For Star Wars Day on May 4, Australia-based brick fanatics and brothers Dan and Chris Steininger used 250,000 bricks to create the world’s largest LEGO model of Han Solo’s iconic spacecraft over the span of 2-days. It measures in at 5-meters (16-feet) wide making it the largest to date, while two additional TIE fighters were also constructed alongside the spacecraft with 80,000 bricks, each standing 2-meters (6.6-feet) tall. You can view it live until May 10 at the Westfield Southland shopping center in Cheltenham.

Dan Steininger says: „Usually models the size of the Millennium Falcon can take more than a week to build, and it was thanks to the Aussie fans that we were able to build a model of this size in such a short time. This model was ground-breaking for Lego because of the way it stretches out wide. Normally when we build big Lego builds they stand tall, so this was both an exciting and challenging experience for Chris and myself. It was very inspiring to see thousands of Melbournians come together, dress up, play and help build these iconic Star Wars vehicles – we certainly couldn’t have finished without them.“

Batkid Begins: Saves ‚Gotham,‘ Captivates Internet

The streets of San Francisco — sorry, Gotham City — went absolutely insane Friday for a 5-year-old boy named Miles.

Miles has leukemia, and his fondest wish was to be Batman for a day. The Make-a-Wish Foundation obliged, setting up several scenarios around the city involving two of Gotham’s greatest enemies, The Penguin and The Riddler. At last count nearly 15,000 San Franciscans had signed up online to play the grateful onlookers.

Result: cheering crowds comparable in size to the ones that gathered when the San Francisco Giants won the World Series.

Batkid’s journey began Friday morning, as he met Batman and the (donated) Lamborghini Batcar he would be driven around in for the day:
