E-Sports Games News PS4 Reviews Xbox ONE

Is PS4 Spider-Man game coming to Xbox? Is it a PlayStation exclusive?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

After Spider-Man’s release on PS4 on September 7, the world was set alight: social media feeds were awash with the wall-crawler’s exploits, and it seemed like everyone was playing Insomniac’s newest title.

But not everybody was: the game is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and that means anyone without access to the console has been eager to know when they can play it.

Now, after the game has launched on PS4, are we likely to see it launch on other platforms too?

Here’s everything we know so far.

Is Spider-Man PS4 Coming to Xbox One?

At the time of writing, there are no plans to release Spider-Man PS4 on Xbox One.

The game was developed by Insomniac Games with funding and support from Sony, and as such we’re very unlikely to see the game release on any Microsoft platform.

To date, we haven’t seen any Sony-published titles release on Xbox platforms.

This means you’re unlikely to ever see the likes of Spider-Man, God Of War, Detroit: Become Human, Nioh or Uncharted 4: A Thieve’s End come to Xbox One.

If you’re keen to play something similar, the closest we can suggest is Insomniac’s previous release – Sunset Overdrive.

Sunset Overdrive was a popular game released by Insomniac Games back in 2014 – and the Xbox exclusive generated a lot of conversation at the time, likely thanks to its inventive traversal systems and in-your-face humour.

There’s talk of a second game in the series – which could likely draw on a lot of what Spider-Man did in terms of gameplay – but if the game is in development, it sounds like it’ll be early days.
