for you to experience the huge amount of new content coming your way. This is by far the biggest release we’ve ever done, including four huge expansions, two massive item packs, and a free update with some of the most popular community requested features. There’s never been a better time to grab a stethoscope and start building your very own healthcare empire!

Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition delivers a healthy dose of absurdity

Head to the Pointy Mountains with local celebrity, Bartholomew F Yeti, in the Bigfoot expansion, blaze a sterilised trail through the tropical islands with Wiggy Silverbottom in Pebberley Island, or take on the latest and greatest challenges in the two newest expansions to hit consoles: Close Encounters and Off the Grid.

We know, we know… “Aliens in a hospital game?!”, “eco-warrior politicians in a hospital game!?” It’s probably fair to say you might have some questions before you jump in to solve mysterious alien conspiracies, or help the Mayor make the county green again… for the very first time. So why not grab a packet of the cheesiest gubbins you can find and put your feet up while some of our lovely designers, Harry Puttock and Sam Webley talk you through the new adventures that await you in our beloved little Two Point County.

    Close encounters

Harry Puttock: Alien conspiracies might sound a little “out there” for a hospital sim game, but we really wanted to go for something a little more fantastical and push the boat out, which is exactly what we did for Close Encounters. The basis of the idea came from our Creative Director, Gary Carr after watching far too many conspiracy TV shows on Roswell, Area 51 and the like.

Sam Webley: Close Encounters has three brand new areas: there’s Goldpan, a small town where rumours of a UFO crash landing began, Camouflage Falls, a town that doesn’t really exist, housing a massive military base, and Chasm 24, a secret government facility. The levels really do go from strange happenings to full-blown government cover-ups as you get deeper and deeper into this crazy conspiracy.

Harry:Throughout the DLC you’ll be encountering lots of different space-themed illnesses. My personal favourite being Lack of Humanity, where you’re actually turning these aliens into people so they can integrate with society in Two Point County. It’s quite a nice twist, because the DLC starts by exposing these aliens that are trying to infiltrate your hospitals, and by the end of it you’re helping them stay here rather than sending them home.

Sam: You can’t talk about illnesses in Close Encounters without mentioning Bowhine though. Patients with this illness have become unenamoured with being human, opting to spend their time in fields pretending to be cows. You need to treat them before they get abducted by aliens! I’m not saying you should purposely not treat them… but it’s pretty fun to watch a UFO snatch someone dressed up as a cow.

Harry: There are some really cool new gameplay mechanics in this DLC as well, like the Robo-Janitors. In Chasm 24 (the game’s 24th level, did anybody get that…?) you’ll need your Robo-Janitors to maintain big mechanical stabilisers that prevent earthquakes and other bad things from happening in your hospitals. A lot of sci-fi technology seems very impressive, but you don’t always get a great sense of what it does. Sure, it has lots of lights, and an enormous button, but what’s it for? The Robo-Janitors are high-tech, but also immensely practical. Every Robo-Janitor has a unique name. My favourite is Sweepy Leroux. The finest brooms-man in Two Point County.

Sam: Don’t forget the actual aliens themselves. Part of your mission in Goldpan is to find aliens trying to infiltrate your hospital. You might notice patients acting strangely, perhaps they’ve not gone to reception or maybe they’re rummaging through bins (because we all know real-life aliens do that… right?), or their cloaking device glitches a little bit. If you see anything like that, you’ll need to send the “patient” home to expose the alien hiding in plain sight. It might seem a little mean, but if they go unnoticed, it can start to mess with your hospitals.

    Off the Grid

In Two Point County, voter research has repeatedly suggested that the public’s number one concern is with the environment. To secure her place in office… ahem, we mean, to support the green-minded community, Two Point County’s ever-present mayor, Tabitha Windsock, founded the Department of Green Things. She recently discovered it pays to go green in this time of poor voter polling, so she goes on a campaign trail to tell the world she’ll provide healthcare for everyone participating in her initiative because frankly…the dead can’t vote.

Sam: The core idea for Off the Grid was environmentalism. The first level, Wanderoff, is almost like a big hippy-commune and focuses on health and wellbeing of staff, patients, and your hospital attractiveness to generate money. The second level, Old Newpoint, is a little town where people have opted for an older way of life, to the point where they’ll knock down old buildings and build newer ones to make them look older. In Old Newpoint you’ll grow your own food, which puts pressure on your hospital’s layout and size, as the food and water will require a lot of dedicated space in your hospitals. The final level, Windsock, is a giant eco-city that the Mayor has, very humbly, built using tax-payer’s money. Windsock City doesn’t rely on the usual means of power. Instead, you’ll need to build green energy machines to stay switched-on and self-sufficient. Each of your green energy machines, whether it’s a wind turbine, solar panel or hydro-dam, will increase the power capacity of the hospital.

Harry: I’m a big fan of the illnesses in Off the Grid, they’re all very earthy! A lot of camping and nature-based illnesses. I like Woodworms, where sufferers look like little wooden puppets, the cure for this is essentially being eaten and spat out by a giant whale. There’s Roadstool, Bodily Druids, Stumble Bum and my personal favourite, Chocolate Shorts. Forgive the expression, but I was sitting on Chocolate Shorts for about a year before managing to get it into the game.

Sam: It’s all about going green in Off the Grid. Ignoring that could lead to penalties. So, always remember to place lots of recycling bins, grow your own food in every level and place lots of greenery around the hospitals, otherwise you might find yourself losing money when an inspector comes your way!

We’re super excited for you to jump in and start building your very own healthcare empire, so what are you waiting for! The Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition is out today on PlayStation 4.

Scrub up, we’ll see you on the ward.
