    Sea of Thieves hat bereits zu Jahresbeginn die umfassenden Pläne für 2022 in einem Preview Event vorgestellt. Dazu gehört auch eine ganze Reihe neuer Abenteuer, mit denen Du noch tiefer in die Geschichten der Sea of Thieves eintauchst. Einen ersten Einblick in die Handlung von Forts of the Forgotten gibt es bereits im Cinematic Trailer, der im Zuge des ersten Abenteuers Shrouded Islands veröffentlicht wurde – schau am besten mal rein!

    Erobere das Fort!

    Während der Ereignisse der Shrouded Islands konntest Du einen Sieg über die Soulflame Captains erringen. Doch dadurch wurde die Barriere zwischen der Welt der Lebenden und der Sea of the Damned empfindlich geschwächt. Das ermöglicht Captain Flameheart, geisterhafte Forts überall in den Meeren der Sea of Thieves aufsteigen zu lassen. Währenddessen gleicht der Golden Sands Outpost noch immer einer Ruine – obwohl sich der mysteriöse Nebel langsam aufzulösen scheint. Glücklicherweise hat Belle einen Hinweis über den Aufenthaltsort der Bewohner*innen des Außenpostens erhalten. Doch nur unerschrockene und tapfere Crews werden sie retten können …

    Lost Judgment

    Delve into the murky noir mystery RPG Lost Judgment this weekend during Free Play Days. Take to the streets of Japan as Private Detective Yagami and unravel how a convicted police officer can somehow seemingly have committed two separate crimes in different places at the same time. Test out your sleuthing skills using a mix of high-tech gadgets and old-school tailing suspects. Mix it up when you go deep undercover at the local high school by busting moves in the dance club, building robotics, earning respect in the boxing ring, and joining an underground race club. As you get closer to the truth, violence erupts! Strategically battle it out in hand-to-hand combat mixing Snake, Tiger, and Crane styles to overcome any situation.

    As Yagami digs further into the truth, you will be faced with the ultimate dilemma: Defend the law, or enact justice?

    After generations underground your Peeps have emerged from the shelter and they’re ready to rebuild society. Nach einer ersten Staffel im Jahr 2020, welche die Heldentaten der Wikingerkrieger schilderte, wird diese „Ragnarök“-Staffel die Zuhörer:innen dazu einladen in die Mythen der neuen Erweiterung von Assassin‘s Creed Valhalla: Die Zeichen Ragnaröks einzutauchen. Es wartet ein faszinierendes Hörerlebnis und packende Geschichte mit Einblicken von führenden Experten der nordischen Mythologie.

    Der Podcast „Echos der Geschichte“ bietet ab heute den Zuhörenden eine Chance, die epischen Sagen der nordischen Gottheiten zu erleben und tief in die neun Reiche des nordischen Kosmos einzutauchen. Die „Ragnarök“-Staffel versucht den Einfluss der nordischen Sagen auf unsere heutige Kultur dazustellen, dabei wurde der Podcast durch Kommentare von Expert:innen, welche sich auf die nordische Mythologie spezialisiert haben, bereichert.

    During the events of Shrouded Islands, the defeat of the Soulflame Captains weakened the barrier between the living world and the Sea of the Damned, allowing Flameheart to summon Sea Forts — initially insubstantial, now very real — into the Sea of Thieves. Meanwhile, despite the sinister fog around the islands starting to recede, Golden Sands Outpost still lies in ruin. Luckily, Belle has a lead on the location of its inhabitants, but it’ll take some brave crews to set them free…

    • Utilize potions and other stat boosting modifiers to increase your chance of survival. You might notice that we’re at a very high character level compared to the enemies we face off against in this exclusive look. When you play Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, confrontations could be far more challenging than they appear. Potions will give you an edge when traversing dungeons, but they heal your entire party. Try to even out the damage your party receives so you heal everyone efficiently as opposed to only partially healing members of your squad. It is possible to overuse members of your team!

    • Each character can help in unique ways throughout levels and even in combat. For example, Garoo can destroy shields quickly, Isha can effectively bring down the defenses of magic focused enemies, CJ is better equipped to traverse challenging terrain, and Isha can teleport to inaccessible areas.     • Garoo acts questionably towards others. Is he hiding something that could motivate him to make these choices or is this all part of his beastlike nature?

    GAME PASS HAS PC GAMES – unter dem neuen Kampagnen-Motto des PC Game Pass starteten wir die Mod my Room-Aktion rund um das Thema PC Game Pass und den Launch des Fantasy-Strategie-Spiels Total War: Warhammer III.

    „Mod My Room“, was bedeutet das? Um den PC Game Pass und Total War: Warhammer III in den Fokus zu rücken, haben wir es uns zur Aufgabe gemacht, das ultimative Total War: Warhammer III-Setup zu gestalten. Für uns war sehr schnell klar, was hierfür auf keinen Fall fehlen durfte: ein passend zum Spiel gebrandeter Gaming-Tisch. Dafür haben wir mit Tischlermeister und Influencer Jonas Winkler gesprochen.

    PC Game Pass und Total War: Warhammer III kreieren das ultimative Gaming-Setup

    Der war sofort begeistert von unserer Idee und baute daraufhin in Abstimmung mit seiner Community den perfekten Total War: Warhammer III-Tisch für uns. Seine Follower*innen konnten über Größe, Material, Form und Gadgets entscheiden – und so wurde der Tisch genau an die Wünsche seiner Fans angepasst.

    Der Clou: Jonas fertigte nicht nur eine Platte an, er legte noch eine weitere Platte obendrauf, die nicht nur das Total War: Warhammer III Logo trägt, sondern auch mit einer in den Tisch eingelassen Karte zu einem echten Unikat wird. Den Bau des Tisches hat Jonas über Instagram, YouTube und TikTok begleitet, sodass jeder Arbeitsschritt dokumentiert wurde: die Abstimmungen mit der Community, die Suche des Materials, die einzelnen Arbeitsschritte und schließlich das fertige Ergebnis.

    Die Künstlerin Aronjaart hat außerdem ein Artwork für uns gestaltet. Mit den verschiedenen Generälen und der Eishexe Katarina im Zentrum, hat sie das perfekte Bild für Total War: Warhammer III gemalt.  

    Und letztlich: Was wäre der perfekte Total War: Warhammer III Raum ohne den passenden Merch? Richtig: nur halb fertig. Daher haben wir neben zwei großartigen Figuren der Generäle Kairos Fateweaver und Skarbrand auch ein passendes Neon-Schild anfertigen lassen, damit unsere Botschaft wirklich niemand mehr übersehen kann: GAME PASS HAS PC GAMES!     The Ascent’s cyberpunk world hits PS4 and PS5 tomorrow. Developed by our 12-person team here at Neon Giant and published by Curve Games, The Ascent is a solo and co-op action-shooter RPG set in a cyberpunk world. Based in a corporate-run metropolis stretching high into the sky and filled with creatures from all over the galaxy. You play as a worker, enslaved by the company that owns you and everyone else in your district: The Ascent Group. One day, you are suddenly caught in a vortex of catastrophic events: The Ascent Group shuts down for unknown reasons and the survival of your district is threatened. You must take up arms and embark on a new mission to find out what started it all.

    The power of sound

    Thanks to the DualSense controller speaker, players can experience another level of sound within the game. In the heat of the action mid-fire-fight, just when you think you’re finished, players can hear health packs dropping from enemies. Each time you get hit or alert a group of enemies; you’ll hear the action coming from your hands. In the less action-packed moments, as you roam the neon streets of the arcology, you will hear the corporate propaganda and advertisements from the arcology trying to brainwash your indent mind.

    The sound for The Ascent has been produced by award-winning studio Sweet Justice Sound, who have taken the experience to new heights. Using the power of DualSense controller in a unique way, Sweet Justice Sound has manipulated various synthetic sources, from modular synth sounds to EDM drum loops, to create unique sounds and pair them against the events in the game’s audio to enhance the players’ experiences, such as specific sounds for navigating the menu to make it feel tactical and drum kicks for reload to let the player know when the reload is complete. 

    The Ascent also takes advantage of the PS5’s 3D Tempest AudioTech option for TV speakers and sound systems along with the PS5 Pulse wireless headset.

    The DualSense controller’s haptic feedback enhances each interaction and battle in The Ascent. Every type of movement your character makes will provide a different sensation, whether you’re shooting, dodging, sneaking, or taking cover from Corp funded mercenary groups like Onyx Void. You will also feel the ever-changing environment and ever moving Cypro as you navigate through the world of Veles, which fully convinces you that you are a part of this Cyber-Dystopian world.

    The Ascent is all about the weapons. The arsenal is dynamic and every gun will feel unique in your hands.     Since the inception of Code Club in 2012, teachers in Wales have been part of the Code Club community, running extracurricular Code Club sessions for learners in their schools. As of late 2021, there are 84 active clubs in Wales. With our new Code Club Community Coordinator for Wales, Sarah Eve Roberts, on board, we are thrilled to be able to offer more dedicated support to the community in Wales.

    Sarah introduced herself to the Welsh education community by running a Code Club training workshop for teachers. Educators from 32 Welsh schools joined her to learn how to start their own Code Club and then tried one of the free coding projects we provide for club sessions for themselves.

    The Welsh Code Club network had a chance to meet Sarah at a country-wide online codealong on 11 March, just in time to kick off British Science Week 2022. In this one-hour codealong event, we took beginner coders through the first project of our new ‘Introduction to Scratch’ pathway, Space Talk. Space Talk is a fantastic project for Code Clubs: it provides beginners with a simple introduction to coding in Scratch, and also gives plenty of opportunity for more experienced learners to get creative and make the project their own.

    The codealong was fantastically popular, with 90 teachers and 2900 learners from 59 schools participating. Several of the schools shared their excitement with us on Twitter, posting pictures and videos of their Space Talk projects.

    Tamasin Greenough Graham, Head of Code Club, says: “It was wonderful to see so many children and teachers from Wales coding with us. I really loved the creativity they showed in all their projects!”

    Welsh translations of Code Club learning materials

    Although the codealong took place in English, Space Talk and the whole ‘Introduction to Scratch’ pathway are available in the Welsh language. The pathway includes a total of six projects, bringing the total number of Welsh-language coding projects we offer to 37. It’s really important to us to offer our learning materials in Welsh, especially because we know it helps young people engage with our free coding activities.

    The translation of learning materials is a collaborative effort at the Raspberry Pi Foundation: we work with a team of 1465 volunteer translators, who translate our materials into  33 languages, making them accessible for more children and educators around the world.

    Two of these translators, Marcus and Julia Davage, are based in Wales. They help to make our projects accessible to Welsh-speaking learners. Marcus and Julia have been part of the community for 6 years, volunteering at Code Club and running their own club:

    “I started volunteering for Code Club in 2016 when my daughter was in a Welsh-medium primary school and her teacher had started a Code Club. This lasted until 2019. Last year I started my own Code Club at the Welsh-medium primary school at which my wife Julia teaches. Since helping out, she has taught Scratch in her own lessons!”

    Marcus and Julia have translated numerous learning resources and communications for our Welsh community. Marcus describes the experience of translating:

    “I noticed that several of the projects hadn’t been completely translated into Welsh, so when my company, BMC Software, promoted a Volunteering Day for all of its staff, I jumped at the opportunity to spend the whole day finishing off many of the missing translations! I must admit, I did laugh at a few terms, like ’emoji’ (which has no official translation), ’emoticon’ (‘gwenoglun’ or ‘smiley face’), and ‘wearable tech’ (‘technoleg gwisgadwy’).”

    Our next PS5 and PS4 system software updates are rolling out globally today, so we wanted to provide a quick look at some of the new features. We’re also glad to share new details on Variable Refresh Rate for PS5 on HDMI 2.1-compatible TVs and PC monitors, which is planned to release in the months ahead. 

    New features for PS5 and PS4

    Thanks to support from our beta participants, we’re introducing some fan-requested features to our global community today, like the ability to create or join Open and Closed Parties on PS5 and PS4 consoles. On PS5, we’re also bringing UI enhancements to Game Base and Trophy cards, as well as accessibility features like mono audio for headphones.

    PS5 players with accounts registered to the U.S. or U.K. will be able to test drive a Voice Command (Preview) feature that lets them find and open games, apps, and settings, as well as control media playback with their voice (English language setting only).

    PS App and PS Remote Play enhancements

    Starting later today, we’re gradually rolling out the ability for PS App users to create or join Open and Closed Parties through the app as well. We’ve also updated the PS App Game Base UI to make it easier to access the Friends, Parties and messaging features, delivering a consistent player experience with PS5.

    PS Remote Play mobile app users can enjoy a new “dark mode” based on their phone setting and choose from new Screen Reader languages for both iOS and Android, including Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Finnish, Swedish, Turkish, Greek, Thai and Chinese (traditional and simplified).

    On the horizon: Variable Refresh Rate support for PS5

    We’re also pleased to share that Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is planned to release on PS5 in the coming months. On HDMI 2.1-compatible TVs and PC monitors, VRR dynamically syncs the refresh rate of the display to the PS5 console’s graphical output. This enhances visual performance for PS5 games by minimizing or eliminating visual artifacts, such as frame pacing issues and screen tearing. Gameplay in many PS5 titles feels smoother as scenes render instantly, graphics look crisper, and input lag is reduced. Previously released PS5 games can be fully optimized for VRR through a game patch and future games may include VRR support at launch.

    As an added option, you can also choose to apply VRR to PS5 games that don’t support it. This feature may improve video quality for some games. If this results in any unexpected visual effects, you can turn off this option at any time. Both VRR and this secondary option can be turned on or off.

    Please note that results may vary depending on the TV you’re using and game you’re playing. As we get closer to the feature’s release, we’ll share more details, including some of the games that will enable VRR support through a game patch.

    The EON is a full network-attached storage (NAS) enclosure for your Raspberry Pi 4. Whereas previous NAS projects often involve a USB hub and cables to external drives, the EON fits up to four drives in an enclosure with a single power source. This allows you to build your own multi-drive storage solution for a fraction of the price of a PC-based equivalent.

    The first thing that strikes you about the EON is the enclosure itself. No boring black box here – instead we appear to have a pyramidical version of the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. The frame is built from “space-grade” aluminium, and feels reassuringly heavy. If dropped, we suspect it’s the floor that’s getting damaged, not the internals. Two magnetically-held opaque plates give a sleek black finish. The rear is solid with plenty of mounting holes for your drives. Raspberry Pi 4 sits at the base of the unit.

    Inside is a layered affair with Raspberry Pi 4 at the bottom, then two further PCBs, the top exposing four SATA ports for your drives. These connect via USB 3.0 directly to your Raspberry Pi 4 using a supplied external connector. The SATA ports support four drives, mounted vertically. The unusual shape of the EON means that the two outermost connectors only support 2.5˝ drives, but the inner two can be full-size 3.5˝ HDD or SSD.

    Versatile

    Argon has also baked versatility into the design with a built-IR port that works with the firm’s remote control (reviewed last month), perfect for a home theatre setup. A fan provides cooling for the entire unit, and the top-mounted power switch is a small OLED screen that can be customised to display anything, such as IP address or CPU temperature.

    Installing drives was straightforward and the supplied screws and tools were a welcome bonus. Our Raspberry Pi 4 immediately recognised the new devices, and soon we had a RAID system up and running. Argon plans to add an internal USB port to support an M.2 SSD, so you can separate the operating system and RAID drives.

    We found it hard to come up with anything negative about this case. The positioning of the power switch makes it very easy to hit it when handling the device, which can punish the impatient when moving things around. Also, despite the rock star looks, the shape of the device does cheat you out of 4 × 3.5˝ drives, which could be seen as form over function.

    These minor nitpicks aside, this is one of the most impressive home NAS setups we’ve seen. If you want your home server not only capable of huge storage and Raspberry Pi performance, but also as something great to look at, this is for you.

    Verdict

    9/10

    This is simply a stunning piece of engineering. You can build a NAS that competes with much more expensive options, and it looks like something from a sci-fi movie.

    Smite’s newest ultimate skin reward – Izanami, Queen of Cards – makes its way onto Xbox today with a mixture of misdirection and panache.

    This is no ordinary skin – it’s what we call a “Tier 5” skin, representing the pinnacle of Smite skin design and serving as the final reward for our new Heavenly Light event. Queen of Cards Izanami possesses four unique forms, each inspired by a suit of cards and corresponding tarot symbology, making her a bit of a stacked deck. When Izanami uses her ability to “Fade Away,” this stunning skin will change between its four forms, each of which is functionally an entirely separate skin. Additionally, the Queen of Cards possesses a special bonus: An emote that evolves as you complete quests built into the skin, unique to each of the suits she can take on. Each time you get a kill or assist while playing Izanami, you will draw four cards; if all four match, an upgraded emote will be permanently unlocked for her current form.

    Smite

    As you play through the Heavenly Light event, you’ll join Mulan and Sun Wukong as they investigate mysterious ghosts in China – and you’ll get some amazing skins. The Heavenly Light Event consists of four chapters, each with its own free bonus skin like Funny Bones Baron Samedi. Collect all of a chapter’s rewards to get each free bonus skin, and collect every reward across all four chapters to unlock Queen of Cards Izanami. Don’t want to wait? You can instantly unlock the Queen of Cards Izanami Skin and pre-order all of the event’s future Skins with the Buy-All button.

    The Heavenly Light event launches as part of Smite‘s Birthday Celebration, featuring free events and special savings to celebrate.     Last but not least, we’re excited to give the community a long-requested update: Expanded Custom Match options, letting you play all sorts of fun new modes with your friends! When creating custom games, there are now a number of pre-saved defaults to help as a starting point for the more common game modes, alongside more competitive rulesets such as Competitive Conquest for Smite Pro League and scrims, as well as the Ranked format. You can then customize each preset with a plethora of new, fun options such as adjusting mana costs, cooldown reduction, and more. We can’t wait to see how you all use these options to design fun new custom match experiences.

    With that, I hope to see everyone shuffling onto the battleground again soon, and be sure to practice your card counting, or the Queen of Cards may just catch you off guard.

    Ghostwire: Tokyo combat and exploration tips, out March 25

    Ghostwire: Tokyo is almost here! If you pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition of the game digitally, you’ll be able to jump in starting today, March 22 to enjoy Tokyo’s haunted streets early before the game officially launches on March 25.

    But before you dive into Ghostwire: Tokyo, we’ve got some quick words of advice to help kickstart your journey. From tips on exploration to some pointers on combat, we hope this guide helps you become a ghost hunter in no time. 

    Go vertical

    With its eye-catching blend of traditional architecture and modern skylines, Ghostwire’s version of Tokyo begs you to take to the rooftops for some off-the-ground exploration. Get some air from grappling Tengus and utilizing your ethereal gliding ability to reach areas quickly, discover hidden secrets and even get a vantage point on some unsuspecting foes. 

    Reigning cats and dogs 

    While Tokyo’s mass disappearance whisked away most of the city’s population, there are still a few survivors left, including some of the area’s animal residents. Using your abilities, you can read the thoughts of cats and dogs you come across, and some even have missions for you to accept. Stock up on pet food and you can even give out treats! After all, who could say no to a face like that? 

    Speaking of animals, keep an ear out for a Nekomata’s meow, which alerts you to nearby hidden collectibles. They can give you Meika to spend on useful consumables at shops, as well as lead you towards secrets in the world. 

    Absorbing spirits 

    Tokyo’s vanishing has left several lingering spirits trapped throughout the city. Using katashiro paper dolls, you can absorb these spirits and keep them away from Hannya and his Visitors’ nefarious plans. After absorbing enough spirits, report to any nearby phonebooth to send them to safety, netting you bonus Meika and XP that you can use to level up your skills. Throughout the game, you’ll also come across additional katashiro dolls, allowing you to absorb even more spirits before having to deposit them in a phone booth. 

    Go off the beaten path 

    The streets of Ghostwire: Tokyo are rich, varied and detailed, with tons to do and soak in outside the main story. Give into temptation and explore the city for collectibles, side missions and yokai activities in the world. Not only do side missions let you dive deeper into the game’s world, they’re also a good source of spirits to collect (as well as magatama, a rare resource used to unlock more advanced areas of your skill tree).

    Strategize 

    Visitors often attack in groups and can overwhelm you if you get surrounded. Try maneuvering around enemies and strategically positioning yourself to keep them under control – or line them up for a well-placed explosive fire shot or wide-area water blast using your Ethereal Weaving to clear out multiple foes at once! 

    Accessorize 

    Throughout the game – particularly after cleansing certain shrines – you’ll find equippable beads that provide a boost to some of your abilities, from reducing damage taken to increasing the power of your Ethereal Weaving. As you progress, you’ll also be able to equip more beads at one time, so try out different combinations.

    Put up your dukes 

    Blocking is extremely useful for reducing damage from enemy blows and rewards players who can time their blocks perfectly. Not only do perfect blocks totally negate damage from enemy attacks, they can also stagger certain enemies or reflect certain projectiles back at them.

    Mix it up 

    Ethereal Weaving isn’t your only option at your disposal in a fight. Use talismans to stun enemies in an area of effect, summon a spirit bush that you can duck behind for cover or even pick off enemies from afar with your bow. 

    Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade 

    Ghostwire: Tokyo has three sets of skill trees that can help you find your playstyle and grow as the ultimate ghost hunter. Are you into stealth? Focus on bow upgrades like faster draw time or faster movement speed while crouched. Enjoy getting up close and personal? Unlock abilities like melee range core grabs or core grabs on knocked-down foes to finish off foe with stunning efficiency.  

    There are also some very useful skill unlocks every playstyle will benefit from, like decreased charge time for Ethereal Weaving or the ability to summon your own Tengu to grapple atop rooftops with ease.

    Growing ghost hunters need to eat 

    Taking along some food on your adventure isn’t just nutritious – it’s your main way of restoring health in a battle. Keep an eye out for snacks lying about the city and stock up at convenience stores before heading into your next big encounter. For an extra boost, you can eat special ‘nether food’ that even adds a temporary buff after you eat it. Also, don’t be afraid to spend some of your upgrades on expanding your food storage – it may not be the flashiest enhancement but trust us, you’ll be glad to have those extra dango to chow down on when things start to heat up. 

    If you haven’t pre-ordered the digital Deluxe Edition, you can still do so and enjoy a head start. The Deluxe Edition features the full base game along with the Shinobi Outfit, Kunai Weapon item and the Streetwear Outfit Pack. All physical and digital pre-orders for the Deluxe Edition will also include the Hannya outfit and the Premium Biker Outfit Pack (which comes with eight color variants for the Biker Outfit) to wear in-game.
