    Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hey PlayStation Slayers, I’m here with exciting news – Dauntless is coming to PlayStation 5 on December 2! This new native version of the game, launching alongside our “Call to Arms” content update, includes significant graphical upgrades, much faster load times, DualSense controller and 3D Audio support, and much more.

Dauntless launches on PS5 December 2

With the native PS5 version of Dauntless, we’ve taken the opportunity to upgrade visuals across the game. In addition to dynamic 4K resolution targeting 60 frames-per-second, there are enhanced environmental textures and detail across all our islands, including upgraded trees, grass, and water. We’ve also got higher-quality lighting and materials, new volumetric fog, and improved visual effects across the game. The Shattered Isles have never looked so good!

Of course, we couldn’t come to PS5 without supporting the DualSense controller. You’ll feel your character’s stamina and empowered Repeater ammo through trigger resistance, hear radio callouts through the speaker, and see applied elemental effects in the lights. You’ll also be able to use the microphone built into the DualSense to chat with your party and we’ve added support for immersive 3D Audio. Together with the PS5’s SSD, load times have been significantly reduced, getting you into the hunt faster than ever.

If you’ve already been playing Dauntless on PS4, you’ll be able to pick up your progress automatically on the PS5 version. You can also jump between the two and play with your friends with cross-play and cross-save. To celebrate everything we’ve added to Dauntless since our initial PS4 release two years ago, the “Call to Arms” update launching December 2 adds 36 new Trophies for you to collect in the PlayStation 4 version of the game. On PlayStation 5, there’s a whole new set of Trophies to unlock, including a Platinum.

Also arriving in the Shattered Isles as part of the “Call to Arms”update is the razor-sharp new Behemoth, Sahvyt, a gameplay refresh for our Chain Blades weapon, the new Krolachi Warlords Hunt Pass, new quests and challenges, and a host of other additions and improvements. Stay tuned to PlayDauntless.com for more details as we approach launch.

You can download and hop into Dauntless right now on PS4 and PS5 (backwards compatible), and we’re excited for you to enjoy the new native PS5 version and all our other new content on December 2!

    Clear skies, Slayers.

Dauntless erscheint am 2. Dezember für PS5

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

    Klare Himmel, Slayer.

  • Dauntless Reforged reinvents hunting and progression tomorrow

Dauntless Reforged reinvents hunting and progression tomorrow

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Dauntless Reforged launches on December 3! Phoenix Labs has been hard at work ensuring that this update will change the core experience of Dauntless for the better.

    Hunting Grounds

Drop-in/drop-out hunts are here, and the downtime between hunts has been greatly reduced. Now players can stay and slay. The Hunting Grounds are Dauntless’ biggest and most ambitious hunt type yet, designed from the ground up to provide you with a variety of activities to take part in. The Hunting Grounds offer 18 handcrafted islands to explore, brimming with flora, fauna, treasures to discover, and — of course — fearsome Behemoths.

    Dauntless Reforged

    Dauntless Reforged

Every element of the Hunting Grounds ladders up to an overall goal: giving you more opportunities to enjoy the combat, exploration, and teamwork at the core of the Dauntless experience.

Take to the skies and explore these islands with your trusty glider. Pinpoint opportunities for gathering supplies and experience from above. Everything you need to progress through the Slayer’s Path and upgrade your gear is there for you.

    Dauntless Reforged

    Dauntless Reforged

    The Slayer’s Path

One of the biggest changes in Dauntless Reforged is the Slayer’s Path. The Slayer’s Path is an all-new branching progression system that lets you choose your path through the Shattered Isles.

The system is made up of two types of paths: the main path, which runs up the centre, and the side paths that branch out from it.

    Dauntless Reforged

    Dauntless Reforged

Each time you unlock a milestone on the main path, you also gain access to any connected side paths. These longer, branching paths are made up of nodes that can do all kinds of things — from unlocking new islands and hunt types to granting you weapon mods and useful passive bonuses. Which side paths you choose to invest in is completely up to you.

    Dauntless Reforged

    Dauntless Reforged

    Weapons Reforged

Armour and weapon progression has been completely reworked in Dauntless Reforged. Incremental upgrades have been replaced by a tier system that makes items more immediately useful. Dauntless Reforged also introduces weapon skill levels, reforging, and power surging: new ways to take control of your power score and unlock your gear’s true potential.

Level each weapon skill from 1-20 by hunting in the Shattered Isles. Once you hit 20 in a weapon skill, it’s time to reforge. Reforging a weapon skill resets that skill back to level 1, but rewards you with an aetherheart. Take this aetherheart and power surge any piece of gear you want. Every piece of armour and weapon can be power surged once, boosting its power significantly.

Take advantage of these new systems to create the ultimate set of gear for your Behemoth-crushing Slayer.

    Dauntless Reforged

    Dauntless Reforged

    The Cold Front Hunt Pass

And of course, there’s also a new Hunt Pass launching alongside Reforged.

The Cold Front Hunt Pass offers two brand-new sets of armour skins and two fresh rumour quest chains. Complete a rumour’s requirements to unlock unique cosmetics.

Don the armour of the mysterious Frost Wardens and face the frigid winds of winter head-on. You may even meet one of them in the field…

    Play Free Now

Dauntless Reforged (1.5.0) launches on December 3, and there’s never been a better time to jump back in. Play for free on PS4, or on PS5 via backward compatibility.

See you in the Shattered Isles, Slayer.

  • Dauntless Reforged erfindet ab 3. Dezember das Jagen und den Fortschritt neu

Dauntless Reforged erfindet ab 3. Dezember das Jagen und den Fortschritt neu

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

  • Explore Dauntless’ new city of Ramsgate today

Explore Dauntless’ new city of Ramsgate today

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Greetings, PlayStation Slayers! For the uninitiated, Dauntless is a free-to-play co-op action RPG that’s all about feeling like a badass while taking down boss-sized Behemoths with your friends in the world of the Shattered Isles. We’ve released over a dozen content updates since we launched on PlayStation 4 last May, and with our latest, we’re introducing a complete redesign of our hub city of Ramsgate.

    New Horizons

Ramsgate is near and dear to our hearts, and we took a great deal of time thinking about how a new Ramsgate could best serve you, designing it in a way that is fun to navigate and makes sense for the actions you take when you aren’t off fighting Behemoths. It’s also been integral for our team to see how we could incorporate Ramsgate community feedback over the past months (and years).

We can’t wait for you to check it out for yourselves. Let’s take a look around, shall we?

    A Living City

In addition to reworking the general layout of Ramsgate and adding more height and depth to the city itself, we wanted to offer you more ways to interact with the world and learn about Ramsgate and its inhabitants. The animation you see above is one of several vista shots you can interact with to see the city from different angles, and perhaps catch something you would’ve missed exploring on foot. You can also collect lore about Ramsgate and the Shattered Isles by interacting with objects strewn about the city. These will populate in your Journal, which can be accessed within the Quests and Progression section of the main menu.

We’ve also given each vendor area a stronger theme, both visually and aurally – you’ll notice the music change depending on where you are in the city and who you’re talking to.

We’ve added a number of new landmarks to our city, including the bazaar where Gregario has opened up shop for all store and Hunt Pass needs, along with the eclectic tent-by-way-of-crashed-airship for our new tonic vendor, Granny Strega.

You can also now easily and quickly navigate Ramsgate using the aether jets scattered throughout the city, which makes getting to where you want to go a breeze.

Take a tour of the city yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments!

    Clear Skies, Sharp Swords

The Clear Skies update launching today also introduces the rework of our sword class, which was the first weapon we created in Dauntless. The sword is the first thing you wield against a Behemoth in Dauntless, and our initial design was meant to ease newer players into our combat and teach them the ropes.

Over time, this design began to feel outdated compared to our newer weapons, so we completely redesigned the sword combat system from the ground up, developing new combos, new mods, and general tactics for you to learn.

Escalation, our latest hunt type that pits you against a gauntlet of Behemoths with random modifiers and amps, is the perfect proving ground to try out the new sword once you get a feel for its playstyle. We hope it feels like a brand-new weapon, so check it out and let us know what you think!

    Join The Fight

Now is the perfect time to jump into Dauntless and check out all our new additions, along with a number of Umbral Escalation modifiers and amps that arrive with this update. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to get in touch with us on Twitter, Discord, or Reddit.

See you in the Shattered Isles soon, Slayers!

  • Dauntless’ Free Scorched Earth Update Arrives March 19

Dauntless’ Free Scorched Earth Update Arrives March 19

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Hello again, PlayStation Slayers! I’m here today to tell you about the Scorched Earth content update for Dauntless, arriving March 19 on PS4. It’s a hefty update that includes a new Behemoth, Blaze Escalation, Hunt Pass, and loads of new bells and whistles for you to check out.

    Blaze Escalation

If you took part in our Shock Escalation season that launched this past December, you’ll be familiar with the mechanics of the hunt type, but here’s a refresher: Escalations task Slayers with a series of Behemoth encounters with unique difficulty modifiers and randomized Behemoth combinations, culminating in a battle against the Escalation’s “boss” Behemoth. Shock Escalation was our first experiment with this type of hunt, so we wanted to expand the breadth of content for this season.

You’ll find new fiery Behemoth variations in Blaze Escalation, and we’ve added a number of new attack patterns to these variants that should keep you on your toes. If you’ve been keeping an eye on our interactive Scorched Earth map you probably noticed a few teasers for Blaze Escalation content, including new aggressive fauna, a lush, tropical island chain to explore, and the star of the show, our new Behemoth. Without further ado…

    New Behemoth – Torgadoro

Meet the Torgadoro! Torgadoro is the “boss” Behemoth in Blaze Escalation, and you can reach this menace by successfully netting an Escalation score of 40 or above in a “10-50” level Escalation hunt. With a high level of agility (despite his gargantuan size) and fists that can quite literally crack the earth and bludgeon Slayers to a pulp, the Torgadoro is a formidable opponent for even the most seasoned Slayer. You’ll get your chance to test your might against this foe in the crater of a volcano soon.

If you successfully reach the end of a 10-50 Escalation hunt, you’ll earn schematics for powerful legendary weapons forged using Torgadoro parts. Each legendary Torgadoro weapon includes two prismatic cell slots, the ability to “bond” the weapon to another blaze weapon, and a special ability that calls forth Torgadoro’s rage, letting you rampage across the battlefield with oversized fists.

    Searing Talons Hunt Pass

Scorched Earth also brings with it a brand new Hunt Pass, Searing Talons. You can earn up to 50 levels of cosmetic rewards and consumables from the enigmatic Blaze Hawk faction of Slayers known for swift, stealthy hunts in fiery islands of the Burning Heights. The set culminates in a dazzling set of Blaze Hawk armour skins that will show you’re ready for Torgadoro’s domain.

    Hunt Pass Prestige

Completing all 50 levels will open up Hunt Pass Prestige, launching Thursday with the content update. Each Prestige level you complete will earn you Vault coins — a new currency created especially for Prestige players. These can be used to purchase hard-to-find items from previous Hunt Passes, including cosmetic armour sets, emotes, weapon skins, and more.

    New Improvements

This update brings a number of quality of life improvements and other features we’ve been itching to get into Dauntless. You’ll find a new and improved move list that provides detailed information about combos, weapon specs, and more. We’ve also updated our daily login bonuses to include a multitude of potential items, including rams, elemental orbs, arcstones, patrol chests, bounty tokens, and tonics. For the “bounty hunters” out there, bounties have been rebalanced across the board, and the bounty rating (bronze, silver, gold) should now properly reflect the challenge associated with each bounty.

We hope you enjoy Scorched Earth, Slayers! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave us a message below.

  • Dauntless “Haunted Shadows” Free Update Launches Today on PS4

Dauntless “Haunted Shadows” Free Update Launches Today on PS4

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Greetings, PlayStation Slayers! Today I’m here to tell you about our latest free seasonal content update for , which goes live today on PS4. If you’ve taken a look around Ramsgate in the past week, you’ve likely noticed that the Dark Harvest has transformed the city into a shadow-laden bastion for the Unseen. This ominous cult tends to arrive at this time of year to spread their message to any Slayer keen enough to decipher their scrawls spread across Ramsgate and beyond.

To combat the Unseen, today we’re launching the Haunted Shadows Hunt Pass, which welcomes a new faction: the Night Hunters. Haunted Shadows offers Slayers the ability to earn a full set of Night Hunter cosmetic armour on either the Basic or Elite track, plus a prestigious set of Ultra Armour at Elite Track Level 50. The Dauntless store is also filled to the brim with spooky seasonal cosmetics, emotes, and more, so be sure to take a look if you fancy yourself a bone xylophonist.

As we outlined in the previous post, the new Bounty system rewards slayers with Hunt Pass experience, and today you’ll be able to draft a new slate of bounties to work your way to level 50.

Whether or not you’ve been following our Unseen community ARG, today you can celebrate the event as we’re offering both the Unseen emote and laughing pumpkin flare for free until November 5. Grab ‘em while you can!

We’re always listening closely to community feedback, and we’re happy to share that Haunted Shadows brings with it numerous performance and quality-of-life improvements. Starting today, we’re introducing an AFK timer to all hunts, so Slayers who go idle for more than three minutes will be automatically returned to Ramsgate. As always, Behemoth health and difficulty will automatically scale for the remaining party.

We’ve also done a full design pass on our compass system, ensuring that Slayers can easily find their way around Ramsgate, identify quest prompts, and track flares while on a hunt.

There are dozens more nuanced changes that arrive with Haunted Shadows, so if you’re interested in digging in, go check out our official community Reddit.

Lastly, I want to remind all PlayStation Plus subscribers about our exclusive Royal Steel weapon skin set. You can grab it now at PlayStation Store and look especially regal as you slay.

Have any feedback on Haunted Shadows, or Dauntless in general? Hit us up in the comments!

  • Dauntless “Fortune & Glory” Free Update Launches July 16

Dauntless “Fortune & Glory” Free Update Launches July 16

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Greetings, PlayStation Slayers! I’m here today to talk about “Fortune & Glory,” a free update for Dauntless that introduces Trials, a new Hunt Pass, and plenty more. This is our first major content update since we launched in May, and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on it. Let’s check out what’s coming your way on July 16 when the update goes live.

Fortune & Glory is all about answering the call to prove you’re the best Slayer in the Shattered Isles. Trials are Slayers’ first introduction to Lady Luck, an enigmatic figure who arrives in Ramsgate with an entire island in tow. Lady Luck is the catalyst to kick off Trials in Dauntless, an experience that pits Slayers against difficult Behemoth encounters with unique modifiers and aggressive fauna, ensuring that even veteran Slayers will experience something new and challenging with each Trial. Trials will rotate on a weekly basis, so be sure to check back each week to see what new challenge awaits.

Trials are time-based, and allow you to see how you rank against your fellow Behemoth Slayers on the Wall of Champions outside Lady Luck’s shop. The Wall of Champions includes both solo and group Trials leaders, so team up or go alone and see if you can earn some bragging rights!

Successfully completing a Trial will net you with a new currency type — Marks. Steel Marks are earned through “Normal” difficulty and used to purchase gameplay-impacting rewards such as weapon mods and alternate specials. Completing “Dauntless”-difficulty Trials rewards Slayers with Gilded Marks, currency used to purchase exclusive cosmetic rewards from Lady Luck’s shop. Both Steel and Gilded Marks are exclusive to Lady Luck’s shop, and can only be earned through Trials.

The “Fortune & Glory” update and Hunt Pass marks the beginning of the “High Skies” season in Dauntless, which will comprise two Hunt Passes and plenty of new content. It’s marked by a distinctive corsair-themed aesthetic, and the offerings from both Lady Luck and Gregario Flynt will allow you to embody your inner scallywag.

We’re also adding a new cosmetic modifier slot with this update — the head accessory, or “head bling,” as we like to call it around the studio. You can access this slot in the Loadout menu where you equip your various helmets and masks, under Modifications. Lady Luck should have a number of new options to check out, so we look forward to seeing what creative combinations you PlayStation Slayers come up with.

From everyone here at Phoenix Labs, we hope you enjoy “Fortune & Glory” — clear skies, Slayers!

  • Free-to-Play Action RPG Dauntless Arrives Tomorrow on PS4

Free-to-Play Action RPG Dauntless Arrives Tomorrow on PS4

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Hello again, PlayStation.Blog readers! The last time I shared a post here, our team at Phoenix Labs had just announced that Dauntless was headed to PlayStation 4. Five months later, I’m happy to say that we’re now ready to welcome our PlayStation friends to the Shattered Isles. Starting tomorrow, May 21, you can download Dauntless on PS4, and it is completely free to play. We also have a special offer for PlayStation Plus subscribers in the form of six exclusive PlayStation-inspired Dauntless weapon skins. Check out the sword and axe skins below!

Since our announcement last December, we’ve been working hard to add as much new content as we can, including huge additions to progression, new Behemoths, quests, and the Mastery system. We’ve been polishing and fine-tuning the game along the way so PlayStation fans around the world have a great time when they first jump in.

    Master The Hunt

One of the biggest additions to the core game you’ll see at launch is the Mastery system. Dauntless is all about teaming up with friends to take down larger-than-life Behemoths, crafting weapons and armor using their parts to take on harder and more complex Behemoths scattered across the Shattered Isles, and feeling like a total badass while doing so.

The Mastery system invites Slayers to hone and prove their skills across dozens of Behemoth and gear-related cards, earning experience, checking off achievements and unlocking new combat customization options. The system offers both new and seasoned Slayers fresh ways to engage with every weapon class and Behemoth encounter — all combined with long-term goals that net huge rewards. It’s a great way to further your experience in Dauntless while earning awesome loot.

We currently have dozens of Mastery levels for each weapon and Behemoth in the game, so there is plenty of content to work through!

The core progression experience in Dauntless has been completely overhauled for launch based on loads of feedback during our Open Beta. When you successfully defeat a Behemoth, you’ll be greeted with a revamped “End Of Hunt” screen, informing you of all the break parts you nabbed, experience you earned in various Mastery cards, gatherables collected, and much more. We want you to be able to see your Slayer progression every time you finish a hunt so when you get back to Ramsgate, the hub city of Dauntless, you can see what new Mastery cards have unlocked and what rewards you’ve earned.

    Assassins In Ramsgate

We’re also launching a new Hunt Pass season starting on May 21, titled Hidden Blades. This season transforms Ramsgate for the Moon Blossom Festival and offers Slayers a huge variety of thematic gear to flaunt their inner assassin. Slayers can work through 50 levels of content across both the basic and Elite tracks, earning cosmetic rewards as well as premium currency along the way.

    Welcome To The Shattered Isles

We can’t wait to welcome the PlayStation community into the world of Dauntless. As we say at Phoenix Labs: Clear Skies, Slayers!
