  • Welcome to “Green Hell”: Adding the Legendary Nordschleife to Forza Motorsport

Welcome to “Green Hell”: Adding the Legendary Nordschleife to Forza Motorsport

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

“The Nürburgring was built in 1927 with extraordinary length through the middle of the Eifel forests. It remains the longest permanent race track to this day. Even back then, the racing drivers who came to the Nürburgring knew what an incredibly special and challenging track the Nürburgring actually is,” explains Alexander, quoting Rudolf Caracciola, who won the first car race on the Nürburgring and described his experience as follows:

“When we came to the newly opened Nürburgring in 1927, we opened our eyes. We had never experienced anything like it. There was a road in the middle of the Eifel mountains, a closed loop with almost 180 bends spread over 22 kilometers. It was a track with gradients that were a sharp blow to the engine, but also with unspeakably beautiful views far across the country, of valleys and villages.”

On the one hand, it is the almost 100-year history that still inspires awe and respect among motorsport enthusiasts and professional racing drivers alike: 1000-kilometer races, fatal accidents, unforgettable Formula 1 races, new records and impressive performances by the best drivers in the world. Record-breaking world champion Michael Schuhmacher made such a lasting impression that an entire corner was named after him. When Niki Lauda’s Ferrari went up in flames on the Nordschleife in 1976, the entire motorsport world held its breath.

In addition to the history, it is the track itself that accounts for the legend of the Nordschleife: the unique layout, the dynamics, the differences in altitude and the unique atmosphere. If you want to complete a lap, you have to tackle over 70 corners and 300 meters of elevation gain. An experience that demands everything from the driver and is now possible in Forza Motorsport.

In Forza Motorsport, players will discover what makes this circuit an adrenaline-filled crucible, one which pushes professionals, manufacturers, cars – and now, finally, Forza fans – to their limits. YouTuber and racing expert rAii has already put the track through its paces in countless racing games, including the new Forza Motorsport, and shared his thoughts on the presentation with Xbox Wire DACH: “It just feels like the Nordschleife that you know. That’s the most important thing.”

  • How Starfield Filled Its Galaxy with Alien Life

How Starfield Filled Its Galaxy with Alien Life

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

Some planets also feature multiple biomes to explore, which further complicated things. “We also had to consider which biomes they appeared in – if a creature only appeared in one, less common biome, they would be much harder to find and scan than if they appeared in multiple biomes,” explains Combs. “Having a manageable number of creatures that the player was required to find to complete a planet survey was a consideration. The density of creatures spawned is also controlled by the biome – some have higher density where it makes sense.”

I was curious to know if that placement was based on a lifeform’s evolution trajectory, because by the time we meet these creatures in the game, they’ve already reached their phase of surviving and thriving in a particular hospitable environment.

“We had an amazing variety of creatures created by our artists to choose from — there was not a specific system that determined how creatures evolved,” says Combs. “When placing creatures, there was thought put into which creatures made the most sense for which world: hard armored crabs might make sense for harsh, marshy worlds, for example. A big part of the process was if the creature looked right on a certain planet — ‘does this look like something that would thrive in the savannas of Akila?’ But they are also alien worlds, so sometimes you want a creature that looks alien.”

    Piecing it Together

Creating all the creatures in Starfield required a significant amount of thought and effort from the development team. Nogueira shares that, during concepting, they produced dozens of silhouettes to create a diverse pool of alien creatures. Each of these concepts were grounded in realism by studying real creatures from our planet, while taking note of how diverse our own ecosystem is.

  • Xbox’s Promise to Bring More Games to More Players Around the World

Xbox’s Promise to Bring More Games to More Players Around the World

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Today, on a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast, we shared an update on plans to continue to bring more games to more people around the world, with the exciting news that the first Activision Blizzard game on Xbox Game Pass will be Diablo IV, beginning March 28.

Phil Spencer, Sarah Bond, and Matt Booty also shared the vision on game exclusivity, the future of Xbox hardware, and the overall Xbox promise. There’s a lot to talk about, so we encourage you to watch the full episode here:

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGlD9SO3rKU?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

With the combined creativity across Team Xbox, players can expect an incredible 2024 with the likes of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Towerborne and more coming your way, alongside continued updates for our blockbuster franchises Call of Duty, Minecraft, Forza, The Elder Scrolls Online and Microsoft Flight Simulator.

There will be even more to play as we begin to fulfill our commitment to offer Activision and Blizzard games with Game Pass, both new releases and classic games from its legendary catalog. We’re happy to share that Diablo IV will be available to play by the 34 million Game Pass subscribers on both PC and Xbox consoles beginning March 28! This is only the start of Xbox players being able to enjoy Activision and Blizzard games on Game Pass – we look forward to sharing more soon.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAzsvhydCps?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Our combined studio teams already ship some of the biggest franchises and critically-acclaimed adventures across multiple platforms: Minecraft, Call of Duty, Overwatch, Diablo, The Elder Scrolls Online, and more have built communities across consoles, PC, and mobile. Likewise, Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda have brought dozens of games to Steam alongside Xbox consoles on launch day; the teams at Xbox have extensive experience supporting multiple platforms, while continuing to invest heavily in our studios, our consoles and services.

Indeed, our games are reaching more players than ever; across Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard, King, and Xbox Game Studios, we reach hundreds of millions of players across console, PC, and mobile.

To ensure long-term success for both Xbox and the industry as a whole, we must continue to evolve. Today we announced that we will expand the communities we reach: we are currently in the process of bringing four Xbox games to other platforms. These are titles which have been available to Xbox players for at least a year, including hidden gems that deserve to be experienced more widely, and live service games whose communities will benefit from welcoming even more players. We will share more details on these titles soon.

By bringing these games to more players, we not only expand the reach and impact of those titles, but this will allow us to invest in either future versions of these games, or elsewhere in our first-party portfolio. There is no fundamental change to our approach on exclusivity.

Likewise, our commitment to game preservation is unwavering. Xbox players should have confidence in building your digital library in the Xbox ecosystem.  We will continue to reward that with the most robust, player-friendly experiences, including backwards compatibility, cross-play, cross-save progression, convenient cloud gaming, and more. Xbox consoles will continue to provide a flagship experience for players; it’s where you get the best value and convenience, it’s where Game Pass provides unprecedented access to an ever-evolving library of games. To be clear: Game Pass will continue to be only available on Xbox platforms.

This is what it means to be part of Xbox:

    • The biggest games in the world will be on Xbox.
    • Our games will come to Game Pass day one
    • A robust and innovative multi-year hardware roadmap
    • Compatibility with your library is a priority, inclusive of cross-play, cross-save, and robust cloud features.
    • Xbox will continue to help game creators find the biggest audience possible.

Whether you’ve been with us since 2001, recently joined Game Pass to enjoy games like Starfield or Palworld, or are looking forward to the next season of Call of Duty, the creative teams at Xbox are stronger together – no matter where you play. Xbox will be around for decades to come – we hope you’ll join us on this journey.

  • The Xbox February Update is Starting to Roll Out

The Xbox February Update is Starting to Roll Out

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

    Summary

    • Touch controls enabled in Xbox remote play.
    • New thumbstick calibration tool for Xbox Wireless Controllers.
    • Improved filtering and sorting – My games & apps, and more.

Team Xbox continues to bring new ways to make Xbox better, with players at the center, as we refine the experience and deliver brand-new features based on player feedback. This month’s update offers touch controls enabled in Xbox remote play, and improved filtering and sorting in My games & apps. There’s a new thumbstick calibration tool for Xbox Wireless Controllers, and a new access restriction option to make it easier for many players to play on shared consoles in places like hospitals.

Touch controls enabled in Xbox remote play

Xbox Update - Xbox Remote Play Touch Enabled Asset

Want to play games when away from your console, but don’t have your Xbox Wireless Controller handy? No problem! Xbox remote play now supports custom touch control layouts on more than a hundred games when using the Xbox app on iOS, Android, and Windows devices. The same custom touch layouts available through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) will now be available when remotely playing games from your personal console. This includes games like Minecraft Dungeons, Psychonauts 2, Sea of Thieves, and many more. Additionally, a basic touch control layout can now be used for most other games.

New thumbstick recalibration tool for Xbox Wireless Controllers

Xbox Update - Thumbstick Calibration Asset

We’re excited to release a user-guided, self-calibration tool on the Xbox Accessories app that helps you to recalibrate thumbsticks for Xbox Wireless Controllers. This is part of Xbox’s continued investment in improving the repairability experience of controllers. To address minor thumbstick issues such as inconsistent responses, use the self-calibration tool in the Xbox Accessories app on console or PC to resolve issues without the need for support calls, controller repairs, or returns.

Xbox enables owners of Xbox Wireless Controllers to self-repair their devices by selling official replacement parts in the Microsoft Store. If you’re self-repairing your controller, the thumbstick recalibration tool should be used after you have replaced the controller’s base and circuit board, as that will likely disrupt thumbstick calibration values. Not all thumbstick issues can be resolved with this recalibration tool, including drift due to normal wear and tear.

Improved filtering and sorting – My games & apps

Xbox Update - New Filters My Games and Apps Asset

We’ve added new filters and sorts to My games & apps to help you find exactly what you’re looking for on your Xbox. You can now filter games by accessibility, supported languages, and technical features. For example, if you want to see which games are touch-enabled for remote play, you can filter by Technical features > Touch enabled and find your next game to play.

Additionally, subscription tabs in your full library have been updated to sort by Recently added, making it easier to see what’s new in subscriptions like Xbox Game Pass and EA Play. You can always adjust the sorting to find games to play in your library. Just head to My games & apps > Full library, and you’ll find all the new filtering and sorting options.

    Automatic profile sign-out

Xbox Update - Access Restrictions Asset

A new access restriction option has been created to make it easier to play on shared consoles in places like hospitals. Some children’s hospitals have programs to provide consoles that can be wheeled into a patient’s room and give them time to play and connect with friends. The new option makes it easier for player’s profiles to be deleted when they sign out, and it removes the need to check if patients have signed out of the consoles when the gaming cart gets moved between patients.

To view and adjust the new options, navigate to Settings > System > Access restrictions to allow use of the Edge web browser, set a Home console, and to delete profiles on sign-out.

Gear up and for a brand-new take on action-RPGs in Towerborne, a new adventure from Banner Saga developer Stoic and Xbox Games Publishing. Explore Enormous Open Worlds

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTcvtSfDkCM?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

There’s a reason open worlds are among gaming’s most popular places – the scope they offer for freedom, discovery, and self-expression are unmatched by most. Thankfully, there are some very big hitters coming in 2024. Star Wars Outlaws is the first-ever open world Star Wars game, set between the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Fight, steal, and outwit crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted. Final Fantasy XIV Online arrives on Xbox for the first time this year, welcoming you into its huge, beautiful MMO world, and inviting you to explore every inch with your friends.

2024 also sees the long-awaited return of two cult classic franchises with wide open worlds. Dragon’s Dogma 2 brings us another eldritch blast of Capcom’s unique action-RPG, mixing high fantasy with some truly outlandish combat – once you’ve taken down a cyclops with a meteor, you’ll know why people loved the first game quite so much. STALKER 2 (coming on day one to Game Pass) will reintroduce us to The Zone after many years away, asking you to explore a mutating world by way of intense, painstaking survival action.

    Strategize on an Epic Scale

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1I815PCKeE?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

If turn-based role playing fans thought they were eating good last year, with celebrated entries such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Sea of Stars, it’s time to loosen that belt another notch; a feast of massive adventures is on the menu in 2024. Following November’s more action-focused Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, RGG Studio shifts focus back to turn-based battle in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, out now. This one’s as epic as it is wacky, with a full island-building game embedded as an optional diversion from Ichiban’s adventures in Hawaii – the first game in the series set outside of Japan.  This week, Atlus revisits one of the most beloved RPGs of all time with Persona 3 Reload (coming on day one to Game Pass), complete with overhauled visuals, new music and voice performances, and modernized gameplay features.

Vaunted developer Vanillaware is known for its visually distinct RPGs, and it’s bringing its first-ever title to Xbox in March, the stunning tactical RPG Unicorn Overlord. The much-anticipated Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (coming on day one to Game Pass) promises an immersive JRPG experience with a focus on rich storytelling. Players can look forward to intricate town-upgrading mechanics and engaging combat, exploring a world brimming with diverse characters and compelling narratives. Finally, one of the most striking titles at last year’s Xbox Games Showcase, Metaphor: ReFantazio is a new fantasy RPG from some of the creative minds behind the Persona series.

    Prepare for More Fearful Encounters

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLWQDX5pbDM?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Horror is one of the most captivating genres in gaming. Designed to thrill while pulling you into a world of terror, these types of games have a way of staying with you even after the lights have come back on. 2024 might be upping this a notch with one of the masters of modern gaming horror, The Chinese Room, bringing us into their newest universe with Still Wakes the Deep (coming on day one to Game Pass). You’ll be stranded on a warping North Sea oil rig being seemingly consumed by a supernatural entity. Sounds fun; sign us up.

Some of these fearful encounters in 2024 will be returns to the familiar. Supermassive Games is taking the reins from Tarsier Studios with Little Nightmares III, bringing their horror pedigree to this beloved puzzle-platform horror adventure series. We’ll also be taking a return trip into Red Barrels’ excellent survival horror series with The Outlast Trials. One of the newest features there will be the opportunity to play with friends within the walls of a corporate-controlled sanitorium.

Speaking of returns, we’ll also be treated to a long-awaited arrival of a new Alone in the Dark, now with a reimagined take on a horror gaming classic starring David Harbour and Jodie Comer as playable protagonists.

    Traverse New Worlds

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7-3NsH82HA?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Perhaps one of the most exciting parts of gaming is finding a brand new series, and a brand new world, to explore, shape, and fall in love with. 2024 is going to offer many, many opportunities to do that, with multiple games marking the start of brand new journeys for players. From Xbox, Towerborne and Ara: History Untold are the beginning of brand-new series, but our partners are also bringing a bevy of new ideas to the table.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn weaves together brutal melee, gunplay, and magic for a fantasy narrative that looks strikingly original. Meanwhile, Dungeons of Hinterberg (coming to Game Pass on day one) will take us to a fantastical version of the Alps, The Plucky Squire will jump between 2D and 3D in its storybook world, and 33 Immortals (coming to Game Pass on day one) turns the action-roguelike template into a never-before-seen 33-player co-op experience.

    Dive Into a Simulation

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx8pehx8xvc?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Sometimes, the only thing better than getting lost in a new world is sculpting that world yourself – “simulator” can mean many things in gaming these days, and 2024 brings ample opportunity to sculpt an empire, or create peaceful hangouts along with friends.

In Manor Lords (coming on day one to PC Game Pass), dynamic, medieval settings meet real history in a fresh take on city-building and real time strategy. For a quieter adventure, take your mech for a stroll through the cozy cosmic hills of Lightyear Frontier (coming day one to Xbox Game Pass), an open-world farming adventure that can be explored alone or with friends.

And of course, as we mentioned above, Flight Simulator 2024 takes flight this year, so be sure to keep your eyes to the virtual skies (and Xbox Wire) for updates.

    Relive The Adventure

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGrYKr2MTMs?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Returning to a story you know and love can be the ultimate joy, and 2024 is packed with shiny new spins on some classic titles. Explore the depths in Tomb Raider I – III Remastered, which includes the first three games in the classic series complete with upgraded graphics. Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster also promises a triumphant return to a classic tale of good vs. evil, complete with stunning new visuals that’ll entice old and new Star Wars fans alike. Plus, you can relive an Xbox indie gem with Braid: Anniversary Edition, a lovingly updated version of the time-bending platformer, complete with charming new graphics, improved sound, and developer commentary.

    Jump Into Long-Awaited Returns

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWLNS0xq1yE?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Many of the stories and worlds that we already love are making big comebacks this year. Tekken 8 – out now – is on top form, with cutting edge combat, stunning visuals and a bombastic new story – it’s the perfect instalment for new and returning fighting fans to jump into.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 by The Chinese Room takes players to the dark underbelly of Seattle, where vampires struggle for survival and supremacy. As an Elder vampire, players meet compelling characters, navigate complex political relationships, stalk the streets for prey, and engage in intense combat to uncover the city’s secrets. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launches later this year, ending our 13-year wait to step back into the boots of Captain Titus as he hacks, slashes and boltguns through hordes of vicious Tyranids in a glorious sequel.

A fresh entry into the enchanting Mana series – and its first appearance on Xbox consoles – is also on the way. As we discovered during Developer_Direct, Visions of Mana promises a beautiful reimagining of the series’ vibrant worlds, breathtaking environments and heartwarming characters, all within an epic RPG.

Immerse Yourself in Unexpected Art Styles

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAx5NN0u5b4?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

First impressions are everything, and this year is bringing some games that will open your eyes as much as they expand your mind. In a true, ‘I never thought I’d see that in a game’ moment, Harold Halibut (coming to Game Pass on day one) is a handmade adventure built with traditional stop-motion techniques – imagine a playable Wes Anderson movie set on a submerged spaceship and you’re on the right track.

Rise of the Golden Idol is a sequel to the beloved (and truly bizarre) detective game Case of the Golden Idol, and brings with it a style that somehow fuses the painterly and the grotesque while evoking classic ’90s point ’n’ clicks. Open Roads (coming to Game Pass on day one) on the other hand blends a 3D world with beautiful, graphic novel-style characters to striking effect, helping to tell the story of a mother and daughter embarking on a road trip and uncovering long-lost family secrets.

Enjoy More From the Worlds You Love

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn6LlZSphpA?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

Of course, a game doesn’t stop growing when it’s released, and many of your favorites will continue to get new content throughout 2024. From the Xbox family, you can expect Starfield’s DLC expansion, Shattered Space, later this year – not to mention new seasons and updates for the likes of Sea of Thieves, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Call of Duty: Warzone, Diablo IV, Halo Infinite, Overwatch 2, The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, Grounded, Minecraft, and more. That’s not to mention our games on other platforms, such as World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Call of Duty: Mobile.

From our partners, you can of course expect Fortnite to continue to grow in truly unexpected ways, Destiny 2 will receive its epochal The Final Shape expansion, and Apex Legends will celebrate its fifth anniversary. That’s not to mention the likes of Grand Theft Auto Online, the EA Sports catalogue, Rainbow Six Siege, and many, many more.

    Keep Discovering With Game Pass

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rUEWRG8hp8?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

With all of these new games on the way, don’t forget that Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass already contain hundreds of titles for you to try out – your new favorite game might already be waiting for you. Encompassing console, PC, and cloud (with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate), Game Pass offers new games, new genres, and new ideas, wherever you want to play.

2023 saw some incredible games join the service, and 2024 will be no different. We’ve already started strong with the likes of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Resident Evil 2, and many more joining Game Pass in January, and the year ahead is looking very good – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Persona 3 Reload, Manor Lords are just a few of the titles on their way. Make sure to check back with Xbox Wire to find out what’s coming, and when.

  • Palworld Becomes the Biggest 3rd Party Game Pass Launch Ever

Palworld Becomes the Biggest 3rd Party Game Pass Launch Ever

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

    Summary

    • Palworld has been played by more than 7M players on Xbox, and is the biggest 3rd party launch in Game Pass history.
    • Palworld is the most-played 3rd party day one release via cloud gaming with Game Pass Ultimate.
    • Palworld (Game Preview) is out now for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC, and is available with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.

It’s no secret that Palworld has been sweeping the gaming world since its Early Access launch earlier this month – and we’re happy to announce that, in its first ten days as part of Xbox Game Preview, Xbox players have made it the biggest 3rd party Game Pass launch in history! You’ve also helped Palworld to become the most-played 3rd party day one launch on Xbox Cloud Gaming with Game Pass Ultimate.

Across console and Windows PC, Palworld has welcomed more than 7 million players, and has recently reached a peak of nearly 3 million daily active users on Xbox, making it the most-played game on our platforms at that time.

Speaking to Xbox Wire, CEO of developer Pocketpair, Takuro Mizobe, said: “The response from fans has been tremendous and it’s incredible to see the millions of players around the world enjoying Palworld. This is just the beginning for us and Palworld, and the feedback we’re gathering while in Game Preview will allow us to continue to improve the experience for Pal Tamers across all platforms.”

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV0zfAwazcs?feature=oembed&w=500&h=281]

For those yet to become a Pal Tamer themselves, Palworld is an online open world game that sees players dropped into a mysterious land and given the ability to capture over 100 Pals, monsters with a range of abilities – both in battle, and in surviving in a hostile world. Battling, crafting, building are all a part of the experience, and it’s proven a huge draw for players across the world.

Palworld is available in the Xbox Game Preview program, meaning there’s much more to come as Pocketpair refine the experience ahead of a full 1.0 release. Developers are listening to player feedback, and have started applying their learnings to the game already – and they know cross-play is one of the largest requests from fans, and are working quickly to address it.

On Xbox’s part, we’re working with Pocketpair to help provide support for Xbox versions of the game. We’re providing support to enable dedicated servers, offering engineering resources to help with GPU and memory optimization, speeding up the process to make Palworld updates available for players, and working with the team to optimize the title for our platform.

Palworld is available now for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC through the Game Preview program. It’s available for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass members, and can be played through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.

  • A Little to the Left: Learn About the Beloved Puzzler Coming to Game Pass in February

A Little to the Left: Learn About the Beloved Puzzler Coming to Game Pass in February

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

    Summary

    • A Little to the Left comes to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and via Game Pass on February 15.
    • Play on mobile devices for the first time via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
    • Learn more about this peaceful puzzle game with our five reasons to check it out.

Hey there, I’m Annie, co-founder of Max Inferno, a studio I started with my partner Lukas Steinman. Lukas and I have always loved making things together – Halloween costumes, scavenger hunts, dance moves, pun-induced groans, and poorly rhyming cooking songs. When the opportunity arose to make our first game, A Little to the Left, we never imagined it would sell over a million copies in its first year, and win the hearts of such a wide audience.

This experience has allowed us to continue to do what we love, and our game’s journey is about to take another big leap, as it’s coming to Xbox on February 15 with Xbox Game Pass. Here’s why we think you’ll love our tidy little puzzler.

    Peaceful Puzzling

A Little to the Left is all about tidying messes into pleasing arrangements, without worrying about timers or fail-states. It’s peaceful and accessible, with simple controls that anyone can quickly understand. We took a lot of inspiration from our own lives to make this game, which is why many of the objects you’ll be sorting are based on things in our home… like the clock my dad gave me that I mustn’t forget to wind every Wednesday, or a funny bird lamp from Lukas’s grandmother. Please be careful when handling the glassware, that was a gift as well…

Cleanliness is in the Eye of the Beholder

Some puzzles in A Little to the Left have multiple solutions, which offer players different ways of seeing. It’s fun to have to switch one’s method of observation, as everyone seems to have a different take at first glance. If you need any help, we implemented a fun hint system that lets you erase just as much of the hint that you want to see. You can also use the option to “Let It Be” and skip a puzzle entirely. Don’t worry, you won’t miss anything by choosing to move on from a level – you can skip every single puzzle in the game if you just want to see what comes next.

    Cat’s on the Table

We know cats play by their own rules, and it’s precisely this irreverence to our imposed will that makes us love them even more. Throughout A Little to the Left, you’ll sometimes see your carefully cleaned puzzles ruined by a playful cat, who swipes away your hard work just when you think you’re finished. The cat is based on our own cat, Rookie – who continues to surprise us daily with new tactics, and who reminds us to not take ourselves too seriously.

    From the Sofa to Space

The start of the game presents rather mundane items to sort. These are relatable situations, like that junk drawer a lot of people have, or the act of fixing a slightly crooked picture frame. As the game progresses, there is a sense of absurdity that grows, as to what things are to be tidied, and how. Later, you’re asked to fix the reflections in a mirror or fast-forward time to perfectly line up a shadow. These later levels may make you wonder about the nature of control… They’re also some of our favorite puzzles in the game – we hope you like them too!

    Touch to Tidy

We’re very excited to be a part of Xbox Game Pass and to share our game with the massive audience of gaming fans on Xbox. Being part of Xbox Game Pass also allows us to bring A Little to the Left to mobile devices for the first time, thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming’s Native Touch controls. You can grab and move objects with your hands, or use a compatible controller on the go if you prefer. From the beginning, we wanted every control scheme to feel great to use, so we hope you try them both out and see which you prefer.

A Little to the Left comes to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One with Xbox Game Pass on February 15. The main game will also launch alongside our DLC, Cupboards & Drawers (available separately for $5.99), which includes over 25 new levels and adds extra layers of complexity with tons of objects to tidy into tight spaces and secret compartments. We hope you have a great time discovering our game and experiencing the funny little moments throughout it – we had a lot of fun making it together and are so grateful to have had the opportunity.

    OPERATION: SPIRIT OF FIRE

As part of today’s update, all players will receive the classic Mark IV Armor Core for free. Simply jump into the game and you’ll find it waiting for you in the Armor Hall.

This fan-favorite armor has appeared in the likes of Halo Wars and Halo Wars 2, Halo Legends, Halo 5: Guardians, and now this legendary iteration of Mjolnir has come to Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite image of three Spartans clad in Mark IV armor

And what better way to kick off the update than with the opportunity to further outfit the Mark IV Armor Core?

Enter Operation: Spirit of Fire, which runs from January 30 to March 5 and features 20 tiers of free customization rewards, including new armor attachments, coatings, weapon charms, emblems, and more.

You know the drill with Operations now: in addition to the free pass, there are two additional premium options you can purchase.

    • 500 credits will make the Operation Pass durable (it will not expire), offers bonus XP during the Operation’s live window, an extra Challenge slot while your pass is equipped, and comes with an exclusive customization item.
    • 2,000 credits instantly unlocks all 20 tiers of the Operation Pass at purchase and includes the exclusive bonus customization item.

The bonus customization item for this Operation is the Evolved MA5—a weapon model for your Assault Rifle that will transform the sleek and modern MA40 into the classically chunky design reminiscent of the MA5B seen in Halo: CE and Halo Wars.

Halo Infinite screenshot of a Spartan in Mark IV armor holding an Assault Rifle with the Evolved MA5 weapon model

When the Spirit of Fire Operation concludes on March 5, there are still two more free Operations that will take us through April 30!

    CYBER SHOWDOWN III
    MARCH 5-APRIL 2

Themed around the concept of a “viral machine,” the latest exploration of these Created champions veers more into the realm of cybernetic horror that reflects the twisted nature of their creation. Jump into Halo Infinite on March 5 to unlock 20 tiers of new customization rewards for your CHIMERA Armor Core.

    THE YAPPENING II
    APRIL 2-APRIL 30

The Yappening II arrives in April to help you celebrate the season of fools with 20 tiers of Grunty goodness.

    ILLUSION

Today’s update also brings a brand-new map to Halo Infinite, titled Illusion.

Illusion takes place within an abandoned ONI black site where old experiments with recovered (and familiar) Covenant technology remain.

Described as a love letter to the map design of Halo: Combat Evolved, Illusion features a unique mid-section where a corridor possesses the traits of active camouflage—so players who go into the center will turn invisible.

    MULTI-USE SHOULDER CUSTOMIZATION

Our multi-use journey for Halo Infinite’s customization continues with the addition of shoulder pads that can be equipped across any Armor Core.

Like before, this multi-use expansion of armor works retroactively, so all of your current shoulder pads are multi-core enabled and all shoulders going forward will be multi-core as well.

Following on from work that has been accomplished over previous updates to make helmets, visors, and many coatings multi-core, there are now billions of possible combinations available in Halo Infinite. We can’t wait to see the latest and greatest Spartan drip out on the battlefield!

    FORGE UPDATES

Forge continues to evolve as we target highly requested additions, enhancements, and quality-of-life improvements. Here are some of the highlights of the new toys you’re able to play with in Halo Infinite’s Forge:

    COVENANT OBJECT PALETTE

Halo Infinite screenshot of the Covenant object palette coming in CU29

Need more purple? Over 70 new Covenant-themed structure pieces, primitives, accents, and decals are now available for Forgers to create exciting experiences that harken back to Halo’s roots.

    FORGE MODE CREATOR

Halo Infinite screenshot of the Action Menu showing the option to Create Mode Prefab

This new functionality allows players to script modes in the Node Graph like a prefab, then save, share, and play those experiences—just like you would share a mode created in the Custom Game menu.

The Forge Mode Creator will make it easier for modes to be shared and played, hooked up to community maps, and free up map budget (as mode logic will no longer come with a map budget cost).

To learn more about the ins and outs of the Forge Mode Creator (along with a more thorough breakdown of other additions and improvements), check out our Forge Overview blog!

    MATERIAL SWAP

Players can now adjust up to three colors on select foliage objects and add further set dressing and detail to their maps with decals that mimic stains, foliage overgrowth, and more.

The Year of the Dragon is Here.

People born on a Dragon year are said to be full of energy and drive; the Horizon Festival is no different of course!

From tracks to props, dragons will flood the Festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year along with many other features to discover.

    Crouching Tiger, Drifting Dragon

The Stadium twists and turns into a Drift Arena!

Whatever path you decide to take on this track, be true to yourself. The Drift Arena’s curves and bends will have you using every ancient secret of drifting to go on a complete lap. Driving around certain areas of the raceway or near its corners will trigger a smoke effect. Hold your drift, don’t let it catch you off guard!

Besides the myriad of tight corners, multiple red dragons dance through the course creating rings you can drive through. Keep exploring the Stadium and find the Fireworks Collectible hidden inside it.

A Dragon watches over as you burn rubber in the tight corners and twists of the Drift Arena!

Watch a Dragon Dance Done the Horizon Way.

Once you are done burning rubber, the Drift Arena will be hosting a Drone Show at night during the four weeks of Lunar New Year starting on February 1.

During daytime, drones will turn into traditional lanterns that will line up in the pattern of a dragon and prance along the sky as the drones do at night.

    2022 Lynk & Co 05+

Reading a plus sign at the end of a car’s name can only mean one thing: it’s time to ramp up the crazy.

Adding 14 more horsepower and 29 lb-ft of torque, the 2022 Lynk & Co 05+ does exactly that, turning a regular SUV into a crossover vehicle with a need for the track.

The Co 05+ has been fitted with a multi-link independent suspension system and a new body kit with wings and a front lip to improve downforce.

Lynk & Co’s signature SUV has the power, styling, and gear to take over the Horizon Festival this series!

    2023 MG Cyberster

The spiritual successor of MG’s TF is finally here with a dash of Chinese spice and three times to power to make the wait worthwhile.

2022 Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Macaron

What is not to love about the 2022 Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Macaron? Agile body, lovely name (translates to sunshine in English), electrically- powered, a paintjob you can almost taste…this lovely macaron is a warrior of the concrete jungle!

They say, “simplicity is the key to brilliance”, and this small vehicle is designed to deal with everyday urban challenges took it as its core. This practical little car is in the race to become number 1 in your heart.

Turn this panda into the ultimate Dragon Warrior with a few customization tweaks and skadoosh around the Horizon Festival this series!

    2012 Volkswagen Santana

The German wonder that stole China’s heart, the 2012 Volkswagen Santana is arriving to the Horizon Festival this series.

    Festival Playlist

Four weeks of great luck and rewards come in with Lunar New Year.

This month’s reward cars feature Horizon newcomers from the Asian continent including Hyundai, Lynk & Co, and MG.

Take a look at five amazing reward cars you will be able to unlock this series.

    2022 Hyundai Kona

The first week of this Festival Playlist brings a crossover SUV from Korea, the turbocharged and freshly overhauled 2022 Hyundai Kona.

The 2022 model received a very fitting makeover with its exterior being almost entirely a new design with more sportive lines and finishes. To wrap up the changes and upgrades, the Kona was fitted with a 195-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Whether you want to turn the Kona into an off-roading legend or have it perform at its best on the road, you will be able to unlock and modify it to your pleasing for 20 PTS on the first week of the Festival Playlist.

    2022 Hyundai IONIQ 6

The performance model in Hyundai’s line of electric vehicles will reach the Horizon Festival as a Series Reward for Lunar New Year.

The 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 6 is an EV with an aerodynamic look and function that not only makes it run more efficiently, but it also allows it to perform like a sports saloon on the track. The IONIQ 6 can take off from standstill to 100 kmh in just 5.1 seconds.

An electric car that screams performance with its flaps, aerodynamic mirrors, and wheel gap reducers, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is a great pick for those looking to use less gas and still be fast.

    2022 Lynk & Co 02 HB

Yes, you guessed right: HB stands for hatchback, which is another word for “I’m going to have so much fun in this car”.

The 2022 Lynk & Co 02 HB is the Chinese company’s shot at giving the world a hot hatch they can Phoenix dance in. This model is equipped with the Volvo Drive-E 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that we have seen in the Swedish company’s S60, XC70, and V70.

To put their own spin to it, the 02 comes with an overpower option that boosts its torque from 350 Nm to 380 Nm, and let’s this small powerhouse dash from 0 to 100 in 6.2 seconds.

Drift Arena and a hot hatch, need we say more?

    2020 Hyundai i30N

More power, more responsiveness, and a sportier body kit; the 2020 Hyundai i30N is getting front of line to become your favorite hatchback to drive around the Horizon Festival.

A 2.0 – liter, 4-cylinder turbo engine capable of producing 353 Nm of torque along with its brand-new 8-speed dual clutch transmission makes this car worthy of an invitation to the hot hatch party that takes place every day at the Festival.

Not straying too far away from its five-door rivals, the i30N can hit a top speed of 250 kmh and reach 100 from nothing in 6.1 seconds.

If not for all the fun a stock hatchback can bring, unlock this car for 20 PTS on the third week of Lunar New Year and see what kinds of sauce you can add with your own customization.

    2023 MG MG7

Another one of MG’s staples makes a revamped comeback in the 2023 MG MG7. This new version of a classic comes with a design that puts together luxury and sportive performance.

The new MG7 is geared with a 2.0-liter turbo engine capable of putting out 257 hp and producing 405 Nm of torque, catering to fans of speed; and packs it up inside a stylish outside design.

The return of the MG should be celebrated along with the New Year, and we do not know a better way to do this than taking it to the track and scoring some fast times.
