I Upcycle Old Louis Vuitton Bags Into Star Wars Sculptures

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

My name is Gabriel Dishaw, my passion for working with metal and mechanical objects has been essential in the evolution of my art. It provides me an avenue to express myself in a way that brings new life to materials such as typewriters, adding machines and old computers – technology that would normally end up in a landfill. My mission is to create dialogue and help find creative, environmentally sound ways of re-purposing e-waste.

This project was all about upcycling old Louis Vuitton bags into Star Wars sculptures. I used different pieces for some of them – mainly Louis Vuitton luggage and other upcycled materials, such as cables, computer chips, wire, gears, wire, and adding machine parts.

Star Wars Actor Mark Hamill Just Proved Everyone Who Said ‘It Wouldn’t Last’ Wrong In A Powerful Tweet

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

A few days ago, people around the world celebrated the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi but Luke Skywalker’s alter ego Mark Hamill had another glorious reason to raise a toast. It has been 39 years since he and Marilou York got married, and the force is strong with their Hollywood-romance-trends-defying love.

Mark met York when she was working as a dental hygienist in Westwood, Los Angeles. “She came into the waiting room in jeans, white coat, breasts like melons, looking like a Vargas painting,” Mark told People magazine in 1981. “I said, ‘They let you dress like that at work?’ She said, ‘Yeah. Next.’”

Hamill said it was ‘love at first laugh:’ “I took her to Annie Hall to see if she had a sense of humor. I dropped women if they didn’t. There was this one close-up of a minor character, curling his lips back from his teeth. She leaned over to me and whispered, ‘Bad caps.’”

Mark and Marilou took their vows on December 17, 1978, when he was 26 and she was 23. They have three children together: Nathan (born 1979), Griffin (1983), and Chelsea Elizabeth (1988).

Artists started drawing in 2016 and have been doing it since then, constantly surprising people with their work. They usually draw various characters from their favorite cartoons or movies, such as the production of Hayao Miyazaki, Alice in Wonderland, or Minions. ELLE Brazil Recreates 5 Iconic Paintings With Real People, And The Results Are Impressive

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

We’ve seen many recreations of famous artwork over the last couple of years, each time breathing new life into all-too-familiar landscapes. The purpose of each recreation differs from one another, bringing out the details and ideas one might not have noticed before. The team behind ELLE Brasil decided to pay a tribute to the most famous pieces of artwork with a statement that art is the antidote to negativity in life.

The magazine invited world famous Brazillian figures to help them recreate the art pieces. They chose actress Sonia Braga to replicate the famous smile of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa with a recreation that represents timeless beauty. The gentle femininity in Sandro Botticelli’s Birth Of Venus was embodied by transgender model Lea T. Love was captured in Gustav Klimt’s recreation of The Kiss with actors Tais Araujo and Lázaro Ramos holding one another all wrapped up in gold. The magazine turned the mood of Edvard Munch’s The Scream upside down by letting Brazilian theater legend José Celso Martinez Corrêa scream of joy rather than fear. The picture of composer Caetano Veloso that pays homage to David Hockney’s Joiners symbolizes the movement and perspective that art brings to life.

Scroll down to see the side-by-side comparisons of the famous originals and the beautiful covers of the magazine, which hits the stands the coming Monday.

This ‘Ghost Clock’ Hidden Under A Sheet In A Museum Looks Ordinary Only Until You Read The Sign Below

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Wendell Castle is the father of art furniture, and his pieces are so masterfully crafted that you don’t know whether you should actually be using them or if they should be in a gallery somewhere.

This clock, dubbed the ‘ghost clock,’ certainly belongs in the art category. Created in 1985, it is on display at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. and at first glance seems to be simply an old grandfather clock draped in a protective sheet. A new exhibit perhaps, or maybe it was damaged and has been covered while awaiting repairs.

Looks can be deceiving however, and only upon reading the plaque underneath can the truth be revealed. The deception is so convincing, the work so intricately carved and sculpted, that it would be impossible to tell from pictures only. It has certainly gotten the attention of visitors who, confused at first, get the magic aha! moment when reading the explanation on the display plaque below.

Scroll down below to find out how Wendell Castle created his ‘Ghost Clock,’ it’s truly a stunning piece of art!

  • The Sexiest Men Alive From 1990 To 2017 According To People Magazine Covers

The Sexiest Men Alive From 1990 To 2017 According To People Magazine Covers

    Reading Time: 7 minutes

Each year, since 1985, People Magazine has presented one famous man with the prestigious title of ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’

It’s not all about looks; this guy’s soul has to be in check for him to win the crown, too. Donating to charity, campaigning for social causes, and starring in movies we didn’t hate are big pluses. Most times, we can all agree that the weekly’s inspired decisions represent the screen legends with whom we wouldn’t mind running off into the sunset ourselves. 2017’s pick, however, is raising eyebrows and questions alike.

In early November, People announced that country singer Blake Shelton would grace their covers as this year’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’ Sure, he might give off those old-fashioned cowboy crooner vibes, but many citizens of the Internet don’t consider Shelton’s supposed support for Trump and subsequently-revealed racist and homophobic tweets to be all that ‘sexy’ – and, well, we can’t really blame them for that. “I’ve been ugly my whole life. If I can be sexy for a year, I’m taking it,” he told People Country about the unlikely honor.

Regardless of whether or not you agree with the most recent recipient of the accolade, or any of them for that matter, scroll down to see all the men People Magazine has dubbed the pinnacle of desire from 1990 onward, and let us know how many of your top choices made the front page.

New ‘Deadpool 2’ Teaser Is A Bizarre Yet Hilarious Ode To Bob Ross (NSFW)

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

Ryan Reynolds impersonating Deadpool impersonating Bob Ross is a parody we probably didn’t want, but a parody we all need. In true Deadpool fashion, it manages to deliver a hilarious take on all the talk of happy little trees, yet doesn’t insult the legendary art instructor, honoring him in a bizarre NSFW kind of way.

Also, don’t worry if you want to actually learn something new about the upcoming movie. 20th Century Fox has included about 10 seconds of its footage and has even explained its plot. “After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste,” the studio wrote. ” Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.”

The sequel to the antihero superhero hit of 2016 is expected to premiere on the 1st of June, 2018.

The video quickly went viral, making some of its viewers “unreasonably happy”

38 Stunning Black & White Celebrity Portraits By The Late Katy Barry Reveal The Intimate Side Of Famous Women

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

“Letting someone take your picture involves a degree of trust and confidence that I don’t have,” the late photographer Kate Barry said. You may not know her name, but even though she is no longer with us, Barry is still adored in the worlds of fashion, music, and film. The British-born artist photographed for Vogue, Elle, Paris Match, Le Figaro Madame, and other well-established publishers, and her distinct style made her portraits look sexy and real.

Kate Barry grew up in a family surrounded by mystique and fame. They belonged to the bourgeois–bohème socialite crowd of Paris’s modern day aristocracy, but she – unlike those around her – placed herself behind the camera rather than in front of it. “It was something miraculous for me, the image appeared almost immediately. For a long time, I didn’t realize that photography was a profession, it was always just a game.”

The artist claimed that photography is all about capturing what others don’t see. “One of my <..> photography friends always talks about ‘making’ a photo not ‘taking’ one – more applicable to him as he uses film and a darkroom, but still – it is about taking what’s there and creating a great image from it.”

Depression and addiction were common in her circles. “For a long time, my camera was a defence against the melancholy I felt.” Unfortunately, these demons eventually got to her. Kate Barry jumped from the balcony of her Parisian apartment in 2013. Scroll down to see the world through Kate’s lens and appreciate her legacy, the portraits she took.

An Unlikely Friendship Between A Dog And A Duck Surprised A Small Town In Minnesota, And It Will Make Your Day

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

Interspecies relationships aren’t just about fighting for survival. Sometimes animals form the most unusual friendships, and this story is perfect proof that fur and feathers can get along just fine.

Max the dog was 5 years old when Patrick and Kirsten Riley of Strout, Minnesota adopted him. He quickly became friends with Sasha, another Husky they had at the time. However, Sasha’s time ran out and she passed away, opening a void of loneliness in Max’s heart. A void that was soon filled by a duck.

When Patrick and Kirsten adopted Quackers, Max immediately took a liking to him. “Max would sit next to his pen all the time, and they just kind of bonded that way,” Patrick told WCCO-TV. “After we let him out, they never left each other’s side.”

“They sleep together, they eat together, they drink together, they go for walks together,” Kirsten added. “Everything is together.” Most of the time the pair is hanging out along Highway 28. Their bond is so beautiful, people even stop their cars to appreciate it.

Strout is only 25-residents big, so the pair has become well-known in the area. “Sometimes on my way home, I actually hope they’re out there because they’re just too precious to look at,” neighbor Alisa Godejahn said. “We see people stopping over there all the time. The traffic gets clogged up over there sometimes because of all the pictures getting taken.”

Only Once A Year At 11:11 AM The Sun Aligns Perfectly To Uncover This Memorial’s Hidden Beauty

    Reading Time: 3 minutes

The Anthem Veterans Memorial (AVM) in Anthem, Arizona, is a monument in honor of the service and sacrifice of the United States armed forces. It is, however, “incomplete” 364 days per year. To fully appreciate it, you have to be there at a very specific time. And sun.

“At precisely 11:11 a.m. [PT] each Veterans Day (Nov. 11), the sun’s rays pass through the ellipses of the five Armed Services pillars to form a perfect solar spotlight over a mosaic of The Great Seal of the United States,” the city’s community council writes. “The five pillars represent the unity of the five branches of the United States military serving steadfast together.” Those include the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard. “They are staggered in size with their appropriate military seal placements on each pillar based upon the Department of Defense prescribed precedence.”

A lot of consideration went into building this monument. “Each year, the center of the sun is slightly offset from other years by just a few horizontal or vertical arc-seconds relative to the timing of the required azimuth/altitude position of the sun,” AVM chief engineer Jim Martin explained. “Using the statistical mean of the 100-year data, the altitude and azimuth angles for the structure were adjusted to provide time/error fluctuation of plus or minus 12 time seconds from the International Atomic Time mark of 11:11:11 a.m. <…> we also checked the variance 500 years out, and if the structure is still standing, it will work.”

Britney Spears Sells Her Painting For $10,000

    Reading Time: 4 minutes

Britney Spears is a true American sweetheart, and just recently, she painted a bunch of pretty flowers in watercolor and sold them for $10,000 at an auction benefiting the victims of last month’s tragic shooting in Las Vegas. It’s the purest thing and people are trampling all over it.

Look, we get it. The woman is no Picasso. But something about those simple pink and blue petals just takes us back to the good old days of art class and Paint By Numbers, and the fact that she did it for charity makes it all the more commendable. “The flowers in my painting represent a new beginning, and it’s in that spirit that we move forward,” Britney stated about the tableau, which went on to sell at the Vegas Cares auction to Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous star Robin Leach.

Despite how unbelievably heartwarming this story is, some people still can’t move past the ‘ugly’ and ‘childish’ look of the painting. “I could paint better blindfolded with my toes,” one user callously commented. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, though, so we’re leaving this in your hands. Scroll down to see Britney’s magnum opus, and let us know what you make of all this calamity in the comments.
