New Banksy Artworks Keep Popping Up All Over New York City, And Here’s What People Found So Far

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Known for his satirical style and political remarks, Banksy never misses an opportunity to make a statement. Murals of this iconic graffiti artist have been popping up all around New York City for a while now, and 2018 is no exception.

His latest piece rests on an abandoned gas station, located in Midwood, Brooklyn. It portrays a man who appears to be a real estate developer, stock-lashing and driving away a group of people. Capitalism aside, Banksy continues to comment on political issues as well. Another popular mural he produced in 2018 addresses the imprisonment of Zehra Doğan. She was sentenced by a court in Turkey to two years and nine months in prison for painting an image of the destroyed Kurdish-majority city of Nusaybin, obliterated by the Turkish government forces.

Scroll down to check out the latest from Banksy and let us know in the comments if you think he’s still on point!

I made all the houses from recycled plywood and painted them using different techniques to make them blend in with their surroundings.

  • Someone In Berlin Is Turning Hateful Swastikas Into Works Of Art, And The Result Is Awesome

Someone In Berlin Is Turning Hateful Swastikas Into Works Of Art, And The Result Is Awesome

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Like the protestors in the 60’s putting flowers in the barrels of guns, some people know that the best way to fight against hate is with love, beauty and creativity.

Ibo Omari is one of those people. Through his NGO Die kulturellen Erben (The Cultural Heritage) he started Paintback, a campaign to turn hateful symbols and slogans on the streets into something fun and artistic.

Based in Berlin, Germany, the Paintback concept has so far covered up several swastikas around the streets of the city, as far-right groups in Germany begin to show signs of increased activity. Using simple designs and templates, the graffiti artists involved in Paintback hope to inspire others to respond to ugly hate messages in their cities, and make something beautiful out of them. Via a short video shared on social media, which went viral in Germany, the campaign has quickly spread to other cities in the country and beyond with others posting their own swastika alterations under the hashtag #Paintback.

Scroll down below to see some of the examples of Paintback at work, be inspired, and don’t forget to vote for your favourite!

Shenron is a magic dragon that appears to fulfill a wish when all seven Dragon Balls are reunited. And it seems like it just granted another one from one of the artists. “I’m a big fan of Dragon Ball, and it’s been my childhood dream that I just realized with Baby K,” said Blesea.

Someone Is ‘Vandalising’ Streets With Pixel Art, And The Result Is Awesome

    Reading Time: 11 minutes

Johan Karlgren, also known as Pappas Pärlor, is a Swedish artist who creates interactive street art that makes his surroundings a lot more fun. Johan’s works are inspired by his passion – old video games, and that’s why all his characters that invade the streets are pixelated.

Pappas Pärlor’s pixel art can be usually found on our everyday objects, such as traffic signs, pipes, sculptures, fences and hundreds more. They are wisely incorporated into the functions of those objects which gives them new meanings while mixed with art. Scroll down to see them for yourself!
