With the release of Moonshiners on December 13, Red Dead Online players on PlayStation 4 will also be receiving a new batch of early access content and bonuses available until January 21.

Free Moonshiner Band Expansion

Operating your own moonshining business comes with many perks, a constant stream of thirsty clientele in your underground bar is just one of them. Bar owners can start a band to help foster a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere while serving up your own shine with the Band Expansion, free to all PS4 players until January 21.

New Hideout: Beaver Hollow

Deep in the woods of Roanoke Ridge lies the ruthless Murfee Brood, a backwoods menace that can be found in Beaver Hollow. PS4 players have early access to this all new Hideout, and can clear out and pilfer their makeshift camp for rewards.

New Apparel and Emotes

Wheeler, Rawson and Co. has its own selection of special offerings coming to their catalogue specifically for PS4 players, which includes four new clothing items and five new emotes.

Apparel:

• Salizzo Double Bandolier: Many an outlaw prefers the double bandolier – because two bandoliers are twice as stylish. Naturally.
• Starrett Hat: A fashionable hat with contrasting oval crown and upturned brim. Each hat is finished by hand with a woven leather buckled band.
• Rulfo Boots: One of Wheeler, Rawson and Co.’s most attractive designs, featuring elaborate studding on the pull straps, shaft and vamp. Cut only from high-quality leather.
• Gordillo Half-Chaps: Buckled half-chaps with studded panels and lavish fringes. Guaranteed to add grandeur to any outfit.

Emotes:

• Hat Flick: Greet passersby with a casual flick of the hat
• Howl: Vocalize and advertise your acquisition of new territory, search for companionship, or utter loneliness in a primal, prolonged fashion.
• Jovial Laugh: A jovial, good natured guffaw, grinning from ear to ear.
• Subtle Wave: Politely acknowledge friend or foe with this subtle and relaxed wave of the hand.
• You vs Me: An immediate and indignant offer to settle a situation immediately on site through pistol fire or fisticuffs.

Look for a selection of limited time festive-themed variations on Red Dead Online Showdown Modes coming to all platforms just in time for the holidays on December 19, with a few select variants only available to PS4 players.

Alongside this new early access content, Photo Mode has been added on PS4, which lets you capture and share stunning images from the frontier with an array of features including free-form camera movement and the ability to add Filters, Stickers or Text and upload your shots directly to Social Club.

In addition to Photo Mode, Red Dead Redemption 2 players on PS4 will also get:

• Story Mode Bounty Hunter Missions: track down wanted criminals Herman Zizendorf, Camille de Millemont and Bart Cavanaugh
• Story Mode Gang Hideouts: Take on the deadly Del Lobos gang at Gaptooth Breach and Solomon’s Folly

Last week’s
Red Dead Online update saw the game’s biggest content drop yet including a huge range of new cooperative story missions, Free Roam activities, Poker and sweeping improvements including the introduction of Playing Styles, increased gold payouts and more. This week, PlayStation 4 players get early access to new Showdown Modes, clothing, emotes and a brutal new melee weapon, all free of charge and without rank restriction.

The Ancient Tomahawk

Visit your local Fence to acquire the throwable Ancient Tomahawk, free of charge and available to players of any rank.

The Perlino Andalusian Horse, Horse Equipment, Clothing and Emotes

Visit the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue in the game or online to check out a range of new content available at no cost with no rank restrictions for PlayStation 4 players only.

The Perlino Andalusian Horse has higher stamina for longer rides and can be acquired for free along with a new saddle and saddlebags. Or visit a General Store or Tailor to try on the Finely Jacket, Stenger Studded Spurs and the Caldwell Hat to take them home free of charge. You can also get the Boast and Hey, You emotes from the Catalogue and equip them for use through the Emote Wheel.

Make it Count: Ancient Tomahawk

A true test of resourcefulness: use nothing but Ancient Tomahawks to be the last one standing in this free-for-all Showdown Mode. Take down your enemies silently by throwing the Ancient Tomahawk or getting up-close and personal. With a gradually shrinking play area, there’s nowhere to run. Launch Make it Count in the Special Series from the Red Dead Online main menu, through the Quick Join option in the Player Menu or by visiting the Special Series icon on your map.

Last Stand

Last Stand is a new variation of free-for-all competition where players compete to survive in two-minute bouts, resulting in a bloody free-for-all with no way out, no second chances, and one winner. Be the last one alive to win a bout. You can jump into Last Stand via the Red Dead Online main menu, the Quick Join option from the Player Menu or by visiting the Special Series icon on your map.

In addition to this suite of Early Access Content for PS4 players, you can earn five Gold Bars for playing in a Posse any time before May 27. Enjoy this range of new content and keep an eye on Red Dead Online in the weeks to come for new content and events.

Today’s update to Red Dead Online brings a host of new gameplay including new cooperative story missions, Free Roam activities and the addition of Poker alongside a range of updates and improvements that strengthen and stabilize the foundational world of the Red Dead Online experience.

This is just the beginning. The future of Red Dead Online not only includes continued improvements to the core elements of the world to make every aspect of the game fun for all kinds of players, but also brand-new experiences that establish a deeper, more immersive connection to the world and your character. For PS4 players without a PlayStation Plus subscription, you’ll be able to play Red Dead Online as part of a special bonus period from now until May 27.

A Land of Opportunities Missions

The revenge saga of Jessica LeClerk expands today with new missions in A Land of Opportunities for both honorable and dishonorable players. After the epic showdown in Fort Mercer that concluded the last series of missions, players will help Mrs. LeClerk get closer to the truth behind the murder of her husband. In the more honorable Gunslinger path, battle the Del Lobos gang and help Marshall Tom Davies save Valentine — and his own neck.

In the Outlaw strand, outwit lawmen to assist Samson Finch in highway robbery, and pull off a daring high-stakes theft at the Saint Denis Bank. Both paths lead to a rendezvous in Blackwater with a dangerous adversary.

Free Roam Missions

Free Roam Missions also expand today with new characters from the story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and a variety of new and diverse mission types. Bring your Posse to meet with Thomas the Skiff Captain down in Bayou Nwa for some honest work or visit the disconcertingly hospitable Aberdeen Pig Farmers to get your hands extremely dirty, and look out for more characters to appear soon.

Poker

Visit poker tables at towns and outposts across the map to challenge your friends to a private, invite-only game of Hold ’Em. Or, raise the stakes and take a seat at a public table, where the buy-ins and rewards are even higher. All poker tables seat up to six players, available in five locations: Blackwater, Saint Denis, Tumbleweed, Valentine and Flatneck Station.

LeMat Revolver, Clothing and More

Boasting a 9-round revolving chamber and a secondary barrel for a single buckshot round, switch between rapid-fire bullets and a devastating shotgun shell on the fly with the LeMat Revolver — now available for purchase from the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue.

More clothing items and emotes are also available, featuring some highly-requested clothing options including Ponchos, patterned Bandanas and more — as well as new emotes such as Throat Slit and Flip Off. New inventory will be coming and going often so check the Catalogue frequently to see what’s in stock week-to-week.

In addition, all players who jump into Red Dead Online this week will get a gift of 15 Gold Bars and see a 25% increase of XP on A Land of Opportunities, Free Roam Missions, Showdown Modes, Races and Free Roam Events. Treasure hunters will also find 25% extra Cash and Gold in chests containing them. All Ultimate Edition owners will also get a gift of RDO$100 and the Throat Slit emote for free.
