With the holidays right around the corner, many of us are in full shopping mode. And while it can be exciting to pick out festive holiday decor or gifts for loved ones, it can also get stressful when the costs start piling up: In fact, one in four holiday shoppers report feeling anxious about gifts and other holiday-related costs.

With its wide selection of apps, Google Play has you covered. Today, we’re highlighting 10 apps on Play that can relieve your holiday budget — and your stress.

    1. YNAB (You Need A Budget)

YNAB: Budgeting & Finance is a one-stop shop for taking control of your finances. With tools to organize bills, pay off debt and track your net worth, YNAB helps you reach your financial goals so you can get back to treating your loved ones (and yourself) this holiday season.

    2. Cleo

Cleo can help you (literally) start a dialogue about your finances. Ask Cleo anything about your spending and budget through an AI-powered chat interface, and get clear answers to help you track your bills and stay informed about your financial situation.

    3. NerdWallet

NerdWallet is a holistic finance app that keeps you smart when it comes to your long-term spending, net worth and credit score. In addition to analyzing month-to-month spending across all your accounts, NerdWallet provides insights into factors affecting your credit score so you have key financial information all in one place.

    4. Goodbudget

Goodbudget, formerly EEBA (the Easy Envelope Budget Aid), is an ideal choice for budgeting across devices. It syncs your expenses — whether purchases like holiday gifts or utilities like your internet bill — across platforms so you can easily track your spending from the web or the app, and share with anyone else you’re budgeting with.

    5. Honeydue

Honeydue is a finance app specifically designed for couples, helping partners track bills and bank balances while giving them insight into each other’s spending goals and habits.

    6. PocketGuard

PocketGuard makes it easy to stay on top of your money and always know what works (or doesn’t) for your budget. The app can analyze your accounts, automatically identify subscriptions and other transactions and send detailed reports to help you stay on track.

    7. RocketMoney

RocketMoney, formerly Truebill, helps you manage your subscriptions in one place and provides a clear picture of recurring payments, including those you may have forgotten about. With lower bills and higher savings, you can designate money toward things that matter, like holiday gifts for your loved ones.

    8. Wallet: Budget Expense Tracker

Wallet: Budget Expense Tracker is built with financial planning in mind, allowing you to track bills, automatically sync transactions with your primary bank and get valuable insights about spending via weekly reports. You can also share your budget with others to stay on top of household expenses. Wallet accounts for flexible budgets as well, which is especially handy during the holiday season when spending can be unpredictable.

    9. Productive – Habit tracker

We know that staying organized goes beyond budgeting during the holidays. Productive – Habit tracker is an easy-to-use app that helps you plan a routine, set reminders and customize your tasks for each day to create productive, long-term habits you can stick to. In addition to alleviating stress when it comes to spending money, it can also give you peace of mind on how you spend your time.

    10. Calm

Speaking of stress, Calm can help you manage the pressure that comes with holiday budgeting and make your wellbeing a priority. A popular sleep and relaxation app, Calm includes Sleep Stories narrated by celebrities, guided meditations, soothing soundscapes and more to help you reduce your anxiety and practice self-care.

Fast, simple checkout. Easy access to rewards and offers. One spot for purchases, passes, and payment methods. All of these are ways we’ve been working to make paying safer and easier for everyone, everywhere. And you can make the most of these features with the new Google Pay app for Android.

The app, which begins rolling out today, is just one part of everything we’ve got planned. We’re currently working on bringing Google Pay to all Google products, so whether you’re shopping on Chrome or with your Assistant, you’ll have a consistent checkout experience using the cards saved to your Google Account. We’re also working with partners online and in stores, so you’ll see Google Pay on sites, in apps, and at your favorite places around the world.

As we continue to expand to even more devices and services, the new app offers an exciting glimpse of what’s to come. Here’s a closer look.

    Helpful info while you shop

Google Pay’s new Home tab gives you the info you need, right when you need it. See your recent purchases, find nearby stores, enjoy easy access to rewards, and get helpful tips.

A new spot for your stuff

The Cards tab is an easy way to keep everything you need at checkout organized and at the ready. It’s where you’ll store your credit and debit cards, loyalty programs, offers, and even that stack of gift cards from last year’s birthday.

A faster way to pay your fare

Use Google Pay on transit in cities such as Kiev, London, and Portland (with more coming soon), and stop worrying about your pass once and for all. Now all you need at the turnstile is the device that’s already in your hand.

    Tap Success

    Google security and encryption

Like all Google products, Google Pay comes with strong security protections to safeguard your account and personal data from security threats. In other words, it’s got your back.

    All your favorite features

Longtime Android Pay fans, fear not: the features you love aren’t going away. You’ll still get all your bank’s perks and protections, plus an extra layer of security, since Google Pay doesn’t share your actual card number when you pay in stores. And those online payment forms that take forever to fill out? Just choose Google Pay at checkout and pay with a few quick clicks instead. Learn more at pay.google.com/about/

And more features are coming. If you live in the U.S. or the UK, you’ll be able to use it to send and request money within the next few months. In the meantime, the Wallet app is now called Google Pay Send, and we’re giving it a fresh coat of paint to go with the Google Pay brand.

Want to accept Google Pay for your app, site or business? If you’re a developer, you can work with our processor partners and find all the tools you need on our developer site. And if you’re a business owner building a site for yourself, we’ve partnered with Shopify to make integration even easier.

Whenever we launch Android Pay in a new market, we think about how to enable faster, easier checkout while taking into account the distinct payment habits of each place. Working with partners is a key part of creating a local experience.

A few weeks ago, we launched Android Pay in Ukraine. Today, it’s available in Czech Republic and Brazil, and soon it’ll be live in Slovakia, too. Here’s a look at how two different approaches simplify checkout in two unique parts of the world.

Leave your wallet at home in Central and Eastern Europe

Paying contactless isn’t new in Central and Eastern Europe–in fact, in many places it’s the norm. With Android Pay, we wanted to make it easier for locals to leave their wallets at home at places they know and love. Starting today in Czech Republic, you can pick up a loaf of traditional Šumava bread at your favorite bakery or an ice-cold Kofola at Albert using nothing but your phone.

Oleksandr Danylyuk, Ukraine’s Finance Minister, demonstrating Android Pay at the launch event

And in a region full of Android fans, we’re excited to see it’s already taking off! Ukraine’s Finance Minister Oleksandr Danylyuk was the country’s first person to try Android Pay when we launched on November 1, demonstrating how it works on the Kiev Metro.

Pay for pão de queijo with your phone in Brazil

On the other side of the globe in Brazil, contactless payments are just picking up speed. So we partnered with merchants like Ipiranga and Casa do Pão de Queijo to help us merge new experiences (like paying with your phone) with familiar ones (like buying groceries or Brigadeiros). Brazil is also the first Latin American country to get Android Pay, and we’re looking forward to helping contactless payments become part of people’s everyday routines.

If you use Android Pay today, you’re in for a surprise. Like our beloved animations of space explorers, Halloween haunts, and Wimbledon players in the past, five of our Android bots have channeled their superpowers to become Justice League Super Heroes in celebration of the movie. Starting in the next few days through December 31, you can see them sprint, soar, and fight to defend the planet when you pay with your phone.

How did these heroic characters make their way into the app? It began back in 2016, when the Android Pay team designed an animation–an Android bot dressed up as a space explorer–to surprise our fans. This little space traveler sparked so much delight that the team created more, drawing inspiration from Diwali, Halloween and Chinese New Year, among other celebrations.

    Justice_1

So far, these charming bots have always been fleeting, but our fans liked them so much we wanted to find a way to let you keep them beyond the checkout line. And with these action-packed animations, you can do just that–by collecting them in your app after you pay in stores. Here’s how it works.

    justice_2

    1. Pay in stores with Android Pay

Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of the Android Pay app and added a credit or debit card. Then you’ll have the chance to collect Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg or Aquaman when you pay in stores–you won’t know who until you try.

    2. Unite the Justice League

Keep using Android Pay to recruit all the characters. You can see how you’re doing in the app.

    3. Share with friends and family

You can’t save the world alone! Tap on your bots to share them with friends and family–and invite them to join in.

Ready to unlock your superpowers? You’ll find them starting in the next few days in the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Poland, Russia, Canada, Spain, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Thousands of apps and millions of stores accept Android Pay, a simpler and more secure mobile payment experience. Android Pay is now available in 10 markets, with more coming soon, including Brazil, Canada, Russia, Spain and Taiwan. And in addition to our already announced Visa and Mastercard partnerships, we’ll soon enable a streamlined mobile checkout experience for PayPal users.

The newest ways to pay with Google

Yesterday, we announced the Google Payment API, which lets people pay in app or online with any verified credit or debit card saved to their Google Account, via products like Google Play, Chrome and YouTube.

    Wish Pay with Google

For users, the option to pay with Google means breezing through checkout without needing to remember and type multiple lines of payment details. You simply choose your preferred card, enter a security code or authenticate with your Android device, and check out.

Developers who adopt this API can enable an easy-to-use checkout experience for their customers. Sign up for early access to the new Google Payment API.

In the upcoming months, we’ll also enable people in the U.S. to send or receive payments via the Google Assistant. On your Google Home or Android device, it’s as simple as saying “Ok Google, send $10 to Jane for pizza.” All you need is a debit card linked to your Google account.

    P2P Assistant

Connect with customers before, during and after purchase

We’re also announcing new ways for merchants to engage and reward customers before they walk into the store and after they’ve left.

The Card Linked Offers API drives customer loyalty by providing a new channel to deliver targeted offers, and Panera Bread is one of the first merchants who will roll out this new capability nationally. MyPanera members who save their loyalty card to Android Pay can discover offers and learn about new menu items, surfaced by Android Pay when they are at the store. The offer is redeemed when you use your MyPanera account at checkout.

    Card Linked Offers with Panera

We’re also making it easier for Android Pay users to add loyalty programs. For example, Walgreens Balance Rewards® members who manually apply their loyalty account with a phone number and use Android Pay will receive a notification on their phone that easily enables them to link that loyalty card to Android Pay for future visits. This experience is powered by our smart tap technology, which Walgreens has fully deployed across their 8,000+ U.S. stores.

There’s more—we’re collaborating with Clover, a First Data company, to expand our smart tap technology beyond national retailers to businesses of all sizes. With the upcoming integration of smart tap in Clover’s developer APIs, you’ll be able to build Android apps for loyalty, coupon and gift card redemption and new features, such as order ahead and tap for pick up.
