I Make Sculptures Of Imaginary Animals Out Of Resin

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

My name is Clémentine Bal, I’m a french sculptor. I create characters inspired by nature. They are perfect as gentle and benevolent little deities, sometimes as little beings who need to be protected. I wished that we wanted to take them in the hands, to take care of them. They stimulate our emplathy and bring us the sweetness we need.

I take care of it for a long time, during the whole process of creation. They are sanded carefully, then painted.

  • Steampunk Sculptures That I Create From Trash (Part 2)

Steampunk Sculptures That I Create From Trash (Part 2)

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

A circle of time is inexorably rotating as if it was a well-stained clock mechanism. We all, no matter we work, no matter we create, we love, we dream or perform our role in an endless time performance whose directors and actors are we ourselves, are the part of this mechanism…

I immersed into the new type of arts some years ago. It overpowered me as soon as I got acquainted with it. That is a very strange type of arts full of unexpected solutions and inventions and it fits to one word “Steampunk.“ I use the most diverse materials for work starting from wares, antiquarians and ending with rubbish that is useless. It is a pleasure for me that I can help to transform an item that was thrown and is useless giving it the opportunity to exist in a new shape, in a new form as if I continued its existence in an already artistic expression.

I present my works and advertise them mostly on the Internet. A steampunk style lovers from Lithuania, Netherlands, Germany, USA and Australia have acquired some of my works. I want to share my works with you and I hope that it will help to find myself.

    A mole

Once upon a time a mole lived and he had his own mole hole (a house). It was his portable property which could stand anywhere and no land tax had to be paid for this because it was a mole, spectacled and armed, with exclusive length nails which helped him to dig the longest tunnel with very little effort.

Of course, he didn‘t know anything about the secret exit. A caterpillar was running out through it as soon as he started feeling danger. It always happened but as soon as it gets to know about it, that will end or maybe they‘ll become friends…

That‘s the story that was born in my head while I was turning over the corpse of vacuum cleaner in my hands.

    Sperm whale bathyscaphe

This piece of art was created quite accidentally. I was assembling the sculpture at my studio and while looking for a proper part, I saw an old sewing machine corpse cover dropped a long time ago.

I’ve found another one identical cover, mixed up with each other in my mind and I had already imagined the result of the future work.

The idea of combining the submarine and the sea resident sperm whale was in my mind because they looked somehow similar to me. I had to use my imagination to make this attractive bathyscape and sperm whale hybrid.

    Turbo ostrich

As soon as I noticed an ostrich I understood that it can be a good object to fulfill my ideas. That’s a bird symbolizing speed, power and gracefulness.

The main detail which the creative process began with was the bend part of the saxophone. Its graceful bending matched with the neck of an ostrich.

    A chameleon among flowers

I‘ve noticed that a lot of people like my chameleons. I‘ve already created four of them. They‘re interesting and weird living beings which charm with their colour and strange shape of body.

I always find compositions of different textures and colours. Each of them is lovely for me even though that one among the blossoms I like most.

    Diving Champion

The emergence of this sculpture was initiated by the old scissors which was received from the aunt to chop the fins. Their curved shape fated this scissors to become hawthorn. Later everything self-assured.

Again everything turned into the feeling as if I‘m creating the animation movie character. That‘s the way it goes by itself, as I‘m trying to represent each animal with unusual attributes and shapes. Then they become interesting, even funny, but it‘s exactly my wish and my purpose – to cause curiosity in people and reward a smile. I think that a good dose of humour haven‘t hurt anyone until now.

Some time ago I had created a walrus but it was much smaller. It completely surpassed my expectations. That‘s a real diving champion.

  • I Upcycle Old Louis Vuitton Bags Into Star Wars Sculptures

I Upcycle Old Louis Vuitton Bags Into Star Wars Sculptures

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

My name is Gabriel Dishaw, my passion for working with metal and mechanical objects has been essential in the evolution of my art. It provides me an avenue to express myself in a way that brings new life to materials such as typewriters, adding machines and old computers – technology that would normally end up in a landfill. My mission is to create dialogue and help find creative, environmentally sound ways of re-purposing e-waste.

This project was all about upcycling old Louis Vuitton bags into Star Wars sculptures. I used different pieces for some of them – mainly Louis Vuitton luggage and other upcycled materials, such as cables, computer chips, wire, gears, wire, and adding machine parts.

This Sculptor Will Mess With Your Head By Making You Think His Work Is Made From Wood

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Christopher David White (previous post here) is a talented American sculptor who might actually trick you with his amazing creations. This artist makes you admire his artworks twice by creating an illusion of a completely different material so you always have to go back and check them one more time. White’s sculptures are handmade from clay and rendered with strong attention to detail, resulting in gorgeous ceramic artworks that look like petrified wood.

Sculptor’s works explore the relationship between humans and nature, and how both are in a constant state of flux between growth and decay. “Change is a constant reminder that permanence is the ultimate illusion,” writes the artist on his website. “It is through the creation of hyper-realistic sculpture that I explore the relationship between nature, man, and the phenomenon of impermanence.”

Take a look at his new woodlike ceramic sculptures below.

  • I Make Sculptures Of Gentle Monsters From Polymer Clay

I Make Sculptures Of Gentle Monsters From Polymer Clay

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

I’ve always had a soft spot for the idea of “gentle monsters”. These little creature sculptures are meant to take things in nature that have always been considered “scary” and unwanted and present them as innocent and natural.

Each sculpture is made primarily with polymer clay, combined with other materials including wire, glass, moss and modeling paste. They are each painted by hand and sealed with satin glaze.
