Ahem… ‘scuse me, is this thing on?

Hey there! Chris here from the Stampede: Racing Royale team. We’re super excited to bring our upcoming free-to-play racing game to Xbox Insider Program today! Like, right now! If you’re wondering what in the world this is all about, sit back, grab a snack, and let me give you the elevator pitch…

Developed by the racing veterans and all-round swell folks at Sumo Leamington, Stampede: Racing Royale combines the fun and thrill of kart racing, with the tension, competition, and social shenanigans of a battle royale. Imagine dropping into a go-kart and racing in 60-player online events (yes, sixty!), avoiding elimination across three rounds, and competing to become the ultimate champion. Throw in a variety of wild power-ups to deploy, incredible maps to master, and different modes like Battle and Zombies, and you’ve got yourself a tasty cocktail known as ‘Stampede: Racing Royale’.

There’s no point in racing well if you don’t look good doing it, either. This early version of the game already includes over 450 different customisation items to discover, earn, and equip for both your kart and character. From cheese wheels, to pirate costumes, to wearing an octopus on your head (they’re called Ollie!), play and progress to stand out on the track with the rarest and wildest gear.

We may be early on in Stampede’s journey, but there’s still plenty to keep you coming back for one more match. Special Events will mix things up with different scenarios and limited-time rewards to earn. Account levels and kart progression will see you unlock Rare and Legendary gear to show off. Challenges are there to, err, challenge you to complete objectives and win more goodies.

There’s so much more that Stampede will be serving up over time, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves. With Early Access kicking off later this year, joining Xbox Insider Program is an opportunity for our wonderful dev team to preview fresh features and additions, and a chance for you to test-drive what we’re building. Whether you’re on Xbox Series X|S or Windows PC, head to the Xbox Insider Hub now, find Stampede: Racing Royale, and jump into the action.

Whilst progress and unlocks unfortunately can’t be carried over once Early Access begins, we wanted to make sure your support for Stampede is rewarded. Play at any time via the Xbox Insider Program and, in a future version of Stampede, we’ll drop an exclusive gift into your account, available only to Xbox Insiders. Just make sure you’re playing on the same Xbox account you used for Xbox Insiders to redeem it.

Our first public playtests in 2023 allowed us to make improvements driven by community feedback, and we’ll be doing exactly the same with Xbox Insider Program. Keep an eye out for surveys and announcements in the Xbox Insider Hub to give your opinion, and share your thoughts on our official Discord server – or just hang out with us there. We’re cool, honest…

Stampede: Racing Royale is all about conquering the chaos with friends and against the world, making memories with fast-paced automotive shenanigans. The 10,000-IQ plays, the epic fails, the sick drifts – all that stuff. So, grab some friends, play, stream, give us your hot takes, and be part of the wildest racing event in existence. Now, where did I leave that homing missile…?

  • Fool Them Twice in My Hero Ultra Rumble: Villain Twice Joins The Roster

Fool Them Twice in My Hero Ultra Rumble: Villain Twice Joins The Roster

    Reading Time: 5 minutes

A New Villain will be joining My Hero Ultra Rumble from February 21, 2024.

A bit high-strung and not overly coherent in word and deed, but he’s a villain who loves his friends – Twice joins the rumble!

My Hero Ultra Rumble has many characters with visuals and Quirks that are faithful to the original manga. Twice is one of them, and players can experience the same skill as shown in the original, including the iconic skill that create alter egos with the Quirk “Twice”.

We’re thrilled to bring this popular character to this battle royale. Here to tell you more is our game producer, Aoba Miyazaki, who has put together some tips and insights on the Twice character development so you can maximize, and dare we say, duplicate your best efforts with his Quirk!

    Skill Introduction

Defeat your opponent, get their measurements, and create clones of yourself or your enemies with your Quirk when you choose Twice.

The charm of Twice in the original story has been incorporated into his techniques as a playable character,” says Miyazaki. “He has a tricky special action that lets him duplicate the enemy, and we hope you will use it to cause mischief and add a new element of excitement to your battles.”

“We put a lot of effort into keeping his voice and visuals to be authentic and just as appealing as the original, and we hope you will connect with him in game!”

    Quirk Skill – Dagger Shot

Feature: Long-range attack utilizing multiple thrown knives. Strike your opponent in a burst of blades.

Tips: As you will be throwing multiple knives, it is possible to limit the opponent’s movement by aiming for hit stops with multiple hits.

While the Quirk Skill is hitting, and the opponent’s movement is slowing down, work together with your allies to inflict massive damage.

    Quirk Skill – Self Duplicate

Feature: Create a clone of yourself. Clones disappear after approaching and attacking an opponent.

Tips: When fighting in an area with many objects, use them to hide yourself or get out of sight of your opponent, and aggressively use the Quirk Skill to confuse your opponent by attacking in such a way that they cannot tell whether you are the main body or an alter ego.

    Quirk Skill – Foot Boost

Feature: Move in the direction of your extended measuring tape and use knife to attack. It can be used as a means of transportation, as it can travel to the tip of the tape measure.

Tips: Since it can also be used to move vertically, this Quirk Skill can be used while looking up to move on top of buildings in the new U.A. Island stage, which has many buildings. The Quirk Skill can be used for both surprise attacks and evacuation, allowing the user to move freely around the stage.

    Special Action – Mud Imitation

Feature: Deals the final blow to a downed opponent and creates a clone of them. The clone will remain active until they are defeated or the opponent is revived.

Tips: The HP of the alter ego created by a Special Action is based on the character’s HP. Currently, there is no upper limit to the number of alter egos that can be created by a Special Action, so Twice players can actively aim to create alter egos of characters with high HP and overwhelm the battlefield.

PUR Costume for Twice – Paper Bag Disguise

This costume is from the original anime, and it is faithfully reproduced down to the handles of the paper bag.

The costume also comes in color variations original to the game. We hope players will have fun expressing themselves by unlocking color variations that suit their personal styles.

And there you have it! Confuse your opponents and overwhelm the battlefield with countless imitations of your fallen foes when Twice joins the fray on February 21.

  • Warzone 2.0 introduces triple Circle Collapse, aquatic combat, new Gulag fights, and more

Warzone 2.0 introduces triple Circle Collapse, aquatic combat, new Gulag fights, and more

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Call of Duty: Warzone is making its grand return as part of the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. After becoming a prominent player in the battle royale genre, the spinoff is receiving a sequel update dubbed Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. This new entry gives fans of the original more free-for-all action and adds new innovations to the pre-existing Warzone formula that shift certain familiarities and adds even more surprises to the genre.

With an all-new map filled with diverse terrain and vehicle options, Warzone 2.0 offers a remixed and more refined experience than before. Strategies will change and become more varied, new locations will join your routes, and a new Circle Collapse feature throws everyone into memorable Warzone finales. Alongside all this, every single upgrade from Modern Warfare II’s engine is also present.

Where are we dropping, and how are we traveling?

Warzone 2.0 is taking players to a new location called Al Mazrah. This sprawling map elevates Warzone exploration to a new level. The free-for-all island has you venturing across deserts, towns, cities, and everything in between. How you advance through this vast land is up to you and what terrain and vehicles you find.

This entry in the Warzone universe expands on the previous vehicular and travel options. Wheeled land vehicles are no longer the only option. Want to take to the skies with your squad in a helicopter? You’re free to do so. Want to take a slow destructive approach in a tank? Go for it. And like in Modern Warfare II, players have new aquatic combat options and can use boats to travel by water.

Remember to keep an eye on your fuel gauge because each vehicle can run out of fuel, forcing you to refill at a gas station.

A new way to plan your route

Another significant change coming to Warzone 2.0 is how you find items in Al Mazrah. Gear is now placed more logically and realistically throughout the world. For example, Stims and Medical Syringes are stored in medicine cabinets, while weapons and other equipment are typically in armories and military bases. This new placement philosophy is consistent across all of Warzone 2.0’s loot, challenging you to look to specific areas to gather necessary supplies.

Though it seems minor initially, these new placements shift your travel routes and offer a new way to play Warzone. Instead of going from one random location to the next, you may want to map out a path that hits more gas stations to fill up your vehicle or look to areas where you can gather more medical supplies. Like the inclusion of more vehicles, this change adds yet another strategic layer that’ll shift how you play.

Enemies can become allies or your final boss

The Gulag has changed substantially since you’ve been away. A new rule forces you to put your second life in the hands of a possible future foe. Instead of fighting alone to return to the battle, you’ll sometimes team up with a rival player. You can use their help to either defeat the other team or go for another Gulag escape objective by defeating the AI combatant known as “The Jailer”, who holds the key to your escape.

The dynamic circle system is another way you may cross paths with more opponents. This new Circle Collapse randomly shifts Al Mazrah’s safe zones. Instead of always being a single circle of safety that every player must fight to remain within, the zone occasionally splits into multiple circles. The teams that survive within the separate circles then get corralled into the final single circle to end the match in dramatic fashion. This last singular zone serves as the battleground for each remaining team. This gameplay twist gives a final boss-like vibe to showdowns against human-controlled teams stocked up on the best look they can find.

Prepare to jump into Warzone 2.0 when it lands on PS5 and PS4 on November 16.

  • Apex Legends Season 9: A look at 3v3 Arena mode, the highflying Valkyrie, and more

Apex Legends Season 9: A look at 3v3 Arena mode, the highflying Valkyrie, and more

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

Respawn Entertainment has much in store for fans with Apex Legends Season 9, coming to the free-to-play battle royale on May 4. We’ve got the lowdown on a new round-based 3v3 mode called Arena, a jetpack-equipped Legend named Valkyrie, the Bocek Compound Bow, as well as an update to the Olympus map.

Apex Legends Season 9: A look at 3v3 Arena mode, the highflying Valkyrie, and more

A close look at Season 9: Trails of Heroes

    The new Arena Mode

In this new 3v3 mode, players compete against each other on a close-quarters map.

    How it works

Each round is decided by eliminating the enemy team (of course), with the final victory decided by winning at least three rounds and gaining a margin of victory of at least two rounds. Sudden death decides the final winner on the 9th round when both teams are deadlocked at four wins each. That means that each game has a minimum of three rounds and a maximum of nine.

    Buying Phase

Each round begins with a buying phase, which lets players arm themselves with weapons, consumables such as healing items, projectiles, and even abilities — just make sure you have the materials to pay for it. Get ready for a big departure from dropping into the map and collecting gear as you go.

Weapons start out in their basic form with no add-ons, and by purchasing additional upgrades, you can go up from level 1 to level 3 and add a scope of your choice. However, weapons cannot be carried over to the next round, and must be repurchased with each buying phase.

You’ll only be allowed to use Tactical Abilities and Ultimate Abilities in each round. Tactical Abilities start with a limited number of rounds, but you can stock up on more charges during the buying phase. Unspent abilities carry over to the next round.

Materials required for purchase are provided as round bonuses, and can also be earned by extracting them from devices or by killing enemies. The round bonus also increases as the fight progresses, giving you more options for more powerful weapons, upgrades, and ability charges.

The choices you make in the buying phase play a huge role in overall strategy. In the first round, you only have enough materials to buy your best weapon type and one recovery (you start equipped with armor and helmets). The more you earn in round bonuses, the more you can buy as the game progresses. You can upgrade your weapons, add attachments, recharge your abilities, and make more choices. In the final rounds of the game, both teams will be well-equipped for an epic, high-level battle.

    Maps in Arena Mode

Arena maps are small, but like Battle Royale, the ring closes at regular intervals and constricts the battlefield. Supply boxes are scattered around the map containing recovery items and supplies. Combat takes place in a rotation of locales, including the new Party Crusher and Phase Runner maps developed specifically for this mode.

    Party Crusher

Party Crusher is a versatile map designed for all types of battles, as you fight for a corner of the Mirage Voyage or Bonsai Plaza.

    Phase Runner

The Phase Runner map will have the same portal features found in Olympus. Phase Runner focuses on medium to long range combat, where players can fight from either the construction site or the entrance/exit of the map.

In addition to the new maps, there will also be custom locations for existing battle royale maps, such as the Turret in Kings Canyon, the Thermal Power Plant in World’s Edge, and the Garden in Olympus.

    New Legend: Valkyrie

The latest legend, Valkyrie, is the daughter of Viper, the famed Titan pilot from Titanfall 2. Valkyrie’s jetpack, reconstructed from the wreckage of Viper’s Northstar Titan, gives her the ability to temporarily fly over the battlefield and rain down a barrage of missiles. When danger abounds, she can use her Ultimate Ability to quickly retreat into the sky, and if an ally on her team grabs her, she can carry them up into the air with her.

    VTOL Jet

Activate the jetpack in mid-air and spend the energy gauge to fly. You won’t be able to shoot while the jets are activated, but you can open fire while letting off the gas.

    Missile Swarm

This ability fires multiple small rockets in a specified area, dealing damage and stunning enemies. Missile Swarm can also be activated while the VTOL jet is in flight. Bombarding an area deals less damage than you might expect. On the other hand, it does stun enemies hit by it for a short period of time, so it could be used to support your allies.

    Skyward Dive

Two teammates can accompany Valkyrie on the Skyward Dive by approaching her while preparing to fire and performing an action. This maneuver also lets you quickly spot your enemies’ positions.

After ascending with the Skyward Dive Ultimate Ability, enemies caught in view during the skydive will automatically be marked and shared with your allies. Although you can’t see beyond shields, the ability to mark enemies as soon as you see them is powerful.

    A Note from Respawn

Lead game designer Daniel Klein says Valkyrie’s ability to fly with a jetpack is both exciting and effective. But the big question is how to keep matches balanced. Respawn has accounted for that. First of all, you can’t fly forever; if you run out of energy, you will plummet. And the jetpack is so loud that it may expose Valkyrie to nearby enemies. Guns and grenades also aren’t usable while Valkyrie is in jet flight. All these adjustments were made to keep the game fair. Respawn recommends flying somewhat erratically when playing Valkyrie, to make yourself a harder target mid flight.

    Bocek Compound Bow

The new Bocek Bow is a powerful and deadly Marksman Weapon from medium range. It’s capable of precision shooting and uses a new type of arrow ammunition. As with all bows, damage is increased by drawing back the arrow and timing the shot. Reloading isn’t a worry with the bow, as you can keep firing until your arrow reserves run dry. Ejected arrows can also be retrieved.

The Bocek Bow has two hop-up slots that can be used in different ways. The Deadeye’s Tempo increases the speed of the bow if you time your shot perfectly. The Shutter Cap spreads the arrows like a shotgun.

    Update on Olympus

Olympus, a map introduced in Season 7, gets an update with Season 9. The Icarus, a suspicious ship that entered the atmosphere of the planet Psamathe from outside the realm, has docked at Olympus along with an unidentified parasitic plant. The landscape, infested with giant roots at the point of descent, provides players with a new gameplay experience throughout the map. Massive vines wrap around entire buildings, creating new paths and vantage points.

Inside the ship, you will also find the bodies of the fallen scientists. Search them to find keycards, which will unlock top-grade loot hidden in the Icarus.

    Get Ready for Season 9

Valkyrie takes flight, along with Arena Mode, the Bocek Bow, and more when Apex Legends Season 9 launches May 4.

  • Apex Legends Saison 9: Seid ihr bereit für den 3v3 Arena Mode?

Apex Legends Saison 9: Seid ihr bereit für den 3v3 Arena Mode?

    Reading Time: 6 minutes

    Saison 9: Trails of Heroes
